Managing error page

Hi all!
Is there a way to manage error pages [ Error Page. You have encountered an unexpected error.  Please contact the System Administrator for assistance.] in OA, cause our customer need to have a page in native language and not in English?! This is a legislative problem in our country (Italy) so we have to provide for changing that text content.
Furthermore is there a way to catch the exception and try to output a context sensitive message for all the users?? (for example --> "Error. You used an invalid datatype. The field must be filled with numbers.")
Thx very much ;)
Sorry but I'm not so confident with all the instruments of Oracle Applications and maybe someone has already met this kind of problems and can give me a help.
Ciao
Jacopo

Hi,
If you look at your coding you will be calling a seeded jsp file or xml file if there is any error occurs.
We can have our own custom exception page, whenever there is an exception occured we can enroute the flow to that custom exception page. We can print the error message in that file..

  • I'm unable to access my yahoo email account using updated firefox browser, i keep getting error page when I use the mail link on yahoo pages

    Since updating Firefox browser, i am unable to gain access to my yahoo email account. I can access the email with Interent Explorer with no trouble. Whenever I click on a mail link on the yahoo sites to check my mail, I get rerouted to an error page ..... "Sorry, we can't find "ca.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?.gx=1". Please check the spelling of the web address." is what is said at top of page whenever I click on any mail links.

    This is how I fixed it on my new iPhone 5S. Using the standard yahoo setting on my phone.
    You will have to access  "managing your app passwords" on your account profile for yahoo. Generate password for your app. For example: "My iPhone 5S'
    Go to your Iphone and set up your yahoo mail account on your phone the normal way and you have to use the generated password.  instead of the yahoo account password.

  • How to show  an error Page in Weblogic when the server is down

    Hi ,
    I heard that every container has the facility to show an error page when the server is down and (when the request has arrived at that time ).
    Please tell me how to configure this in BEA weblogic ??
    Thanks .

    Hi,
    From my understanding weblogic dose not provide the thing which you are asking for, reason is given below.
    - An application is deployed only on managed server one (MS-1)
    - Now if the request comes to the server (MS-1) when it was running and then for some reason MS-1 goes down then weblogic server would be able to send any response back to the client as its down.
    - Hence nothing can be done as the request object is been lost when the server goes down or even cant redirect to an error page as for doing that too the server has to be up and running.
    However there are other way round which can help you overcome this issue as shown below
    - Use Clusters with few managed servers in it which gives you high availability and load-balancing.
    - Use any web servers like Apache in front of weblogic servers.
    Using the above things you can also use customized HTTP Error Responses with error-page element in web.xml and create your own error pages which can be re-directed for the web server side also. For more information go through the below links

  • Deployment Manager Error with Oracle Weblogic Server 10.3.1

    I have installed Identity Manager 9.1.0.2 (patch upgraded from 9.1.0.1) on OEL 5.3 64bit and Weblogic 10.3.1
    Database:Oracle 11gR2 (remote machine).
    **I am aware that IM 9.1.0.2 is not certified on Weblogic 10.3.1 (it is only certified on 10.3),
    The installation was successful and OIManager is up and running. Able to create Users, Resources etc. as well.
    As part of configuring OIM Connectors tried to Import .xml file using Import option from Deployment Management section as below and the following error was displayed.
    "Either your session timed out or you are trying to access a page without logging in".
    Did all workarounds like enabling java, changing browsers, restarting machine etc as per the below discussion but in vain.
    Deployment Manager Error with Oracle Weblogic Server
    Can any one suggest any workaround or solution for this problem.
    Or atleast can any one confirm there is no Identity manager available on this date which is compatible with 10.3.1? and cannot be continued further.
    Thanks in Advance

    You are facing this issue because you're using a non certified combination.
    Other folks who tried to use OIM in 10.3.1 ended up in the same problem you're facing.

