Mapping of XML attributes with XML elements in Mediator Transformations

Hi,
The soure XML look like as below in the source directory of file adapter/read:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<!-- Edited by Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.3®
-->
<CATALOG>
<PLANT COMMON="Bloodroot" BOTANICAL="Sanguinaria canadensis">
<ZONE>4</ZONE>
<LIGHT>Mostly Shady</LIGHT>
<PRICE>$2.44</PRICE>
<AVAILABILITY>031599</AVAILABILITY>
</PLANT>
<PLANT COMMON="Columbine" BOTANICAL="Aquilegia canadensis">
<ZONE>3</ZONE>
<LIGHT>Mostly Shady</LIGHT>
<PRICE>$9.37</PRICE>
<AVAILABILITY>030699</AVAILABILITY>
</PLANT>
<PLANT COMMON="Marsh Marigold" BOTANICAL="Caltha palustris">
<ZONE>4</ZONE>
<LIGHT>Mostly Sunny</LIGHT>
<PRICE>$6.81</PRICE>
<AVAILABILITY>051799</AVAILABILITY>
</PLANT>
</CATALOG>
The target XML will be as below in the target directory of file adapter/write.:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<!-- Edited by Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.3®
-->
<CATALOG>
<PLANT>
<COMMON>Bloodroot</COMMON>
<BOTANICAL>Sanguinaria canadensis</BOTANICAL>
</PLANT>
<PLANT>
<COMMON>Columbine</COMMON>
<BOTANICAL>Aquilegia canadensis</BOTANICAL>
</PLANT>
<PLANT><COMMON>Marsh Marigold</COMMON>
<BOTANICAL>Caltha palustris</BOTANICAL>
</PLANT>
</CATALOG>
So, I need to map attributes(COMMON and BOTANICAL) of XML data in the source with common and botanical elements of the XML in the target. How should I map attributes with elements in the XSL editor of the Mediator Transformation.
Thanks,
Arnab

I will test it.

  • Loading XML file with missing elements dynamically through ODI

    Hi Guys ,
    I have the below xml file with two nodes Employee and Address. On a daily basis , sometimes the address element might not come in from the source xml file , but my interface has columns mapped to address elements, and hence it can fail due to the source element not being found in the file or data might not get loaded due to the 'and' condition in the sql query generated between the employee and address elements.  Is there a way where i can load the data dynamically where i can search in the file only for the elements (Employee) present and load data only for those elements dynamically?
    XML File:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

    Thanx.

    Interested question; one I do not know the answer to at the moment, I am afraid. I would like to know your results.
    To tell others, though, what I have done. I did finally adapt Muench's not-yet-published examples #71 to work with a table. Here the table has as it's value "#{backing_app_EPG_DAYPG.jobDayDriverTable[row.Id1]}"
    This accesses a hash map defined in the backing bean as follows:
    public Map jobDayDriverTable = new HashMap(){
    @Override
    public Object get(Object key) {
    Number jobDayId = (Number)key;
    if (getEpgDayPage().jobDayDrivers(jobDayId) != null) {
    return getEpgDayPage().jobDayDrivers(jobDayId).getAllRowsInRange();
    else return null;
    jobDayDrivers returns RowIterator. From this I call getAllRowsInRange which returns a Row[]. The table consumes this as a value, and lists the values as I want.
    Since the table is using Rows for its rows, I am guessing that it would have access to #{row.rowKeyStr}, or at least #{row.<pk>} which would allow you to programmatically set the current row using code like the following:
    public static boolean setCurrentRow() {
    // BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding =
    // bindings.getOperationBinding("setCurrentRowWithKey");
    (OperationBinding)EL.get("#{bindings.setCurrentRowWithKey}");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return false;
    return true;
    You could call this as part of code in a pages backing bean behind a button or link.
    Hope this helps somebody.
    By the way example #71 was to get a detail set of rows from a master row value and display the detail set in the master row of an af:table.
    You can find this and other examples at http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html

