Mapping a wrapped business object

Hi,
I have a business security requirement (in our domain model) which can be described as an Administrator impersonating a normal business user. This allows for key state changes to be performed on behalf of a user (so that they maintain ownership of business entities), whilst the audit trail will correctly show that it was the admin who actually invoked the operation.
The code impact is high if I go down the path of passing both the admin user and impersonated user around everywhere.
I was wondering if it would be possible to do this with a wrapper, that is a proxy for a user. So the key state transitions will occur as if performed by the impersonated user, whilst the audit entries will be generated with the impersonator details.
So if my wrapper class implements the same "User" java interface and has references to both the impersonator and impersonated user...can I modify the mappings to make this all but transparent to my existing code base?
Thanks.
Mike

Hi Anoop,
to put you on the right trail real quickly, without giving any details at present (because I don't know it by heart right now):
On the start of the transaction(s) and on change of the displayed/changed object of the transaction a function like the manager for the generic object services is run through. There you can hook your implementation to publish your own business object, which will then be available in the GOS. With this you can also add your own menu entries there.
The search term you will be looking for is the ABAP OO class: <b>cl_gos_manager</b>
Best regards,
Florin

  • Mapping in interconnect between different Business Objects

    I want to know how to do transformation and mapping between different business objects in interconnects.
    Always,We have a very complex SQL,when We do intergration
    with Oracle interconnect ,We use DB Adapter or Jdbc Adapter,but the complex SQL have to be excuted in the resource DB or the destination DB which may be a big pressure to them ,I think can We use different Business Objects, and do the Mappings in interconnect,so the big pressure will be on the interconnect server just like the ETL tools, But I just find that Interconnect can do tranformation and mapping in one Business Object ,how can I do? Is anyone meet this problem like me ?thanks for discussion.

    For me, Business Objects are logical groupings of business processes. For example, we have a Business Object called "Maintain_Employees". Under this we have 1 Procedure (Create_Employee) and 2 Events (Update_Employee and Delete_Employee).
    We have 1 Oracle system interfacing with 23 other legacy systems. Some of these legacy systems will be using this "Maintain_Employees" Business Object (Common View), and our main transformations will be between the Common View and the legacy Application Views.
    We are using a number of techniques to assist in "validating" data in the InterConnect. The main ones are using 'Cross Reference Tables (XREF)' and 'DatabaseOperation' transformations. By using 'Content Based Routing' we are able to send the right message to the right legacy system, and therefore do the right transformation/validation on the message payload. However, this is only a small part of a complex puzzle.
    I also have the "problem" of having "very complex SQL" on our Oracle system too. This is not unusual when using the InterConnect.
    To my mind, the InterConnect does 2 main operations. Firstly, it performs some message transformation (mapping), and secondly, it acts as a transportation engine (routing) using the adapters.
    The remainder of the effort required to create or consume the message resides with the Applications themselves. Whether it is parsing an XML CLOB payload, inserting data into staging tables, writing to log files, pre-processing data, calling API's or something else, your Application side programming and processing overhead can get large.
    The trade off it to ask the question, do I want to be able to track and manage messages from start to finish in high detail? Or can I trust that all message payload data will be consumed with no additional processing on the Application side?
    My experience has shown that the bottleneck is always at the Application side, and almost never in the InterConnect.
    The short answer to your first question is "You are right. Mappings can take place only between Application Views and Common Views only - not between Business Objects.".
    To answer your second question "Probably everyone reading this forum has this problem. The intelligence that is able to really interpret message data, validate it and process it is only found in the Application, not the InterConnect. You could, however, use the Workflow engine within OAI in order to provide additional pre-validation, human interaction and logic, but this too could be complex."
    At my current client, we are architecting an Application OAI Message handling schema. This will contain staging tables, pre-processing tables, "OAI" wrapper PL/SQL scripts, "APPS" wrapper PL/SQL scripts and Message Logging and Exception tables. Ours will be a complex set of PL/SQL processes too.
    I hope this helps, just in letting you know that you are not alone with this problem.
    I wonder if anyone else would like to share how they have architected their InterConnect and Application side mapping and transformation solutions.

  • Business Objects - Discoverer

    Hi Folks,
    I have a customer with a number of business objects universe
    (V4) at a number of different sites.
    Is there any toolkits and/or white papers which can help to
    grease the transition to Discoverer.
    Many Thanks,

    Hi Barry,
    Look at the Discoverer documentation (in Appendix A I think).
    There was a migration kit that consisted of a PL/SQL packages
    that can map from a Business Objects repository to a Discoverer
    repository.
    The kit was shipped as part of the Discoverer 3.1 release.

