Mapping attributes not under nodes

Hi
If I create an attribute in the component controller wihtout a node, then can it be mapped to a view?
On trying to do so it gives an error.

You cant map those attributes to a view from the component controller. You can only map node and its attributes

I found this on webgain's web site (http://www.webgain.com/download/toplink/patches/toplink_301.html). This is exactly what I am talking about. Can somebody help with this? I have a case where I actually make a change to a mapped value, but the unmapped values are lost.

Non-mapped attributes not merged in UnitOfWork. Previously, the UnitOfWork would merge non-persistent attributes on commit.
With the introduction of ChangeSets in 3.0, if changes were made to only non-mapped attributes, then this was considered no change - no merge would take place and no PostMerge event would be thrown. This has been changed back to the TopLink 2.5.1 behaviour - non-mapped attributes will now be merged, and will trigger PostMerge events.

I first off want to clarify that TopLink does not manage un-mapped attributes in any way. The change-set calculation and merge from the working copy into the shared cache copy only applies to mapped attributes.
If you would like to have un-mapped attributes carried through your UnitOfWork interactions you will need to implement a DescriptorEventListener and register it with the descriptor's event manager (typically in an after-load method).
The patch mentioned was for the handling of these events. If you have implemented such a listener and are not seeing the correct method calls then we have an issue. In this case let us know what version of TopLink you are using and what the specific scenario where you are not getting the behavior you expect.

In Weblogic (5.1.0), how do you map one URL "directory" to a filesystem
directory that is not a subdirectory of the regular document root
directory?
This is, I want some URL "http://xxx.com/some/subset" to map to local
directory "/x/y" instead of mapping to a subdirectory "some/subset"
under the document root directory (the directory to which
"http://xxx.com/" maps).
How do you do this in Weblogic (using Weblogic as the HTTP server,
not using it plugged in to some other HTTP server)?
(In Apache, this would be the "Alias" directive.)

Difference between value attribute and value attribute under Node in contex

I have very basic question..it might be very simple but it is giving me a problem.
I have created one Node name "Input" and value attribute "Input1" under it.
I have just created one more value attribute named "in1" not under any Node.
I have created two input filed in the my view.One first I have mapped the value in properties
to variables "Input.Input1" and on another "in1".
When I deploy and run the application one Input box is coming as readonly and other is working fine .Will anybody tell me why it is so?

There is no major difference between value attribute and inside a node.
It is a separation of attributes. Usually all the attributes belongs to same purpose will create in one value node. Like, calling one BAPI - requestListBAPI - it contains all the bapi related value attributes.
For your question, one field is read only(Input.Input1), bcz that context is not created. see the context properties.....cardinality will be 0..n. Change the cardinality to 1...n (<b>or</b>) create that context element .
In your implementation create that value node like this in your init method.
wdContext.createInputElement();
It will solve your problem.
in1 - is a value attribute, which is mapped to your input element. It wont have any problem.

Can someone shed some wisdom on how I can compare 2 xml nodes for differences.
My main challenge is I need to use the attributes/values of 'ProductDescription' and 'Features' as 'key' to identify the same node in
another doc with the same layout, but different content.
I am having trouble getting the name of the attribute on the node, 'ProductDescription' and 'Features'. I can only seem to get the node names, but not the attributes on the node. I need the name, because it can be different from doc to doc, so
I can't hardcode this.
Can someone please help with how to retrieve an attribute name/value on a node that is not a child. Here's an example of what
my xml looks like:

I need to compare the attributes of 'ProductDescription' and 'Features' from @mydoc1 against @mydoc2 to see if they are the same based on those 2 nodes first. If they are, then i want to show the difference in the child elements.
This will eventually be an outer join to give me the differences betw the 2 docs based on those key values (node attributes).
I used node('//*') for the path, and value('local-name(../.)', 'varchar(50)') as element
,value('.[not(@xsi:nil = "true")]','VARCHAR(255)') AS new_value
...etc...
but that only gives me the node names, and the child elements. It does not give me back the attribute names and values from the node itself.

Mapping Issue(if schema node is not present)

I have the following map as follows:
If the node Student_City is not present in the source schema(Student) then the map is not working .
How can I get the right output if a node is not present in the source schema and we want to proceed that schema ?

i think you missed mapping the layout with the context attributes....check out the property of all the elements in the view, if not mapped map it by selecting the attribute from the node.

Context Mapping for Non-Singleton Node

I have following context structure
Node_A
|     attr 1
|________ Node_B
                              attr2
                              attr3
Node_B is the child of Node_A. NOde_B has attributes attr2 and attr3.
Node_B is a Non SIngleton Node.
Node_B is mapped to Node_View of the View Controller.
Node_A had 2 elements. Initially Element 1 is the Lead selection Element for Node A. I get the reference for Node_B using the Lead Selection Path
NodeA_element1 = Node_A->GET_ELEMENT( ).
Node_B = NodeA_element1->GET_CHILD_NODE( 'NODE_B' ).
Node_B is filled with elements, lets say attr2 = 'Dallas', attr3 = 'Detroit'
Node_View shows the values Dallas and Detrait since its mapped to Node_B
Now the Lead selection of Node_A changes to 2.
I again gett he reference for NOde_B usign the Lead Selection Path (index 2)
NodeA_element2 = Node_A->GET_ELEMENT( ).
Node_B = NodeA_element2->GET_CHILD_NODE( 'NODE_B' ).
Node_B is now filled with, lets say attr2 = 'Mexico', attr3 = 'Canada'
Since element 2 is Lead selection for Node A, now, and NodeB is mapped to Node_View, I expect the contents of Node_View to be attr2 = 'Mexico', attr3 = 'Canada' since this is along the Lead Selection of Node_A
But it stays attr2 = 'Dallas', attr3 = 'Detroit'
So in a nut shell, the Context Mapping of the Non Singleton Node DOES NOT map the Lead selection Path when its parent , changes in Lead Selection.
Is this a BUG ?