  • error-page working in netscape but not in explorer

    Hi!
    I've a problem using I Explorer. I configured in my web.xml an error-
    page to manager errors of code 403, and it wasn't working, I keep
    getting an error from the browser and not the error page I
    specified... I thought it's was something about my app... but when I
    tested it with Netscape I got my error page ok.
    Does somebody knows why this happens in Explorer... how can I fix it.
    Thanks a lot!
    Abigail Garca

    Internet Explorer does that to save you from having to know what "Error 403" means. But you can turn that off: select menu Tools, option Internet Options. Select the "Advanced" tab, scroll down until you see "Show friendly HTTP error messages". Uncheck that and click OK.
    (That works in my IE 5.5; other versions may differ.)

  • error-page not working in J2EE SDK 5 Update 1

    I recently migrated from Tomcat 5 to J2EE SDK 5 Update 1, and since, have not been able to get my custom error page working. I have verified the path to the error page by testing the link directly in a browser, but still see the default gray and white error page anytime an error occurs. This exact xml worked perfectly in tomcat 5 - am I missing something?
    I have the following in my web.xml:
      <!-- Http error -->
      <error-page>
        <error-code>500</error-code>
        <location>/error.faces</location>

    Hi, Here is a link from Mozilla that addresses this : http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+the+Flash+plugin
    Page down to "Flash does not work properly and /or will not update."
    When you have two SWF installed the websites use the old one, not the new one. Don't ask me why, I often wonder that myself. That's why when you disabled the old one, Flash didn't work.
    Hope this solves the issue.

    Hi. I am also same kind of problem. I ahve a simple JSP in my Struts 2 Application. Server used is weblogic. As soon as i click on the Calender Image. The Socket write erro is thrown. I a m not able to under stand as to why socket write error is happening, as inly a simple javascript function call happens on click of that image.
    JSP Cal code:
    value="<s:date name='remitFileSetup.effcvStartDt' format='MM/dd/yyyy'/>" size='10' maxlength='10'/><a id="Date1" href="#"><img onclick="javascript:callSelf('Date1','startdate','true','divMesReg1')" valign="bottom" src="<s:url value="/images/cal.gif"/>"
    method implementation:
    function call(cButton, cOutput, cSingle,divId) {
    var MA = [];
         //alert("HI 1");
         //to convert cSingle into boolean
         if(cSingle=='false')
         cSingle=false;
    else{
              cSingle=true;
    function closed(cal) {
    // here we'll write the output; this is only for example. You
    // will normally fill an input field or something with the dates.
    var el = document.getElementById(cOutput);
    // reset initial content.
    //el.innerHTML = "";
              if(cSingle==true) {
                   el.value="";
    // Reset the "MA", in case one triggers the calendar again.
    // CAREFUL! You don't want to do "MA = [];". We need to modify
    // the value of the current array, instead of creating a new one.
    // Calendar.setup is called only once! :-) So be careful.
    MA.length = 0;
    // walk the calendar's multiple dates selection hash
    for (var i in cal.multiple) {
    var d = cal.multiple;
    //alert("HI 2");
    // sometimes the date is not actually selected, that's why we need to check.
    if (d) {

    // selected in the textbox
    var tempOlddate=trim(el.value);

    My global error page doesn't show in some isolated cases. Could this be because of partial page rendering? What changes might be needed to have it work in all cases?

    Jun 13, 2008 12:54:11 PM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.renderkit.core.xhtml.PanelPartialRootRenderer encodeAll
    SEVERE: Error during partial-page rendering
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't instantiate class: 'com.softrek.adf.view.managed.JFreeChartPlotter'.. class com.softrek.adf.view.managed.JFreeChartPlotter : java.lang.NullPointerException
         at com.sun.faces.el.ValueBindingImpl.getValue(ValueBindingImpl.java:190)
         at com.sun.faces.el.ValueBindingImpl.getValue(ValueBindingImpl.java:143)
    But my error page doesn' t show up. I've used the identical test error in most other parts of my application and it shows - so other than the partial page rendering going on, I can't see why this case would be different.
    Is there any known bug (or feature) about the use of an error page during partial page rendering?
    Any ideas will be welcome.

