Mapviewer Installation

Hi,
I'm currently using Oracle9iAs and have dowonloaded Mapviewer 10g(9.0.4).
Is this the right version to be used with Oracle9i?
If so, how do find the oc4j instance in 'Oracle Enterprise Console' as it is mentioned in the user guide of installing mapviewer?
Thnx in Advance

You seem to have confused the two deployment types that mapviewer supports. Basically, you can deploy MapViewer (which is just .ear file) to a full installation of Oracle Application Server (which includes an infrasturcture database, web cache, and Portal or Wireless etc etc). This installation requires that you know the admin password for the Enterprise management website, where you can find an oc4j instance and deploy mapviewer to it using the web-based interface. This type of deployment is for production use of MapViewer and other Application Server functions, and will require certain degree of knowledge of Oracle App Server. For this install type you never see or need the actual oc4j.jar file.
The second install type can be used if you just want to try mapviewer to visualize some spatial data. All you need is a standalone version of OC4J (Oracle container for J2EE), which is about 40MB in totoal size and you can download it from OTN. Once you have the standalone OC4J installed, you will see the oc4j.jar file which is needed to start it. You will then follow the MapViewer User's Guide and deploy the mapviewer.ear file to this standalone OC4J (through command line or by editing oc4j config files).
Or, you can simply download the 10.1.2 MapViewer Quick Start Kit (about 40MB in size), which is a standalone OC4J with MapvIewer alrady deployed and configured, and is very easy to get started.

    Hi,
    Settings need to be checked-
    1. Connectors must be identical for all components for a particular system and test connection should be successful.
    2. Unicode should be checked for RAR connector.
    3. Patch Level should be same on GRC and Backend and all backend post-installation activites must be completed  - (BC set activation, Program etc)
    4. RAR Objects Import must be done.
    5. ERM Background jobs must be completed before doing Role Creation- Transaction/Object/Field sync, Org Value sync and activity sync.
    If above activities are done, no issues should occur in tcode/Object assignment in role.

    Hello Hamish,
    This usually happens because of permission problems or incorrect drive mapping. Please make sure that the user, who starts the installations has all permissions over all directories, subdirectories and files of the installation directories. You should be able to invoke /opt/java1.4/bin/java -version in every subdirectory of the installation. Please make sure that you have permissions to execute java as well.
    Best Regards

  • Using MapViewer to view a georaster: blue display

    Hi,
    I uploaded a tiff file into a georaster table. I followed all the steps to georeference the raster, generate the spatial extent, create the pyramids, etc.
    Then I executed the steps to make my raster ready for viewing:
    - Insert a row into the USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA
    - Create a spatial index on the spatial extent of the GeoRaster table
    Once I use 'MapViewer' all I see is a blue screen. I'm using the 'georaster.jsp' that come up with 'MapViewer' installation to view my raster. Any ideas of what could be wrong ?
    Any help is appreciated

    Is the Mapviewer java clase documented anywhere?
    TIA

    It is described in the mapviewer user's guide (accessible from OTN mapviewer site or the iAS 9.0.4/10.1.2 documentation library).
    Detailed JavaDoc references of this API can be accessed off the main (Welcome) page of a typical MapViewer installation, including the quick start kit.

  • Mapviewer 12c Generates Error When Displaying a Pre-Defined Vector Layer

    I have a predefined vector layer which I want to display using Mapviewer 12c. However, when I try to display the vector layer, I get an Java Null Pointer error. If I run the exact same code using a Mapviewer 11g (v11.1.1.7.3) environment, the map displays correctly with no errors.
    Is anyone experiencing similar problems with Mapviewer 12c?
    My environment consists of the following:
    1) Server OS: Linux x86_64 (RedHat Enterprise 5.11)
    2) Oracle Weblogic Server 12c
    3) I Manually Deployed an Exploded MapViewer EAR Folder in WebLogic Server

    Accessing this URL immediately resulted in the expected response text string:
    Ver12.1.3_B140430.1010
    4) I can successfully access the Weblogic Admin Console (http://[host]:[port]/console) and confirm the Weblogic is running, and that Mapviewer has been successfully deployed and running as well. I can also access the Mapviewer Admin Console (http://[host]:[port]/mapviewer)
    5) Mapviewer 12c has been configured to use the latest Java 7 JDK (i.e. Java 7 Update 75).

    I installed the Latest OracleMaps HTML5 (V2) API Update - March 2015 (http://download.oracle.com/otn/other/mapviewer/11g_ps6_3/oraclemapsv2_11_1_1_7_3_1.zip) and the issue seems to have been resolved with this update.
    I deployed the 11.1.1.7.3.1 update against my v12.1.3 mapviewer installation (as per the instructions in the readme file), and the prefined vector layer now displays correctly using Mapviewer 12c.

  • Mapviewer SVG and Content-Type http header

    Hello,
    We have a Mapviewer installation that seems to be serving up the wrong Content-Type header for the SVG charts. The map is being created correctly and we can get GIF's and such.
    The wrong Content-Type causes the Adobe SVG viewer to never render the SVG map successfully. When I save the SVG file to the desktop it opens perfectly or if I statically link it in to the web page from the sever it also opens perfectly. Is there some configuration that is missing somewhere on the mapviewer or the application server to correctly set the Content-Type ?
    Notice the content type of the failing map compared to a working SVG chart we have.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the reply I've tried both SVG_URL and SVGZ_URL and used a http header sniffer to watch what's getting served up and the urls associated with MapViewer SVG are definitely getting served up with that wrong Content-Type.
    Our front end is an Oracle APEX environment were we use APEX's SVG charting on the same page and they are getting served up with the correct Content-Type and display correctly, which is nice cause I can watch the header difference's side by side, and we know the mapping itself is working right because we can get image files back
    Is there a sever config file or something like the httpd.conf for apache that needs to be set?
    Thanks for any help or insight

  • Mapviewer pure Java tool?

