  • Where can I find the PDF manual for Premiere Elements?

Does Adobe have a full manual in PDF file format for Premiere Elements 9.0?
P.S. Watch out for trying to handle large (> 700meg) AVI files.  Phone support says I'm SOL on bringing in my 6.5 gig 24 minute file.  Their solution?
Bring it in small chunks or buy a new computer with more than 8gig of RAM.  Why don't they just tell you before you buy, that unless you have an awsome computer, don't waste your money on our software?

    Thanks John
I have reviewed the online information, and the DVD's and still don't see a full blown manual (PDF file format or otherwise).  If all you get is the
    Using Adobe Premiere Elements 9
Getting started with Adobe Premiere Elements
    Adobe Premiere Elements workspace
    Projects
    Capturing video
    , etc links
Then you ain't getting much information.

  • Manually remove Premiere Elements 11

I have a Windows 7 PC and Office 2007 Home Premium with Adobe CS6 and Premiere Elements installed.  I recently upgraded to an SSD and Elements didn't take well to it.  I wanted to uninstall it and then do a clean install onto the new SSD.  When I try do remove  it, though, I get a 1316 error message that "Adobe Premiere Elements.msi" is missing.  Interestingly, I searched for this on both of my drives and couln't find it, then went to my mirror back-up from before the SSD install and couldn't find it there either!
It seems the best solution is to manually remove the folders and files, although I don't know what or where they are.  I did find a list of PSE 8 files and folders, but was concerned about going back three revisions.
I would like a list of the files and folders used by Premiere Elements 11.  Also, are all of the "Media, People, Places, Events", etc. in Elements safely saved with the photos?  I definitely wouldn't want to loose all that information!

  • Premiere Elements 10 - Moving Pictures to Time Line

Have version 10 and no manual is available yet, so a simple question im sure.
I have say 100 pictures that I want to move into my movie, making a slide show of sorts.
Is there a way to move them all and set the time (or number of frames) that each picture is shown.
So select all 100 pictures and move to time line and set the time to display each one to 1 second as example.
Is there a way to select multiple pictures on the time line and set them all to be shown for a specific time.
I know that a silgle item can be selected on the time line and manualy dragged to make it a specifice time,
but can this time be entered by entering a time/frames value?  I'd like to change the time on all 100 at the same time.
My objective is to make a fast moving slide show from pictures, being able to set the on screen time for each one to
the same value, all at once, not having to select each one on the time line and manually adjust it picture by picture.
    Dave

    Sure is.
First, before you load the photos into Premiere Elements, go to Edit/Preferences and set the duration for each still. You must do this before you import your pictures because it only affects stills added after you make this change.
Then, before you bring your pictures in, open them in a program like Photoshop Elements and make sure they are all no larger than 1000x750 pixels. Photo Elements has a batch change feature under the File menu called Process Multiple Files.
Then use Get Media/From Files and Folders and bring your pictures into your project. If you've got them named in alpha numeric order, they'll appear in the Media panel in the right order and you can grab them all at once and drag them to the timeline. Voila!
All of this and more is in my books, by the way -- for better or worse, the ONLY manuals for Premiere Elements and the Photo Elements/Premiere Elements combo (aside from Adobe's Classroom in a Book). You can read about it and see some walk-throughs of its new features here:

  • No Manual for Adobe Premiere Elements 9?

Hi, First time posting.  I just purchased Adobe Premiere Elements / Photoshop 9 this weekend for my Mac.  My first (of probably many questons) is whether an electronic manual comes with it.  I can't seem to find it either on the the DVDs or installed on my computer.  Am I missing something?

    Hi Valmundo,
can appreciate your frustration - I had the same trouble with Adobe.
Try this site:- prodesigntools.com  They have a 95 page manual in pdf which should suit.
And if you are wondering where the adobe gamma they promised to include with the software has gone ?
    If using W7 try this:-
    go to Control Panel and
    click on        "screen resolution"
                       "Advanced Settings"
                       "colour management" (twice)
                       "Advanced"
"Calibrate display" and follow the instructions. It works OK with my LCD monitor.
    Good photography, Jaunogre.

  • Error while uninstalling Premiere Elements 4, anyone got a manual procedure?

