Making plug-in available on intranet--is it legal?

We'd like to make the Java Plug-in available on our intranet so that users don't have to download it from Sun every time. I'm no legal expert, so I can't claim I fully understand the license agreement. Does Sun have a "plain English" summary of how the Plug-in may be distributed?

You can download the jre binary onto your server
and modify your HTML to direct your users to
that server if the Java Plugin needs to be installed.

  • Time Machine gets stuck on 'Making Backup Disk Available'

This has been happening a few days now. Time machine kicks off a backup but it never gets anywhere. It just keeps spinning and saying 'Making Backup Disk Available'
    The log says only:
    Starting standard backup
Attempting to mount network destination using URL: afp://[email protected]/Jim's%20Time%20Capsule
Mounted network destination using URL: afp://[email protected]/Jim's%20Time%20Capsule
I tried to use Disk Utility to repair the sparsebundle and although it says it needs to be repaired, when I click repair it quickly says it 'Volume Repair Complete' but then gets stuck on ''Updating Boot Support Partitions for the volume as required'. I left it on all night to see if it would ever finish and it never did.
Where do I go from here?
    Thanks

Where do I go from here?
if disk utility can not repair the sparse bundle you can try repairing it with disk warrior or a similar tool. if that does not work either you need to trash the sparse bundle and start backups from scratch. there isn't anything else you can do.
    Thanks

I set up a new time capsule on a wireless 4g modem.  I started the initial backup.  It's been five hours and it still says "making backup disk available (4.97 GB of 18.52 GB)."  Can I stop the whole thing, connect my computer to the time machine using an ethernet cable and start over to increase the speed of the backup?

oh i already did that. Im working on my imac and looking into this on my macbook. Was able to reproduce the issue again by trying to open TM. Locked out the finder again and had to restart. I checked the serial number and it was an early 2009 purchase with no coverage.
If you bought a Mac and got AppleCare with it, within 2 years of buying the TC, the TC is covered, too.
I have to admit that this $500 unit was the first to apparently junk out. The western digital that had my main data on that is my daily external that I store about 2TB of data on is still perfect and the new technology TM appears to already be cashed. Love the computers, not to big of a fan on the externals of the apple TV's. No life expectancy. Neither here nor there.
suggestions before I either get this looked at or scrap the HD on it and move forward.?
Reset the TC. See [Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728].
Try a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
If all else fails, take it to your local Apple Store or Authorized Repair location, they may be able to determine whether the disk is dead.
If it is, they might replace the TC for you. If not, they won't repair it, but if the electronics are ok, you can replace the HD yourself, if you want to. See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2542983

  • What is the difference between the 4 options available while we activate a Legal Regulation

    Hi All
Please help me to understand the difference between the below 4 options available while we activate a Legal Regulation
    1.Check Dispatch (Exclusively)
    2.Check Export (Exclusively)
    3.Check Dispatch/Export (Excluding Domestic)
    4.Check Dispatch/Export (Including Domestic)
    Thanks
    Akhil..

    Hi Akhil,
Actually, there are three different business scenario's when we talk in terms of trade. These are as follows:-
1.Domestic Trade:- This is internal to a country and needs to adhere to only country's internal rules/regulations.
2.Dispatch:- It is cross border trade but withing an Economic Zone of the concerned country. Economic zone is an area or group of countries to promote trade between themselves for example EU. Dispatch is further subjected to cross border trade rules/regulations but also enjoys benefits of certain agreements.
3.Export:- When we talk in terms of cross border trade with a third country with whom we didn't have any trade relation/ agreements, that is known as an Export. Export is further subjected to more scutinisning by authorities when it is processed as compared to other's.
Hence, to conclude Domestic trade is internal trade(within the country) while Dispatch/Export is the cross border trade subjected to more rules and regulation and keeping these in mind ,business can take a desicion to use a legal regulation for any of your above mentioned 4 options.
    Hope I answered your question.
    Regards,
    Aman

  • New MapiMailer Export Plug-in Available (for Windows)

Just thought I'd announce to any MapiMailer users out there, that I've finally created an Export plug-in version of MapiMailer.  The main benefit to users of the old MapiMailer is that the Windows limitation on how many files could be attached to your email is now gone.
For those who have not heard of MapiMailer, it is a plug-in which allows Windows (only) users to export and attach multiple photos to their default email program.  Without it, you can only attach a single photo.  It is free for anyone to use (donations accepted).  It has been submitted to the Adobe plug-in exchange, but you can also download and read about it now at my new website www.sbsutherland.com.
    Spread the word.
    Steve Sutherland

Thanks for making the new version available to us.
I tried it and it works nicely in LR 2.4. It is indeed a significant improvement to the old version.

