Manual Zen agent removal

I am trying to upgrade my Zen agent install from Zen 6.5sp2 agent to Zen
7sp1 agent. There appears to be a problem with my current install of the Zen
6.5 agent that prevents the install from automatically removing it pryor to
the Zen 7 install. I have tried uninstalling the 6.5 agent manually through
add/remove programs but the uninstall fails.
My question is this....
How do I remove the Zen 6.5 agent manually so that all traces are gone from
my machine? Thanks...

That tool doesn't remove zen-agent. It just can remove installer
configuration for it. In order to really remove agent you should use
msiexec /X package.msi or msiexec /X{package_GUID}. In Zen 6.5 case that
would be MsiExec.exe /X{51E7C053-8ED5-4BB8-AEA7-69AECED4A282} (or
something like that. Right line can be found in
/HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall) .
Cleaning installer configuration might help solving
installation/uninstallation problems though, so if those above lines
don't work, then use CleanUP utility and try again.

  • ZEN Agent install without admin rights

    Hi all,
Sorry to re-visit something I've seen a number of posts on, but I can't
seem to get things to work as I've been lead to believe they should. We
have a handful of systems that do not have any instance of the ZEN agent
installed, a mix of NT and XP (odd, I know). We are attempting to create
an automated process that will establish whether the agent is on the
system and if it is not, install it. Seems pretty straight forward and
I've been referencing the following suggestions. There are a number of
posts in the forums as well, but these were the most relevant.
    http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/trench/3490.html

    http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/trench/3383.html
    http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/se...?/10073212.htm
The problem is, despite what these instructions say, we cannot install the
agent without having local admin rights. All the batch files are in
place, and work, but ultimately the install fails. I've seen work arounds
for any OS later than NT, but its important that every system have the
    agent.
I've tried almost everything suggested in the links above but I am
primarily pursuing the batch file approach as detailed in...
    http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/se...?/10085696.htm
At what point are rights elevated such that the install can complete in an
    NT environment?
I am sure I'm forgetting some relevant details, so humor me please.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

I forgot that RunAs does not come with NT. ( It's available as an add-on,
but even that needs admin rights to install.)
Try PSExec from http://www.sysinternals.com, but I believe that will not
work either, but worth a shot.
Another outside shot is to push the "AlwaysInstallElevated" MSI installer
registry keys via a batch file.
Unfortunately, I doubt your logged on user has the rights to do this
    either..............
You may be stuck manually visiting and installing manually.

  • Command line login to ZEN agent

We use clientless Win XP machines connecting to ZENWorks via the middle
tier server. I have installed the ZEN agent with passive mode. However,
is there a way that when I log on to Windows Active Directory, in the
background I can log on to the Middle Tier Server with another generic
Novell Account and password? Something like a batch file that I can put in
start up to launch ZENworks with a command line?

    I don't know.
I never tried it, but I was told that by somebody smart that they
"Suspected it would work though they had not tested."
Could you please export the changes you made to a reg file and paste
that text here? I will not have access to my ZEN lab for a few weeks
which is in a different state than me at the moment, so I am going to
forward this back to someone. Before doing so, I want to make sure I
can give them exactly what you did to same them some time.

Before I install CS4 (design standard) do I need to manually or otherwise remove CS1 (the original Creative Suite)?
I am using an iMac OS 10.5.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB, 800 MHz. AllI know is that you can't upgrade from CS1.
I am in the misdt of several production projects and can't afford a mistake or down time. Thanks for any and all help.
P.S. Is Snow Leopard compatiable with CS4?
    Thanks, Compositor Rick

You can upgrade from CS1 to CS4. CS1 will be out of the upgrade path when CS5 is released.
You don't need to remove CS1 it does not conflict with CS4. I have CS1 through CS4 installed and playing nicely together.
CS4 is compatible but  I would stay with 10.5.8 until Apple gets most of the bugs worked out of Snow Leopard. that is usually about the 4th update.

With the new version of iTunes, how do I manually add or remove music to my iPhone? I don't see my playlist anymore on the left...