    Hi and thanks for helping!
    I've got a Win-XP/Pro-SP3 system.
I've had the Premiere Elements 4 + Photoshop Elements 6 bundle installed for quite some time and upgraded to the bundle with v7 of both apps last year. Apparently, while installing the 7s, it did not uninstall the prior versions.  To reclaim some disk space, I'm trying to uninstall the older versions.
The uninstaller for Premiere Elements 4, (run from the add/remove programs tool on the control panel or directly from the distribution media), pops an Error 1606: Cannot access network location  :. and quits. I've tried the faith healing steps from both the Adobe Knowledgebase as well as the referenced articles from the Microsoft Knowledgebase (sort of completely uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office since I really don't think that's the issue). No joy.
The uninstaller for Photoshop Elements 6 runs to completion uninstalling that program. The installers for both version 7s of the apps run (although I abort them before they actually start changing files). The Acrobat Standard installer runs fine.  It's just the Premiere Elements 4 installer that is quitting.
I have a suspicion that someplace along the line, a registry scan process removed some key that it thought was safe but is crucial to getting the uninstaller to run.
I can certainly delete the appropriate program files\adobe subfolder, but there are also bits and pieces over in the Common folders plus in the docs&settings appdata folders.  And there are lots of registry keys.
I read the "delete the folder and run a registry cleaner" suggestion which is certainly a move of last resort.  But does anyone have a manual uninstall that identifies all the folders, random files, and keys that should be deleted to remove Premiere Elements 4 without impacting any of the other AdobeApps?
Thanks again for reading and thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi Hunt,
Excellent suggestions regarding going to the backups to find the missing key.  It didn't work, but it was still a great suggestion.  Since I couldn't get the (un)installer to run past the point of checking space requirements before the 1606 error, I couldn't run the repair cycle.  I contemplated the system restore carefully, but the restore point would probably have been well over a year ago. Good thought on the after market uninstallers but I agree that unless they were around to watch the 'goes-in', there's no telling what they'll to on the 'goes-out'.  Given the crap-shoot of trying to pick a reputable after market uninstaller to blindly remove APE4 without hosing anything else, I opted to take fate into my own hands...
So, I spooled a copy of the drive off to the back-up unit, flushed the folders, swept about 700 keys from the registry [700!!], and will keep fingers crossed for a little while.  Cursory checks on the other Adobe apps appear stable but we'll see what happens when I actually try to do a project.
In hindsight, apart from possibly being able to check the registry for each and every file before removal and compiling some list of all the things it was going to do for human review, the basic process a blind uninstaller would do use is pretty much what I did. And since most of those tool are designed for unskilled operators, I probably wouldn't have found one that was quite so dilligent in its reporting and actions anyway.
Thanks for the guidance -- you at least confirmed that the path I was planning through the wilderness was reasonable.  I'd pour you a glass of one of our fine NY State wines right here, but it would just gum up the keyboard.
    Best regards,
    joe

  • Is there a way to create and edit a video in portrait mode / 9:16 in Premiere Elements 12 or 13. Playback on an iPhone in portrait position.

I'm editing iPhone app video for posting as the first screen in the Apple app store. Required size for the video is 750:1334, 9:16. I there a way to setup the initial video in portrait mode? Many posts for how to rotate a specific clip, but I need the whole video in portrait position. How to accomplish this? I'm using Windows 7 and Premiere Elements 12 and now 13.

    LaurieFrick
Thanks for giving this portrait Edit area monitor shape a look.
I have Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit and have done the work using Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 7 64 bit.
Here is a step by step
Find the DSLR [email protected] file
    Local Disk C\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 12\Settings\SequencePresets\NTSC\DSLR\1080p\
And, in that 1080p Folder is the DSLR 1080p30@ 29.97.sqpreset file that you seek.
    1. Copy the
    DSLR 1080p30@ 29.9.sqpreset fileI
and paste it to the computer desktop in a newly created folder named 1920p.
    2. Open the 1920p Folder and edit the ..sqpreset file in Notepad.
To do that right click the .sqpreset, and, from the pop up, select Open With and then Notepad.
    3. In the Notepad document, you are going to edit in only 2 places for now, switching 1920 and 1080 to 1080 and 1920 at the top and bottom
    sections of the Notepad document.
Then go specifically File Menu/Save of the Notepad document and hit Save.
    4. At this point, you have the edited.sqpreset file in the 1920p Folder on the computer desktop.
(Change the name of the edited .sqpreset file so that it = DSLR [email protected])
Move the 1920p Folder from there to add it to the 1080p Folder, the location where you found the original .sqpreset file that you edited.
    Close out of there.
    5. Back in the Premiere Elements 12/12.1, manually set the project preset to the new project preset
    6. When you import your 1080 x 1920 9:16 video file into the project and drag it into the Timeline, you should see
Note that there is no orange line over that Timeline content, indicating that you are seeing
the best possible preview of the image.
    7. As I wrote before,
But, here is the hang up. If I render the Timeline content to get the best possible preview at the Edit level, the video in the Edit area monitor
squeezes in resulting in black borders to the left and right of the video image on screen.
But, otherwise I found I had no problems editing or exporting, just had to keep away from Timeline rendering for previewing after an edit. Need to find the missing ingredient for 100%.
I will be writing this up in my blog in a more organized fashion including how I got the project preset description in Change Settings to agree with the changes. Probably I will do that in the morning.

  • How do I use Premiere Elements 9 to synch and mix 2 video feeds?