  • How to do it? - making plug-in 64-bit native for AE CS5

    Hi
I'm a Japanese software developer of After Effects effect plug-in. Those plug-ins made by CS3 SDK.
Now, I want to make my plug-ins 64-bit for AE CS5 on both Winsows 7 and SnowLeopard(v.10.6.x).
But I can't find any informatin abuot this in this forum, SDK Documents, Adobe partner connection central...
How to do it? Using CS4 SDK? or Waitng for CS5 SDK? Is there any information about this?
...Someone please help me giving information about this issue. if I ask stupid question, you can call me "Stupid frog!";-(
    p.s.
I know AE CS4 runs as 64-bit Application. So I guess I can make it using CS4 SDK, But no issue in CS4 SDK Document...

as far as was published up to now,
AE CS5 will not work with plug-ins compiled with SDK CS4 and lower.
we will not know for sure until http://cs5launch.adobe.com/ will reach 0.
    in other words:
you have to wait for CS5 SDK to come out, and adjust your plug-ins to true 64bit.
only then will they work with AE CS5.
the CS5 SDK is still not available to the general public and was only handed to a select few developers.
you could contact adobe and ask nicely... but i'm guessing that it will be published a short while after the tryout version release.

  • Making iphoto library available to other macs and pc's.

In an earlier question I asked if there was a way to make the iphoto library one one computer available to other macs and pc's, and be able to upload pics to the main library and have the other computers see the new pics automatically. I was told that this wasn't a good idea given my current configuration (network raid box). So I'd like to ask, If I wanted to do this kind of sharing, where each computer accesses a single "main" library and updates itself as new pics are imported into that library, how can I go about doing this? Do I need Aperture on each computer, with a mac pro holding the main library? Any suggestions, along with any clues on the different types of "managing" would really help. I'd just like to add pics to my main library and have my other family members see them and use them on their own macs, with the fewest amount of steps.
    Thanks
    Scott

If you want each user to be able to add to, delete, edit and generally use the library the same as everyone else the your best bet is to put the library on an external HD connected to a Mac and give the other Macs access to that external HD. However, only one user could access the library at a time. As for the PCs, get them a Mac.
See this Apple Document for more info: iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Making plug-ins always active

Every time I start Firefox, I have to manually change two of my plug-ins from "Never Activate" to "Always Activate". The two plug-is are "Shockwave Flash" and "Silverlight Plug-in". When I change the feature to "Always Activate" it does not hold. Am I missing something like a save feature etc.?

Firefox sometimes does not save updated preferences due to a problem with the prefs.js file (e.g., it is locked by another process). If you notice other settings not saving, such as your preferred home page, or Tab options, etc., that could be a factor.
Your saved settings also can be overridden by other software creating a user.js file.
For both of those issues, please see this support article: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
Some utility software, such as Advanced SystemCare, will roll back settings changes when you exit Firefox. This is meant to protect you from unwanted changes, but also blocks you from making changes. You should check whether any of your utility, security, or system cleaning software has this feature.
A final possibility is malware, but hopefully that won't be the issue here. If you want to supplement your regular security software, you can use some of the free tools listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].

  • Installing the plug-in from an intranet server

    Hi all!
Does anyone know if it is possible to store the installation file of the 1.3.1 plug-in (jinstall-131-win32.cab ?) on a server, so that client machines in the intranet can load it and install the plug-in, without having to visit java.sun.com? It would be a major time saver.
    Thanks!

  • Hp smart web printing does not work on firefox. HP says this is not their problem and to contact Mozilla. Is there a plug in available?

I just bought a new hp printer. the software has a feature called HP web smart printing. The feature works on explorer but not on Firefox. HP says this is not their problem and suggested I contact Mozilla. Is an add on available and if not will one be made available.
I am using v. 3.6.13. and the printer is HP Officejet 4500.

HP smart web printing is an application that only works with IE. In spite of what HP have told you, if they want their application to work with Firefox they will need to make a version for Firefox. It is not down to Mozilla to make a version of the HP software for Firefox.

