Manage concurrency with in memory objects

Hi,
I am not sure whether this is the right forum, how ever thought of putting this in somewhere related to web access.Anyways let me explain
I have a web application which creates employee.There is an employ table which store the details of employees of different departments. The table have an empNo attribute which should be unique for a department.This should be auto generated.
The requirement given was , when the user starts creating the employ the employ number should be displayed on the top of the employ creation page.The employ number should be the next available employ number for that department.
As employ number can be repeated for different departments , i can not use a data base sequence to generate the employ number.So I decided to generate this programmatic , by checking the max employ number for that department from database, when user entering this page.
I would be storing this information at the session level, basically inside the Employ object (a VO).
Now the issue is , when there are concurrent users creating employees for the same department, the concurrent users will have employ object with same employ number in their respective sessions. This will fail when they submit the form to insert into database , as the employ number is unique for same department.
I hope I have explained the scenario clearly. I am pretty much sure that this should not be the way to handle this. Can anybody guide me here for a better logic?

This is not a good requirement to have. It's not fully specified too. What if a user doesn't save the employee? What happens to the number they had gotten allocated?
As employ number can be repeated for different departments , i can not use a data base sequence to generate the employ number.Some databases allow you to specify a suffix for the sequence.

  • File Server Resource Manager will not load WMI Objects on Windows 8.0/8.1 Preview with Hyper-V and Server Tools Loaded

    Hi Folks,
    I have a problem getting "File Server Resource Manager" to start properly because WMI objects are not loading??? I don't understand this at all because I am able to access them with other Apps, etc. I have been over my Services list as well but
    have not yet discovered which Service turns on/off "File Server Resource Manager". I have looked in Windows\System32\ and I can not find SrmSvc. I found other Srm's there though. I also found the FSRM Snapin which generates the Figure below but I
    can not find it in the WMI Browser. I believe the Firewall is OKAY since I have been over that thoroughly. I do have the Server Tools Installed for Windows 8.0 or Windows 8.1 Clients as well as the Windows Updates applied, which is where I got "File Server
    Resource Manager" in the first place. I have had WMI and Powershell 3.0 Package, installed since Windows 7 but I run a repair on them anyway.
    I have read through "File Server Resource Manager could not load WMI objects on Windows Server 2012
    Article ID: 2831687" but since I don't seem to have SrmSvc the solution doesn't help me. I haven't been able to find a similar one for the Windows Client.
    If there is anything you could share on this problem I would be much obliged.
    Thanks again,

    As stated on the question I have windows 7 and meet all the requirements. But when i launch firefox It wont start, but it shows in task manager with 108k memory.

    Got the exact same problem aswell, finally fed up with it now as i just started up firefox and 14 new windows opened because of this bug, luckily my computer can handle them but someone with a slower processor it would have been a nightmare, needs fixing ASAP.

  • How does delivery manager work with concurrent program? URGENT

    Hello all -
    I am trying to fax a PDF document through the rightfax server. Rightfax is setup as a 'printer' and when the conc program is submitted, we specify the rightfax printer as the printer output. Based on the "FCL - Fax command language" constructs within the report, the document gets faxed or emailed as the case may be.
    There seems to be some kind of a problem with this setup. I am trying to use the delivery manager along with XML publisher. I am able to generate the report using a template with no issues using XMLP but how and where do I introduce the delivery manager? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much,
    T.R. Srikanth

    STR Software's AventX Oracle Connector can deliver PDF documents. We are using it to delivery to the AventX UNIX delivery server that connects to FAXCOM. STR supports Right FAX too.

  • Where is the network memory object?

    Hello,
    I have a performance problem.
    I wrote a logical network in the spatial database with around 120.000 links and 100.000 nodes.
    I can read the network through SDO_NET_MEM PL/SQL but I cant read it through the Java API. I get an OutofMemory error.
    I tried to increase the JVM size through the IDE I'm using (eclipse) but it had no effect at all.
    I read that the Java API and the SDO_NET_MEM package use the network memory object which is a cache in a virtual memory. How can I adjust the size of this cache?
    Cheers,
    Elif

    see post :
    Re: Network analysis performance issue
    you have to manage your java memory to run your java client and there is also a java memory space in the oracle server that you can increase with SDO_TOPO_MAP.SET_MAX_MEMORY_SIZE(value)
    value is in bytes (not in kb like the documentation says!!!)

  • OpenCL: best way to resize memory objects

    I'm a beginner in OpenCL and I have a question about memory management (like 99.99% of noob questions about OpenCL, I guess...). I enqueue the kernel for execution inside a loop in the host code; at each iteration the size of the buffers used for memory objects passed as kernel arguments is different. Currently, I do something like this using the C++ wrapper API (which BTW I find much more easy to use than the C interface, that nevertheless seems to be the most used interface yet):
    // Set platform, kernel, queue etc.
    for (int i = 0; i < nIterations; i++){
    // Set buffer sizes and fill them
    // OpenCL section
    cl::Buffer clBuffer1 = cl::Buffer(context, CL_MEM_READ_ONLY | CL_MEM_USE_HOST_PTR, bufferSize1*typeSize1, (void *) &(buffer1[0]));
    cl::Buffer clBuffer2 = cl::Buffer(context, CL_MEM_USE_HOST_PTR, bufferSize2*typeSize2, (void *) &(buffer2[0]));
    cl::Buffer clBuffer3 = cl::Buffer(context, CL_MEM_WRITE_ONLY | CL_MEM_USE_HOST_PTR, bufferSize3*typeSize3, (void *) &(buffer3[0]));
    kernel.setArg(0, clBuffer1);
    kernel.setArg(0, clBuffer2);
    kernel.setArg(0, clBuffer3);
    queue.enqueueNDRangeKernel(kernel, cl::NullRange, cl::NDRange(someValueForRange), cl::NullRange);
    queue.enqueueMapBuffer(clBuffer2, CL_FALSE, CL_MAP_READ, 0, bufferSize2*typeSize2);
    queue.enqueueMapBuffer(clBuffer3, CL_TRUE, CL_MAP_READ, 0, bufferSize3*typeSize3);
    // Do something with retrieved data
    I'm sure there are thousands of less-than-sub optimal memory access patterns in the code above, but for the moment I'm facing this issue: is there a way to modify the size of the cl::Buffer objects without having to reinstantiate them at each iteration of the loop? I fear that this constinuous create/destroy of cl::Buffer objects causes a full reallocation of memory on the CL device at each loop iteration, potentially degrading the overall performance. I think that also a size modification (a' la STL, to be more clear) could result in some memory reallocation, but hopefully less frequently. Or is it better to statically define oversized buffers outside the loop and play with the size arguments of enqueueMapBuffer inside the loop to transfer only the needed range of data to the GPU at each iteration of the loop?
    Sorry for the possibly confusing question but as I said I'm a noob with OpenCL and this particular kind of problem seems to be not very common. Thanks.

    Hi
    First a vector drawing will not work on the web unless you convert it too svg, (only supported on 40% of browsers IE requires a plug-in) or use it within flash. You will have to convert it to gif / jpeg / png. If you convert to png this will retain the transparency for you.
    As to the size, then resizing should be done in illustrator or similar then exported into photoshop or fireworks, and from these use your export for web option, and optimize the image.

  • JDK errors in Multiprocessor with weak memory model

    When reading this article to understand some of the Double-check locking problems :
    I got surprised by point 4. Appart the String example, it means that any build immutable object like build during a single-thread phase have no garanty later in multi-thread phase to be read a in fully initialized state.
    So I checked implentation of some JDK classes to how is managed some static field. The first I checked (in JDK 1.4.1) is Locale.getDefaultLocale().
    LOL in fact it's a case of double-check locking.
    The internal comment is:
    // do not synchronize this method - see 4071298
    // it's OK if more than one default locale happens to be created
    What is 4071298?
    Secondly, setting two times the default locale isn't the problem with Double-check locking.
    So any explanation this is ok? Or it's just a JDK example of wrong Double-check locking?

    When talking about languages that run in a virtual machine, concern yourself only with the virtual machine, because that is where your code will be executed.
    When talking about code that runs in a physical machine, concern yourself with the physical machine (CPU/RAM/etc.) because that is where your code will be executed.
    In summary, concern yourself with the memory model of the machine that will run your code. Which is the Java VM in this case.

