  • Anybody using 11g RAC Database with OIM 9.1.0.2?

    Hi,
We have poor performance problems with 11g RAC Database with OIM 9.1.0.2.
It looks like the issue could be because of RAC Ccluster.
Anybody using 11g RAC Database with OIM 9.1.0.2?
If so, What is the JDBC Driver r u using? Also what App Server (Weblogic or OAS etc) ?
    Appreciate your input.
    Regards
    Vijay Chinnasamy

We are using weblogic 10.3. And I am sorry to tell you that we are yet to move to production.
We are planning to have Database in RAC, so i just thought of taking inputs from you.
can you tell me under what operations you face the poor performance issue?
For us the max no. of users in production is around 6k. So I am wondering how this RAC availability will affect the performance.
    Thanks for sharing your inputs.

  • Need for separate instance on RAC database 11g

    Hi Experts,
Currently we have a RAC 11g database with two instances. Our business is requesting to create one more instance with an user to store historical data. They claim that they need this separate Instance for the following reasons
    1)     Easy backup and recovery for a specific instance in case of historical data
    2)     Point-in-time recovery is possible
    3)     If any other node fails, then it won’t affect this instance
Please share your expertise on this regard. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Richard

    user12075620 wrote:
    1)     Easy backup and recovery for a specific instance in case of historical dataWhat data will that be? If this is a 3rd RAC instance, then it will not make backup easier as the data is in the database (on shared storage media) and that needs to be backed up - the database's data does not reside locally on the instance.
    2)     Point-in-time recovery is possibleAgain, I do not see how this is a specific advantage that now suddenly occurs with the introduction of a 3rd RAC instance.
    3)     If any other node fails, then it won’t affect this instance Correct - a 3rd instance increases the redundancy in the cluster. It also scales it and provides additional processing capacity.

  • Database migration from non rac and non asm to RAC database with ASM

    HI,
i have requirement to import one database ( db1) which running one node with out ASM and with out RAC , now i want to import that database with rman backup to another database ( db2) which running on different server with 3 node RAC and ASM ( disk group +DATA ) , can you please provide me the steps how i can migrate.? ( i have created db2 with dbca with RAC).
    regards,
    sri

    Sri,
This could be done multiple ways. Simplest for you is to use DBCA:

  • Add another instance to RAC database...

    Dear all,
If u want to add another instance to database... using dbca ... database should be shutdown or running....?
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Imran

Perhaps asking the question in the RAC forum might be more useful.
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=140
But - if you think about it ... the idea of RAC is to maintain ultra high availability. It would sort of defeat the purpose to shut down all RAC nodes to add or remove one node from the database.
(In other words the other nodes can, and probably be should be, up.)
The proper steps to add a node, in general, are
    - Install and configure OS and hardware for new node.
    - Add Oracle Clusterware to the new node.
    - Configure ONS for the new node.
    - Add ASM home to the new node.
    - Add RAC home to the new node.
    - Add a listener to the new node.
    - Add a database instance to the new node.
The details are in the Oracle® Database Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Real Application Clusters Administration and Deployment Guide
The real kicker is that the clusterware is installed correctly and it recognizes the other nodes. Also means that the shared store is properly configured, and that is a step people often mess up.

  • Load balancing on rac database with single node appsTier

    Hi,
Please advice me, I am working on to configure load balancing on appstier, following is my setup and steps I did so far.
    Host name      Services
    Clelx062ptlge --     Rac 1 – only database
    Clelx063ptlge --     Rac 2 – only database
Clelx042ptlge --     All apps services including concurrent managers
I have two R12 database(UDEV -- development & HRQA -- UAT), I only made changes in apps tier xml file of udev for some load balancing parameters, following are the changes I did.
    *<TWO_TASK oa_var="s_tools_twotask" osd="unix"> udev_806_BALANCE </TWO_TASK>*
    *<CP_TWOTASK oa_var="s_cp_twotask" customized="yes">udev_806_BALANCE</CP_TWOTASK>*
    *<TWO_TASK oa_var="s_weboh_twotask" osd="unix"> udev_BALANCE </TWO_TASK>*
I changed the values from "UDEV" to given above value. After the above change I ran autoconfig. Then Concurrent managers and forms services are not automatically getting failover to second database node, I need to bounce services to fail it back to other available Rac node. Please note that we have only one appsTier
    Thanks,
    Tanveer Mohammed.

