One bad patch? KB3035131

I had a 50% failure rate in my test group for patch KB3035131.

All systems in the test group use the same DP so I am unsure as to why some would have an issue with the update missing and others would not.
The systems that failed did patch a different patch at the same time.
Any help would be great!

Quote from https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3035131
If you manually install the security update that is described in advisory 3033929 and then manually install security update 3035131, you receive a message that states that update 3035131 is already installed. In this scenario, security update 3035131
is not added to the list of installed updates. Update 3033929 includes the security updates that are provided by update 3035131. Therefore, the system is not in an unprotected state in this scenario, even though update 3035131 is not added to the
list of installed updates. Customers who plan to manually install both updates are advised to install the 3035131 update before they install the 3033929 update. If customers manually install the updates in this order, the list of installed updates will
include both updates.
So check if 3033929 is installed on those failing clients, uninstall it and install 3035131 first.

  • Unknown error compiling movie - tiny sections export fine - no one bad clip

    This week I've been dealing with a huge pain exporting a 6 minute video on my retina macbook pro. The sequence is 720p 24fps (23.976) and contains a mix of 720p & 1080p (scaled) AVCHD footage, a couple of 1080p GoPro shots, some 1080p time-lapse clips (quicktime h.264) and some mp3 files.
    Earlier I was having trouble with playback in premiere, but by replacing one bad clip and rendering the rest in small chunks I am now able to play back the sequence with zero issues within premiere.
    However, when I go to export the whole movie, or even a significant chunk, either the system starts spinning its wheels partway through export or I get "error compiling movie - unknown error."
    The workaround I have found when that happens is to restart premiere (often having to force quit) and then try to export a smaller chunk. (Restarting seems to be necessary after an export has failed). Sometimes the chunks become ridiculously small, but there is no one clip or section that won't export if the clips are small enough. I have also tried cleaning the media cache trashing the preferences, neither of which have changed anything.
    Even when I export using the sequence settings of the sequence (which has already been rendered and plays fine within premiere) the problem persists.
    My first question is: how can there be an issue exporting a video with identical settings to a sequence that has already been rendered and plays back fine?? Am I wrong in understanding that no conversion is required in that case? Clearly there is something about the process that I don't understand.
    My second question is, if no one clip or clips are to blame, are there any likely culprits in my system? Is there perhaps a less time-consuming workaround?
    Finally I want to ask: what good does it do to allow users to put different types of media into one timeline if they can never export it?!?!
    This is super frustrating, thank you for any help or insight.

    So, I ran into this the first time recently. I discovered it when I copied an adjustment layer for quick grading with an RGB Color Corrector and Color Balance effects in it from a rehearsal cut of a short film.The effects worked fine and rendered out without issue. I imported the sequence into my 'final' cut so I could reuse the titles and adjustment layer. I copied the adjustment layer to the new rough cut of the final sequence and ran into this error when I tried to render it, but only after applying the adjustment layer. I found that if I turned off the Color Balance, the sequence rendered fine. I found that if I moved the Color Balance above the RGB Color Corrector, the effect of the RGB effect completely disappeared AND it rendered correctly (both effects turned on) - so reversing the order worked, but effects were weird. I also found that if I added ANY non-GPU accelerated effects to the RGB Color Corrector that I'd get the same compile error (unknown).
    I went through and deleted clips until I got to 0 on the timeline, added a new one back on, and it still wouldn't render. So, I created an entirely NEW sequence, copied all video and audio (not adjustment layer) from the original failing rough cut of the final sequence, and pasted it into this new sequence. I also copied the adjustment layer again from the rehearsal cut into this new sequence and it is rendering just fine.
    HOURS WASTED DOING THIS! It would be awesome if Adobe actually tested their products before releasing them instead of forcing us to do it for them. My project consisted of about 30-40 different clips and audio, all from the same DSLR (Nikon D810), nothing fancy, two effects in an adjustment layer applied to the entire sequence, and Premiere couldn't handle it. Given this and some of the comments I read while troubleshooting this on this forum, gives me pause in trusting Adobe products for any real work that has a deadline (unless, of course, you build in the required Adobe testing time into your budget).
    So, just another data point; something else to try. Create a new sequence, and copy everything from your non-working one to it, and see if this will jump-start Premier. Worked for me. Good luck.

