XMLType toobject return invalid number while providing the XML Schema/DTD

We are exploring an option of converting XML into an oracle object and found toobject procedure that does the job. It works fine without XML Schema and provides XML data as oracle object. But it takes more time in parsing the XML since it uses canonical mapping. I hope by providing XML Schema we can improve the performance of this procedure. However when we use toobject with XML Schema it reports error as INVALID NUMBER irrespective of the input XML changes. Could anyone help me in this regard?

Sorry
The option of using toObect() to get an instance of the object that was creaed by regidsteing an XML Schema with the database, or which is associated with an XML Schema that has been registered with the database is depricated and will be removed in the next release. The main reason for this is that we reserve the right to change the structure, naming conventions or any other aspects of the object model we dervie from an XML schema, even as a result of a one-off patch, and consequently any code that was written to rely on this mapping would be broken on a regular basis.
We do gurantee that code that uses the XML abstraction (eg XPATH/XQUERY) to access the content of the XML will work unchanged...
In you case you have 2 options...
1. Use the canonical mapping mechansim
2. Write code that instantiates the objects from the outpiut of an XMLTable...

    Hi Aruna,
    It seems a dictionary error but it doesn't occurs to me. I can download the XML schema without problems in SAP ECC 6.0.

  • ORA-01722  Invalid Number while executing the Query

    Hi Friends,  need your valuable suggestions.
    We have a DSO with a   characteristic info object  ZDAT (DATA TYPE DATS)  with a reference from 0DATE.
    I am able to see the data of the info object ZDAT using LIST CUBE on the DSO.
    While using this info object ZDAT in the query moniter or bex analyzer it shows the  following errors.
    EORA-01722: invalid number .
    EError reading the data of InfoProvider.
    EError while reading data; navigation is possible
    I>> Row: 71 Inc: NEXT_PACKAGE Prog: CL_SQL_RESULT_SET.
    Kindly please help me on this issue.

    Hello soumya
    Can you check if you have any NULL values in ZDAT in from LISTCUBE?
    If yes, check the note below
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1327167.
    If null value is your problem, you can change the query setting for not to show the null values. Just add a filter in ZDAT to exclude "NULL"

    I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
    By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
    Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

  • Ignoring the DOCTYPE element while parsing the xml

    I am using JAXB parser to read from and write into my xml file using java code. My xml file contains a DOCTYPE element pointing to a .dtd file which does not exist, due to which I get a FileNotFoundException when JAXB tries to read the xml file. Hence, after unmarshalling the xml file using jaxb, I use a SAXParser to get an XMLReader which removes this DOCTYPE element as given below -
    SAXParserFactory parserFactory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
    parserFactory.setValidating(false);
    XMLReader reader = parserFactory.newSAXParser().getXMLReader();
    reader.setFeature("http://apache.org/xml/features/nonvalidating/load-external-dtd", false);
    After making the required changes to the xml file and marshalling it back, I then use an XMLWriter to add the DOCTYPE element back to the xml file as given in the code snippet below -
    SAXReader saxReader = new SAXReader();
    Document document = saxReader.read(_file);
    document.addDocType(rootElement, publicUri, systemUri);
    XMLWriter output = new XMLWriter(new FileWriter( _file ));
    output.write( document );
    output.close();
    Right now I am using both, the JAXB parser to read from and write into the xml file and SAXParser/SAXRader just to delete/add the DOCTYPE element. I want to avoid using two different parsers in my class and want to know if JAXB provides any mechanism to delete and then add this element while parsing the xml file.

    Standard answer for this FAQ: set an EntityResolver on your parser that sends an empty string instead of the DTD. The API docs have an example that you could modify to do that.

  • Apply XSLT  while importing the xml to the selected node in structure view

    Hi All,
    I would like to apply XSLT while importing the xml file to the selected node in the structure view.
    How to go about it?
    Thanks

    Hi All,
       Got the solution,
                    UIDRef documentUIDRef = ::GetUIDRef(activeContext->GetContextDocument());
                InterfacePtr<IDocument> document(documentUIDRef, UseDefaultIID());
                InterfacePtr<IXMLImportOptionsPool> prefsPool( document->GetDocWorkSpace(), UseDefaultIID() );
                InterfacePtr<IK2ServiceRegistry> serviceRegistry(gSession, UseDefaultIID());
                InterfacePtr<IK2ServiceProvider> serviceProvider(serviceRegistry->QueryServiceProviderByClassID(kXMLImportMatchMakerSignal Service,     kXMLThrowAwayUnmatchedRightMatchMakerServiceBoss));
                InterfacePtr<IXMLImportPreferences> prefs(serviceProvider, IID_IXMLIMPORTPREFERENCES);
                XMLImportPreferencesInitializer initializer(prefs, prefsPool);
                bool16 prefBool = prefs->GetNthPrefAsBool(0);
                prefs->SetNthPref(0, kTrue);
    The above code set the import option "Delete elements, frames, and content that do not match imported XML"
    Thanks

