i do not want to use jar or war because it can be
easily brokenjust as easily as an executable. and you can't choose between a jar and a war, you have to use whichever is appropriate for your deployment. if you are developing a web-app, how on earth is your container going to load a windows executable? and this isn't a JSP question, in any way shape or form

  • Converting a java file to a web service

    How can i convert a java file to a web service,And then invoke that service by making my other java file.

    You can convert your java file into a WSDL with the WSDL2Java utility in Axis. This will create a definition that will be accessible by potential clients.
    To deploy your java class, you can use Axis in a Web Server of your choice (Tomcat, Apache). All you need to do is run the Axis Admin Client for a deploy.wsdd file and point your client to the IP:PORT.
    Very straightforward.

  • Making .exe for a java file

    Is it possible for us to make the .exe form of a

  • Making '.exe' file/application using JAVA

    Hi,
    Is it possible to make an application(an exe file) using just Java, just as we in VB.If yes can you please give some idea how can we do that.
    Thanks.....

    To make a java application run from a click on an icon
    you must create a Jar file as I've explained below:
    Create a separate folder and place all the source code programs needed to run the application in it. You just need the ones with the .class extension. You don't need the ones with the .java extension.
    Open up 'Notepad' and type in this line:
         Main-Class: your class that has the main method
    You don't need the .class extension.
    ex. If your main method is in a program called HelloWorld.class
    type in :
    Main-Class: HelloWorld
    Make sure you hit the RETURN key at the end of the line. I forgot to do that which is why I spent four hours trying to get this to work!
    Save this as: manifest.mf
    and put in the same folder as above. Make sure it doesn't save as manifest.mf.txt
         Open MS-DOS.
    CD change to the directory and folder you are in.
    Type this in exactly as I have written:
    jar cvfm0 myprogram.jar manifest.mf *.class
         This should put a Jar file in your folder. Just click on it and it should work.
    Make sure the program doesn't need to take input from a command line, like DOS.
    Otherwise it will do nothing. As long as your program creates a frame, window, button or something, it should work.
         To run the Jar file from DOS(for testing purposes) type:
    java -jar myprogram.jar
         If you get an error stating that it can't find the main method class(like mine did), right click on the 'myprogram.jar' file that was created,
    click on properties, then ZipMagic.
    Open the 'manifest.mf' file and make sure
    that 'Main-Class: yourprogramname' is in there.
         If you followed these directions you should be able to create an executable java file.
    Below I've explained what the commands to create the Jar file mean.
    jar: means you are creating a java archive file which acts like a ZIP file
    c: means create a new jar file
    v: means verbose which tells DOS to show the action it is doing
    f: means that the files to choose are going to be typed in by a user(you at the Dos prompt)
    m: means to use the manifest file that you specify
    0: means that the file won't be compressed
    To make a JAR file you only need the cfm letters.

  • Problem in making exe file for java application

    helo,
    i tried to make an windows installer packge for my jar file using advance installer. There is one option for including JRE with this package. i included jre package also.otherwise ,the applicaiton will not work in client side,if java is not installed in his system.
    But the problem is after i make the setup including JRE ,the size of the file become 26mb. So,it took long time to download the application.
    What are the essential jav files we have to include while makes the setup for running the application.I included all the JRE folder itself.
    So the size become heavy. Anybody plz help me solve this
    regards
    jithesh

    Hello, I have the same problem, did you solved it?
    Thanks

  • Want to create and exe file for .java files

    Hello all :)
    I am making a multi-threaded console application.
    It also takes command line parameters from user.
    I want to create .exe files out of .java files.
    Note:- One class contains main method (in default package) and all other classes are in some specific package
    I want to create an exe for the whole application.
    The solutions which i get on net is exe4j but i was unable to use it.
    Please suggest me to create an windows executable file out of java files.
    Thanx in advance

    by definition, if you double click on the .exe , you won't pass it parameters
    you have to launch a shell, reach the directory where the .exe (or .jar) is stored, and launch the exe directly with parameters, e.g:
    myApplication.exe -u user -p password
    you can't double click on the exe and say "ok, i give you -u -p!" ; everything has to be done simultaneously if your app is using the "String [] args" arguments of main
    if you want to specify parameters after launching the app, you have to grab user input in your main

  • How to package/inlcude C++ .exe and .dll files in a Java Web Start App?

    Hello,
    I have a Java Web Start application that runs fine if the application is only 1 .jar file.
    But I have a need to also run C++ .exe and .dll file from my Java application.
    I wonder if someone could please tell me how to package/include C++ .exe and
    .dll files in my Java web start application?
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Akino

    You need to place the EXE and DLLs inside the jar.
    Java cannot execute them from the jar. They have to be extracted (see Class.getResourceAsStream) from the jar and copyied into the target machine file system, perahps to the temp directory. Now you can execute them using Runtime.exec() or ProcessBuilder.start().

  • How to create java files into windows applications i,e. exe files

    I been trying to convert my java files to exe files, but i have been reading a lot of webpages speaking of writing a code in c++ source code,
    any easier way to do it.

    Add your java compiler to the windows path.
    Hie thee to a run terminal! Enter
    javac filename.java
    then enter
    java filename
    And your program will work.I believe the OP is rather about creating a windows executable out of his application (jar).
    @OP If there is an easier way to do this, i must have missed it. Haven't searched thoroughly though. Gave it up as it looked complicated enough.

  • *.exe Java File

    Hi
    I made a java application using JCreator LE which i always need to use and always need to run to get some critical output , so what i need to know is that if i can create an executable java file like in windows( .exe File) which when i click on it will pop up my application instead of always compiling and running it in the JCreator software.

    Thanks for the reply , but by the way i've tried to
    create an executable jar but the commands specified
    to create an executable jar is not running in my
    command prompt , they do nothing1) JCreator might be able to do that, too
    2) I don't believe they do "nothing". Either they provide the JAR or an error message

  • Calling a method from another Java file.

    I think I'm doing this right, but I'm obviously going wrong somewhere.
    In order to not have one big long java file, I've created one main one to execute the program, and another to do some of the functions. I'm using eclipse, btw.
    In the main file, I have
    currentTB = getActiveTB(playerArea);If it works, it should get send the player area variable to the getActiveTB method, and store the value it returns in the currentTB variable, right?
    In the other file, I have;
    package scenes;
    public class sceneIndex {
         private TerrainBlock getActiveTB(String areaCode) {
              TerrainBlock tBlock = new TerrainBlock();
                     **DOES STUFF**
              return tBlock;
    }I have it set up so the second file is in the source folder "resources" and the package "scenes." The problem is I'm not calling it properly. I'm missing something simple, I think. The only error I'm getting is;
    The method getActiveTB(String) is undefined...
    Where am I screwing up?
    EDIT: Yeah, I'm a rookie here trying to figure it out on my own. My computer science courses, so far, conveniently all consist of just one big java file. Easier to write, sure, but not very efficient/organized.

    Yeah, so this is still pissing me off. I'm not sure what else to do. I've tried this a million different ways, in both eclipse and netbeans. Whatever. Here's the code, I'd love it if someone could point out the boneheaded mistake I'm making. I'm getting a little frustrated at being stuck on such a simple problem.

    I don't know anything about JBuilder either. If you use the command prompt and enter the full path to the 1.5 javac.exe then that will prove whether the issue is using an older javac or not. For example "c:\j2sdk1.5.0_01\bin\javac HelloWorld.java"
