Making Captivate accessible when running in a Flash movie?
Hi all,
I need to run a Captivate movie in a Flash shell. The Captivate movie, when run on its own, is highly accessible: the tab index finds all items on a slide, for instance. However, when I load the Captivate movie into a Flash shell, the tabIndexing completely ignores the Captivate movie. I've set the movie clip that holds the Captivate movie to tabChildren=true, that doesn't do the trick.
Does anyone know how to get the focus manager to jump to elements in a Captivate movie when that movie is running in a Flash shell? Thanks in advance!
Joe
one more question:
when i render my movie out (its an irregular size) i now have two black bars on the right and left. i assume this is because i changes the pixel size to square. is there anyway to get rid of the bars or was this a snafu from the begining because i didnt have it set to squares?

Problem accessing variables in loaded Captivate swfs when run locally
I'm loading Captivate 3 swfs into a custom Flash player. Here
is pseudocode that just gets to the point:
var cp1_mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("cp1_mc",
1);
cp1_mc.loadMovie("captivate1.swf");
[wait for (cp1_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide != undefined) via
setInterval]
// ***** cp1_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide is FOUND
var cp2_mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("cp2_mc",
2);
cp2_mc.loadMovie("captivate2.swf");
[wait for (cp2_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide != undefined) via
setInterval]
// ***** cp2_mc.rdcmndGotoSlide REMAINS UNDEFINED
INDEFINITELY
The thing is, this problem does not happen when testing the
movie in Flash, nor does it happen when the player.swf is run on a
server. It happens when the player.swf is playing locally in an
html page.
Can anyone give me a clue as to what's going on? My best
guess is that it has something to do with Flash Player Security,
because it only happens locally in a browser, but I just don't get
what's happening.Turns out it was a Flash Player security issue and I had to
set security settings to "always trust" for my local
directory. -
Captivate crashing when I insert a flash widget??
Hi
I am trying to insert one of the preset flash widgets into my Captivate project but when I do it crashes eveytimr and I get this error message:
Any ideas? I am using Captivate 5.5
CheersHi,
Welcome to Adobe forums.
Can you please try this on a blank project. If you're trying this on a blank project, then please try to insert any other widget and see if that is working or not.
Thanks

Javascript error when adding Flash movie to DWCS3
When I try to add a Flash movie to a page in DW CS3, I get
the following message:
When executing onClick Options.htm, the following Javascritp
Error(s) occurred:
At line 55 of the file "I:\Program FIles\Adobe\Adobe
Dreamweaver CS3\Configuration|Commands|Object|Object Options.js":
Cannot fine the file I:\Program FIles\Adobe\Adobe|adobe
Dreamweaver CS3\Configuration\Shared\Common\Cache\Empty.htm.
At line 55 of the file "I:\Program FIles\Adobe\Adobe
Dreamweaver CS3\Configuration\Commands\Object Options.js":
getDocumentDOM: Argument number 1 is invalid.
If I click through the error messages, I finally get the
movie on the page and it seems to display okay in IE6 ahd FX.
I don't get the error when I load a Flash movie if I use DW
8.
Do I need to reload DWCS3? Or is there a fix that I can
download. It seems to be a problem with DWCS3.

Flash movie just has a white box when previewed
Working in Flash CS4
My question is when I publish my flash movie it opens fine on my computer but when I copy the folder with all the contents to another computer the skin show up fine but I get a white box where the movie should be. The same goes if we try to place it on a website. Files are available here to view

Password: forum4HELP (case sensitive)Hi,
I have taken a look at your .fla and seems your source file name is not matching with what is available(Bob_Dickson.f4v) & what is specified(Bob Dickson InterviewH264.f4v) in the Component Inspector panel. Either rename your movie from "Bob_Dickson.f4v" to "Bob Dickson InterviewH264.f4v" probably the easiest way or change the Source name for your flv playback component in Component Inspector panel to "Bob_Dickson.f4v" and re-publish the swf.
Hope this helps
Thanks!