  • Managed Beans and Data Access Object

    I have a question / need help understanding how to configure backing bean and model objects so that memory and object creation/deletion is done as efficiently as possible.
    1. I have a .jsf page with a form and a commandbutton that submits the form inputs to a backing bean (enrollispbean is backing bean)
    <h:commandButton value="Enter" action="#{enrollispbean.insert}"/>
    2. The backing bean is used for form handling - the insert() method is used to read the data fields from the form and create a SQL string that will be submitted to a model object, DbInsert, that is used as a generic data access object that connects to the database and insert the SQL string:
    public class EnrollIspBean {
    private String beanvar1="";
    private String beanvar2= "";
    // DbInsert is data access object
    private DbInsert dbinsert = new DbInsert();
    public String insert (){
    String sqlstmt;
    sqlstmt = "INSERT INTO ispmain VALUES(beanvar1, beanvar2,..)"
    dbinsert.insert(sqlstmt);
    return "success"; }
    3. DbInsert is the data access object that contains a method, insert(), that accepts a sql string to insert into the database. This method contains the code to obtain a connection from the database connection pool and then execute the sql statement (note: error checking code not shown):
    public class DbInsert {
    public void insert(String sqlstmt) throws SQLException {
    Connection conn = null;
    GetDBConnection getdbconnection = new GetDBConnection();
    PreparedStatement stmt = null;
    conn = getdbconnection.getdbconn();
    stmt = conn.prepareStatement(sqlstmt);
    stmt.executeUpdate();
    stmt.close();
    conn.close();
    return;
    Where I need help understanding is how to set up the scope for the managed beans and data access object. Currently, I have the backing bean within the session scope (using the facesconfig.xml file). My main question is how to set up the scope for the Data Access Object - currently I do not have it as a managed bean within facesconfig.xml. Instead I am creating a new instance within the backing bean:
    private DbInsert dbinsert = new DbInsert();
    Is this the best way to do this? Will the DBInsert object now be tied to the session scope of the backing bean (i.e., when backing bean is deleted, the DbInsert object will be deleted from session scope as well.)
    Ideally I would like the data access object to be available as a shared object throughout the life of the application. When I was programming using a servlet approach, I would have created a servlet to load on startup. Now that I'm using java server faces, I'm confused about the scope / how to efficiently set up a data access object that I want to be available to all backing beans in the application.
    tnanks for any help understanding this.
    Tom

    I was thinking about setting the data access object as application scope so that it can be used by an backing bean to execute sql statements.
    If I do set it as application scope, however, if I do this, do I still need to declare a new instance of the object from within each bean that uses the object?
    For example do I need to declare a new instance of the data access object from within the bean? or, should I assume that there is always an instance of the bean available in the application scope, and if so, how do I reference it from within the bean?
    Bean Code:
    public class EnrollIspBean {
    // DbInsert is data access object
    private DbInsert dbinsert = new DbInsert();
    Finally, I understand performance may be an issue if I have one instance of the data access object available in the application scope - is there a way to make multiple instances available in the application scope?
    thanks

    Unfortunately there's not really enough information for anyone to help you much. I can tell you've hit an EOF Exception, but that's about it.
    What exactly do you mean by a heavyweight object parameter? Do you mean a large (in memory size) object?
    Without any knowledge of your application, I'd probably start by changing your ejb method to do nothing. That should tell you at least whether it's the serialization of the parameter that's the issue or not. Narrow it down from there.
    If you need more help, printing the entire stack trace of the EOFException and posting it here would be helpful.

    I want to ask something about firefox.
    why firefox use very much memory?
    can you develop to reduce memory comsume?
    this problem is very distrub in my PC with low memory.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    How much memory is Firefox using right now?
    # Press '''CTRL+SHIFT+ESC''' to load the Task Manager window
    # Click the Processes tab at the top. (Click once near the top of the window if you don't see tab
    # Find firefox.exe, and see how many kilobytes of memory it's using.
    Showing around 80MB when Firefox first starts is normal. Right now, I have 75 tabs open and it's using 500MB - this varies a lot depending on what you have in the tabs.
    Other than high memory usage, what other problems are you experiencing? (Examples include slowness, high CPU usage, and failure to load certain sites)
    Many of these issues, including high memory usage, can be caused by misbehaving add-ons. To see if this is the case, try the steps at [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]. Outdated plugins are another cause of this issue - you can check for this at http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck

  • Enhanced protected mode and global named shared memory object

    Good morning.
    I've written a bho that do data exchange with a system service. The service creates named shared memory objects in the Global namespace. Outside appcontainer IE 11 sandboxed everything works fine lowering objects integrity level. Inside the sandboxed environment
    OpenFileMappingW seems to return a valid handle but the calls to MapViewOfFile always gives access denied. What i'm missing? Thank you.

                if (lp != NULL)

    Ciao Ritchie, thanks for coming here. ;-)
    I call (only) OpenFileMapping and MapViewOfFile inside my code and i get access denied at the first try. As i stated before this happens when IE11 is working inside EPM 32/64bit mode, outside EPM it works as it should. However i decided to take a different
    approach to do IPC, because, you want it or not, the service is up and running as SYSTEM... Still i'm really interested about two points:
    1) can i use global kernel objects in EPM mode?
    2) if one is "yes, you can": what's wrong with my code? The security descriptor? Something else?
    Thanks all.

