Maploader 1.1g problems.

I format mine MicroSD 2GB card and installed new Nokia Mapsloader v1.1g.
I chosed:
Europe
China
Hong Kong
Taiwan
Oklahoma City
Japan
Voice:
Swedish
Cantonese
English (US)
English (UK)
Now some of the swedish character displays with weirds character ex:
Göteborg -> G^|teborg
Looks like it can't display the swedish åäö correct and replaced it with some weird character instead.
Didn't had this problem with maploader 1.0.
Also, when i ran the maploader, after a while it shows up an error message, about GDI+ error and i don't know what it's all about.
But downloading the maps + voices works fine, but i wonder if that GDI+ error that shows up had causing my weird swedish character displays on the maps?
Anyone know how to fix this, thanks!

Hi dt888
I presume that your Windows NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 are up to date, which Nokia software heavily relies on. This is not an uncommon event "Generic GDI+ Error when saving bitmaps or working with images"
The chances are if you deleted maps and reloaded, this error might not appear, however there have been other language issues recorded with Maploader v1.1 in the past; it doesn't show properly street and city names with unicode characters.
I might suggest at this stage "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

  • Nokia maploader 2.0 problem

I install nokia map loader version 2.0 and when I want to use it, my desktop shows "The pc suite version installed on your pc is not compatible with map loader. Please update your pc suite software". My PC suite is version1.6.80.0.

You may have the N Series Pcsuite. You need the normal pcsuite to use Map Loader.
You can download the normal pcsuite from www.nokia.com/pcsuite

  • Problem with maploader

i have an e50 nokia phone, i have downloaded and installed the maps app(smart2go) also have installed the maploader. i want to download some map just for information not for navigation, but the maploader does not find my phone, i have used the maps from my phone( i mean i have opened the application) help!!!!

OMG this fone (N95) is doing my head in. Im having PROBLEM with installing the smart2go into the fone. Ive downloaded & saved into a PC file however everytime i tried to intall it into the fone, a message popped up "Update error!". Could anyone please tell me what it means and how do i go about installing it.
Ive just had the fone for 3 days and im loosing my patience. The dealer told me i had to download the map before i can use the GPS by going to www.nokia.com/maps ... iIve gone into it and there are 2 free softwares for N95 NokiaMaps and MapLoader. The website recommended downloading NokiaMap first (which is the smart2go) before downloading MapLoader. ( We recommend installing Nokia Maps on your mobile device prior to installing Nokia MapLoader on your PC.)Ive tried MANY times for both PC Suites and Mass Storafe modes and it didnt work. So i decided to install NokiaMapLoader into the fone before NokiaMaps and it took ages. The downloading time was like 14 hours. and so i cancelled after half an hr waiting for 0.3% download.
Could you guys please be kind enough to show me how to use this thing n get the GPS works because its driving me up the wall. wts all the fuss about?? this is a duff.
    Thanks very much

  • Nokia Maploader problem with N95

No i do not have a connectivity error with Maploader.
I cannot start the program at all. After installing. I click on the program then I see a splashscreen. And under the splashscreen I see a message saying That maploader is a program to transfer maps on your Nokia. Fine till then.
When I click OK I get a message Maploader doesn't work anymore: It has never worked!! And the program disappears
I tried both versions Smart2go and Nokia (both are the same)
I have Vista, I also did a reboot after install---> No Go
I tried WinXp SP2 compatibility---> nope not working.
I already opened Maps several times on the N95
don't really know what to do now.

