Manual DPMAgentInstaller failed

When trying to install a DPM2010 agent on a Windows 2008 Standard SP2 (which is a DC) from the DPM Console, I receive the error:
"Error 313: The agent operation failed because an error occurred while running the installation program on SERVER
Error details: Fatal error during installation (0x80070643)
Recommended action: Review the log files on SERVER: [windir]\temp\msdpm*.log and take appropriate action. Retry the operation, and if the error persists, restart the computer and then retry the operation again."
I have tried turning off the firewall on the Windows 2008 server and manually installing the agent by mapping
\\DPMSERVER\c$ locally to z:\   and running the  DPMAgentInstaller_x64.exe [SERVER]    command from the mapped drive.  The MSI appears to start installing but fails with the error:
"DPMAgentInstaller failed with errorcode =0x80070643, error says: Fatal error during installation
Check log files in [WINDIR]Temp\MSDPM*.LOG"
I check the log and near the end I see this:
MSI (s) (5C:C0) [10:11:59:489]: Note: 1: 1708
MSI (s) (5C:C0) [10:11:59:489]: Note: 1: 2205 2:  3: Error

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey,
I assume that your DC is x64 and that you used the command DPMAgentInstaller_x64.exe DPMServer as that is the name of your DPMServer
Could you try the following.  It is orginal for RODCs but it works for DC's as well
1. Create and populate the following security groups on Primary domain
controller: (Where $PSNAME is the name of RODC on which you are planning to
install agent)
a. Create DPMRADCOMTRUSTEDMACHINES$PSNAME  and add DPM server as a
member
b. Create DPMRADMTRUSTEDMACHINES$PSNAME and add DPM server as a member
c. Add DPM server as a member of Builtin\Distributed com users group
2. Ensure that above changes are replicated on to RODC
3. Install agent on RODC
4. Grant launch and activate permissions for DPM server on DPM RA service by
doing the following:
a. Run "dcomcnfg"
b. Expand Component Services ->  Expand Computers -> Expand My
Computer -> Expand DCOM Config
c. Right click DPM RA Service and select Properties
d. Under 'General', "Authentication Level - Default"
e. Under 'Location', only "Run application on this computer" should be
checked
f. Under Security, verify that the "Launch and Activation Permissions"
(select > "Edit") include the machine account for the DPM Server and Allow
j. Click OK
5. Copy setagentcfg.exe, traceprovider.dll and LKRhDPM.dll from "c:\Program
Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\setup" on DPM server and place them in "c:\Program
Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\setup" on RODC.
6. Run "setagentcfg.exe a DPMRA domain\DPMserver"  on RODC using an elevated
command prompt. (Run setagentcfg.exe from the location above i.e c:\Program
Files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\setup)
7. If  a firewall is enabled on RODC run the following commands:
a. netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="@FirewallAPI.dll,-29502"
new enable=yes
b. netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="@FirewallAPI.dll,-34251"
new enable=yes
c. netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=dpmra dir=in
program="%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\DPM\bin\DPMRA.exe"
profile=Any action=allow
d. netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=DPMRA_DCOM_135 dir=in
action=allow protocol=TCP localport=135 profile=Any
8. Attach agent on DPM server, now you are ready to protect the RODC.

  • DPMAgentInstaller failed with errorcode =0x80070643

    I've been looking all over the place for an answer to this. I've found lots of postings about it, but no answers that work for me.
    I recently upgraded from System Center DPM 2012 SP1 to 2012 R2. I've been upgrading all the clients. I've done it successfully on Windows 2012, Windows 2008, and Windows 7 computers. But I've run into one computer that I cannot upgrade. It's a Windows 7
    computer. I've tried to install the new client from the Win 7 computer itself. I've tried it with the old client installed and after uninstalling the old client. Every attempt to get the new client installed yields this error:
    "DPMAgentInstaller failed with errorcode =0x80070643, error says: Fatal error during installation."
    When I check the logs, the first few lines above "Value 3" are:

    The DPM server is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
    Any ideas about what is going on?

    Hi Rob,
    When installing the agent manually on the client, are you using any parameters? For example, specifying the DPM server?
    Kind regards,

  • Got a new dell laptop. adobe flash works on IE but not with Firefox. Manual installation failed. help!

