Managed System Setup / Configure Diagnostics for Solution Manager itself

Hello,
I'm trying to run the "Managed System Setup" for the Solution Manager itself and
I got a problem in the step 4 (Diagnostics Configuration / Configure Diagnostics):
In the new opened window is only the ABAP stack displayed and the Java stack
is missing.
Does somebody know how to make the java stack visible?
From my point of view seems the configuration of the SMSY ok. The java stack is also
as "relevant" set.
The Solution Manger 7.0 EHP1 is on SP25.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Kind regards,
Joern

Hi Jorn,
I dont think its happening just because of your CR Content.
Still If you want to update it,then go to Administration Tab in SLD->>Import the latest CR Content from there.
As the latest CR Content is :SAP CR Content Version (sld/active):     SAP_CR 7.6 (produced 11/17/2011)
And Jorn if you are stucked in the Diagnostic Agent registration then Go to Agent Candidate Administration->>In connection
Parameters Tab go to->>Custom SLD Connection Parameters->>Apply->>Mark the Diagnostic Agent you want to
connect->>Attach->>Give the password of the SMD_ADMIN->>Apply->>This way you will connect to the available Diagnostic
Agent.Hope this will help your problem.
Thanks & Regards

  • How to configure CTS+ for Solution Manager for XI 3.0

    Hi ,
We are working on XI 3.0 SP 20 and Doing a file system based transport of .TPZ files. We observed that there is a possibilit of misssing the objects while tranporting. So we are planning to set CTS+ with our Solution Manager.
    Question:
    1. Can we configure CTS+ through the latest version of Solution Manager for XI 3.0 landscape?
If Yes .. How?   If No... Why?
    2. Is there any way to make the the transport automated like ABAP tranports.
If there is.... Please send the link or documents..
    Thanks
    Manoj

    Hi Venkat,
Thank you for the Demo. The Demo gives me information about the CTS+ setup. I am looking for the compatability of CTS+ for XI 3.0.
We have Solution Manager 7.1 setup in place.
Please let us know if we can setup CTS+ on solution Manager (7.01 EHP1) and use it to transport XI 3.0 SP20 IR/ID objects  across  the XI landscape.

  • Required "/" (root) file system size on UNIX for Solution Manager.

    Hello SAP Gurus,
I am setting up SAP Solution Manager 3.2 on HP-UX. It is asking me about 350MB free sapce on "/" file system for Central Instance installation and about 120MB free sapce on "/" file system for Database Instance installation.
I am installaing everything on to shared disk which mounted under /usr/sap. Why it needs free sapce in "/" file system. Is there any workaround to get rid of this requirement, as I have very less free sapce on "/" file system and I don't want to take the risks involved in increasing this size.
Are there any SAP recommended sizes for "/" file system?
I stuck in the middle of setting up SAP landscape on HP-UX (11.23). I searched through the Installation documents but I couldn't find any thing helpful in this regard. It is urgent requirement to set up this so please let me know any solution or workaround ASAP.
       Any help is greatly appriciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vaibhav.
Normally "canonical path not available for (folder name)" means:
    1. Wrong username/password. Please double check you credentials.
    2. The resource cannot be linked from the portal server. Please be sure that you can connect to the next ports in windows server from the Unix Server:
    a. NetBIOS Session Service TCP 139 This port is used to connect file shares for example.
    b. TCP 445 The SMB (Server Message Block) protocol is used among other things for file sharing in Windows NT/2000/XP. In windows NT it ran on top of NetBT (NetBIOS over TCP/IP), which used the famous ports 137, 138 (UDP) and 139 (TCP). In Windows 2000/XP/2003, Microsoft added the possibility to run SMB directly over TCP/IP, without the extra layer of NetBT. For this they use TCP port 445.
I hope these things help somebody.

  • Optimal system setup / configuration

    Hello -
Any suggestions / advice on how to optimize my system for running the FCS (version 2 or 3) and possibly obtain real-time editing performance with just simple transitions, titles, color correcting, audio sweetening?
    My current setup:
    2009 MacPro 2x2.26ghz
    16gb RAM
    ATI 4870
    HDD =
    BAY 1 = 640gb = MAC OS
    BAY 2 = 500gb/7200/16mb (formatted as Mac x-journal)
BAY 3 = 500gb/7200/16mb (formatted as Win NTFS)
BAY 4 = 500gb/7200/16mb (currently have B/C running Win 7 on this one)
    2x24" Monitors
(still researching on getting some decent monitors for audio; currently just using headphones)
    What I'll be editing:
    VIDEO
    - Analogue tape (Hi-8, VHS)
    - Digital tapes (Mini-DV shot with XL1 and Sony PD150 cams)
    - 5D MK2 files
    PHOTOS
    - Still photos from P&S cameras as well as the 5D MK2
    AUDIO
    - Audio (on camera audio, off camera audio like from a H4n type of device, pre-mixed CD's, SmartSound, Soundtrack, GarageBand compositions)
If there is a link to a different thread, website or PDF that has all this kind of info., please post that or those links; much appreciate it.

