Managing a deployed CEP application

Hi all
After the CEP server managed to deploy and start my application, I have a few initialization steps to perform myself (reading configuration file, etc.). I want to be able to undeploy the application in case any of these steps fail.
I tried using the code example found on the AppDeploymentMBean documentation ( [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/doc.1111/e14303/toc.htm] ), but I keep getting a - java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect - exception from the connect method on the second line.
I don't have much experience with JMX or management beans, so I'll appreciate any help you can provide.
Also, If you think there's a better way to perform this, I'd like to hear it.
Thanks,
Roy

Hi Roy,
CEP is built on Spring DM. Thus the spring bean lifecycle and OSGI lifecycle apply to a CEP application. Beside that, we also support CEP specific lifecycle management.
Here is an instruction for it:
1) spring lifecycle interface:
InitializingBean, DisposableBean
2) osgi lifecycle interface:
You can implement your own activator to start/stop your application. You need to implement BundleActivator
3) cep lifecycle interface:
This might be what you want.
In order to process application configuration, you can use @Prepare, @Activate @Rollback.
spring-like lifecycle interfaces: RunnableBean, ActivatableBean,SuspendableBean,ResumableBean
As for the detail please go through the CEP docs.

  • Deploying ADF application to a managed weblogic server - ADF security error

    Hi,
Our group has written an ADF web application, which we are attempting to deploy to a managed weblogic server. Thus far, we have been unsuccessful. The application does successfully deploy to the AdminServer. Our setup:
Weblogic version is 10.3.0. Domain name is adf_domain. We have installed the ADF (ADF version is 11.1.1.0.0), JSTL(1.2.0.1), and JSF(1.2.7.1) runtime libraries, and they are targeted to both the admin server AND the managed server, which is called CollabServer. This server communicates with the node manager and can be started and stopped via the admin console successfully. The AdminServer is on port 7101, and the CollabServer is on port 7104. We are not using SSL.
    application.xml:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <application xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/application_5.xsd"

    </weblogic-web-app>
As I said, there are no deployment errors when we deploy to the admin server. However, we always see the following errors when deploying to the managed server:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.security.jps.wls.listeners.JpsApplicationLifecycleListener
    etc.
This error occurs when deploying via the <wldeploy> ant task included with weblogic, and when deploying the application manually via the admin console.
So I removed this from weblogic-application.xml:
    <listener>
    <listener-class>oracle.security.jps.wls.listeners.JpsApplicationLifecycleListener</listener-class>
    </listener>
Which resolved the initial error (I assume there is some sort of bug that causes this workaround to be necessary). The next error is this:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adf.share.security.authentication.AuthenticationServlet
Again, we don't get this error when deploying to the AdminServer - ONLY the managed server CollabServer.
    web.xml:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>adfAuthentication</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>oracle.adf.share.security.authentication.AuthenticationServlet</servlet-class>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>adfAuthentication</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/adfAuthentication/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
I then added some adf jar files to the ear file, finally get this error message:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adf.share.jsp.ADFLibUtils
Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks.

    Dan,
    thanks fro reminding me :-)
Here are the steps we had to take to get a managed WLS to run an adf application without copying any jar in the domain/lib directory:
    1. you still have to install the adf runtime to any server you want the adf application to deploy to
    2. open the admin console, select the managed server, and select the 'server start' tab in configutation settings.
    3. add /u01/bea/patch_wls1030/profiles/default/sys_manifest_classpath/weblogic_patch.jar:/u01/bea/patch_jdev1111/profiles/default/sys_manifest_classpath/weblogic_patch.jar:

    /u01/bea/wlserver_103/common/eval/pointbase/lib/pbclient57.jar:/u01/bea/wlserver_103/server/lib/xqrl.jar:
/u01/bea/patch_wls1030/profiles/default/sysext_manifest_classpath/weblogic_ext_patch.jar to the classpath edit box you have to change '/u01/bea/' with your bea home. The classpath should be on one line without the CR/LF i put in to make it readable.
    4. add -Xms256m -Xmx512m -da -Dplatform.home=/u01/bea/wlserver_103 -Dwls.home=/u01/bea/wlserver_103/server -Dweblogic.home=/u01/bea/wlserver_103/server

    -Dweblogic.management.username=weblogic -Dweblogic.management.password=******** -Dweblogic.Name=GESTIS_QS
-Djava.security.policy=/u01/bea/wlserver_103/server/lib/weblogic.policy to the 'Arguments' edit box. As with the calsspath change '/u01/bea' to your bea home and change the domain name (in our case 'naa_qs') to your domain name. change the managementuser and passwort to your needs. As whith the classpath I put some CR/LF into the code section to make it readable.
    5. save the changes and restart the server
Essentially all we copied the arguments from the admin server start script in addition to adding the class path.