    When trying to install adobe plugin, it fails, as does trying to do it manually. When trying manually, it says to close firefox then it will work but it doesn't. Again, when under IE, adobe flash works but I prefer Firefox.

    In step one you would have downloaded that file, if Firefox is using the normal configurations you should find it in the same location where you download any other files.
    To find out where Firefox downloads files, in the options window go to the general panel and it should show where files are downloaded to. Alternatively if Firefox stores the history of downloaded files, open the downloads window (you can do that by using keyboard shortcut Control+J), right-click on the install_flash_player.exe entry in the download window and select "Open containing folder"

  • Oracle Test Manager - Import of Manual Tests - Fails with ORA-12520:

    Hi,
    This issue occurs when we are trying to import manual tests into the Oracle Test Manager.
    The import fails when we try to import more than 300 records. The error message in the log
    is as shown below:
    Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
    ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server
    9:50:30:020 - *** DB Exception *** State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]

    State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]
    No one can logon to the application after this.
    According to the DBA the application is using up all the processes in the Database and hence it fails.
    When we restart the application service, the number of processes in the database goes down
    and the application goes back to normal state.
    We keep running into this issue when we try to import >=300 manual tests. (This is not an issue
    when runs are imported.)
    Anybody else facing this issue? Any ideas as to how this can be resolved?
    Thanks
    Aruna

    Hi,
    I had some problems with. So, consider the following:
    Simple XLS file :
    testname     owner     testdescription               Expected Result
    test1          wayne     Login into User Homepage     User can view login prompt
                   View Accout Details          User can see account details
                   Create simple report          User has access to reports section
                   Save as pdf               .pdf generate button is available
                   send email               email button is active
                   log off                    User can View log off page
    So we have four fields, teatname,owner,testdescription and Expected Result.
    When we import a test (select Test tab, then project->import data, and select .xls file)
    Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests
    Map      testname -> TestCase ID
         owner -> Owner
         testdescription -> Test Step Action
         Expected Result -> Test step expected result
    Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests. You should then see one test with all the steps.
    Regards
    Wayne.
    p.s. Thanks Alex!!

  • Dialling from 7960 - speed dial works, manual dial fails

    Hi, i've got an issue on a dialling a particular number from 7960 phones. When i dial a speed dial setup with the number 9121000 i hit the correct route pattern and the the 9 is stripped and an external call is placed to 121000 through my gateway.
    if i dial 9121000 manually the call fails, and the 7960 display looks like its attempting to the 4 digit internal number 1210
    I can't work out why this would work differently through speed dial and manual dial - any ideas?
    thanks in advance for any hints

    This is because you have overlapping pattern i.e. TP or RP, DN extension, etc with urgent priority set on it.  Locate it and disable urgent priority.

    You've got a lot of things going on in that log so you really need to be more specific as to which client system you are talking about.
    For this log message "Unable to connect to WMI on remote machine "XD-55012", error = 0x80070005"
    0x80070005 = "Access Denied"
    For WIN7X64-DEV4, it looks like client push was successful.

  • Manual backups fail to Timecapsule

    I have a TC that I want to use for backup and other file storage. I created two accounts on the TC one for my self that has full access and a guess account that can only see a copy of my iTunes folder. When I try to do a backup in automatic mode everything works fine, however I hate the continuous backups and don't want my entire drive consumed with them. When I try to backup in manual mode the TC reports my password is bad and won't proceed. Is there a way to restrict the amount of disk space used for backups or a way around my password issue? Thanks...

    Paul,
    TFTP will not work because the protocol doesnt support directory listing, what the ACS is trying to do is determine if a backup is currently running by looking into the repolock.cfg file. It also tries to see the contents of the catalog.xml file so that when a incremental backup is triggered it will add a line of the first full backup followed by all the incremental backups. Your best bet is to use ftp as the backup and this will fix the issue you are facing.
    thanks,

  • Re: hp1510 manual duplex fails

    I have the same problem with HP1300. These suggestions do not help. It doesn't give an option to manually print on both sides but assumes there is a duplex feature on the printer. I think there is a flaw in the drivers. Many people have the same problem with various printers. Can't HP issue corrected drivers?