App asserts I must have iTunes ver. 9.1 or later.
    Where are you seeing this?
The app is not telling you that you need 9.1 on your iPad.
It does not use iTunes on the iPad for anything.
I'm trying to figure the version on my iPad.
It is the version that comes with your specific iOS firmware version.
But again, it is irrelevant to the app.
If you just got the iPad, it (the iPad) requires iTunes 10.4 on your computer.

Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.

how to manually add or remove content on your iPhone

the following instruction does not apply to iphone5. hence I was stuck at looking for the "Add to" step !
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535?viewlocale=en_US
Manually add or remove content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
After following the steps above, you can add individual songs, videos, and playlists from iTunes to your device. To add content to your device:
    Select your device.
    Click "On this Device".
Then choose "Add to" in the upper right corner.
While viewing the media in your iTunes Library, if you drag a song, video, TV show, or Movie a sidebar will show up on the right. You can drag content onto the device.  You can also create and modify playlists directly on the device.

  • Creative zen micro removable disk sp

When I go to copy files, on xp it will say cannot find specified file after a while of copying, different file every time, data is lost and someething. I re-format it every seperate time (I have to). I originally tried on ubuntu. Freezes after a couple hundred megabytes.
I would try to copy less files at once but I am hoping for an answer to make it more stable since I wanted to backup files not put them on the most precarious storage device I've ever used.
I think the hard dri've is wrecked again but just verifying.

sorry about the first post..dont know what happened... But anyways, hello. I have a problem with ymk removable disk. i put data that i NEED on there and i ahd to wipe my computer dri've. when i got it up and running again and it did the self install of the removable disk drivers it makes the ZEN MIRCO REMOVABLE DISK show up as a disk dri've and not a removable disk dri've. when i try to access it it says it needs to be formatted. I have uninstalled it and done it again (through device manager) and it still came up a a disk dri've..any idea how to fix this?

  • Manually Installed Agent is not showing up in the Operations Manager Console Under Pending Management.

    Hi Community,
I submitted this question because I'm a bit stuck with SCOM 2012 R2, I'll try to explain briefly what is happening right now in my environment,  we have a DEV SCOM Deployment in which all the roles are installed in a single server, this servers is a
VMware machine running Windows Server 2008R2.
The Initial installation of the SCOM Operations Manager and all the other components was not performed by me but by a co-worker, unfortunately he doesn't remember much about the initial configuration. So i had to pickup where he left things about a year
ago, neither of us are SCOM experts, and we have almost no previous experience with previous versions of this application.
Now the problem that I'm facing is the following, all the DEV Servers are Domain Controllers and one of the indication within the "Guide for System Center Management Pack for Active Directory for Operations Manager 2012" states the following
    Configuration
    Supported?
    Agent-less monitoring
    No
After my first review I notice that our servers were being monitor by agent-less mode and given the above statement from the Operations Guide the only way that we could ever get those domain controllers monitor by SCOM would be by installing the agent on
each server, so I read somewhere (Can't remember where) that in order to install the agents in all the servers I should first remove them from the Agent-less node, which I did. Then I tried to use the discovery wizard to get the agent install in all of them
but it didn't matter how many times I try the servers never show up.
I read in a Tech Net Article that you had to modify the security settings so SCOM would let me decide if I wanted to approve it or not.
    --> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212853.aspx
I performed the suggested steps from the article but still the servers were not showing up, not even if I run the Discovery wizard, so I decided to go and perform the installation manually in a couple of servers I was able to install the agent in one of
the Domain Controllers, I configured the agent to use a service account that has Domain Admin rights. An hour after I installed the agent I went back to the Operations Console Manager and I check under Pending Action but the Server was not showing up. So i
went back to the Internet to try to find out if someone else had experience the same problem, and in one website some mentioned that if the servers were not showing up it was probably because they were still register in the SCOM Database, now I have no idea
of how i can check that or How can i remove them from there to have them available again, but what troubles me the most is that even after i installed the agent manually the server were not being recognize.
I went to the Event Viewer and I found one particular event that caught my attention, see below :

Not sure if this is related to the problem that I'm facing right now, but , I make sure that the RPC Services were running and also the related dependencies too. There's no Firewall enable in any of the servers and DNS seems to be working properly.
Ports 135 / 5723 are open and listening so since I ran out of ideas, I would like to know if some of the experts in this field could perhaps give me some guidelines.
There's one caveat that I haven't mention yet and that is related to SQL, I checked and my user just has read access to SQL i'm not sure if that could affect this but i think is worth mentioning.
My main goal is to have all the servers showing up in the Operations Manager Console.
So thanks all in advance !

