Does the OS know the notion of "service", or is it an imported term from Windows?

Make sure that you are using non-xa datasources and in DBAdapter outbound connection pool configuration provide the data source JNDI in "dataSourceName" property instead of "xADataSourceName" property. Update the DBAdapter after changing configuration.

Title: Achieving Availability, Performance and Control of Java Applications
in Financial Services
Abstract:
In today's competitive environment, financial institutions must focus on
three key business goals:
a.. Creating a customer-centric enterprise to maximize value to customers
and increase share of wallet
b.. Improving transactional efficiency for rapid delivery of the right
products, services and information to customers and to employees
c.. Accelerating the decision making process to mitigate risk and improve
returns.
BEA and Wily Technology have helped a number of financial services firms
meet these objectives by delivering high-performance business solutions that
meet rigorous demands for performance, reliability and scalability.
On October 1, 2002, Wily Technology and BEA will present a joint Web seminar
titled "Achieving Availability, Performance and Control of Java Applications
in Financial Services" with Eric Gudgion, Principal System Architect,
Technical Solutions Group at BEA and Chris Farrell, Director of Technical
Marketing at Wily. This Webinar will showcase the many advantages that the
WebLogic® Enterprise PlatformT and Wily's Introscope® offer financial
services firms.
Attendees will learn how WebLogic Server, BEA's unified, simplified and
extensible solution, provides a robust platform for the development and
deployment of enterprise Java applications. Some examples of what financial
institutions can achieve with BEA include Multi-channel Services Delivery,
Straight-Through Processing, Wealth Management and Cash Management.
Wily Technology will highlight Introscope's ability to manage financial
services Java applications by pinpointing component-level performance issues
in real-time, whether in the application, application server or
Java-connected back-end systems. Wily's suite of Java application management
solutions offers a comprehensive platform for achieving 24x7 application
availability, enhanced performance and better control of IT resources.

First of all you should check out which products are supported on 64bit :- http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/hyperion-supported-platforms.html
If you are planning on using windows 64bit EAS then you will have to manually deploy the web application, it cannot be automatically deployed.

• Simple Deploy problem- making an Executable JAR File ...PLEASE HELP

Hi all,
I Trying to deploy a simple J2SE app by making an Executable JAR File, however I don'r understand how to add a valid value to the Main Class field.
I followed the following description within Jdev, after creating a Deployment Profile:
Deploying an Executable JAR File
You can make your simple archive or J2EE Client Module into an executable JAR file that you can launch with the java command.
To deploy an executable JAR file:
1) Select and right-click the simple archive or client icon in the Navigator to display the context menu.
2) Choose Properties.
3) Click JAR Options in the tree.
4) Select Include Manifest File (META-INF/MANIFEST.MF).
5) In the Main Class field, enter the fully qualified name of the application class that is to be invoked.
7) Click OK.
8) Launch the executable JAR file from the command line:
java -jar myapp.jar
where myapp represents your JAR file name.
Like I said it's in 5) I'm doing something worng
My deploy-file (PlotPrint.deploy) looks the following:
<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>

Yes that was the problem so I have changed the element mainClass to
<mainClass>xxPlotPrint.MHCI.PlotPrintClient</mainClass>
But now another probem has occured, since I get the following error when run the jar-file (When I run the app from within Jdev there are no warnings or errors).
----Batch-file-----
@echo off
java -jar PlotPrint.jar
echo Test Plot and Print Batch-file!

It's the same problem in all three exceptions (the exactly the same code), however I was a bit to quick this is the line (the line before I process the xml doc :-)
import org.w3c.dom.Element;
responseData = new Vector();
responseData = test_NNE35_SOAP.getXSDdoc();
Element elements = ( (org.w3c.dom.Element)responseData.elementAt(0) ); (line 42)
Please help I don't understad why I receive this exception, since I included the xmlparserv2.jar file, and don't even have a workaround :-(

• Java executable with tags/options

Firstly i'd like to say hi, i'm new to the forums have viewed the forums before and found it really useful so i thought i'd join today :p
Anyway my question:
i usually develop and run applications with the IDE or javac from the command prompt and never looked in to distribution. I was wondering when you run a java application with tags or options like :
' java myapp -tag1 option1 -tag2 option2 '
my question is how can you do the above with the tags in java executable format or even JAR if possible. I know that if I just make JAR file or even package into a executable format it will probably just run the application without the tags.
Also another small questions, how can you run or start services through your java applications? like how you would go to the command prompt and start a service like 'start rmiregistry', how could you do the equivalent through a java app instead of using the command prompt.
I've heard a little bit about classes that provide you to make calls to the command line through java and start seperate processes with exec() and fork() but i'm not sure if this is it and i haven't looked into them much. So i'd like to hear how people do it.
So if anyone knows please give advice on this, thank you very much.
P.S if you want to know in what context or what i'm trying to achieve it's about CORBA and Java client/server applications, i'll provide the details if needed later on but I just wanted a generic answer that can work for any tags.

• Java implementation of web service concept

I am so confused. What exactly is the Java implementation of web service concept? SOAP, J2EE, JSP+Servlets+beans or what?

For an excellent description of webservices in Java read the following article
http://www.theserverside.com/resources/article.jsp?l=WebServices-Dev-Guide
It should clear most of your doubts.
Web services means a client server program which exhanges data in XML over HTTP.
Soap is one way of implementing web services. A java soap implementation is freely available at
http://xml.apache.org/soap/index.html
Also, you can read about ebXML (which is another model for making web services).
http://www.xml.org/feature_articles/2000_1107_miller.shtml
http://java.sun.com/features/2001/09/ebxmlrev.html
hope this helps.