I am trying to put together a wrestling television show using Premiere Elements 9. We use 2 different cameras, a stationary hard camera and a moving ring camera. In the past I have used an Avio system where I manually synched the 2 feeds and then I was able to drag and drop the ring camera feed on to the stationary hard camera.  How do I do this function using this software? Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE does not have direct multi-cam functionality. PrPro does, allowing one to sync up to 4 cameras, and if you Nest Multi-camera Sequences, you can do more, though not quite so easily as with four.
With PrE, it's probably easiest to place your main camera Clip(s) on Video Track 1, and edit that as needed. Then, bring in the second camera's Clip(s) onto Video Track 2, and reduce the Fixed Effect>Opacity to ~ 40 - 50%, so that you can "see through" them. Then, adjust those, Trimming, as desired, leaving gaps between them. When done, change the Effect>Opacity back to 100%. Transitions can then be applied, if desired, to the Head & Tail of each of those Video Track 2 Clips.
So long as the footage from the two cameras is the same Frame Size, and also matches the Project's Preset Frame Size, nothing more needs to be done, as the footage on Video Track 2 will just visually replace any Frames on Video Track 1.
If you do much multi-cam work, PrPro might be a great investment, as it's Multi-Camera feature will make life so very, very easy.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - it seems that a few months ago, there was another multi-cam question here, and that Steve Grisetti had a slightly different workflow, than the one that I described. I will post a link to that thread, if I can find it.

  • Premiere Elements freezing and closing after adding a Menu.

I have been making movies with Premiere Elements for awhile now.  Ever since I started, I have had the same problem.  It would hang, and eventually close on me.  I then got the new version, PE8 a while back.  Unfortunately, I still had the same problem.
I made an entire video having trouble with the freezing problem.  But I put up with it and saved every few minutes.  Now I get to the end and made the Menu pages.  When I almost finished it, it closes on me.  I keep trying to go back into it, with absolutely NO success!  I have been dealing with this for a long time, so I am well aware of needing to turning off the internet and virus software with the realtime scanning.  I also have been manually closing everything I can in my startup menu.
Every so often I restart to see if that helps, but no help.  So, I have been looking at the conversations here for a while recently and have tried what I think is everything.  I made sure I had the updated version of Elements 8.  I updated everything, all the important and optional updates.  Made sure my graphics card was up to date.  I don't use QuickTime, but I updated it anyway.  I ran Disc Cleanup and Defrag.  I did the MsConfig disabling bonjour, apple mobile, ITunes, Reader.  I had it boot without GUI.  I even disabled the Windows Indexing feature.
Even after all that, every time I open PE8, I gives me the warning message that it is running low on memory!  I don't know what else to do.  Please help.
Now I know you all want to know what the details of my system are, so here it is.
    Dell XPS 420
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Service Pack 2
Intel Core Quad CPU Q9450 2.66 GHz
    4.00 GB Ram
    32 bit OS
    600GB Hard Drive
    207 Free disc space
My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series with the driver version 8.850.0.0  Dated 4/19/2011.
I believe that is all that you need.  If I forgot anything, please let me know.
    Thanks for your help,  Sharon

Only having one hard drive will mean that your computer will run SLOW, but that should not cause a shut-down

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for video editing

A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • How do I sharpen video from DSLR in Premiere Elements 11?

I've been using PE11 for some time now. Mostly for home videos and a youtube channel. Up until this point I have used a Canon Vixia HF M-50 which was great. I had to do very little adjusting the picture in post for what I needed. But I just recieved a Canon 7D with a couple good lenses and I will be selling the Vixia. I know the 7D has the capability to take much better video and I am getting better at the manual settings. Most tutorials out there say to have your settings with the sharpness and contrast turned all the way down and adjust in post. The sharpen "effect" doesn't really do much and my footage from the vixia looks much sharper. Any help out there for a newb? Or am I going to have to upgrade my computer and software to keep up with the new equipment?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for getting back
I used a Samsung SMX-F40BP/XEU "Handycam" recording from the the image projected on to a screen. This produced mp4 video files on an SD Card, H.264/AVC Format with AAC Audio
I then dragged and dropped the raw video files on to the PC hard drive, and added the folder to the Adobe Organizer.
    When creating the projects I
    1)     Create a a New Project PAL Standard DV 48KHz to match the 4:3 aspect ratio of the original film
    2)     Drag the video/clip I intend to work with from the organizer window in to the work are of Adobe Premiere Elements 11.
When I was originally doing this yesterday for the first 15 clips, when added to the timeline, the video clips appeared as 1 contiguous clip as in the first image i posted.
When i went to work today I noticed that when i dragged a clip from the organiser to the work area, the video took longer to appear on the timeline, I could see the progress as it was added, with lines appearing where scenes/splits are being automatically added as in the second image I posted.
I noticed first thing that the clips were appearing in the organiser window with different icons, and in some cases I could expand the clips to see all scenes that had apparently been generated automatically. All clips in the orgnaiser now appear with the same icon, and are all expandable.
If i now create a new project and use one of the original clips that originally appeared as 1 contiguous clip on the timeline, it is now split automatically, as with the later clips.