So you can ping and nslookup from your ms to these agents and vice versa right?  I wouldn't do a manual install, I would push the agent from the management server.  You can uninstall the agent manually, or use cleanmom to get rid of them.  Then
do an install from the console.  When you initiate the install from the console (management server), should it run into any issues it will dump out an error which will give you an idea of where the problem may be.
    From Holmans post on this:

  • Zen Agent and "Workstation Only"?

We're using the Zen 6.5sp2 agent and NO CLIENT in our remote locations.
Users are consistently choosing to login to the local workstation without
authenticating to eDir, which causes obvious difficulties in
package/policy distribution. I would like to do one of two things:
    1. Set the Agent to default to Workstation Only = 0 so that the Agent
doesn't remember the last setting -OR-
    2. Remove the "Workstation Only" checkbox from the login (I found this reg
key) and then REDUCE the network timeout.
    Any suggestions?

I don't have the collection of settings on me but I can get them.
What I did in clientless environments is to enable "PassiveMode" on the
clients so that the MS GUI was shown and not the NWGina.
With the MS Gina, users would just automatically login to E-Dir in the
    background through the middle-tier.
There would never even be an option for them to not log into E-dir.
At http://www.zenworks.com there is a Group Policy maintained by Shaun
Pond for the Novell Client that I suspect would also include the
required settings for ZEN as well but I am not sure.
I would check it out. I dont have the link but it should not be hard.
I presume a GP would be an easy way to keep the settings you want.

  • SCOM R2 agent removed but stays in Computer field under monitoring

We have servers that needs retired, so I uninstall from the console and the servers disappear from the agent managed view. But if you look under computers in the monitoring view the server is still there. When we were on SP1 we had a similar issue and i contacted MS and we got a script to clear it out out of the database (Orphaned Servers)
now that we are on R2 it seems the script doesnt work because it can not locate the name..any suggestion on this
agent manage and computers are off by 22 when they should be the same

Hi I have the same problem.
I have lot of machines in the computer view which are not available in the Agent managed view. that machine was deleted more than 2 weeks ago.
We found the following on the net:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Server_Applications/Q_26893576.html
You will need to remove the objects from the Database. This is fairly easy to do. Here are the steps that i use when i have this issue.
System Center Operations Manager 2007 stores all "entities" it "manages" in the BaseManagedEntity table in the Operational database (named "OperationsManager", by default). This is the place where we will be manually telling SCOM that this computer does
not exist anymore. There's a column called "IsDeleted" that stores if the agent was removed.
    1. Connect to the SCOM SQL server and open SQL Management studio
    2. Right click on OperationsManager database and select new query
    3. Run the following query in the right window  to see the status of
    ALL computers in SCOM
SELECT * FROM dbo.[BasemanagedEntity] where FullName Like '%Windows.Computer%'
    4. To see the status of a specific computer in SCOM (replace the text "fqdn" with the server name)
SELECT * FROM dbo.[BasemanagedEntity] where FullName Like '%Windows.Computer%' and Name Like '%FQDN.of.my.computer%'
    5. In the results scroll to the right to find the "IsDeleted" column. 0(Zero) means the database does not know the computer has been deleted. If it is zero then we will run the next command to change it to 1 (one)
replace the text "fqdn" with the server name
UPDATE dbo.[BasemanagedEntity] SET IsDeleted = 1 where FullName Like '%Windows.Computer%' and Name Like '%FQDN.of.my.computer%'
Going back to the Operations Console to the Monitoring & Computer section, shows us that the computer does not show in the list already. It will still take some time before it really gets deleted in the database, but visually you are already set.
(Do note that the machine and its child objects like disk and CPU are still there in the Data Warehouse. This will stay there until that expired there also; which is 360 days by default).