I think there is some thing missing in my configurations. Can you please tell how to deploy and run a hibernate application. Is there any problem occurs while accessing another DataBase from Oracle Content Management? What are the setting I have to do for running a hibernate application from Oracle CMSDK?
    Thanks in advance
    Basil

    Hi,
I got the solution for my problem. The error came because of the hibernate pooling. I removed the hibernate pooling lines from my hibernate configuration file and it is working fine.lines
    Thanks

  • Dynamic deployed web application doesnt' work in managed server

    Hi:
Can anyone tell me what I have done wrong:
    1. I create a new web application DYNAMICALLY (i.e. copy directory to
    applications directory)
    2. I assigned one of the managed server as target for the new
    application
    3. Restart managed server
    4. Try to access the new application in managed server, and get error
    message:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is
given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the
client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone)
status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally
configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and
    has no forwarding address.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

See my answer to your last post. The short answer is that the HttpClusterServlet is
likely to be the problem and not the cluster. You can try one of the web server plugins
or a hardware load balancer as a temporary workaround. You should file a case with
              support too...

  • Deploying a application in a managed server

    Hi
I was trying to deploy a Webapp in a managed server, but I got following error, does anybody know how to fix this.
"Exception:weblogic.management.ApplicationException: Application <MyAppsName> is packaged using the WebLogic Split Development Directory structure. The Split Development Directory structure can only be used in development environments with a single WebLogic Server. If you wish to deploy this application to a separate managed server or cluster, use the wlpackage ant task to create an exploded or archived EAR. "
    Regards
    Vijay

As it suggests, deploy your WebApp on the cluster/managed server as WAR and not in exploded format.
    Cheers!

  • Serious problems deploying web application with enterprise manager

    Hi all,
First I have to say that this thing that has happened to me today is freaking bizarre... I was trying to make a new deployment of a web application on OAS 10.1.2, using the Enterprise Manager. The application is using Spring and DWR, therefore it has some XML files included. The application worked perfect in JDeveloper 9.0.4, our development tool, and I've previously developed very similar applications in the past, and deployed them on the same server without any problem.
Today, when I was trying to deploy my .ear file, I got this error message:
The file specified, "FindAnExpert.ear" is not a valid ear file.
I tried with the .war file, and this happened:
    Base Exception:
    java.util.zip.ZipException
invalid END header (bad central directory offset). invalid END header (bad central directory offset)
I checked that all the included .jar files were fine, I even replaced them with new ones. I started to remove files from the .war file and discovered that without the XML files I was able to deploy the application. Then I copied over those XML files through FTP and the application is working correctly, but I was not able to use the Enterprise Manager to deploy it!!! The XML files are well formed, on of them contains the details of a data source that I also reviewed to be sure that it was correctly configured... This is nuts... any ideas over there???
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis

    Luis,
If all of the files uploaded piecemeal worked fine, then I believe your problem to be with your deployment descriptor(s). Also, note that the .war file lives in a different directory:
    C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications\Application-Name
Perhaps if you have time you could post all of the associated deployment descriptor files. Log files from the C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\log\oc4j directory would also help to troubleshoot your deployment issues. You can turn up the logging level to "FINEST" for maximum output to your log file.

  • Deploying an Application with Managed Libraries

    Hi,
I am trying to deploy an Applicaition on Oracle App Server 10.1.3.
I develop the application in Jdev 1013
in my JDeveloper descriptor, i edit the Properties - File Groups/Web-INF/lib - Filters, i deselect the Merged contents.
    Create a war file.
All libraries that are required [ie. present in the list JDeveloper descriptor, i edit the Properties - File Groups/Web-INF/lib - Filters,], i jar them to create Portal.jar.
i place the jar at D:\Temp\Portal.jar.
This location is on the same machine where the Oracle App Server Runs.
I log into the Oracle Application Server - Enterprise Manager, and Create an entry in oc4J:home - Shared Libraries
Specify the Path where the Portal.jar exists.
I then deploy the Application specifing the location where the .war file is present. - procedure is Deploy-Select Archive - Application Attributes.
In Deploy settings, i click on Deployment Tasks - Configure Class Loading, i go to Import Shared Libraries and check Portal, and then I click on Deploy.
I then get Deploying Application Failed with the following Errors
    Aug 19, 2006 2:54:02 PM] Exception: NoClassDefFoundError: javax/faces/FacesException
[Aug 19, 2006 2:54:02 PM] Operation failed with error: javax/faces/FacesException
    I don't understand why?
My need is that all Libraries that are required by the Application, I Jar it and place it as a Shared Library on the Server. So whenever i deploy an application it should include the shared libraries present on the server.
This would ensure my war file is small.
Instead of all my applications inculding the jar files in thier respietice war files, i would like to place the requiste war in a single place on the Server and link the application to use that shared library war.
    Thanks in advance
    Vishnu

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I discovered that the path had to be
within the site folder. Even when I referenced it, the images
wouldn't show. However, when I placed that folder inside the site
folder itself, everything showed up fine. For some reason, any
assets must be inside the site folder itself and cannot be
referenced if it lay outside. Oh well, it all shows now.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to deploy CEP sample application