  • SSO2DB / Use Business Objects Credential Mapping

    Hi,
    We standardized our universe connections to SQL Server on "Use Single Sign On when refreshing reports at view time". There however is an issue with this when scheduling reports, see
    1199774 - How to schedule Web Intelligence documents based on SSO2DB universes for Oracle and SQL Server to avoid scheduling issues
    Given the solution proposed there is not optimal for us, we are looking at an alternative by standardizing on: "Use Business Objects Credential Mapping" on the universe connection. We want to use OLE DB (SQL Server native connection) for querying.
    There are 2 ways to do this:
    1. On universe connection, in the tab "Database Middleware", we directly select OLE DB. This way we do not need to create a DSN. We however get: A database error occured. The database error text is: Microsoft SQL Native Client : Login failed for user '<user>'.. (WIS 10901)
    Apparently the default authentication mode to SQL server is "native". SQL server specific user. When we create a native SQL server <user> with same password as in the mapped database credentials in the CMC, it works fine. Indicating native SQL server authentication is used instead Integrated Windows authentication.
    Can we somehow change the authentication mode towards SQL server to Win AD?
    Can we get to the SSO2DB functionality in this way?
    2. When selecting ODBC on universe connection in tab"Database Middleware", we can still use OLE DB by creating a DSN based on the SQL Server native drivers. This also allows use to fix the DSN on authentication setting "With Integrated Windows authentication".
    When we run a WebI report from InfoView and select as one of the objects the "system_User", we get the service account running the SIA. This account is also running the WebIntelligenceProcessingServer.
    Does the credential mapping setting not work in this setup?
    We expected the DBUSER/DBPWD to be passed.
    See also SSO2DB / Use Database Credentials
    Quote "Use DB credentials is not kerberos it uses DBuser/DBpass variable for accounts if they are populated. I currently have an escalation in on this with SQL there may be a bug with AD users although SQL users work fine."
    Thx in advance!
    Raf

    Ganesh, using BO credentials will only work if you have BO logins that map to specific users in SAP BW.
    It may be that you wish to section the BW reporting differently to the SAP reporting or that there are specific requirements for a particular reporting area where you can in effect use an "overrule" to replace an individual's log in with one that has a wider set of access privileges for reporting purposes. Quite why you'd let them report on more than they can see in SAP, I don't know, but there you go!
    It's more traditionally used in database-based universes for a variety of reasons, particularly access.

  • Business Object creation error: The service mapping is missing

    Hi developers,
    In my CAF 7.1, I have my business object "maintenanceRequest" with several attributes.
    Persistency is remote. Permission check is disabled.
    Create operation is mapped to the external service (enterprise service) createMaintenanceRequest.
    The input fields are mapped, output fields are not mapped since create operation doesn't have any.
    All the other operations are not mapped.
    I have exposed as web service the operation "create",
    I have generated, built and deployed the app.
    When I try to run it from wsnavigator I get an error in the SOAP response:
    com.sap.caf.rt.exception.CAFCreateException: The service mapping is missing
    Please note that the ES works ok (e.g. from Visual Compose 7.1).
    The ES was imported in NWDS 7.1 from service registry.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks, regards
    Vincenzo

    Hi Sampath, thanks for your helpful reply.
    I followed the steps from saphelp, but I get errors.
    I mapped my external service destination (an R/3-based Enterprise Service published in service registry) to:
    - UDDI_DESTINATION (error: objectNotExist) [but the ES is correctly published in service registry]
    - wsdl address in backend R/3 system (error: Deserializing WSDL stream failed)
    how should the logical destination be configured?
    Thanks a lot

  • Connection with Business Objects Credential Mapping

    Hello,
    We are on BOXI 3.1 SP2. We have a SQL Server 2005 database - which recognizes our Windows AD accounts and allows us access based on that.
    I am trying to create a Universe connection that can use Business Objects Credential Mapping, so that users can use their AD account to access data. However the login always fails.
    Can you please let me know if I am missing any steps here? We normally use SQL server accounts for connection , but we are trying to integrate and use AD security.
    Thanks a lot.

    When you are using BO Credential mapping in universe connection, you have to set the database userid and password in the user settings in CMC. Have you done that ?
    Also make sure that while configuring AD authentication in CMC, you have not selected any option to update users' data source credentials at log on time.

  • Two Business Objects to fill a Data Grid/table using Anchors?