    Hi CUGFG,
    I see that your manual duplexing is not working with your HP PSC 1510 on Windows 7, but it did on Windows XP. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
    I would definitely suggest to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, to make sure that the full feature software and driver's have been setup properly. If the HP Print and Scan Doctor, does not find any errors, then proceed with the following steps:
    Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
    Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
    Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
    Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
    Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
    Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
    We will start with that, and go from there!
    Hope this helps!

  • DPM 2012 Manual Agent Install Fails

    Hello Everyone,
    Using DPM 2012 SP1, I've been stuck on an issue for some time now in trying to get a DPM agent install accomplished on a certain server. The DPM server resides on a parent domain and the server that I am having an issue with is on a child domain. Other servers
    on the child domain have installed the agent without issue when doing it manually.
    Here is the command I use (as an administrator):
    net use X: \\DPMSERVERNAME.parentdomain.com\c$
    cd /d X:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\DPM\agents\RA\4.1.3465.0\amd64\1033
    DPMAgentInstaller_KB2991995_AMD64.exe dpmservername.parentdomain.com
    The installation proceeds through the Microsoft License Terms, begins to install and then backs out. The error message that is generated states: "DPMAgentinstaller failed with error code = 0X80070643 error says: fatal error during installation"
    In researching the 1708 error within the log file it lead me to the fact that maybe the firewall on the target server was the issue. I
    ran this suggested fix on the target server:
    netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=\"@FirewallAPI.dll,-29502\" new enable=yes
    netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=\"@FirewallAPI.dll,-34251\" new enable=yes
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=dpmra dir=in program=\"%PROGRAMFILES%\\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\\DPM\\bin\\DPMRA.exe\" profile=Any action=allow
    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=DPMRA_DCOM_135 dir=in action=allow  protocol=TCP localport=135 profile=Any
    The issue still persists.

    Any ideas where to turn next?

    I do not have a Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\DPM\ProductionAgents\RA\4.1.3313.0\amd64
    file path on the DPm system.
    Rather Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\DPM\ProtectionAgents\RA\4.1.3313.0\amd64
    Still, I ran the DPMAgentInstaller_x64.exe
    from that file path and the agent did not install.
    Also, on the DPM server I have added the target machine name to the DPMRADmTrustedMachines
    group. I also made sure that the domain service account is in the same group. Still no luck.

  • Firefox won't up date automaticly, or manually, "the patch keeps failing". Has worked fine for yrs.! until 10 days . Happening with computer using XP home pro

    Firefox has worked flawlessly for yrs until 10 days ago. Firefox tries to upgrade / update automatically but can't and my attempts to update manually also fail. each time the failure is because :
    " The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)"
    What ever a patch is, I don't know.
    This is happening on two of my computers. Both using XP with service pack 3.
    Both use Comodo CIS...and have for over a year.

    Hello,
    Try installing a new copy of Firefox:
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
    Or if you need a different localized version:
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
    Does Comodo CIS itself block the installation? After downloading the latest version, try putting the executable for Firefox on a safe list if you can.

  • Need to push failed datapackage manually

    Hi ,
       While dataloading in infopackage , last datapackage contain 10k records got failed.. is it possible to push it manually that failed datapackage alone.Please help me on this.Else it will take 10 hours to redo the activiy
    Regrds,
    MohammeD

    Hi,
    As you told you have issue with last data packet, first check with what error it got failed.
    check the job log in SM37 and check the error. It depends on error whether we can update manually or not.
    Lets take an example your data package failed with error in data records, then you can follow the below procedure.
    Note: to do the below one you should have selected with PSA option.
    1)  make the request red and delete the request from target.
    2) Now goto PSA and edit the error records and save it.
    3) Now come back to RSA1.
    4) search for your data source and right click select "manage"
    5) you will have latest request request which is not updated to the target.
    6) Select the request then click on update, it will be loaded to the target.
    Note: If you don't have PSA, i mean in IP if you have not selected the option " PSA and then data target ". In this case no other way, you have to run the load again.
    Regards,
    Venkatesh.