In the following page there is a bunch of samples concerning SOA suite.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/techpreview/index.html
I tried the CEP sample, but when I get to the point when I deploy the Application on the Server, it fails.
The problem is that the deploy instructions for this certain sample are different from the rest of the samples that I went through.
The difference is that the tutorial says "right clilck on composite.xml and then Run", but there is no Run option when right-clicking the composite.xml.
However, when I Run the project, it asks for a Runnable Target. I used <application_name>.jws as the run target. I get the message - "Application Deployed", but it doesn't work. It is supposed to read my input xml and produce an output xml. It should also delete the input xml. None of these are happening.
I would appreciate any help regarding this.
    Thank you.

I just went to Project Properties -> Run/Debug/Profile and Edit
    the Default Profile.
From there I deleted the default target and I clicked Ok.
Now we can run the composite.xml and it works fine

  • Additional software manages deployment of applications

I'd like to utilize "Additional software manages deployment of applications"  option in Client Settings (using SCCM 2012 R2).
Need to write a SDK to manually kick off the deployment for certain collections with a 24/7 business hour and zero maintenance window.
Anyone has ideas or if a class is available to do this?  I need the ability to start the deployment on individual machine one by one and not entire collection.

    Hi, katiedonut.
If your intent is to immediately start a deployment then the 3rd party deployment facility activated by that setting may not be appropriate as it is basically an entire replacement of the whole Application/Updates facility within the client.
That seems a bit heavyweight for what you're trying to do.
You may be better served by having a scheduled task or listener service that runs on the client that can invoke the installation methods in the root\ccm\clientsdk classes (these are also what Software Center uses) if you have a time sensitive need to
    run something right away.
If you do need to go the native 3rd party client route that the "Additional software" setting enables you'll need to work with an account manager or CSS as we don't publish this on MSDN.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Do we need to manually deploy the application at all region if we want to use Traffic Manager

    Hi Team,
I am little confused before I want to start work on Azure Traffic Manager.
Actually I have one site at East US. now I want to use Traffic Manager. so, I probably need to deploy the site on different region. take an example we deploy on East Asia and West US.
Now, we have same site deployment at 3 region. we can setup traffic manager based on loan balance/ round robin/ failover.
But the question here is Do we need to deploy the same site at all 3 region manually (one-by-one).
Through Visual Studio or FTP, we need to keep that deployment whenever we keep updating the site? Support we have little complex scenario where we create 3 traffic managers based on their each type (like load balance, round robin and failover) at top we
have 1 traffic manager where we have these 3 configured. each of these might have site in 3 different region then probably we will have around 1 same site at-least around 9 region.
So, whenever we have any changes, we need redeploy that on each region one by one?
    Regards, Brijesh Shah

    Hi Brij,
Traffic Manager is separate from the underlying sites.  So yes, you will need to manage the deployment of those sites separately from Traffic Manager.  How easy or difficult that is depends on what kind of site you are using (PaaS?  IaaS?
Websites?) and how it is architected (is there a back-end database?)
Traffic Manager supports the ability to enable/disable endpoints, which allows you to easily divert traffic away from a particular site whilst it is being updated.

There is no guideline I know of as this depends on the app itself.
What you should do is to deploy the application onto a test server and check the metrics of the app over a defined period of time with a defined amount of traffic.

  • Unable to deploy ADF application to weblogic server

    Hi,
We are developing ADF application using jDeveloper 11.1.1.1 and deploying to Weblogic Server 10.3.1. The application is working without any problems on 10.3.1 wblogic platform.
We procured new 64 bit hardware and installed weblogic 10.3.2 and jdeveloper 11.1.1.2 on windows platform. When we are deploying the application developed using jdeveloper 11.1.1.1 on the new platform we are getting the following exception.
An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
    [J2EE:160149]Error while processing library references. Unresolved application library references, defined in weblogic-application.xml: [Extension-Name: adf.oracle.domain, Implementation-Version: 11.1.1.1.0, exact-match: false], [Extension-Name: oracle.jsp.next, exact-match: false].
Can you please provide some suggestions to debug the problem.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

    Hi,
I have tried deploying the application using jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0, But this time I am getting the following error after commenting the following lines in weblogic-application.xml. I have removed the following lines as I am getting classnot found exception for oracle.adf.share.weblogic.listeners.ADFApplicationLifecycleListener and oracle.mds.lcm.weblogic.WLLifecycleListener.
If I deployed the application on the admin server, The application is working with out any problems. I am having problems only on Managed Server at the time of deployment.

I installed weblogic with the following steps.
    1. Install weblogic 10.3.2 (64 bit)
    2. Install jdeveloper (ADF runtime only)
    3. Launch configuration wizard.
    4. create domain.
    5. extend domain with jrf libraries.
    5. create managed server