• Error while executing ECC_SALESORDERCRTRC web service

hello,
I am getting error while executing the we service ECC_SALESORDERCRTRC using webservice navigator
XML Serialization Error. Object content does not correspond to Schema restrictions of type [http://sap.com/xi/APPL/SE/Global][BusinessDocumentMessageID.Content].
can any one tell me why am i getting this error ?
thanks in advance

Hi Ajantha,
The Message Header node is optional. You can skip the complete Message Header node.
Otherwise you need to generate a unique ID for the message and map this ID to BusinessDocumentMessageID.
Try removing Message Header from your input XML. This should solve the error.
Regards,
Shankar

Is there a way to restore. Thanks.

I would re-run FIM setup - I think it can re-create this account

• Image not displayed in pdf generated using Java API for Forms service

Hi,
I am creating a pdf document using Java API for Forms Service.
I am able to generate the pdf but the images are not visible in the generated pdf.
The image relative path is coming in the xml as defined below. The images are stored dynamically in the Livecycle repository each time a request is fired with unique name before the xml is generated.
<imageURI xfa:contentType="image/png" href="../Images/logo.png"></imageURI>
Not sure if I need to specify specify specific URI values that are required to render a form with image.
The same thing is working when I generate pdf document using Java API for Output Service.
As, I need to generate interactive form, I have to use Forms service to generate pdfs.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Below is the code snippet:
                //Create a FormsServiceClient object
                FormsServiceClient formsClient = new FormsServiceClient(myFactory);
                //Specify URI values that are required to render a form
                URLSpec uriValues = new URLSpec();
                                  // Template location contains the whole rpository path for the form
                uriValues.setContentRootURI(templateLocation);
               // The base URL where form resources such as images and scripts are located.  Whole Image path is passed in BaseUrl in the http format.
                      String baseLocation = repositoryPath.concat(serviceName).concat(imagesPath);
                                  uriValues.setBaseURL(baseLocation);
                // Set run-time options using a PDFFormRenderSpec instance
                PDFFormRenderSpec pdfFormRenderSpec = new PDFFormRenderSpec();
                pdfFormRenderSpec.setCacheEnabled(new Boolean(true));
                pdfFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(com.adobe.livecycle.formsservice.client.AcrobatVersio n.Acrobat_8);
                                  //Invoke the renderPDFForm method and write the
                //results to a client web browser
                String tempTemplateName =templateName;
                FormsResult formOut = formsClient.renderPDFForm(tempTemplateName,
                                              inXMDataTransformed,pdfFormRenderSpec,uriValues,null);
                //Create a Document object that stores form data
                Document outputDocument = formOut.getOutputContent();
                InputStream inputStream = outputDocument.getInputStream();

• No Results after executing Adaptive Web Service

Hello experts,
I develope Web Dynpro applications and currently try to consume a web service from our ERP system but I get no results from the service. When trying to consume the service with a soap-tool or with .NET, everything works fine.
The Web Service was generated on an already available RFC.
The service has one input parameter, which is a department name. The output should be all employees, which work in the consigned department.
For consuming the service I created a Web Service Destination in the Visual Administrator ([see this blog|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=%28J2EE3417100%29ID0139461950DB10406225565548708901End?blog=/pub/wlg/5186]).
After creating the Destination I imported the service as an adaptive web service model in my web dynpro project.
After binding the model to the component controller I implemented the following code in the controller:
public void wdDoInit()
        model = new Z_WF_DEPARTMENT_OIC();
        Request_ZWfDepartmentOic requestMO = new Request_ZWfDepartmentOic(model);
        ZWfDepartmentOic departmentMO = new ZWfDepartmentOic(model);
        requestMO.setZWfDepartmentOic(departmentMO);
        wdContext.nodeRequest_ZWfDepartmentOic().bind(requestMO);
public void executeRequest_ZWfDepartmentOic( )
      try{
        wdContext.currentRequest_ZWfDepartmentOicElement().modelObject().execute();
        wdContext.nodeResponse().invalidate();
      } catch (Exception e) {
        wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(e.toString(),false);
I did the implementation as descibed in the following document:
[http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/900bbf94-a7a8-2910-e298-a651b4706c1e&overridelayout=true]
On the UI I have one input field for the department name and a table which should show the result and one table which shows messages which are returned by the web service.
After executing the code, I get no result from the service. In my table with the messages I get one entry which just shows zeros in the fields "LogMsgNo" and "Number".
Does anybody have a hint, what could be wrong with my proceeding?

Check this blog post:
http://www.drflex.eu/2008/06/dynamically-populate-dropdown-lists-using-webservices/
This comfirms that after you execute a web service, the Drop-Down List fields will become empty due to remerge operation. Well, I have to issue a remerge, otherwise, the PDF will not be populated properly.

In the workspace.prm file I have set ${DEFAULT_LANGUAGE}=en
May I know why this happening and a remedy for it. Appreciate you help.

• What the mechanism of the Java Proxy for Web Services in WLS 8.1

Hi, all;
I try to find out how the java proxy of web service in weblogic server 8.1
works. Suppose I use the java Proxy of a WebSerice in a client application whatever
whithin or outside the application of the web service, does the proxy actually:
1. translate my java arguments objects in XML to create SOAP msg,
2. then send the msg across the network, and web service also response SOAP msg,
3. then proxy translate it into return value of the method call ?
If that is true , the Java Proxy seems very inefficient, right?
Can any body tell me how the proxy works ?
regards,
shannon

Hi Shannon,
The type of proxy I'm familiar with is at the http connection level and
associated with the networking properties in the JDK, See:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/properties.html
Your question may be related to JWS proxies, See:
http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/howdoi/howUseTheJavaProxyForAWebService.html
You may want to ask this question in the workshop newsgroup.
Hope this helps,
Bruce