    Hi,
    I have a SAP standard tile were a table (grid) is filled by an Business Object. I want to add an additional column and retrieve the value from another Business Object.
    My questions
    1) Can I use Anchors to automatically set the relationship between two Business Objects A & B, so that I can just Drag & Drop an additional field from Business Object B to the DataGrid of Business Object A in the design screen without writing additional code?
    2) Some BO's do come with a predefined relationship to other BO's, but in the case of I have to write a supply function do I have to use a specific "Data Source Type" such as "Business Object", "BusinessQuery" or "Business CollectioN"?
    3) I already tried to write a supply function, but I realized that the system does return for some BO's or BS's a object instance, if I call "gFactory.newBusinessQuery". Is there any logic/restriction behind?
    I know I can use RowLoaded2 and a unbound column, but I want to know if this approach is also possible?
    Thank you for any help,
    Regards,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
    The answer to your question is YES. You can very well do it without any changes at the code level.
    The scenerio can be implemented using a concept called JointField Mapping in MAS.
    Scenerio 1 :
    If you want to display the extra field from another BO in a list tile on the click of a search button from the search tile , then
    Please do the following :
    1. Select the Busines Query that you have associated to the search tile and go to properties from the View Designer.
    2. In the properties, Click on the Joint Field Mapping and select the BO where the extra field id present and select the primary key, Segment Field associated, (extra field)BO Property that you want to display in the list tile.
    2. Add a new control (new Field) in the List tile - ie, From the Toolbox (Tileset COntrols).
    3.Go to properties of the newly added control. Associate the anchor as the same achor as the list tile was pointing to earlier. for eg : Y_BOCAPGEN.
    4. Then Go to BCOLFieldName property and give the property name as the newly added BO property name(New field).
    After everything is modelled, You will be able to see the extra field in your application!!!!
    NOTE : Ofcourse, After the Successful generation.
    Scenerio 2 :
    If you want to display an Extra Field in a Detail tile,
    1. Go to Relationship of the BO from the Detail tile and go to properties.
    2. In the properties, You can find the Joint Field Mapping porperty.
    3. This property is again modelled as explained in scenerio 1.
    Hope, It would have definetly helped and answered your query.
    Have a good day!!
    Best Regards,
    Vignesh Ravikumar.

  • Changing the Data source in Business Objects XI

    Hi,
      Is it possible to change the data source(not universe) in runtime to generate business objects reports. I am using BOXI 3.1.
    Below is the code I am using to change the universe in runtime. I would like to change this so that i can change the data source instead of changing the universe. My intention is to generate report from multipple database using same universe. Right now I am using multipple universes connected to multiple datasources to achieve this. I am using Report Engine SDK(Java).
               if("Webi".equals(mDocKind))
                   // Added for multiple database support
                   DataProviders dataProvs = documentInstance.getDataProviders();
                try{
                    //To support multiple queries in BO reports
                 for(int count=0;count<dataProvs.getCount(); count++){
                   DataProvider dp=dataProvs.getItem(count);
                   DataSource ds= dp.getDataSource();
                   infoUniverseObjects = getUniverseObject(infoStore,NewUniverseName);
                   infoUniverseObject = (IInfoObject)infoUniverseObjects.get(0);
                   String newDsCuid = infoUniverseObject.getCUID();
                   dataProvs.changeDataSource(ds.getID(), "UnivCUID=" + newDsCuid, true);
                   if(dataProvs.mustFillChangeDataSourceMapping())
                        // Re-map data source to target Universe objects
                        ChangeDataSourceMapping mapping = dataProvs.getChangeDataSourceMapping();
                        ChangeDataSourceObjectMapping[] maps = mapping.getAllMappings();
                        dataProvs.setChangeDataSourceMapping();
                    }//for dataProvs.getCount()
                }catch(Exception e)
                      mLogger.info("BOReportObject","createReport","Inside multiple data providers loop"+e.getMessage());
    Thanks in advance

    Edited by: Shameertaj on May 20, 2009 3:08 AM

    Hi Shameer,
    I think this is only possible with the Universe Designer SDK (which is only available in COM).
    Please kindly refer to the API reference for the Universe Designer SDK for more details:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/bodessdk.chm
    Also, please note that changing the universe connection when viewing a document on-demand is not recommended because this could lead to possible issues.
    For example:
    Two users trying to view documents that uses the same universe at approximately the same time.
    But user A wants to use connection X and user B wants to use connection Y.
    This could lead to an error while openning the document or while refreshing/retrieving the the data.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Dan

  • Query related to Siebel Data Bean - Business Object - Account - Update

    Hello,
    I am using Siebel Databean to update Business object - Account fields. I am using the field names displayed in browser to update the Account properties.
    But sometimes it fails with below error:-
    For e.g. Field 'Account Team' -
    Field 'AccountTeam' does not exist in definition for business component 'Account'.
    Please ask your systems administrator to check your application configuration.(SBL-DAT-00398)
    Where I can find the information related to mapping of fields in business object 'Account' which I can use in Siebel Data bean program?
    Thanks in advance !!