Menus not working when flash movie is added
We have some menus on our portal and if we add a flash movie, the submenus under the menus will not work on IE6, however in IE7 and firefox it works fine. When we remove the flash movie all the submenus will work on IE6, IE7 and firefox.
Any help on this?
Thanks

<param name="flashvars" value="config={videoFile: 'http://dd/1/134263.FLV', autoPlay: false, loop: false, showMenu: false, initialScale: 'orig' }" /></object>You can try 3 things :
- use full urls in your menu : http://your_portal:your_porta/portal/page/portal/... instead of just "/portal/page/portal/...."
- embed" your menu code as well as your flash code with a complete html code (<html><head></head><body>...</body></html>
- spceify some <base url=...> in the head section of each. There can be conflicts about this. When you say your menu does not work, you mean the links are wrong when you click on a submenu ? What is the url of the link and what is the url you're getting at ? -
When i play a Flash-Movie in QT 7.5 there is no sound! Why?
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2
and then the latest version obtained from here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
and installed.
If you are running Leopard:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning. -

Shahid HussainHi users,
Thanks for reply.
Actually the problem is -
For portrait dimensions are -
width 20
height 30
for landscape , obviously it will be
width - 30
height - 20
Thus , for second page - table width is 20 while page width is 30 and so 10 cm space remains blank on right side of page
user says that right side should not be blank, rather you extend table width to whole page width.
thats where the problem is -
White boundary line around flash movie
Hi,
When I use a flash movie on an HTML page it all looks good in
Mozilla Firefox. In IE on the other hand, it sucks, because when
you move your move over the flash movie you see a white boundaty
box. Which makes it all look very silly.
How do I get rid of that?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

months i would have....let's see - go here:
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*flash*&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
(the google archive of the forum)
and search for "active content".
A total of 362 (and rising everyday) returns.
Multiply that by $.5
I think I would end up with $181. (is my math correct?)
Anyway you get the point. Search the forums first - it was
just asked and answered at least twice
just yesterday. It unfortunately will be asked again today a
couple more times, and then tomorrow
and the next day and....
Most of us are simply too tired to even respond to this
anymore but we understand that searching for
the right terminology is often hard to discern.
But here's the url that has been posted here a couple hundred
times already - guess it can't hurt to
paste it again :)
http://activecontent.blogspot.com
If you search google for "active content" you will realize
just how popular this little bit of tech
news was/has been over the last 6 months - been all over
blogs and news sites for a while.
There are methods to combat this on this site (yes,
adobe.com) and all you have to do is search
adobe to find:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/
An entire section devoted to this issue.
When you hover over any active content in IE you will see
this:
http://www.mudbubble.com/staging/ac.jpg
See the little tool tip instructing you what to do? If you
google that ("Click to activate and use
this control" or similar), you will find 2,050,000 returns
(wow)

When I load different flash movies in the same image-control
(e.g. via a button-click), the browser-cursor starts switching from
a busy-cursor (the little round clock-cursor) to an arrow (or
hand)-cursor intermittingly, without stopping.
When I load the same movie over the existing one in the
image-control this does not happen.
Seems like I have to unload the old movie first? I don't know
how to do that.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanx in advance.

Have to click on flash movie to activate it
I have a flash movie that when loads on a webpage, does not
respond to mouse clicks until the user has clicked anywhere on the
movie at least once. When you mouseover the flash movie in the
browser, a grey border appears around the movie and a tooltip with
the following test appears "Click to activate and use this control"
Is there a way to avoid the initial click before the user can
navigate using the buttons in the flash movie?
Thank you in advance,
Armoplease search forum first - google is also your friend here -
this is front page news on hundreds of
blogs and news sites - just search anywhere for "active
content" - there are large number of
on-going discussions here for the past few weeks - too much
info for use to re-type so searching
will provide you with a wealth of information almost
immediately.
hope this helps.

In order to use the flv progressibe download, you have to put the flv out on the server in its final location first, then build your movie. After doing so, I tested the URL and all is well. After makinga web service , then a portlet, the portal appears to add http;//urltovideofolder in front of the video name, thus making the path wrong. Anyone putting Flash movies in their 6.1 portal?
Much of this depends on how the Flash file is setup, but I
would start
by using the gotoAndPlay command instead of gotoFrame:
on MouseUp me

Flash Movie In Template Will Not Play
I built a site using Dreamweaver 8 that is based upon a
template. I made several changes to the template, and each was
incorporated into all of the pages created from the template.
However, when I inserted a Flash movie into the template it will
not play on any of the pages. I double-checked to see if "autoplay"
was selected, and it was. I played the movie from the template in
design view and it looked fine. I made a new page and inserted the
movie into the page, bypassing the template, and it played. Does
anyone have any tips that might help me to get the movie that is
inserted in the template to play throughout the site?
Thanks! For what it's worth, this solution is posted here what seems
like HUNDREDS
of times a week. Good searching skills will do you well when
coming here
for solutions....
