I've a doubt in Data dictionary. can we modify the length of the field in data base tables using stanadrd table.
My requirement is add customer data to business are field. but the lengh of business area field is 4 chars.and the customer field length is 10.So in sap note i've found a solution is there a table call replacement of business area(FLQGSBER_SUBST).in this first we've append the customer field to this table.then the structure of business area should be modified.
can we modify the length of the standard table field?
its an urjent issue

But there is solution i've found in SAP note is 'There is a standard table for business area called "FLQGSBER_SUBST" Replacement of business area.In this table we've to append the field.for ex here we've append the customer (kunnr) and
the field business area field has no data. when we append the customer field then the data in customer field updated in business area field.when i've tried this
and when execute this.in debugging the businee area updated with 4 chars only.
it didnt take 10 chars(kunnr).
is it possible...

consider you are having two input fields bound to attr1 and attr2.
now after pressing the save button:
just read teh two attributes to field1, field2 using code wizard. then
<db name>-<fieldname1> = <field1>.
<db name>-<fieldname2> = <field2>.
insert <dbname>.

the steps to follow -
download JDeveloper 10.1.2 from OTN (9.0.4 is very old and has some features that won't be in the next releases).
Then follow the ADF Workshop from the JDeveloper home page on OTN.
(If you have to use 9.0.4 then look for the archives of JDeveloper on OTN)

In any database table we will be having MANDT field. In the program while populating the table we never populate the field MANDT. But still in the database table, it automatically takes the current clinet number.
Could any body tell me where can we validate this. I have a requirement in my program, in which I need to populate one of the field with one constant value.

the client is the special field for all the master tables...
for validating the field you need to do like this..

I see that my record is deleted when I display the records from my internal table, but
now I want to delete the record from database table.
   For that I want to move the content of the modified internal table in the database table. You can see the methods I tried (some of them commented), but nothing seems to work.
Any advice ?

GB01 is the database table.
GB01-BOOLCLASS = 009
GB01-CLASSTYPE = S
GB01-BCLTAB = BSEG.
GB01-BCLFIELD = GSBER.
Upon input of above details, will get table Record as
BOOLCLASS    9
CLASSTYPE    S
BCLTAB       BSEG
BCLFIELD     GSBER
BEXCLUDE     X
In the record, the field GB01-BEXCLUDE has the value X in it. It should be replaced by value =.
Changes should be made ONLY for this record. Other Records should not be touched.
How can we do this. Help me in doing this.

Hi Ramya,
Follow these steps :
1. Goto the table GB01 -> Display its contents.
2. Double click the record which you want to edit.
3. Type /h (where you type transaction code) to go to debugging mode for that record.(Press enter twice to goto debugging mode)
4. Click on Field CODE and give it value EDIT and then click on the PENCIL icon besides it.
5. Now click on SAVE.
6. Switch off the Debugging mode now.
7. Now you can see your selected record in EDITABLE mode.
8. Do the EDIT part and SAVE.

Field value is getting double while updating the database table

A simple doubt :
there is a standard program through which a zfunction module is getting triggered, through this zfunction module i am updating the database table.
Now what happening is one of the field(KCQTY) value in database is getting double at a time when i am executing the Program with same variant only.
I have also done the CLEAR & REFRESH internal tables starting of the Function module.
Can you please help me out.

I created a JDBC connection with the Oracle database (HR schema) using JDeveloper(10.1.3) and then I created an offline database (HR schema)
in JDeveloper from the existing database tables (HR schema). Then I made some updates to the JOBS database table using SQL*Plus.
Then I returned to the JDeveloper tool and refreshed the HR connection. But I found no any changes made to the offline database table JOBS in
JDeveloper.

Once you create an offline table, it's just a copy of a table definition as of the point in time you brought it in from the database. Refreshing the connection, as you describe it, just refreshes the database browser, and not any offline objects. If you want to syncrhnonize the offline table, right-click the offline table and choose "Generate or Reconcile Objects" to reconcile the object to the database. I just tried this in 10.1.3.3 (not the latest 10.1.3, I know), and it works properly.

Hi,
I am not aware any standard tool but you can write custom report to use FM DDIF_FIELDINFO_GET to get fields information of SAP database table.
Call the above FM twice in order to get field names for two different database tables. Then compare the results (table parameter DFIES_TAB) to find out the differences of field names.