    Hi!
    You need to use Siebel Tools to determine the Business Component Field Mappings to the Applet Controls that you're looking at.

  • Unable to import Business Object in DQE

    I've some prob with "importing business Objects" in SAP Enterprise Portal
    I've EP6.0 SP16 installed.
    While importing the Business Object from "BW" System
    I expand the BW Node but alas! dont get any BO in it..
    It shows a message "Loading...." and hangs..
    I've read some of the discussion Forum on SDN...
    I've given the DQE Admin UserID and Password correctly.
    Also I've done the User Mapping for BW System and gave the same UserID and Password as given in DQE in the "Personalize" section
    I've tested the "BW" Connection using the option "Connection Test".
    It gives "DQE Connection Succeeded'.
    Please let me know where i'm wrong..
    Thanks..

    First thing dear Actually you are using the wrong term it is not exactly import it is EXPORT the existing BC4J component in Jdev.
    Just run the export command it will automatically create the package in the Home directory.
    Create a new JWS and Project and add related PG or Region there.[[Which you have exported]]
    Thanks

    I am working in sap b1. i want to use business object for my client.
    how to use and code in that if any one give ans very appreciate.
    how use excel in that.
    how to connect database with map and how to use selectors.
    how to use chart and connect with database
    Regards
    RajkumarGupta

    Hi Ravi,
    you can download all documents related to bo from help.sap.com. in that select business objects tab-> select all products -> from drop down list box select businessobjects-> based on requirement i.e. which version you want you can get all docs.
    If I understand correctly I think you want to create a report form excel. If that is the case then download Desktop Intelligence docs w.r.to our version and start practicing it.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Join collections of business object

    Hi all,
    I have a project which involves join of business objects... Which means, I ALREADY got collections of business objects from the DB.(e.g. a list of customers and a list of Orders).
    Now I want to join them at the object level, like an SQL statement on object level... Which will returns a list of object contains the information I want after join
    Note that the point is NOT to involve any DB. I have did a bit re-search. HQL from Hibernate is not what I want since that still involves Database. something like JDO is also not what I want...
    Are there any similar projects that you guys know about? Or can you suggest me which direction I can go to solve the problem?
    Many thanks.
    H

    Which means, I ALREADY got collections of business objects from the DB.(e.g. a list of customers and a list of Orders). During the process a list of orders will be built for each customer.
    A solution is based on the construction of a map from customers list (key:customerID -> value:customer object). To do this customer class must implement equals and hashCode. Does customer class has implemented these, or are you allowed to implemet these in the class ? Then you iterate over the orders and using customerID from order objects you put them in the coresponding customer list.
    If you can't, you must take another solution where you sort the customers and orders lists, both by customers ids (here you must create some comparators, but they do not depend on the existing system as in previous solution). Then you iterate through both lists simultaneously and put the order objects in corresponding customer lists (this is some sort of merge algorithm).

    Hi all,
    I have a business object whose key field and attirbutes are mapped to a database table.
    Now when I instantiate the object with the key field and the key field is a wrong entry then I want my object to throw ane error saying the "Key Field entry is invlaid or no datas exist for the following Key Field entry".
    How shall i go for it.
    Dev

    Hello
    Have a look at the business object USER. It contains a "method" USER.ExistenceCheck that is realized by BAPI_USER_EXISTENCE_CHECK.
    Take this as an example of how you should go on with your business object.
    Please note that business objects and their methods have <b>nothing </b>to to with object-orientated programming.

  • Business Objects Enterprise SDK application.