  • Documentation for Solution Manager 4

    Hi all!
    I’am going crasy…..
At the moment I ‘am just customizing the solution manager 4. In the reference guide – section “create background jobs” – they refer to the configuration guide of the solution manager 4. 0 to get a complete list of background jobs for the solution manager 4.0.
I’ve downloaded the configuration guide for solution manager 4.0 but there is no information about this. I know the place of documentation on the sap market “\solutionmanager”.
    Did anybody know something more?
    Thank you for help!
    Best regards
    Thomas

    Hello Thomas,
Please in spro go to Basic Settings->SAP Solution Manager System->Schedule Background Jobs
The information of this point is more than enough to configure these jobs.
In a previous Configuration Guide you can see:
    Periodic Jobs
    Periodic Job scenario
REFRESH MESSAGE STATUS used to collect responses from SAP for messages
and Issues sent from the SAP Solution Manager
    SOLMAN_ISSUE_STATUS_REFRESH Service Desk
    SM:SCHEDULER Solution Monitoring
    BTC_CMS_COLLECTOR Change Manager
    LANDSCAPE_FETCH Implementation and distribution

  • Undocumented configuration parameters for FP2000

I have been looking at the configuration of my FP2000 system, and there are settings that I cannot find discussed in the documentation. In the configuration box for the FP2000 itself, there is a parameter called "pause" that is in msec. What does this do? In the configuration of each of the modules, there is a parameter called "retry count". I have a pretty good idea of what this means, but I would like to see a detailed explanation so I can be sure that I am setting it properly. Can someone please tell me where these are discussed? I have looked through the online help with FieldPoint Explorer, and have read through the pdf manual of the FP2000 itself.
    Rich

The Retry Count is a communications parameter, to get it's description (and the description of any paramter in FieldPoint Explorer), you can place the mouse cursor over the paramater and press F1. The description of Retry Count is: The number of times the FieldPoint server retries communication after an error with a FieldPoint device before it terminates a communication transaction.
The description for Pause is: Time to sleep for the bank between its data scan cycle. Set this value (1-1000) to give your embedded LabVIEW RT application more CPU time.
In a more detailed explanation: The Pause setting controls how long the IA Control Environment goes to "sleep". FP-20XX modules have two processes running in them at all times; the IA Control Environment an
d the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. The processor has to share time/computation power between both processes. By changing the priority levels of VI's or by changing the pause parameter, you can control how much processor time is spent on the LabVIEW engine vs the IA Control Environement. By setting the pause parameter, you can have the IA Control Environemt put itself to sleep for periods of time. The IA Control Environment is the portion of the code that publishes FieldPoint data over the ethernet (e.g. making the FP-20XX publish data like a FP-1600 or FP-1601). By putting it to sleep for periods of time, it will delay reading I/O modules, writing to I/O modules (sent commands are not lost but are queued up waiting for the sleep period to end), and transmitting changed data values.

If you goto http://server:port/smd >>> Diagnostic Setup >>> Diagnostic System >>> Setup Wizard, do you have a message similar to:
Last Diagnostics setup wizard execution on Tue Oct 09 13:34:44 2007 :

  • Managed System Configuration Error for MDM 7.1 SP09

Greetings, Needed your expert advise. We are getting an error while configuring our MDM Servers (Version 7.1.08.196) in Solution Manager. As suggested in SAP Note  1798643 , I have manually filled the required details and transferred through sldreg.exe to SLD. Now when i try to perform Managed System Configuration, it is throwing the below error. The definition of Technical System '~MDM' is not correct: '~MDM': No Path found in Installed Technical System 'SID~MDM~'. I'm not sure how to manually update the Install Path for our MDM Servers. Since, the data to LMDB is automatically supplied, I might not be able to manually edit anything. Could you please advise if there is any step to solve this issue. Thanks, Haseeb Ahmed.

    Dear ,
    Haseeb,
I had the exact same problem with MDM managed system setup . I was on MDM 7.1 SP10.
    1940337 - RCA template for Solution Manager 7.10 SP10
This note should resolve your problem. This note has the updated template for MDM.
    It did for mine

  • System copy guide for Solution Manager 7.0 SPS15

    Hello,
a new hardware is needed for our SAP Solution Manager 7.0 SPS 15. I will install a new SAP Solution Manager and do a system copy from the old hardware to the new one. There is no migration neccessary, because OS and DB will be the same.
Now I'm searching for some informations and guides to do a system copy of a SAP Solution Manager. All I found was a system copy guide of Netweaver 04s SR3/SR2 with informations about Java Usage Types but not for Diagnostics.
Are there any guides or howtos to do a system copy with SAP Solution Manager ABAP+JAVA? Does anyone have experiences and advices?
    Kind regards,
    Sascha Piotrowsky

    > Looking forwards to this event I'm afraid of forgetting some dependencies or configurations which have to be changed also, like SMD-Agents configuration,s trusted connections, wiley introscope, e2e and so on.
Wily is not part of the copy - you will need to copy this "manually". The connections et al must be re-done...

There is no "message inbox" in satellite systems, but you can use the SAP Solution Manager to have a central access to all reported messages.
Configure Work Center "Incident Management" in SAP Solution Manager and grant access for message reporters.
See answers to similar question in accessing the service desk message from satellite system