  • Where to find the Xml Schema details of the ABODE extension(xmlns:ADBE) for the JDF

    Hi There,
    I had been working on dynamic creation of JDF file for processing the job via Adode PDF print Engine. However, I need to know the various JDF attribtues which were available in the adode namespace [xmlns:ADBE="http://ns.adobe.com/JDF" this link was no more accessible via internet]
    Could you please provide with the link where i can find the adobe namespace details. OR
    Can some provide me the xml schema file for the adobe extension ?
    please reply asap.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Steve,
    Generally when you need to find out parameters you would test a working one to see what is present so you can just replicate this.
    Therefore I would suggest that you set the Business partner subscription for the xml site type and other required settings.  Then make a change to a business partner and see the output of the xml file to see the parameters you will need.
    Hope this gets you on the right path for the solution.
    Cheers

    Hi
    I am new to Oracle but not to VS. I have downloaded and installed the newest tools for Developer, having first tried the install for VS2003.net (which refused to install on my VS 2005.) I got the beta download and installed it, but my oracle explorer shows nothing. Any attempt to add a connection results in an error ORA-12560:TNS:protocol adaptor error. I had the full install of 10g r2 on my notebook, but removed it and opted for the XE version. I removed the Oracle_Home environment variable prior to installing XE. I am trying to connect to the HR database, and the account is unlocked. I saw a reference to the tnsfiles file, and that seems to be the problem, but I don't know what to do about it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.

  • To_number function return Invalid number

    Dear All,
    We have problem recently regarding one of our query that using to_number function. It worked smoothly for 4-5 years until recently our client complaints that the query is returning error ORA-01722: invalid number.
    This is the SQL Script -> SELECT * FROM <table_name> WHERE to_number(b) between :param1 and :param2;
    * Column b is defined as VARCHAR2(20)
    First thing that come to my mind is this error is due to invalid value entered by user. Using the solutions provided by users in this forum and internet, I created SQL a function that checks whether the value is numeric or not.
    So, when I run the query (+SELECT b from <table_name> WHERE is_numeric(b) = 0 AND ROWNUM < 20+) this is the result that I get.
    b
    251567
    251568
    251569
    251570
    251571
    (Up to 11 record; value from 251567 - 251577)
    Is there any limitation on the maximum value that can be converted using to_number* function?*
    I have search the solutions over the internet and I accept the solution/recommendation that we should not store numeric value on varchar/char column; but I hope somebody can explain why I can't use to_number to convert the above figures to numeric, because when I execute SELECT to_number('251567') FROM DUAL it doesn't returned any error)
    Thank you in advance for any help or clarification on this issue.

    Funny answer, Billy!
    Sounds like: The world is evil, so you have 3 choices:
    1. Implement a good world
    2. Be a bad guy, too
    3. Live with that bad world and its consequences
    I guess, 930427 only asked for some protection...
    If one has to deal with two external system to move data from one to another - you can't change either of these systems (1 or 2) and you can't afford to fail (3).
    Sometimes blanks inside the numeric values are the reason for INVALID NUMBER, i.e. "123 456".
    as simple
    to_number(replace(VALUE_CHAR, ' ', NULL))
    may help...