  • H67MA-E45 doesn't start with dual memory channel

    I have just bought an H67MA-E45 motherboard and a brand  new intel i5-2300 processor.
    The pc works fine with a DDR3 1333 memory module on slot DIMM1 (as suggested in the manual),
    but does not seem to work with dual memory channel at all.
    When I install two same memory modules on DIMM1 and DIMM3 (dual channel configuration), I get the following problem: When I power on the computer, it turns on and instantly turns off. Then it powers on again on its own, but does nothing else. I get no beep error codes and the display doesn't show anything.
    I use he on-board display adapter and I have only a sata II hard disk connected, nothing else.
    Any suggestion what the problem might be?
    Is there a way to check if there is a problem with the second memory channel?
    PC details
    Intel(R) Core(TM) I5-2300 CPU@280 GHz
    MSI H67MA-E45 (ms-7678, Lga1155),  Click BIOS, E7678IMS V1.2
    KINGSTON KVR1333D3N9K2/4G DDR3 4GB (2X2GB) PC10666 1333MHZ
    Intel HD Graphics (on board display adapter)
    Seagate Baracuda 7200.9 ST3160811AS 160 GB SATA 2.0
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
    FSP AX500-A Blue Storm, +3.3V~30 A  +5~28A  +12~15A

    My computer is now working only on one channel memory.
    Every time I power the computer on, I get three short beeps, the third one is of slightly different tone. However, the manual does not have the beep codes written down, nor can I find them somewhere for the EFI BIOS (E7678IMS V1.2). Is there any link for the beep codes?
    I tried mounting a single memory slot (KINGSTON KVR1333D3N9K2/2G DDR3 (1X2GB) PC10666 1333MHZ ) on DIMM 3 slot, for the second channel to work on its own. When I powered the computer on, I got the same problem, as if both slots DIMM 1 and DIMM 3 were populated. The mainboard turned on (without any beep code or display on screen) only to instantly turn off. Every while (about every four seconds) it tries to power on again on its own, without any intervention, but instantly turn off again. It may manage to stay turned on at one of the following iterations, without giving any beep code, displaying or loading anything.

  • (BUG?) Oracle Apps Adapter - Unable to setup Concurrent with no parameter

    Hi all.
    I'm facing a problem when using Oracle Apps Adapter 10.1.3.1
    In JDev Adapter Configuration Module Browser, when I want to configure it to execute a concurrent program that has no input parameter, the Module Browser does not work (the OK button does nothing)
    Examples of concurrent with no parameters are:
    1) Discrete Manufacturing->Inventory->Material Transaction->Open Interfaces->Inventory Transaction Open Interface->Concurrent Programs->Material Transactions Interface Manager (This one is the main issue I'm facing)
    2) Supply Chain Management->Shop Floor Management->Lot Based Job->Open Interfaces->Lot Based Job Open Interface->Concurrent Programs->Manager: Lot Move Transactions
    Other concurrents that have parameters all seems to pass in the configuration wizard.
    Does any one know about this issue?
    Thanks.
    Denis

    We've already been in conversation with the AppsAdapter developers about this.
    Part of the problem is that you have to have NLS_LANG set correctly on your PC. So if the NLS_LANG on your Apps install is US then the PC needs to be set like this also.
    I have some documentation which I can forward if you send me your contact details to [email protected]
    Not saying that this will solve all your problems, as we found a few with this adapter but hopefully will put you on the right track.

  • The performance of management system with Java and MySQL

    Hi all,
    I want to develop one management application with Java and MySQL. However I am not sure which is a good way to design the system. The system has to deal with customers' data in the database.
    Should I create objects for every customers when application starts so that I do not need to access to the database often? Or
    Should I access to the database everytime the user want to deal with customer's data?
    Welcome for any suggestion.
    Thank you