  • Transforming xml file with different elements into HTML

    hi all !
    i have an xml object that has been generated from database using java. the xml file has numerous elements that have been merged into single file. all elements have been got from different table :-
    <?xml version = '1.0' ?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW id= "1">
    <EMPID>1</EMPID>
    <EMPADDRESS>H 3 STREET 4</EMPADDRESS>
    <EMPPHONE>98764653</EMPPHONE>
    </ROW>
    <ROW id="2">
    <EMPID>5</EMPID>
    <EMPQUAL>GRADE 12</EMPQUAL>
    <EMPGRADE>A</EMPGRADE>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    (its just a sample data, might not be wel formed)
    as it shows that each element "ROW" has data corresponding to different employee and with different details. actually these elemnt are the updates in an employee profile that have to be communicated to a distant located database. what i need is a tranformation into HTML so that the recieving user can view this file as html with relative headings of corresponding tables.
    (the schema at both ends is exact replica)
    any help in this regards would be obliging.

    thank you bro!
    the xml file has been created by importing multiple files resulted from XSU into a master file in java. we are running a web based project in a distributed environment. so i would need to make this page appear in a web browser with ACCEPT and REJECT command buttons as the receiver is the approving agent. what all i have thought of so far is to create a style sheet with templates of all heading of each table from where the data is coming from and then run a check on what table the data is from and place that specific heading on the entry. the style sheet would be placed at both ends so only the xml file will be transported and transformation would be done auto.
    i hope it works. but am not sure wether its the right approach or not.

  • How to add XML attribute to an Element using BPEL assign

    I have a request xml to a bpel process that does not contain a attribute.
    After some process I need to create this missing attribute and set a value.
    I tried using the XML fragment in the Assign Activity. But how can I create a attribute?
    This XML node to which I am trying to create an attribute is a very huge node with lot of dynamic typing(xsi:type). I can just re-create the complete xml with required nodes.
    Does any one know how I can create a xml attribute using the BPEL assign? I do not want to use the Java code in my process.
    Thanks.

    I'm bit confused about what exact problem you are facing with attributes.
    You can check accessing XML attributes in BPEL Assign @ http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12483_01/integrate.1013/b28981/manipdoc.htm#BABIHDHI from the page http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12483_01/integrate.1013/b28981/manipdoc.htm.
    I suppose your source input has no attributes and destination has to be an xml with attribute of type xsi:type. You can use the assign activity as mentioned in above document to assign your type structure to type attribute.

  • XML attribute 'with' reserved?

    While working on a XMPP implementation I'm noticing the attribute 'with' keeps throwing errors when trying to access it to set or get the data from it. Is that a reserved word or something? Sort of makes this difficult considering 'with' is used heavily in the spec..
    var xml:XML = <rootNode>
              <item with="test" without="rest">cool</item>
    </rootNode>;
    trace(xml.item.@without); // no problem
    //trace(xml.item.@with); // uncomment and you'll get error "Syntax error: expecting identifier before with."

    It can be how you access it when considering reserved words. Try trace(xml.item.attribute("with")); or trace(xml.item.@["with"]);