  • Has someone applied the one off patch for-ONS bug 5749953 SIGBUS ERROR

    Hello all,
    Env:: 10g on Soalris
    I need to apply the one-off patch for
    Bug:5749953 -- ONS SIGBUS ERROR AFTER INSTALL PATCHSET 10.2.0.3 FOR CRS
    Usually for any CPU we issue opatch apply from the patch directory.
    and its mentioned in the readme.html as well.
    But for this one off patch, there isn't anything mentioned in the readme.html.
    All it says is
    #  6. Patch the Files
    #    6.1 Patch the CRS home files
    #    After unlocking any protected files and saving configuration settings
    #    you are now ready to run opatch using the following command.
    #    As the Oracle Clusterware (CRS) software owner;
    #    % opatch apply -local -oh <CRS_HOME>
    #    Note: In configuration A, invoke this only on one node.
    #    6.2 Patch the RDBMS home files.
    #    Alert: The RDBMS portion can only be applied to an RDBMS home that
    #          has been upgraded to 10.2.0.3.0.
    #    For additional information please read Note.363254.1;
    #    Applying one-off Oracle Clusterware patches in a mixed version home
    #    environment
    #    As the RDBMS software owner;
    #    % opatch apply custom/server/5749953 -local -oh <RDBMS_HOME>
    #    Note: In configuration A, invoke this only on one node.Could someone let me know from where i should give 'opatch apply' if patch.zip files are unzipped in /export/home/oracle/5749953  ? TIA,
    JJ

    The patch can always be installed in 2 ways.
    1. Do a cd and then run opatch
    cd <patchlocation>
    opatch apply
    2. Else specify the patch location as an argument
    opatch apply <full path to the patch i.e the one you do cd above> ...
    Both the above styles yield same result.

  • Query Regarding Applying One-Off Patches

    Hi,
    We have plans of doing the following:
    Upgrade the databases to 10.2.0.5.0
    Apply the 10.2.0.5 PSU 3
    Apply a list of one-off patches identified for our environment (which are not included in 10.2.0.5.3)
    Query:
    If the one-off patches identified to be applied in our environment are available only top of 10.2.0.5.0 and not for 10.2.0.5.3, then which of the following mentioned solutions should be proceed with considering :
    Upgrade the database to 10.2.0.5.0, apply the one-off patches available on top of 10.2.0.5.0 and then apply the 10.2.0.5.0 PSU3
    or
    Upgrade the database to 10.2.0.5.0, apply the 10.2.0.5.0 PSU3, request for one-off patches on top of 10.2.0.5.3 and appy the same
    Thanks and Regards,

  • PSU and One-off patching on GRID Home

    Grid Infrastructure Version: 11.2.0.2
    Question1.
    Do you apply one-off patches for GI HOME? I have only applied PSUs on Grid Home . I have never applied a one-off patch on a Grid HOME.
    So, I thought of downloading a GRID related one-off patch for AIX . So, I looked for
    12767231 - AIX-11202-GIPC DISABLE SWITCH PORT FOR ONE PRIVATE NIC,HAIP DID NOT FAILOVERwhich is part of GI PSU 11.2.0.2.4 ( 12827731).
    But when I searched for the one-off patch 12767231 in patch search in Metalink, I couldn't find the patch download for this particular bug.
    I think you can apply this one-off patch only as a part of PSU. Right?
    Question2.
    Why on earth should I apply GI's PSU(or one-off patch) on RDBMS_HOME or vice versa?
    RAC Databases run on the top of CRS stack.
    Although related ,both GRID HOME and RDBMS HOME contain different binary files doing different things. So why should we apply GI's PSU/one-off patch on RDBMS_HOME and RDBMS_HOME's PSU on GRID Infrastructure HOME?
    Question3.
    We install grid using Grid Installer GUI. When doing a fresh installation of 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 in a new server , I want to apply its latest PSU as well. When should I do this PSU patching ?
    A. Before running root.sh ?
    One of last screens we get in Grid Installation is where the installer prompts you to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)
    http://husnusensoy.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/camtasiastudio351.png
    Should I do the PSU patching now ? ie just before executing root.sh ?
    B. or After running root.sh ? ie. After the whole Grid Installation is succesfully complete ?

    Hello There.
    for question number 3. What I do is this:
    1. Execute runinstaller for grid, choose to check for patches, and put those patches in a folder, the next install don't need to go to internet, and reuse the 2 downloaded patches avaliable as today for 11.2.0.3.
    2. patch GI (Grid Infrastucture home)
    3. Install DB Binaries, no db creation
    4. Patch DB Binaries
    5. Create DB using dbca.
    hope this helps.

  • Interim patch and One-off patch

    DB version : 11.2
    In oracle terminology, Interim patch is same as one-off patch. Right?

    Hi;
    >
    In oracle terminology, Interim patch is same as one-off patch. Right?An Interim Patch (formerly known as a “one-off” patch) is a bug fix (or set of fixes) made available to customers who for business reasons cannot wait until the next Patch Set or new product release to get a fix.