  • Client installs fail for push or manual

    This one has got me stumped, hopefully someone can give me some ideas of what to look at.

  • DPM Agent Installer Fails with errorcode =0x80070643

    I've seen this all over the place. Sometimes it's with DPM 2007 but I'm using an evaluation version of DPM 2010. I'm trying to install the agent on a protected server running Windows
    2008 Standard with Service Pack 2. This is our Exchange 2007 server and is also running ForeFront.
    I initially tried installing from the DPM server and received the following error code
    Install protection agent on PS failed:
    Error 313: The agent operation failed because an error occurred while running the installation program on PS.
    Error details: Fatal error during installation (0x80070643)
    Recommended action: Review the log files on PS: [windir]\temp\msdpm*.log and take appropriate action. Retry the operation, and if the error persists, restart the computer
    and then retry the operation again.
    I reviewed the error logs but I didn't know exactly what to look for and I don't see anything that jumps out at me.
    On other sites I have seen instructions for a manual install on the protected server after disabeling the firewall and so I tried that.
    On the protected server I mapped a drive to the folder containing the agent on the DPM server. I ran Net stop mpssvc. Then I launched the installer  DPMAgentInstaller_x64.exe. When
    I ran that I received a different error.
    DPMAgentInstaller failed with errorcode =0x80070643, error says: Fatal error during installation.
    Check log files in [WINDIR]temp\MSDPM*.LOG
    Press Enter key to close the window
    I rebooted and tried again with the same error.
    On another page I read that someone asked about the paging file so I verified that there was sufficient space allocated (only 2/3 of the allocated space is being used).
    Our primary partition has over 50GB of free space and our data partition has over 370 GB free.
    I can post sections of the log files if that would help.
    Thanks

    Dan,
    This is usually a problem with the installer. I've seen this in DPMRA.msi installation failures when In some instances the default permissions of the scheduled tasks directory altered.
    The following is a sample from the failing MSDPMAgentBoostrap0Curr.errlog file.
    WARNING Failed: Hr: = [0x80070424] : F: lVal : (HANDLE)(schService = OpenServiceW( schSCManager, strServiceName.PeekStr(), (0x00010000L) | 0x0020 | 0x0004 | 0x0002))
    WARNING Failed: Hr: = [0x80070424] DeleteServiceByName for service[DPMClientService] failed
    WARNING Failed: Hr: = [0x80070002] : Error while deleting the Scheduled Task [ScheduledDPMClientBackup]
    WARNING Failed: Hr: = [0x80070002] DeleteScheduledTaskByName failed
    WARNING Failed: Hr: = [0x80070005] : F: lVal : pTaskScheduler->NewWorkItem(pwszClientTaskName, CLSID_CTask, IID_ITask, (IUnknown**)&pTask)
    WARNING Failed: Hr: = [0x80070005] AddScheduledTaskForClient failed
    The service deletion failure is fine since it fails with 0x80070424 (ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST - The specified service does not exist as an installed service). The same goes with the scheduled task deletion with the error 0x80070002 (ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND
    - The system cannot find the file specified). The installer was removing old services or tasks that may be lingering and if they do not exist we will get the above errors.
    The access is denied error on the task creation is the aberration that must be addressed.
    The permissions on %windir%\Tasks need to allow write access to the account doing the DPMRA.msi install.
    Some have implemented group policies to lock down the permissions on the Tasks directory. This was done to combat the Conficker worm. Please see
    KB 962007 Virus alert about the Win32/Conficker worm for more details.
    Note: You must reset the default permissions on the Task directory. See the "After the environment is fully cleaned" section of the KB article.
    If not this let us know.

  • SSIS fails to load files from network when executed via SQL server Agent (SQL server 2008 R2 SP 2)

    Hi All,
    I have a simple SSIS package that reads a flat file and copies it into a SQL Server table.
    When the flat fiel is on the C drive I have no problem runnign this package from SQL Server Agent, but as soon as I update the path to a network location the package only works when I run it manually, but fails when is executed via the SQL Server agent job.
    The error says "cannot open the datafile", while the datafile location is valid.
    Is this a kind of limitation of a SQL Server Agent that only local files are allowed to be processed?
    Thanks,
    Andrei