  • Time capsule stuck on making backup disk available

I read the tread below that should fix this issue:
"What I did was start up disk utility and use it's repair feature on the bundle. The first time, I got an error saying it could not be repaired, but I tried again a couple days later and it seems to have worked.
    How to:
    1. Disk utility it in the Utilities folder in Applications or use spotlight to find it.
    2. You want to repair the sparsebundle that is on the time capsule or external drive. It's at the top level and named something like Liz M's MacBook_123456789abc.sparsebundle.
    3. If it doesn't show up on the list in Disk Utility, use Finder to find it and then drag it into the list in the bottom half of the pane.
    4. To run the repair, clicke the sparsebundle and then the "Repair Disk" button.
    5. The first time I tried, it didn't take long but did repair some key things. The second time, it took 9 hours! But it completed and looks good.
    6. If you get an error that it's in use, go to Airport Utility and:
    - click on the time capsule on the left
    - click "Manual Setup" at the bottom
    - click disks icon at the top
    - if anyone else is backing up to the time capsule right then (or using the disk for anything else), wait for their backup to finish
    - click "Disconnect All Users" at the bottom
    - retry the repair disk and it should work; if someone else does backups to the same time capsule, they can continue while you're repairing though it might be slow.
My backups seem to be working just fine now. I have noticed that if you have the sparsebundle mounted in Finder, Time Machine seems to have trouble starting up, so eject it before starting a Time Machine backup.Hope this helps! I typed this on my iPhone which is a bit tedious. And nearly impossible to proofread. So, take care following these instructions and post here if you find a mistake. Thanks. "
My issue is that I can not seem to locate the sparsebundle as stated. In my Disk Utility only my 640G Hitachi hard drive and my DVD reader are listed. Time capsule is ethernet wired with green light on back. Green light on front and the signal dies work but it does not appear to be reading the drive. I turned it off and back on, it did show up as an available drive in system preferences and is switched on but then the System preferences shows "not responding" immediately after trying to open time machine preferences up.
Software up to date, hard drive permissions repaired, stuck.

  • Is There A Simple Text Editor/Composter & Line Art Plug-In Available

Yes, I know it has been addressed in other posts in the past but I wanted to know if any new tools are available since the update to 3.XX, outside of open a picture in a "Book" project and adding text in a border or downloading BorderFX, neither of which provide a direct result.
For such an advanced piece of software, I find it infurirating that the only way to create simple focus cicles, highlight boxes, insert arrows, lines or create and insert text directly on an image after cleaning it up is to
Import > Save > Export > Reopen In the OSX Built-in Image Preview > Perform Functions Using Its Tools > Re-Save Version.
Even the most rudimentary photo altering programs like MS Paint and have this basic toolset in the standard the package. How or rather why would Apple klutz this up?

I can respect that thousands of users have accepted the current status-quo of these applications,
What is there to accept? it would be different, if Aperture claimed to be a program for graphics compositing, but it is not. Aperture is a tool for a different purpose.
Here is how Aperture is advertized in the store:
Aperture gives you all the tools you need to uncover the hidden potential in your photos. It brings you even more advanced ways to organize, browse, and perfect images.
So you can make every shot your best shot.
And that does Aperture really well. If you want a painting program, why buy Aperture?

  • Making Aperture files available in FCPX

In FCPX  tool bar under the camera icon files that are stored in iPhoto libraries are available.  I am taking the Lynda.com tutorial by Abba Sappiro on FCPX and he states that both iPhoto and Aperture files are available in FCPX. I have Aperture on my system and it does not show up.  Any suggestions on how to make Aperture files available for import into FCPX?
    Thank you
    Kent

    Thanks Ben;
Took your advise and downloaded the Digital Rebellion "Preference Manager".  My iPhoto icon appears but not the Aperture in my tool bar under the camera icon.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Dashboard Settings - making one view available to all

For the different dashboards our user wants to update the settings once and make this view available to many people in his organization.  How may I do this?
Here are steps to follow to clarify what I am asking.
    1)  View project dashboard.
    2)  Click Settings link.
    3)  Add and Remove columns.
    4)  Click Save as... button.
    5)  Enter a description.
    6)  In the assignment drop down, I only have user 00 should there be another option?
    7)  Click OK
    8)  Now user can select the view in their dashboard.  (Or they could have set it to their intial view.)
Is there a way that I can do this once and share my view with others?
    Thank you,
    Wendy

    Hi Wendy,
Could you share where this answer was posted? I was following your thread very closely too.