Map Loader often fails for unknown reasons.
If you can put your memory card into a card reader, you can use AvMapsLoader by Andreas Vogel.
    - program: http://sites.google.com/site/avesomega/AvMapsLoader
    - review: http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2009/02/nokia-map-loader-alternative.html
If that doesn't work for you, just download the maps with your web browser and extract them to the map folder on your phone:
    - Nokia Map Loader Alternative: http://nokiamaps.site666.info
If your phone can go online by WiFi or if you have unmetered mobile internet you don't even need a computer to preload maps on your phone.
Of course you can also keep troubleshooting Nokia's own map loader until it works, but that can take such a long time that the alternatives are often faster and easier.
With WiFi and fast mobile internet all over the place Nokia should code a lightweight map loader for Symbian. There's no reason for not doing so, because downloading and unzipping map files really doesn't need hundreds of megabytes worth of Map Loader, PC suite, and .net framework. It doesn't need to take much more than a web browser (already present in Symbian), a zip program (already present in new versions of Nokia's firmware), and some code to make 'em work together.

  • N95 Maploader Problem

    Hello Member,
Please help me, I have tried to download map from maploader. It said that I need to use the Maps application at least once before using the Nokia Maploader. I did open up the existing map application on my phone. After that I tried to download map off the maploader. But it kept saying the same message "Please connect your device to your computer.........remeber that you need to use the Maps applcation.........."
I have no idea how to make my GPS useful! Please help me.
    Thank you so muchhhhhhhhhhh

    Hi icebaby
Due to size of Maps download you really need a microSD. Make sure that this is in N95 when you open Maps application. When you close it you see "saving map data" above the globe on screen, this creates folder structure on memory card.
Although you can connect phone to PC as "mass storage device" to download Maps, it will be a lot quicker to insert microSD in card reader on PC!

  • After update N95 8gb i got big problems.

I make a backup of all but not the 8gb-memory, and restured all after upate, and everyting seems to work fine.
First problem; i see now i have no 3g 3 (no connection) competely dead, i can not use the phone to communicate.
Strange everything work fine after update yesterday and this morning, something happen when it was in the locker at work.
And now i can't use Maploader, it say i have no memorycard, i understand that problem, i delete the whole Cities-folder this morning, because i dont need Nokia GPS-program Wayfinder anymoore, i choose Nav4all instead, i try the maploader only to for testing, i don't want to download any maps.
I test maploader now only bacause my phone is completely dead in communication, try to find out why.
I check in Nokia Nseries PC Suit everything on PC & mobil are the latest update.
I have another mobile SE M600i with 3g 3-cashcard, i by that cashcard only to enable the phone to start, not for communication, that mobile have full 3g (and probably work fine).
Was it the thing that i delete the Cities-map, no it can't be, because i use the N95 8gb and it work fine after that.
after work i even have a missed call on that mobile, but i can't call back, it's dead in communication now.
    Strange things happens now.

Is your phone in another language? You should normally see 2 or 3 options.
    1. Dual Mode
    2. UMTS
    3. GSM
Maybe you could try reseting the phone if nothing else works.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    Try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
    *#7370# - Reformat your phone

    Hi,
when I try to update maps on my nokia c5 via maploader mac v1.1 i get the following crash ( see end of message)
I already removed the maploader and associated nokia multimedia transfer app completely (including com-files aso) and reinstalled them -> no improvement
also a hardreset on my phone did not resolve the problem.
Do you guys have an idea what could solve that problem?

Did a Nokia programmer ("ststein") accidentally hardcode his home path into the Mac map loader app?

The reason i'm having this problem now is i just redid my workspace and copied the code and i think some glitch stopped it from compiling correctly all along so now i experience this problem in the applet viewer. Though, even before, i couldn't get anything to display in an applet.
And yes, everything is in the same place as the html file.
    Thanks for your help!

Here's a way to keep track of and paint images with a simple Rectangle array. And also a way to remove lengthy initialization code blocks from paintComponent. Move the images by moving the rectangles.

  • MapLoader 121 - only 1 country at a time?