  • What exactly became of the "bad patches"

    Some months ago the http://www.sun.com/forte/developer/hotnews.html page advertising that some BAD patches existed without going into too much detail about them. I experienced an application breaking in DBTools.h++ after applying some recommended patches for Sun Workshop 5 and therefore rolled them back. I even stepped through the debugger and saw erroneous assignements to a template class' constructor arguments.
    My revisions before patching were: 107295-01, 107311-09, 107354-01, 107355-04, 107357-07
    The changed revisions after patching were 02, 11, 02, 06, 09 respectively. These are still the recommended patches and I have tried patching a completely unpatched machine at a different site also using DBTools.h++ and seeing it break again.
    Questions are:
    Can I obtain the older revision levels of the patches ?
    Can someone shed some light on what approach to take to this ?
    Thanks

    Hi Chris,
    Have a look at: [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_koLdJqpUFo] The quality is not very good, but perhaps this will give you an idea of what's going to be available in Apex 4

  • Whether DB restart required for applying one-off patch

    Hi All
    Whether we need to restart database, after applying one-off patch ( Patch no:6554634). The environment in Oracle 10g R2 on AIX on RAC.

    What does the README instruct you to do...Normally it would advice you to restart ur database...
    If it is RAC, which way are you applying the patch ??

  • Are One-Off patches client specific?

    Hi
    Are One-Off patches client specific? I have a document which lists the patches applied to Oracle Home on existing server and I have to apply the same patches to a new server that I am building. I searched for all the patches listed but the "one-Off" patch listed cannot be found by the search.
    Please let me know.

    Hmm... maybe I should have provided a bit more info.
    The server i am configuring is 10gR2 (client is still using this release and have extended support - so downloading patches should not be a problem). I have to move DBs from existing server to a new one. Before i do that, I have to install exact same binaries (rel and patches) that have been applied to existing server. The document I have been provided contains list of patches applied to oracle home (10.2.0.5). Among the list of patch numbers, this is the only one I could not find.
    The do you have referred to is for 11g not 10g.

    then you need to follow Srini's suggestion regarding cloning the oracle home.

  • One good IP, one bad 169 IP

    I am working in a small home office. We have two computers:
    One is an iBook G3 running on OS X 3.9
    The other:
    An iMac G3 running on OS 9.2.2
    We use a broadband modem and connect the two computers to a router (not wireless). Both computers are connected to the router with an ethernat cable.
    Now once upon a time, both computers connected to the internet through an old router which recently died, and was replaced with a Netgear 10/100M Switch, but before any of that both computers connected to the internet fine until one day after a black out in the bulding. Now only one computer is able to connect to the internet while the other is unable to.
    One day, when he had no internet on either comp, we called our ISP and they directed us to connect at least one of the computers directly to the modem, turn off the modem for 5 seconds, tunr off the computer, turn on the modema dn then restart the comp. Of course the computer received teh correct IP address and we did the same thing with the other computer, and THAT'S when we got the problem.
    Whenever we directly connected a computer to the modem, shut both the modem and comp off and restarted, one computer would receive the right IP address while the other got the bad 169 IP, everytime.
    We need to have both computers connected to the internet, but for now the only one connected is the iBook laptop, while the iMac remains unconnected and idle.I tried deleting the TCP DNR on the the iMac, and the TCP/IP preferences as well and still couldn't connect.
    We use DHCP and our address is provided by our ISP.
    Can anyone give us some suggestions, anything to work with to try and solve this problem?

    It sounds like you have a DS104 or DS108, which
    funnily enough is the exact same model i bought many,
    many,
    What you need instead is an Ethernet 4-port router,
    with DHCP and firewall. The Netgear RP614 is probably
    ideal, although you could go wireless (for extra
    cost) if you want to.
    Hi Simon,
    I also have a Netgear switch FS105 so that will not connect my imac and ibook allowing both to use internet.
    The Netgear RP614 router you mention. Do you know if it will work with OS 9.2.1

  • Bad patch 118844-30

    Just wondering if no one else is having issues with the Sun kernel patches?
    A month ago we tried to install 118844-28, which failed to install see http://forum.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=28707&tstart=0
    Now they release a new kernel patch, which seem to have the exact same problem.
    The patch refuses to install saying that patch 117435-02 must be installed first and machine must be rebooted. The 117435-02 patch came with the installation of the OS.
    From the prepatch script     #
         # biosdev failed. We can still apply the patch if the rootdisk
         # is the same as the bootdisk
         bootdev=`prtconf -v /devices | sed -n '/boot-device/{n;p;}' | grep pci | cut -f 2 -d \'`
         rootdev=`df -k ${BASEDIR:-/} | nawk 'NR > 1 { print $1 }'`
         if [ -n "$bootdev" ] ; then
              ls -l $rootdev | grep $bootdev > /dev/null
              if [ $? = 0 ]; then
                   return 0
              fi
         fiRunning prtconf -v /devices will result in the following (among other things)name='bootpath' type=string items=1
                value='/pci@0,0/pci-ide@7/ide@0/cmdk@0,0:a'
    name='bios-boot-device' type=string items=1
                value='80'Since they are still using sed -n '/boot-device/{n;p;}' which will return value='80' this patch will fail to install.

    I've been trying to upgrade past 118844-26 for a while. This machine started out as a Solaris 10 x86 1/06 DVD install. I experience errors like you guys have listed here. My favorite so far was this, though:
