Managing / Using several NSUrlConnections at once & network performence

Hi,
I am using several (5-10) nsurlrequests and therefore have a two questions.
1.
Should I wait for each connection to finish or cancel until the next connection wants to start?
2.
If I should handle my connections in a "stack" - how should I do this? Approach A: in each connectionDidFinishMethod I am starting the next connection request Approach B: I could use a "ConnectionManager" which is working with the observer-key-value service.

Mr_Johnson,
NI has some on-line resources to help you get started learning LabVIEW. They are a good place to start.
Next check the available drivers. Some of your instruments probably have drivers already available for download. They can guide you in developing other if necessary. If the drivers are not available on the NI web site, check with the manufacturers of the instruments to see if they have LV drivers.
Also, be aware that there are some drivers out there which do not follow the best LV programming practices, so do not assume that just because it is publically available code, it is well written code.
Starting simple is also a good idea. Good LabVIEW practice suggests creating subVIs (modules of code) and combining them for the overall program. For example you might have subVIs for initializing (establishing communications), configuring (setting ranges and measurement types), reading data, and closing the communications. The read subVI would go inside a loop so you could take multiple readings without reconfiguring the meter each time.

WTKs - Creating a network of them / using several KVMs at once

Hello,
I've been using the J2ME wireless tookit for almost two months, and I've already have a look at the documentation, tips and a more-than-beginner approach in programming area, since I use EclipseME. But I need to create a small network and I just need some ways to set off one small project :/.
I do know that every MIDLET is nothing without a KVM. The toolkits provide a way to let small simulated devices to load them as tiny apps. They are real powerful machines, that can let us view every aspect of the application before actually loading them in a mobile. The problem is when we need to use more than one WTK :(
Let say someone created a GUI program using Eclipse that shows a canvas of loaded 'squares', that is, instances of the class 'MobileSquare2D'. He or she wants to link every square to KVM virtual machines running in the background and loading the simpliest application (e.g: one that pings to one's requests). He or she can think about using WTK since its emulate mobile phones well. But how about the communication between the KVM machines? And how about the cluttering of wireless toolkit consoles opened up?
So my question is:
- Is there a way to run several midlets, in several wireless toolkits in one machine? If so, is there a way not to use its GUI? (that is, not graphical output, since I only want to send a data from one WTK to another?) If its not possible to run many WTKs, someone know an alternative to WTK? Maybe a 'MIDP Midlet loader'?
- Is around there any opensource project of a WTK? Thats because I would need to use a Java SE1.4 class that outputs in my GUI these small retangles, as said above, each one being a mobile phone, that is, everyone running KVM on them.
As I know I would have extremme work if reinventing the whell (in regard to implementing a UDI program), and Im only a student, it could be more productive if using classes that references KVM and loads small JAR files (or even the simplest program which uses only a .class file) Which can access KVM and external protocol modules and create a small simple connection of virtual mobile phones, in order to do experiments like receiving a ping response and sending XML files to be outputted in the other's screen.
I will be very glad and stimulated if someone helps me a bit here. I do know the great potentials of using KVM and its midlets not only for mobile phones but network sensors, as well. I tried to get some help with other Wireless Toolkit developers but they appear to not exist at all :/ And googling about it wasn't useful (no topic about).

Connecting to UCS6120 from Fabric Manager using TACACS

I have to log into Fabric Manager using TACACS with SNMPv3 (company network security restriction).
I launch Fabric Manger using my TACACS account which connects to all the switches in my two fabrics using the same credentials.
I can connect to all MDS9513, MDS9222i, IBM Bladechassis FC switch modules and all NX5020 switches in the fabrics. Fabric Manager cannot connect to any of the eight UCS6120 switches in the fabrics, returning a status of Unknow User or Password(Server,Client).
This, I understand, requires the creation of a specific SNMP user, which is fine. However as I am logged into Fabric Manager using a single TACACS account, I cannot supply alternate credentials to a subset of switches in the fabric.
Is there a work around for this to enable management of the 6120s in FM? or am I missing something.

Fabric Manager uses the same credentials to access all systems, these credentials will need to be valid on the UCS platform as well. Create a local SNMP user on UCS and check. This needs to be different from any non-snmp authentication accounts on UCS.
Note that FM cannot manage UCS. You will be able to view into UCS but not make changes. May not be an issue if UCSM is running end host mode. To make any changes, you will need to use the UCSM GUI or CLI or other tool for administration.

First restart your mac and try again.
It could be
that the router and the TC are interfering wirelessly with each other.
You can check this by pressing the option key while clicking on the wireless icon on your screen
Open Wireless Diagnostics
enter your user password
Press CMD 4 then Scan
You will see all the wireless channels being used in your location and you can check if they are on the same channel
Make the SSID for the TC simple like MyTC
Set 5Ghz to auto
Update the TC
Try again

Aperture 3.2.3 and NIK plugins. I use several of these plugins. Recently, and intermittently, the edited image fails to update in the viewer until Aperture is quit and re-launched, even though it is updated in the browser strip. I have assumed the NIK software must be working because the problem occurs from time to time regardless of which one is used. Is there some explanation?

Not sure why Apple has not fixed this one yet. It is consistent with NIK plug-ins as well as Photoshop (CS5 and CS6).

I want to use time machine on a network drive

i know in the past Apple holds us hostage to buy their time capsule. With Lion now launched, is there a work around to allow families to buy there own hard drive and use it for multiple macs for time machine?
Im fairly new to Mac, convinced my wife to switch, now here we are held captive to buy a TC when we already have a fantastic 2TB drive we purchased for a fraction of the price of a TC. I dont care about wifi, I just want to save our Mini time machine to our MBP networked drive (or vice versa).
I currently have Lion on the MBP, and Leopard on the Mini. After installing and hating Lion on my MBP, i have not "upgraded" the mini. (although I am currently following the "upgrade back to Leopard" threads)

In the past Apple was not holding you hostage by requiring you to use a Time Capsule for network Time Machine backups. Search on Google for Time machine NAS OS X (or something like that) You will find a number of drives that were working with SL.
Now, they did change the file protocol in Lion, so some of the NAS servers won't work with Lion, at the moment. So long as it is a decent company that makes the NAS they should be releasing a firmware update to get their NAS working with Lion.
One of the companies that put out a press release was Western Digital. They said they would be working on an updated firmware so that you could use it as a Time Machine drive.
Just look around the interwebs and I am sure you will find several that will work.

CRS Install hostname being used by more than once for the same node.

Hi, we're installing The Oracle Clusterware and on the Cluster Configuration screen of the universal Installer (the one were you specify the clustername and clusternodes) we get the following error message in a dialog box when the next button is clicked:
"You must enter unique values for the public node name, the private node name and the virtual hostname for all nodes in the cluster. The name, node1, that you entered is being used by more than once for the same node."
Has anyone experienced this error message before and know what the cause is?
Could it be a problem with the /etc/hosts file?

Make sure you allocate separate IP addresses on your network for the VIP addresses on each RAC node (this is not the same as the machine IP already configured on the OS).
Also, the installer may complain if your private and public IPs are configured under the same subnet.
Finally, as mentioned before, check that name resolution for all the IPs to be used. On all RAC nodes, your /etc/hosts file should be configured with:
- public name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
- private name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
- VIP name and IP addresses of ALL nodes

Or modify this option on existent VPN connection with command.

Several photos at once

A simple question for those of you who do these: 1) How do I display several images at once on the screen -- minimize each piece so they can all fit on the screen? 2) I'm putting together a series and need the colors of one image to match the same color on the other images (which is why I want to line them up in #1). To do this, I've tried using the eyedropper to sample, then drop the color into the other images: I've also tried reading the numeric number for a color, then copy the same color on another image. I'm not having much luck, though it could be due to my ineptness. (Note: The images are already made. Right now I'm just trying to tweak the colors so they match.) Any ideas on either 1 or 2? 1. Window > Arrange > Tile, You can also match the zoom across open Window Arrange > Match Zoom
2. A couple of options I'm going to suggest, depends on the result you are after
a. You could make images Monotone?
First make the images Grayscale, Image > Mode > Grayscale
Then Duotone Image > Mode > Duotone
Just use one ink for Montone, you can then change back to CMYK/RGB to avoid having spot colours
b. Image > Adjustments > Match color... Here you can choose the target file that you are trying to match. A much more subtle match of tones and colors.

Printing several documents at once

Hello,
We are looking for a possibility to print out several originals at once (mass print). The originals might belong to several DIRs. I know that there are external solutions available (e.g. from SEAL Systems). But my question is wheather there are SAP solutions available for this requirement. I can think of printing from CV04N result list, printing from EasyDMS (printing complete EasyDMS folder), printing from CAD-Desktop (CDESK) or from Web Documents. But in SAP Standard (ECC 6.0) you can alway just print one original at a time. I really appreciate any information!

Create a desktop printer for the HP - using Printer Setup Utility in the Printers menu.
Drag and drop your docs on the desktop printer.
Please let us know about your success with this.

Cannot make several changes at once

Hi,
I have Contribute installed onto a computer and i am able to connect to the server via FTP.
When I edit 1 thing on the website and go to draft and publish it will upload the change i have made and it is visible on the website, but when i make several changes at once then go to draft and publish then it says it cannot access the FTP server.
Does anyone know how to fix this? or hae had similar issues?

and the wireless functionality is working. i can connect to my network with my laptop. I just can't change anything on the configuration page (192.168.1.1) because it never recognizes my password except to login to the page.

PLD - print several documents at once

Hi.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to print several documents at once in SAP B1 2007A.
When creating sales order, I would like to print both order confirmation and a second document used as pick list.

I do not believe that it is possible to print two different layouts at once except for special cases such as printing batch information along with a marketing document. You will see these special cases in Print Preferences.
The usual techniques for printing two documents from one layout are:
1. Repeat the repetitive area etc.
OR
2. Specify two copies of the layout.
In both cases, you would use formula fields that would react to which print you were producing. For example, printing a different page heading on copy 1 and copy 2.

Mark several images at once with one or more stars

howdy,
using aperture 3 and am mostly happy with it (except a nasty import bug). however, a question about marking images with * to *** stars:
if I select several images at once within the aperture browser, is there a way to mark those images with a * star rating alltogether?
maybe I am to dumb, but if I select a couple of images, this is not possible. I have to move to every image with the cursor key, mark it with * star and then to the next.
did I oversee something?

There are many reasons that "Primary only" is an option. Often you want to have multiple photos selected, but apply changes to only one of them.
A read of the documentation or a good tutorial book would elicit some helpful workflow advice for Aperture, if you'd care to invest the time

Query on the 'Allow management operating system to share this network adapter' setting?

I have a Hyper-V R2 Test box with 2 NICs. The setting 'Allow management operating system to share this network adapter' was enabled by default on the virtual network that was created as part of adding the Hyper-V role. I configured the virtual network to use the 2nd physical NIC on the box that will be dedicated for VM traffic.
I know that best practise recommends isolating the traffic for host management, and virtual machines between different NICs if possible.
Interestingly, when i unchecked the 'Allow management operating system to share this network adapter' checkbox, one my of my NICs (the one configured for VM traffic) immediately disappears from view in the list of network adapters. At the same time, wiping the static TCP/IP config I have applied to the NIC. Only the virtual switch and management connections remain visible. If i re-enable the above setting, the missing network adapter re-appears but with its previous statically set config wiped.
Q1 Is this expected behaviour?
Q2 In Hyper-V version 1.0, this setting doesn't exist. As such, does that mean the operating system would share the network adapter by default and cannot be disabled from doing so? I assume this is the case, as all of the network adapters are present/visible on the same server, and in the absence of this setting.

It is not that things are hidden - in fact part of the confusion is that too much is shown - it is that they are moved.
Lets go back to the beginning (I am going to describe R2):
If you have a host with two nics and zero External networks - in Network Connections you will see two interfaces.
Go into the Virtual Network Manager and create an External Virtual Network and bind it to NIC 2 - do not select the option for the management OS to share the network.
If you look at Network connections you still see two interfaces, but NIC 2 is now bound to the virtual network protocol - it is dedicated to being a port of the External Network.
This is what happens when you attach a physical NIC to an External Network - it becomes an extension of the External Network - the hypervisor owns it - the management OS does not.
Now - modify the External Virtual Network and turn on the option to share with the management OS.
If you look at Network Connections you will see a new (third) interface.
kThis new interface is a soft interface tht is only exposed to the management OS by the hypervisor - it is a virtual NIC that is attached to the External Network - thus allowing the management OS to share the physical NIC 2 with all the other 'domains'.
In the hypervisor language a 'domain' is a generic way to describe a system managed by the hypervisor - the parent (managemetn os) is domain 0 (dom0) and any VMs are domain 1 through n. Therefore the management OS doe snot own the hardware, the hypervisor does - the management OS just handles managing the VMs and making sure they all play well with each other as well as creation and description, and managing networking and storage. But it is really a special VM.