Since I got a 4gb card I thought I would download more map data for my n95 last night. I selected Belgium, NL, Fr and UK. Whichever way I did it MapLoader didn't seem able to download more than 1 country. Whenever it got to the second it would report an "unexpected error". Is this a known problem with maploader? Is there any way around it?
(BTW, I have to change the download zip file to read-only, then extract the files, delete the apprpriate ones on the memcard nd replace them witht he unzipped ones. Whenever I try to do it the way iot should work it downloads the full map then errors without copying anything to the memcard.)
I could see that MapLoader was tripping up after 1 country by looking at the size of the zip file and swappingf tghe order in which I wanted to download countries.

    Forget it, got the answer

    @nobs
Presumably you have tried both using Maploader upon N9 and Nokia Suite? When new mapping was released 17/12/2012 just followed advice to update existing ones, although do remember it timing out and have to re-start downloading process several times.
As map folder structure upon N9 remains the same as Symbian it would be possible to manually install decompressed .zip for particular region if all else fails. Whilst not aware of any problems with latest 00.02.47.103 map data upon N9, be aware that this update has caused issues for Symbian devices by crippling "Offline" navigation.

  • Map Loader Problem

    Hello everybody.
I installed maps  3.0 beta on my N95.  I used map loader to download new map and voices data yesterday.
Everything worked, I used navigation in my car and maps 3 looks very good.
But today, I wanted to change the voice for navigation to english, so I started up Maploader (I know I know, I can change the language directly on my phone, that's not the problem)
Only the beginning screen of map loader (version 3) is showing - the application does not go further than that screen.
I restarted my phone, restarted my laptop but nothing changes...
Can anyone help me... as i want to install new maps on my n96 too...
    thanks!

you might need to reinstall the software compnents on your computer and try again

  • MapLoader download interrupted N95

Hi I have been trying to use thr Maploader. The map is downloaded to the software but when it tries to transfer to the memory card (either direct usb or via phone) I get a message that the connection/transfer has been lost and to start a new usb connection. The card is a 4gb sandisk and works phine for music and photo transfers. There is no problem with the pc usb ports using Vista
    I'm stumped any ideas?

    Hi jimnyuk
Did you run Maps application on your N95 at least once with memory card in phone, which defines folder structure on microSD required by Maploader to write maps data to?

I have just bought a new C5 because of its maps and navigation features and am having the horrendous problems trying to download additional maps. The only one it comes with is for central/northern europe. I have tried using OVI suite downloaded onto my PC (Vista). That doesn't work. (Could it be that this automatically loads software for the S60 handset?).
On first using OVI Suite you do have to accept any prompts to accept synchronisation software onto device.
Irrespective of whether you can't get OVI Suite or Nokia Maploader to work you can always download Europe.zip using links in this post by ovikovi here and then decompress:
    /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/newest-Nokia-Ovi-Maps-0-1-25-114-manual-download/m-p/778870/highlight/tr...
That said it is a lot easier to overwrite E:\Cities\diskcache folders  0 - 9 and a - f using Windows PC as a bit more convoluted if using Mac although requires use of "Terminal" to merge folders.

  • N95 map problem

    Can anyone please help me?
Whwn I got my N95 the uk maps were pre loaded on the memory card and all was working fine, I was able to get a satalite fix and it would show my location on the map.
I then wanted to download more maps and downlaoded nokia maps from smart2go. Since then i dont seem to have any maps??? I downloaded the nokia map loader to my PC and connected my phone via data transfer mode but it says 'no mass storage device detected' and closes.
Any Ideas and suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks.

I have a similar problem as n95boy above - I had been using maps fine and never had any problems with my N95. Then recently I upgraded the firmware (to 12.0.0.13). When I switched the N95 back on the maps were gone which didn't surprise me much.
So I formatted my memory card to ensure things were cleaned up, then opened Maps (and got a sat lock) to ensure directories etc were set up. Then I tried using Maploader to load maps and it said it loaded them. But when starting Maps on the phone - nothing! I can see the memory card has had a fair bit of data loaded to the hidden directories due to the reduction in available Mb. Tried turning the phone off/on and starting Maps again just in case - the phone gets a GPS lock - but no maps display!
    Any ideas?