    Hi,
Yes, i have checked the doc referenced, and already did the steps given in the doc. Also i did all the steps given into ID 388577.1 but still Concurrent managers and forms services are not automatically getting failover to second database node, I need to bounce services to fail it back to other available Rac node.
    Please advice...
    Thanks,
    Tanveer Mohammed.

Migrate the database file to ASM
convert database Non RAC to RAC
we have gone through many oracle support documents but were unable to decide which path we should adopt. Any body who has done similar activity; please share only highly level steps. No step by step Instructions are needed. e.g. Install Grid Infrastructure (for single instance or the one which comes with cluster home???????), Move datafiles to ASM etc etc
Please make sure the steps are for 11gR2 and EBS R12.

  • ORA-19602 during backup of a RAC database with RMAN

    Dear All,
We have an Oracle 10g database on a 2 nodes. This database is running in noarchivelog mode. While doing an offline backup of this database, we encountered ora-19602 errors. See below:
channel ORA_DISK_1: backup set complete, elapsed time: 00:00:55
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting full datafile backupset
channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying datafile(s) in backupset
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 03/30/2009 09:56:10
ORA-19602: cannot backup or copy active file in NOARCHIVELOG modeBelow were the steps that we followed:
    1. We stopped both instances using "srvctl stop instance -d test -i test1,test2"
    2. We then "rman target /"
    3. In RMAN, we "startup mount"
    4. In RMAN, we "backup database;"
    5. RMAN failed with the above errors
Can someone advice what went wrong? Thanks!

    Hi..
    1. We stopped both instances using "srvctl stop instance -d test -i test1,test2"
    2. export oracle_sid=sid
    3. We then "rman target /"
    4. In RMAN, we "startup mount"
    5. In RMAN, we "backup database;"
    Changed step 2.
Also, from sqlplus can you check the
    select name,open_mode from v$database;
    select STATUS from v$instance;

  • Is this a bug in APEX 3.0.1 Installation  RAC database with RAW device???

    Hello,
I am getting the following error when I try to complete approval process.

I checked the alert log for error here is the error in the alert log file.
ORA-1119 signalled during: CREATE TABLESPACE FLOW_1 DATAFILE '//./FLOW_1.dbf'..
and i found the syntax for create tablespace was wrong.
To create a tablespace in RAC with RAW device environment under windows.
it should have forward black slash instead of backward slash "/" without .dbf extension.
so, I changed the syntax i was able to create tablespace through sqlplus.
When APEX tool try to create this tablespace it throws this error..
    Old: CREATE TABLESPACE FLOW_1 DATAFILE

Is it a bug in APEX 3.0.1.??
Is anyone installed APEX in RAC ??

    Hi,
One observation, Apex is switching the Session ID after one got killed ? I was working on Apex page with browse Item to test open cursor count,
after killing the SID (227) on which the open cursor count was getting increase, it APEX automatically switches to new SID(149) for that session.
Now the problem is even if I have two SID's and one hits the maximum open cursor count, It is not switching to other SID instead the whole application becomes unavailable.

  • Sharing spfile across all instances in RAC

I am using Oracle 10g RAC database with two instances in Linux.
Each node has local ORACLE_HOME but I have configured ASM which is shared across both the nodes.
So which I start one instance say orcl1 it is pointing to an spfile which is local to that node inside $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/spfileorcl1.ora , but when I start the other instance say orcl2 it is pointing to a spfile located in ASM ( +DG_DATA/admin/spfileorcl.ora ) .
I want both the instances to point to the same spfile ( spfileorcl.ora where orcl is the name of the database ) in ASM ( +DG_DATA/admin/spfileorcl.ora ), Can this be done ?

    SPFILE='+DG_DATA/admin/spfileorcl.ora'
