Managed Provider: The data protection operation was unsuccessful.

We just attempted to deploy a new .net 4 web application with the beta managed provider. When attempting to open a new connection, we hit this exception:
The data protection operation was unsuccessful. This may have been caused by not having the user profile loaded for the current thread's user context, which may be the case when the thread is impersonating.
Is there an app pool setting in IIS that we need to change to get this to work? Locally it works fine, so I'm assuming it's some type of permissions issue.

I could provide you with a test case, but honestly it's as simple as it gets - just a blank web forms app that includes the managed provider! Here is the code I have to open the connection:
using System;
using System.Configuration;
using System.Data;
using Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client;
public class CatalogDB : IDisposable
private readonly OracleConnection _conn;
private OracleCommand _oCmd;
private OracleDataAdapter _oDA;
private DataTable _dt;
public CatalogDB()
string connString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["connCBSProd"].ConnectionString;
_conn = new OracleConnection(connString);
_conn.Open(); // EXCEPTION THROWN HERE
Could this be a medium trust issue? The server we're deploying to is also manged by plesk, so there is a virtual guarantee that there is some non-standard setting applied.

  • Retrieve the date a file was created in the background

    EDITED CONTENT----
    Apologies all...I just realized there is a specific forum for this type of question.  I will post it there.
    Thanks Marilyn for point this out>>>>should have read it first as suggested.
    /message/2572763#2572763 [original link is broken]
    Hi guru's,
    I have a custom application that does some windows directory cleaning based an older than 'X' days setting.  I have to do some calculation to determine if the file being processed is older than that number of day and delete it if it is.  To determine the file created date I use the method DIRECTORY_LIST_FILES from CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.  This works great in the foreground but dumps in the background because the handle object reference is not created in the class constructor and subsequently does a call to a "NULL" object.
    My question:
    Does anyone know of a way to get the date a file was created while running in the background?  If not, please read on --- I have another question regarding an alternate approach I am trying.
    I have tried the following approach FM EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING to return an internal table with all files in a directory.  Works fine in the background, but the created date is not in the return values.  Soooooo I looped at the internal table and called this system function:
            CALL 'C_FILE_ATTRIBUTES'
                ID 'NAME'     FIELD tempfile
                ID 'TYPE'     FIELD singleFile-
                ID 'LEN'      FIELD file-len
                ID 'OWNER'    FIELD file-owner
                ID 'MTIME'    FIELD file-mtime
                ID 'MODE'     FIELD file-mode
                ID 'ERRNO'    FIELD file-errno
                ID 'ERRMSG'   FIELD file-errmsg.
    This returns the MTime, which is the Modified time (in Epoch time format: number of seconds since Midnight 1 January 1970), but no created time.  Does anyone know the ID for the created time?  I tried CTIME but no value is returned.
    Along with this question: any idea if a FM or Method exists to convert Epoch time to a standard time.  I could do the calculation myself....but it seems someone would have already done this.  No point in re-creating the wheel.
    Thanks so much,
    Quack

  • Error message: The data for filename was already added to the form

    I recently modified an existing data-collection PDF - only mod was to add some additional pull-down menu options in two fields. I went thru the Distribution wizard, tested the revised form, added the PDF to the Responses file...everything seemed fine. Next day, I distributed the revised form, and had 22 submissions. When adding the 22 submissions to the Response file, 6 or 7 bounced with the error message "The data for <filename> was already added to the form", even though that was not true. I went back, cleared all, and added one of the "bad" files to the response form. It went in OK, but I could not add another "bad one". Although several of the forms may be submitted by the same person, the data is different in all of the submissions, plus, we've been doing this procdure for over a year and never had an issue until now.
    The original form may have been created in Acrobat X, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro. Not sure if that is part or all of the answer. Thanks for any insights...I saw a posting in the Reader side, but I can't see any answers.

    Hi
    According to your error message, we need to verify if Microsoft SQL Server Compact appears in the
    Change Data Source dialog. If not, you need to install
    SQL Server Compact components for Visual Studio firstly, and if you choose to install SQL Server Compact 4.0 , you should note that SQL Server Compact 4.0 supports in Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 or later versions. I recommend you to install the latest
    Service Pack (SP) of SQL Server Compact, and latest SP of Visual Studio, then check if the error still occurs. For more information, see:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlservercompact/archive/2011/03/15/sql-server-compact-4-0-tooling-support-in-visual-studio-2010-sp1-and-visual-web-developer-express-2010-sp1.aspx
    However if there is no problem with the installation of SQL Server Compact, it will be an issue that regards ASP.NET and website deployment. I suggest you to post the question in the ASP.NET forums at
    http://forums.asp.net/ . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
    In addition, you can review the following link:

  • Access status data in the dates on operation for IW32 Tcode

    Hi All,
    In the Transaction IW32 for service order, immediately filling the dates (start on , finish on dates in the dates tab of operation), I want to access the status data for operation. the 2 program are different and I am not able to find in which internal table the status related entries are present. the database table for this is JSTO/JEST
    Is there any FM where I can pass the object number and status name and that status on operation will get saved? so that I can call that Function module in the dates on operation enhancement spot : ES_SAPLCOBO. I have already code written in this enhancement spot for calculating the finish on date from start on date.
    Thanks in advance,

    WHERE   start_datetime >= TRUNC (SYSDATE - 7)
    AND     start_datetime <  TRUNC (SYSDATE - 6)Also, it doesn't look like the EXISTS sub-query is corelated to the main query. That's almost certainly a mistake.

  • How to provide the data directly for the report using web service

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to execute a report from the webservice API (using BIP version 10.1.3.4) and want to provide the report with a pre-fetched data set. According to the Dev-Guide, I should use element /ReportRequest/reportData for this, but I can't find a proper example illustrating this use case. The problem is that I don't know how to enter my data set into the element. My data set is xml (text) while the data type of the reportData element is base64binary.
    I've tried something like the following, but without any success:
    ...<reportData>
           <ns1:rowset>
               <ns1:row>
                   <ns1:emp>
                      <ns1:name>
                   </ns1:emp>
               </ns1:row>
           </ns1:rowset>
       </reportData>
    ...Any help is highly appreciated.

    Hello,
    Thanks for your answer, the situation is a little different from what you describe.
    We make a call to BI Publisher via a Web Service (PublicReportService) via the ReportRequest operation.
    The report we call contains a query to a database.
    When we do not include XML in the reportData field then the report data is obtained from the Database and the report result is returned via the Web Service.
    !http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/photos/full/2863197.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0ZRYP5X5F6FSMBCCSE82&Expires=1235722431&Signature=oboPzLWqQDwB2AGCDCAj3ujHRi4%3D!
    When, however, we include XML data in the reportData field, then we see that ONLY the XML data in the reportData field is used, and NOT data from the Database.

    Is there a possibility to combine the two?

  • We are in urgent need of the end of support date for Firefox 3.6. I have been unable to find this information anywhere. Can someone please provide the date, or a link to the location on the Mozilla web site for lifecycle dates?

    We are currently supporting an older application which will no longer be patched for future browser releases. We need the end of support date, so we can plan accordingly. Any assistance is truly appreciated.

    Hi Tony, and thanks for the reply. I was hoping that might be the case.
    Does Mozilla not publish lifecycle dates for Firefox? The reason I am inquiring further, is that our intention is to have upgraded the product we are currently running by late August of next year. I was trying to determine if 3.6 would be supported through August of 2012. I probably should have been more specific with my initial post.

  • My laptop died last night and the date and time was set for 1/1/2000. I went to change the date and time and cannot. For some reason when i pull up system preferences it will not load date and time but will load other stuff. Please help.

    Last night my laptop died and the time and date was reset. I cannot acess date and time preferences to change it and my laptop is acting really weird. My CD drive is broken so there are no options to put in a cd. Please someone help i need my laptop for school and cannot afford another.

    Many system actions will misbehave, given an inaccurate date. Resetting the NVRAM and / or SMC will not fix it, and if the system has a preposterous date you may not be able to open System Preferences to correct it. This dilemma may or may not be addressed in a future OS X update.
    If you cannot open System Preferences you can reset your system date and time using Terminal.
    Please read everything that follows before proceeding. Write them down if necessary because the effects of setting a preposterous system date are unpredictable.
    Quit System Preferences, force quit if necessary: OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    Open Terminal - it is in your Utilities folder and looks like this
    You can find Terminal by using the Finder's Go menu and choosing Utilities, then double-click the Terminal icon.
    At the prompt, you will be typing a command resembling the following:
    sudo date mmddhhnnyyyy
    ... but you must substitute the actual date and time in the command that corresponds to the date format used for your location. In other words if your custom is to use a date like 8 February 2014 then reverse the mm and dd values.
    Substitute numerals in the above command according to the following:
    mm = month
    dd = date
    hh = hour (24 hour format)
    nn = minutes past the hour
    yyyy = year
    Each of those values must be two digits except for the year which can be two or four digits. As an example if the current date and time is February 8, 2014 at 9 PM your command will be the following:
    sudo date 020821002014
    or
    sudo date 0208210014
    Either one will work. If you enter nonsensical values the system will attempt to parse the entry correctly.
    To recover from your inability to use System Preferences to set the date and time, the value entered does not have to be precise, it just has to be approximate.
    Enter that command using the actual time and date for your location and in the appropriate format, then press the Return key. Terminal will ask for your Admin Password - the same one you use when you log in to your Mac. Type it and then press the Return key. What you type will not appear, not even with •••• characters.
    To determine if your change was effective just type the date command and press the Return key. Terminal will reply with the date and time. If it appears correct and in the correct format, you should be able to open System Preferences > Date & Time once again. Selecting the "Set time and date automatically" and choosing an appropriate time server will adjust your Mac's system clock to the precise time.