    Hi All,
    I am planning to develop a custom web application using BOE 3.1 java SDK's.
    I would like to create only application level users, these users would be mapped with a single BO user account to create enterprise session.
    That means, My application "A" will have say 10 users (i.e. 10 userid and passwords). All these users will their different sets of userid's and passwords (custom application users), they can login into the application using application level credentials,  however to login into the enterprise the application will internally use only one BO user credential (i.e. only one named user acount info.)
    eg:
    user1-login -> application>logins using BO userX userid and password>BO Enterprise session created
    user2-login -> application>logins using BO userX userid and password>BO Enterprise session created
    user3-login -> application>logins using BO userX userid and password>BO Enterprise session created
    and so on.
    The idea is to purchase only one named user licence and create many application level users to login into BOE; but using the same BO user account.
    Is this approach legal in-terms of licensing?
    Would appreciate any help on this.
    Regards,
    Jon

    Hello Adam,
    Thank you very much.
    Please see the following post:
    Business Objects Enterprise 3.1 Licensing
    Tim says:
    names means you can have five users created, any amount logged on concurently (i.e the administrator could have 10 sessions, usera 20 etc no limit) But you can only create 5 different users names
    that means 1 Named user eg: 'A'  can login into the enterprise using his credentials and create any amount of enterprise sessions concurrently for self right??
    Each named user is for a specific user and not to be shared. If you were using concurrent user licensing, than this would be ok to use one enterprise user account.
    5 Concurrent linceses means one user account created in enterprise but, account info can be shared with 5 users, so they can login using same credentials and create five different enterprise sessions?? right?
    so, I can purchase one- 5 concurrent user license and share it with 5 users? OR purchase 5 named user licences and share it with 5 users?
    Either ways my understanding is number of users=number or linceses available (named or concurrent). please correct me if I am wrong.
    Now, which one is cost effective named user lincenses or concurrent?
    Awaiting your response.
    Regards,
    Jon

  • CRM Business Object BUS1006005 Not Showing In LSMW Object List

    LSMW-BAPI
    Step-by-Step Guide for using BAPI in LSMW
    Note! The screen prints in this article are from ECC 5.0. They may differ slightly in other versions.
    Introduction:
    This document details the usage of BAPI in LSMW. We have used the example of migration of the purchase order data into SAP.
    Pre-requisites:
    It is assumed that the reader of this article has the minimum knowledge required on the Business Object, BAPI, Message Types and IDoc Types.
    Step-by-Step Procedure:
    Details of the BAPI used in this scenario:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
    Details of Message Type and Basic IDoc Type:
    Message Type: PORDCR
    Basic IDoc Type: PORDCR02
    Let’s have a look at the BAPI first, before proceeding to the LSMW:
    1. Go to Transaction BAPI
    2. Click on Search Button
    3. Enter the value “BUS2012” and select “Obj.type(Technical Object Name”
    4. Press ENTER
    5. Following screen appears:
    6. On the left side of the screen, Expand the “PurchaseOrder”.
    7. Select “PurchaseOrder” and double-click on the same for details.
    Building LSMW using BAPI:
    1. Go to Transaction LSMW.
    2. Enter the Project, Subproject and Object information and click on CREATE.
    3. Enter the descriptions for Project, Subproject and Object.
    4. Now select Settings à IDoc Inbound Processing
    5. “IDoc Inbound Processing” screen appears. Enter the required details as shown below:
    6. Click on “Activate IDoc Inbound Processing”.
    7. Click on “Yes” when prompted for “Activate IDoc Inbound?”
    8. Hit on “Back” to return to the main screen.
    9. Click on Continue (F8). Following Screen appears:
    10. Select the Step 1 “Maintain Object Attributes” and select “Execute”.
    11. Select the radio button “Business Object Method” and enter the following details:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
    Hit ENTER
    12. Save and click on BACK button. Following information message is displayed.
    13. Now select step 2 “Maintain Source Structures” and click “Execute”.
    14. In this step, we need to maintain the source structure. In our example, lets consider the example of a file with 2 structures Head and Item data as shown below:
    Click on Create and name the source structure as HEADERDATA. Now select HEADERDATA and click on “Create” again to create the child structure. Following popup appears:
    Select “Lower Level” and click on Continue. Enter the Item data structure name.
    Click Save and hit BACK button to go to the main screen.
    15. Select step 3 “Maintain Source Fields” and hit execute.
    16. Enter the fields as shown below:
    17. Click SAVE and return to main screen.
    18. Select step 4 “Maintain Structure Relations” and click Execute.
    Select E1PORDCR and click on CREATE RelationShip. Following screen appears:
    Select HEADERDATA and hit ENTER
    Similarly do the same for the structure E1BPEKKOA, E1BPEKPOC and E1BPPEKET.
    Click Save and return to main screen.
    19. Select the step “Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules” and click on execute. Maintain the Field Mapping as seen below:
    20. Select step 7 “Maintain Source Files” and provide the link for the test file created. (Create a test file with the same structure as defined earlier).
    Save and return to main screen.