    I'm unclear on how I would get the error to redirect.
    I've changed my web.xml to go to a servlet of my creation, set up the mapping and all.
    It works fine for exceptions generated in a backing bean normally.
    When the exception occurs as part of partial page rendering the error servlet is not called and the user's session dies.
    This is being done in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3
    The new web.xml contains:
    <error-page>
    <exception-type>java.lang.Throwable</exception-type>
    <location>/servlet/errorAction</location>
    </error-page>
    Which is working for errors generated under most circumstances but not when they are inside my partial page change.
    How do I get errors to go to my error page when the error occurred during PPR?
    PS. Using the PartialPageUtils.isPartialRequest() method generated a recursive error in my error servlet. This looks like the known limitation for Faces error handling.

  • Custom Error Page on Server Level

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to achieve a consistent style/layout of my error pages. So far, I managed to change all displayed pages except for this case:
    'http://<serverUrl>/someNonsens
    In this case, a standard-SAP 404-error page is displayed.
    I already tried to change the global-web.xml as well as the web.xml of com.sap.engine.docs.examples, but ran into other errors (500).
    Could anyone tell me, where to change that error page.
    And yes, already checked
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/9a/e74d426332bd30e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">SAP Library</a>, <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_jas/~form/handler">SAP Notes</a> and quite a few threads (e.g. <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?forumID=52&threadID=150520">150520</a> or <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=70663">70663</a>), but didn't find a solution, or didn't see/understand it :-(.

    Hi Hauke!
    Have you found a solution to your problem ?
    If yes - could you tell me how ?

    Why not construct an intermediate page after the
    login page that has SESSION_UNSPECIFIED and
    a refresh META tag. The page can then refresh
    to either the login failed or login succeeded pages
    depending on how the login went! Looks like...
    1) Login page (SESSION_UNSPECIFIED)
    2A) Refresh page (SESSION_UNSPECIFIED)

    Subject: (forte-users) Session management for page builder
    Hi everybody,
    We have a lot of legacy code making use of the page builder service to
    produce web pages. These pages were originally written without session
    management. I'm now busy adding session management to them, but there is
    one problem with this approach and I will appreciate if someone can shed
    some light on it. Here it is:
    Page one is submitted.
    Some validation (authentication) takes place and depending on the outcome,
    either page 2A (SESSION_REQUIRED) or 2B (error page with
    SESSION_UNSPECIFIED) must be displayed. In order to implement this, I
    needed a place to make a decision. The way I've done it, is to pass a
    'virtual page' (SESSION_UNSPECIFIED) to the page builder service. The
    validation is done here and request.PageName is then replaced with the
    PageName of pages 2A or 2B. The HandleRequest() method is then called
    again. The problem is that the ValidateSession() method does not get
    invoked again, thus allowing 2A through without a session. How do I make
    sure that the ValidateSession() method get invoked again?
    The approach making use of templates look to me as if it has all the means
    to do this (redirect tag), but I don't want to rewrite everything if I
    don't have to. Is there a way that a pagebuilder page can be specified by
    the redirect tag? This will definitely help, but so far I've only managed
    to call templates from the redirect tag.
    Is the template approach better suited for session management? It is
    definetely better documented...
    Regards.

  • Error Page in Create an Instance

    Hi, Expertise
    Seeking your important help.
    When I plan to create an Item Instance through Oracle Installed Base Agent User -> Item Instance -> Item Instances, an error page occurs. the following is what Exception Detail shows.
    and i do have 2 questions on Install Base (IB)
    1) Must IB have Oracle Asset Tracking & Oracle Service Fulfillment Manager installed?
    2) Must IB have integration with INV and OM as at initial phase, we plan IB only as a centralized repository to manually record and track information?
    thanks and Best,

    Hello,
    In J2EE you are not supposed to load resources from other application this is breaking the specs, even if some containers allow that usually it is not a good idea.
    To avoid that in OracleAS you can use 2 things:
    - define your Jars as shared library and make them available for multiple applications
    - put your jar in the applib directory in the root of your EAR (this is one of the JavaEE features that has been implemented in OracleAS 10gR3 10.1.3.1 to simplify development and deployment)
    All this is documented in 3 Utilizing the OC4J Class Loading Framework chapter of the OC4J developer guide.