There is no bug. See when you are saying

I am just not sure how you have filled the data in node B. Because the way u populate node data that way only you can get the data. The way you want to get data you must populate data in this way:
1. Get Node A instance let say in lv_node_A.
2. Get Node A element instance (lead selection) in your case lets say in lv_elem_A.
3. Now get node B instance by lv_elem_A->get_child_node( 'B' ) lets say in lv_node_B.
4. Create element of lv_node_B and bind it to the node B and also populate the value of attributes.
Repeat the steps as per your requirement. Also Singleton and Non singleton has nothing to do with this it is all about how the instances will be manged in the memory.
Look at this sample code and will help you while populating data in nested nodes:
    DATA lo_nd_a TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
    DATA lo_el_a TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
    DATA lo_nd_b TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
    DATA lo_el_b TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.

How to include the not assigned nodes in Hierarchy structure

Hi Experts,
I am running a report which has got Hierarchy variable type. After execution of the query some of the nodes appear always under "not assigned".
Please let me know is it possible to include these not assigned node under hierarchy structure.If so how to do that?

Hi Subbiah.
You can also supress the "not assigned" nodes in the hierarchy maintanence by choosing: Hierarchy attributes -> Supress unassigned nodes.

Mapping Attribute Dim in Essbase

I think this is bit funky requirement part of my enhancement project.V 11.1.2.1
i have an essbase cube with a hierarchy called Product where the level 0 is PartNumber. I have an attribute dimension call ProdType which is coming from a different mapping table and different source with PC(Product Code) which is level 1 in my hierarchy and my requirement is to map that attribute to one level down with corresponding PartNumber.

----PC(Level 1)
---PN(Level 0)
---PN1(Level 0)
File1 Extract gives me the full product hierarchy so i am building the hierarchy using Build Rule where as second file(File2) i am getting has only PC(level1) of product hierarchy with attribute column ProdType. BUt my requirement is to map the attribute value to all the PartNumber under that ProductCode as Attribute can not be mapped to upper level members. Is their a way in essbase to puss the attribute mapping to level0 where as the file has level1 mapping.
Note: we do not want to make any change from DWH side so trying to achieve this in Hyperion
any thought or way to achieve this?

Got some idea and that is working for me if i am mapping manually , there is something call Association where we can map the Attribute dimension member to any level of base dimension. I am still working on how to map the association using Dimension Build Rule. i can see the Field properties to map as UDA,formula etc but don't see Association in that window.
any suggestion will be helpful.

Attributes not reflected in report

Dear Expert,
we need city coordinate attributes in Sold-to-party wise report. So we enhance the LOCCO(City Coordinate) field from R/3 0CUSTOMER_ATTR datasource.
After replicated the datasource then mapped to City Coordinates(0ME_CITY_CO) in 0CUSTOMER_ATTR transfermation.loaded the data and cube it shows data.
One report only this attributes comes under Sold to Party.Other reports not refelect.
the query designer City Coordinates attributes comes under Sold To Party. but the report this attribute not refelecting under Sold to party.
Please suggest me.

Hello,
If you want this attribute to be reflected in all the reports in which the 0CUSTOMER is present, you need to make it as a navigational attribute and also select the attribute as navigation attribute in all the DataTragets (ODS, CUBE, Multiprovider, Infoset) on whicn the reports are based.
This will solve your problem.

Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to
“X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
2. Delete all the files in this folder.
3. On test PC, delete local cache files.

4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.

We don't use Oracle DB roles to grant users access to Forms from the menu. We use a template and role system of our own. Basically a few tables with templates and roles.
We want to convert our normal Forms menu to a tree menu and one of our key requirements is that when the tree is populated ONLY nodes with programs (i.e. forms) he has been granted to execute is shown.
Since we don't use Oracle Roles how to do this in a tree?
I created a function to show/hide LEAF nodes, BUT problem is that there are sub-menu nodes showing even if the leaf-nodes under it has not being displayed. My function has suppressed it.
My tree query is like this:
SELECT
     t.status, LEVEL, t.label, t.icon, t.node VALUE
FROM
     tma_tree_menu t
WHERE
tma_authenticate_sys_chk_role(USER, t.node) = 1
CONNECT BY
     PRIOR t.node = t.master
START WITH

The tma_authenticate_sys_chk_role will return 1 only if the user has access to the form under that node.
I tried the FTree functions in Forms but even that has nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ThanksGet the father of "Grade" elements as an element. Then get all elements named "Grade", and for each one set attribute "Maximum" with value "6". If you read api documentation you will know which methods to use.
But for helping you in getting the "Grade" parent.
1) get the root element of the Dom Doc
2)get the father of the "Grade" father: getElementsBytagName("his name") -> it will return a Node List get the first element casting as Element if there's only one, or elese if not case
3)the same method in 2 get the "Grade" father
4)getElementByTagName("Grade") over the "Grade" father -> for each "grade" element on nodelist do whatever you need

Note that for this to work (and not throw an error) every screen node needs a tasks attribute.
In your sample code, the first screen node did not have a tasks attribute, in which case an error is thrown when using @tasks == "3"