  • New table without statistics returns invalid number of rows

    Hi,
    I've been searching for a while now for an explanation for the following "problem"
    We have an Oracle 11.1.0.7 database on AIX5.3
    In this database we have two tables, called KRT_PRODUCTS_INFO and KRT_STRUCTURES_INFO ( the table name don't really matter ).
    The scenario is as following:
    If we recreate these tables like:
    CREATE TABLE KRT_PRODUCT_INFO_BUP AS SELECT * FROM KRT_PRODUCT_INFO;
    DROP TABLE KRT_PRODUCT_INFO CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    CREATE TABLE KRT_PRODUCT_INFO (...) TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOLOGGING NOCOMPRESS NOCACHE NOPARALLEL MONITORING;
    CREATE INDEX KRT_PRODUCT_INFO_X1 ON KRT_PRODUCT_INFO (PRODUCT_NUMBER) NOLOGGING TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOPARALLEL;
    CREATE INDEX KRT_PRODUCT_INFO_X2 ON KRT_PRODUCT_INFO (PIM_ARTICLEREVISIONID) NOLOGGING TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOPARALLEL;
    INSERT INTO KRT_PRODUCT_INFO (SELECT * FROM KRT_PRODUCT_INFO_BUP);
    COMMIT;
    CREATE TABLE KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO_BUP AS SELECT * FROM KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO;
    DROP TABLE KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    CREATE TABLE KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO (...) TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOLOGGING NOCOMPRESS NOCACHE NOPARALLEL MONITORING;
    CREATE INDEX KRT_STRUCTURES_X1 ON KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO (STRUCTURE_GRP_REV_ID) NOLOGGING TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOPARALLEL;
    CREATE INDEX KRT_STRUCTURES_X2 ON KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO (STRUCTURE_GRP_IDENTIFIER) NOLOGGING TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOPARALLEL;
    CREATE INDEX KRT_STRUCTURES_X3 ON KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO (STRUCTURE_GRP_ID) NOLOGGING TABLESPACE PIM_DATA NOPARALLEL;
    INSERT INTO KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO (SELECT * FROM KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO_BUP);
    COMMIT;
    and we run a complex query with these two tables, this query only return a couple of rows ( exactly 24 !!! )
    If we however generate statistics on these tables after creation, the correct number of rows is returned, being 1.167.991 rows
    The statistics are gathered using:
    BEGIN
    SYS.DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS (
    OwnName => 'PIM_KRG'
    ,TabName => 'KRT_PRODUCT_INFO'
    ,Estimate_Percent => NULL
    ,Method_Opt => 'FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE REPEAT '
    ,Degree => NULL
    ,Cascade => TRUE
    ,No_Invalidate => FALSE);
    END;
    BEGIN
    SYS.DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS (
    OwnName => 'PIM_KRG'
    ,TabName => 'KRT_STRUCTURE_INFO'
    ,Estimate_Percent => NULL
    ,Method_Opt => 'FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE REPEAT '
    ,Degree => NULL
    ,Cascade => TRUE
    ,No_Invalidate => FALSE);
    END;
    /I can imagine that the 'plan' for the query used is wrong because of missing statistics.
    But I can't imagine that it would actually return an incorrect number of rows.
    I tested this behaviour in Toad and sqlplus ( first thought it was Toad ), and both behave the same.
    Another fact is, that the "problem" is NOT reproducable on our TEST environment, that runs on Oracle 11.1.0.7 on Windows2008
    Just to be sure this is the "complex" query used. It is not developed by me, and I think it looks somewhat strange but that shouldn't matter:

    Do you happen to have the same table names occurring in multiple schemas - the query is then referencing the data in the wrong schema ?
    Hemant K ChitaleHi,
    This is not the case. The KRAMP_HPM schema's are application dedicated schema's
    And this also then does not explain why the results are correct after generating statistics.

    It it comes as a text convert it to date TO_DATE('2011/12/23','YYYY/MM/DD') to use in comparison operators like =, != , > , < etc. Comparison operators used taking date as literal will give you wrong result.
    Better to do it right even it takes huge effort.

    I have no errors with numbers such as -999.99 but as soon as I have a number with a thousand such 1,789.44 I got an invalid number error ??
    By the way when I tried to do the SQL statement directly, I also got the error
    SQL> select to_number('1,789.55','S999G999D99','NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=".,"') from dual;
    select to_number('1,789.55','S999G999D99','NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=".,"') from dual
    ERREUR à la ligne 1 :
    ORA-01722: Nombre non valide
    What am I missing ? What should I do to avoid the error ?
    Thxs in advance for your help.
    Rgds
    Yves

    Look carefully onto your format mask - it begins with 'S'.
    Format Model
    S
    Returns negative value with a leading minus sign (-).
    Returns positive value with a leading plus sign (+).
    Returns negative value with a trailing minus sign (-).
    Returns positive value with a trailing plus sign (+).
    Restriction: The S format element can appear only in the first or last position of a number format model.
    SQL> select to_number('+1,789.55','S999G999D99','NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=''.,''') from dual
      2  /
    TO_NUMBER('+1,789.55','S999G999D99','NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=''.,''')
                                                                 1789.55
    SQL> select to_number('1,789.55','999G999D99','NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=''.,''') from dual
      2  /
    TO_NUMBER('1,789.55','999G999D99','NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS=''.,''')
                                                               1789.55Rgds.

    You can't use 'c_rank' in the where clause because it doesn't exist; you are computing it in the SELECT clause.
    Remove the last condition and wrap your query in another one to select by 'c_rank'.