  • Still problems serializing xml-docs with xml-parser for java v2.0.2.7

    Hi !
    I'm using the Oracle XML Parser 2.0.2.7.0 and get some problems when serializing the XMLDocument.
    In one class (DOMOut) I parse a xml-file with the oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser, then obtain the XMLDocument and write it to System.out
    In another class (DOMIn) I fetch the XMLDocument from System.in, search for a given Element and print it's TextValue (if existing) to System.out
    That is where the error occurs.
    I get the XMLDocument from System.in but the returning NodeList from doc.getElementsByTagName() is empty. [nl.getLength()==0] even if it shouldn't be.
    Look at this code and output:
    [DOMOut]
    DOMParser parser = new DOMParser();
    parser.parse(url);
    XMLDocument doc = (XMLDocument)parser.getDocument();
    ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(System.out);
    out.writeObject(doc); out.flush();
    [DOMIn]
    ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(System.in);
    XMLDocument doc = (XMLDocument)in.readObject();
    doc.print(System.out);
    NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName("Name");
    System.out.println("Length of NodeList: "+nl.getLength());
    if (nl.getLength()==0)
    System.out.println(argv[0] + ": not in this document!");
    else {
    XMLNode node = (XMLNode) nl.item(nl.getLength()-1);
    System.out.println(node.getNodeName() + ": " + (node.getFirstChild()).getNodeValue());
    This is the relevant code.
    I javac both classes and then do this:
    java DOMOut xmltestfile.xml > xx
    java DOMIn Name < xx
    And get this as output:
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <!DOCTYPE course [
    <!ELEMENT course (Name,Dept,Instructor,Student)>
    <!ELEMENT Name ((#PCDATA)*)*>
    <!ELEMENT Dept ((#PCDATA)*)*>
    <!ELEMENT Instructor (Name)>
    <!ELEMENT Student (Name)*>
    ]>
    <course>
    <Name>Calculus</Name>
    <Dept>Math</Dept>
    <Instructor>
    <Name>Jim Green</Name>
    </Instructor>
    <Student>
    <Name>Jack</Name>
    <Name>Mary</Name>
    <Name>Paul</Name>
    </Student>
    </course>
    Length of NodeList: 0
    Name: not in this document!
    Has anyone an idea?
    If I do all this stuff without serializing it works.
    If I do not search for argv[0], but the string "Name" it fails.
    If I do search for "*" it works fine!
    I'm very confused could anybody please help me a bit??
    Stefan.

  • Target XML attribute with XSLT

    > XSLT, so any suggestions would be surely fine.. another question: do you
    > think it's better to work with XSLT or XmlRules?
    there is no short answer on this. it depends on your documents/data you
    want to process, what to achieve and you're knowledge in scripting vs.
    xslt. i use xmlRules for styling my documents, xslt for data transformation.
    in general you've got more control, especially over the rendered
    document, using xmlRules. if you want to process layout rules/guidelines
    in dependency of the actual document you have to render it first.
    complex data transformation and composition is better with xslt outside
    of indesign. i prefer to prepare my data (select relevant data,
    numbering, ...) with xslt.
    cheers,
    gregor

  • How to access XML attributes with JSTL

    Hello,
    I'm using the XML functions of JSTL. I'm trying to parse the following RSS feed.
    http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?p=USNY0996
    I can get it parsed and access the elements via JSTL, but is it possible to access the attributes of some of the elements?
    For example, how can I get the city attribute out of
    <yweather:location city="New York" region="NY" country="US" />

  • Target XML Files with optional elements

    Hi All,
    I am using ODI 10.1.3.4. My task is to create an XML file of the following format:
    <parent count="2">
    <child>
    <name>Fred</name>
    <age>15</age>
    <email>[email protected]</email>
    </child>
    <child>
    <name>Bob</name>
    <age>5</age>
    *<email />*
    </child>
    </parent>
    I have been able to successfully create a target file. But the file does NOT contain the empty elements. ie the email element for Bob is missing from my target file.
    Is there any way to configure the XML connection or the "create xmlfile" command to output the empty element?
    Many Thanks
    Nat

    After speaking to BEA support it appears as though there is a partial solution to this issue. If you add the attributes minOccurs="0" nillable="true" to the elements then the SOAP message is correct. i.e.
    <xs:complexType name="SIDSearchCriteriaStructure">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:choice>
    <xs:element ref="SIDUniqueReference" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <xs:element ref="SIDOtherCriteria" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    </xs:choice>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    I say that this is only a partial fix because elements cannot have minOccurs and nillable attribtes when they are references (as opposed to named elements - e.g. <xs:element name="SIDDNA" type="RestrictedStringType"/>). This is according to XMLSpy anyway. Don't know whether it's W3C legal though.
