Making text links in Flash 8
Hello,
Does anyone no how to add links to a flash page step by step.
I'm realy not sure how and how to make them link to another page?

To add link to a button, do the following:
1- Create a button, which could be you text converted to a
button
2- Access the Action Script panel in the script assist mode
(find its button in the top of the Action panel)
3- choose getURL action from the left menu (find it in Global
Functions> Broswer/Network> getURL)
4- In th URL field, write the URL you would like you button
to go to.
And to make you text a link, you can do the following:
1- Write the text you would like to be a link
2- in the text properties panel, write your URL in the URL
field

Text links in Flash CS5 - Am I doing something wrong?
Hi all, I tried searching for an answer but did'nt have much luck. I decided to finally learn how to do a web page in Flash and everything is progressing except for text links. I'm importing a .psd file and I keep the text as editable, the page has 5 text links plus a text logo, the logo text link works when tested (returning to the home page) but the links to the other pages do nothing. I have tried each one seperately, pointing to both the intended page as well as the home page with no luck, the only one that I can get to work is the logo text. I have also tried grouping the text for links seperate from static text in Photoshop. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm probably over thinking things but whatever the case I can't get it to work.

PatIt figures 5 minutes after posting this question I was able to get the links working in the test window. What I did was I imported the .psd to the stage and after defining a url for the text link I DID NOT assign a target, wha la it worked.

Making a Link in Flash Professional 8
Hey,
I'm wondering how to make a link in Flash Professional 8, any tutorials around?Linking to a web page and linking to another section of the same Flash file involves different code. I'll show you examples of both wrt using a button for the interactive control.
In this case the button is assigned an instance name of linkBtn (it's assign in the properties panel). The code I show is placed on a frame that is the same as the button (different layers for good housekeeping).
Link to web page:
linkButton.onRelease = function(){
getURL("http://www.yoursite.com/page.html");
Link to section (section starts on a frame having a label... "section1"):
linkButton.onRelease = function(){
gotoAndStop("section1");
OR
linkButton.onRelease = function(){

The difference between the two for the section link would depend on whether section1 is an animated timeline piece that would play when you get there or a self-contained movieclip that has controls of its own. -

I would like to make links that are text and highlight with a

be the same as the background behind the LinkButton, set the
selectionColor to be the same as the background, too. Then the
textRollOverColor and textSelectedColor will be the styles you will
want to color.

Hi, total flash newbie here with a few questions:
1.) I'm trying to put an email hyperlink in part of my text, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I tried the code snippets, click to go to web page but instead of an URL I typed "mailto:[email protected]" but when I tested it, nothing happened.
2.) How do I link to the other pages from within the website that I'm working on? Again, I'm a total newbie and I'm only familar with Dreamweaver.
3.) Lastly, how do I bold the typeface??? The text tool properties do not show any bold, italic, or underline icons, and the hotkey to bold is the break apart command.
4.) When I test my movie, how come I can't scroll down and see the footer area of the SWF??
If there's someone on these forums that could help me with these problems, it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to insert getting web fonts from online libraries or from a font file held on the server? As I wish to use other than Arial or default device fonts.
I've read up about @fontface, but that's a little puzzling as to how to apply it to the flash - html5 output.
Help for how to / best approach and exact syntax would be greatly appreciated.

So, here is the problem.
My friend has created a flash navigation bar for me. Since I can not add links here, huhtea is the address with com.
Now, I would like to add text links and onPress (getURL) for images in my submenu.
I have tried all kinds of things. I have watched numerous youtube clips on this matter.
After adding onPress codes in Actionscript 1.0 & 2.0 and checking them, everything was fine. But if I publish it, the image does not go to the URL.
This goes for the text link as well. After highlighting the text and adding http address in the properties, everything is fine. But again, published file does not lead me to the URL.
Can someone please help me out?
Thanks,If I look at the page code of the page you say to look at, I'd say your problem lies there, and possibly in the flash file as well. I see one url in that page that targets a local drive, which is not going to work...

So it is possible you have other such links in your Flash file. I am not able to find the swf's in that page code, and seeing as how it indicates something in the way of Yahoo Site Builder being used, there could be any number of problems in trying to go that route.
What does the getURL code look like in your Flash file? If you are using relative links, that might be related to the problem, especially if the Flash file is in a different folder than the web page. -

How do I add a Hypertext Link in Flash Pro CS5? Do I need to use Action script 3 and asign to a button? My website has a text file to add and edit text content. Is there any way to add a Hypertext Link into this text file?

To answer your question yes you need ActionScript and you need to assign an event listener to a button and assign an event handler to that listener which will be a function. Try to read up on the topic "navigateToURL" in the help documentation with Flash CS5 Pro. There should be an example that you can follow. It is not as easy as it sounds at first but once you get the gist of the syntax you will know how to do it for any situation. -
Properly Linking a Flash Animation to a URL

I'm Running CS4, AS3. Thanks in advance for taking a look at this.
I was asked to link a Flash banner ad to a URL. To accomplish this, I created a new layer with one keyframe in frame 1, which spans the whole animation. In this layer I entered the ActionScript in REFERENCE 1. It works fine in several browsers, including IE8, FF3.6, and Chrome, and works for the customer. Then....
Their webmaster emailed back saying that he "did not see any links in the new banner." I'm not sure what this means, and if he actually tested the code.
They sent me an example from a previous developer, which is REFERENCE 2.
I compared it to what I published--which was generated by the CS4 "Publish" option. This is REFERENCE 3.
Did I do something wrong? Everything works in all my tests, and they work for the customer.
It looks like they're missing a lot of information from the header. It is much smaller than the header that CS4 generates. They also have a link under the <!--url's used in the movie--> comment. Could this affect the performance? To my knowledge, this is obsolete. Perhaps they used an older version of Flash?

So you may just need to add some link after that line to appease them? So asking is your best means to resolution for that.
As far as your mention of a more robust head section goes, there is probably no difference between the two--they both use the AC_FL_RunContent coding to embed the Flash file. The REF3 head section just contains all of the javascript code that is in the file they are linking in the following line...

Is there anyway to add links to flash files in Dreamweaver.
For example - I created a flash file that tranistions through a few
different images. I placed it on my home page in Dreamweaver and I
want people to be able to click the flash animation and go to
another page within my site. Is there anyway to do this within
Dreamweaver or do I have to place a url link in my Flash
file?Yeah. I see now.

Substituting a graphic for text in a Flash header
I am using a simple Flash program with 4 lines of text -- the
final line being a company name -- for the header of a website. The
program works great. Current the text is dynamic with the text held
in a flash.txt file linked to the flash.fla file.
In place of the final line of text in the program, I would
like to substitute a graphic logo. The graphic I want to use
instead of text is basically the same size as the text. And I I
don;t need to change the animation text. I just want to be able to
use the graphic instead of the simple text. Is there is a simple,
easy way to substitute the graphic flie (say, a gif, or png file)
to the text in the flash program? I am assuming that this should be
easy, but I can't figure out howto do this (yes, I am relatively
new at this). Can anyone give me any suggestions, clues, or insight
into how to do this? Thanks very much for you help.

Instead of entering a 1 for the grade, why not enter the date. Then instead of adding 1's to get the level, use COUNT(E1:I1). Condition your cell fill to "not equal to 0" and leave the text option unchecked. That way the date will show through the background.

I wonder if you could help me.
I am currently trying to centre pages and get my fireworks/spry website menu to work.
On some of the pages the menus work and can be seen above the content however, on other pages, the content isn't centred, nor do the menu's work.
When I created the templates for the website, I used the basic version supplied with the software that was supposed to centre the pages.