  • I cannot tell my servelet users that the data they entered was incorrect.

    HI, I am making a web application which includes a servlet, several java classes and html pages. One of the html pages is a form with all sorts of user inputs (textfields mostly). I know how to use java to determine if the data entered is the correct type that I need for the program (eg, cost needs to be a xx.xxx double, quantity and int between 1-99 ect). What I don't understand how to do is when the user hits submit is to make tell the user somewhere in the web browser (either on the same page or a new page) that their input was incorrect and not try to save it to the program. Then give the user a chance to fix the input and try it again. I don't have the slightest idea of how to start this, but I see web pages do it all the time. I think I'm just using the wrong vocabulary in my search. Could someone please give me an example or at least steer me in the right direction in my search? thanks.

    As a general rule, you do your client side validation in javascript, put error messages in red next to the textfield that has a problem, and dont let the user submit if there are any errors. When the page is submitted back to the servlet, you do the same validation again (to ensure the user didn't turn off javascirpt on their machine, or some hacker tried to get around your client side validation). You also do more through validation on the servlet that wasn't practical to include on the JSP. If server side fails, redisplay the page with the same text in red next to the offending textfield(s). If a more complex error occurs, put an error message in red at the top of the form explaining the problem. If all is ok, put ' **** successful update ****' in green at the top of the page to indicate all went well. If you redraw the page, dont forget to repopulate the page with any unsaved data the user may have previously entered.The general rule is "never trust the client". This applies to validation, security and a host of other concerns. You never know whether a given request actually came from one of your clients. You can do some fancy crypto to attack this problem, but it only kicks the can down the road. Always treat a client request as from an outside source, one that you do not control.
    Any validations you perform on the client are really solely to enrich the user experience, whether that is by giving more immediate feedback (e.g., avoiding a server trip) or highlighting the error on the page or collecting a series of responses ala a wizard before submitting them, etc.
    Now, in terms of performing the same validations in your Servlet, it is a maybe-yes and maybe-no answer. If you have a proper service tier and/or rich domain model, then the validations should be performed there and not in the Servlet. The latter, in this context, is a client like any other. (Imagine you have Struts 2 with a ton of validations, and then all of a sudden you want to add web service support, if the validations are in the VC tier, you are in trouble). If instead your Servlets simply talk directly to DAO's an do the actual business logic, then yes, you can place validations there.
    The idea is that any validations must occur as close to the actual service or business logic that is invoked. You can put them in the VC if you like, but again, this is solely for user experience and should in no way ever impact your analysis of the security of or the validations applied to a given method.

  • Log "date completed" to the date when "completed" was updated to "yes

    Hello,
    I want a workflow to fill "date completed" with the date when "completed" is updated to "yes". I am using Sharepoint Designer 2013.
    I have been through hours of research but I could not find any post clear enough to me. Please do not refer me to ancient threads.
    Thanks!
    PS: Below find what I have tried. It does not return anything in "date completed" in my task list...

    Hi Edouard,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set the ‘CompletedDate’ when the ‘Completed’ is Yes.
    You can set the workflow like the screenshot below:
    And set the workflow started when a new item is created or an item is changed.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • My Mac crashed.  Can I retrieve the data somewhere that was entered before the crash?

    I use numbers to organize all of my work.  I hadn't saved the new information for about a day and a half and my Mac crashed.  That's never happened before.  When i restarted the computer, all of the new data that was entered since the last save was gone.  Is there a way to get that information back?  Isn't there an "autosave" on numbers?  I just feel like I haven't looked in the right place.  I pretty much NEED this info to do my job today and I'm trying not to flip out.  Can someone please help???

    I hope that now you will understand that computers aren't perfect tools and that if you don't take care to save your work from time to time, the chance to loose it is not null.
    If you are unable to press cmd + s by yourself every ten minutes, you may
    go to my iDisk :
    <http://public.me.com/koenigyvan>
    Download :
    for_iWork:autoSave_iWork.zip
    Expand it and install the resulting application.

  • How do I find the date my MacBook was made? Apparently mine is about 6months too old to update to Mountain Lion.

    I recently got a job that requires at least MacOS 10.7. I downloaded Mountain Lion but when I tried to install it, the message said it wouldn't work on mine. I can get a newer MacBook from a friend, that also needs the Mountain Lion update. Before she wastes her money like I did, it would be useful to know when her computer was made.

    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
    To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
           Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later.
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model
                 Identifier 5,1 or later.
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later.
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
    To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