    Hello all,
    As a general question:
    I've read that,
    "Since MapViewer is a pure Java tool, it can run on any platform where Java is available."
    Does this mean I could run mapviewer on Tomcat instead of OC4J?

    Great question. Although it's technically possible to run MapViewer on a non-Oracle J2EE container (others have certainly done this), MapViewer is licensed with Oracle Application Server. Hence, even in a Tomcat environment, you would be legally obligated to purchase licenses of Oracle Application Server to run MapViewer in production. That said, as far as support streams go, Oracle can really only support MapViewer installations and configurations on supported platforms. So, if you have installation/configuration issues while running on a non-Oracle platform, you would most likely have to find your own answers from chat boards and forums. Hope this helps.

  • Map Viewer Errors Thrown

    This is a followup on the post "JAVA Error Messages Thrown When Deploying Map Viewer," from Jun 12, 2008 11:22 AM. (reprinted below)
    Basically there are a number of java errors thrown when attempting to install Mapviewer. Has anyone else come across similar error messages? What do they mean? I can't imagine this hasn't happened before.
    Also, if anyone might have a clue or a direction to point me in concerning this matter, that would really be greatly appreciated. I really need assistance here, as I really have no clue what is going on, and I haven't managed to find anything on the Web concerning these specific error messages.
    Thank you,

    The following is the previous post I am referring to:
    Hello,
    Thank you for taking the time to assist with this problem.
    I am fairly new to java, and so I have little understanding of what certain error messages mean after I deploy Map Viewer through oc4j.
    I have poked around on the Web enough to have a feeling that the application is searching for certain necessary classes, and that it can't fully deploy without these classes. If this is true, where are these classes located and/or how do I point to them so that the application can find them?
    There are one group of errors thrown when attempting to deploy Map Viewer, and then another set when attempting to create a "dynamic data source" from the Map Viewer admin page.

    Also, when the second series of error messages are thrown, a red error message displays on the admin html page, which reads, "MapViewer server is still starting up." It doesn't matter how long I wait, it never does start up, and of course the error messages tell something is wrong.
    Do I need to modify a file somewhere to tell Map Viewer where to look for these classes?
    By the way I am running on a Sun server with Solaris 9
    Thank you much,

    For future reference,
    The problem was finally solved. Someone suggested to me to make sure I was running jdk 1.5.0 by typing "java -version" It turns out I thought I was running 1.5.0, but in actuality I was running 1.4.2.
    The reason this was confusing was because I was pointing to the newer version when exporting the JAVA_HOME env. variable, by typing "export JAVA_HOME=[full path to jdk folder].
    But the trick was to append the full paths for jdk/bin and jdk/jre/bin to the front of the PATH variable. At first I appened the paths to the end of the PATH variable, and nothing happened.
    Basically, the mapviewer installation needs to look at the bin folders for the 1.5.0 version of the jdk.
    You can always test this by typing "java -version." If your PATH variable is correct, then you'll see information on the most recent jdk installation instead of an older version.

  • Problem with the MVMapView.print(printMapDiv,) function.

    Hello,
    I have a problem with the MVMapView.print(printMapDiv,) function.
    My FOIs are displayed correct on the screen but on the printed letter
    the stroke(border) color and the labels of a circle are not displayed.
    the fois have a custom style:
    var xmlDef = '<svg width="1in" height="1in">'+
    '<g class="marker" '+
    'style="width:40;height:40;stroke:0xff0000;fill:0x00ff00;stroke-width:1.5">'+
    '<circle r="20"/>'+
    '</g>'+
    '</svg>';
    markerStyle = new MVXMLStyle("my_vector_icon_" + i + '_' + j, xmlDef)
    and are created like this:
    v_result = new MVFOI(p_geofeature.foiId, p_geofeature.foiGeomertyObject, markerStyle, null, 30, 30);
    v_result.setHTMLElement('1',0,0);
    Browser: I can see the map with a green circle, a red border and '1' as a label on
    top of the Circle.
    Printed Letter: I see the map with the green circle but no red border Color and no label.
    The implmentation of the printing function uses the same techique like the "Oracle Maps Tutorial"
    It is a javascript function called through a href link:
    function mapPrint()
    var a=document.getElementById("printmap");
    global_gdi.mapviewer.mapview.print(a);
    Version is Ver11_1_1_5_B110527
    Does anbody know how to print the map properly including the contents of the
    MVFOI class set trough setHTMLElement function?
    Greetings
    Andre

    Thanks for your reply but it is not working and i can prove that.
    I have a small example based on the mapviewer print tutorial. To run it you need a
    mapviewer installation and copy the text into a html file. In the browser you can see
    a green point with a red border and red label text on a map.
    If you use the print button everything except the label text will be printed.
    I think this is a mapviewer css-api bug.

    mapview = new MVMapView(document.getElementById(&quot;map&quot;), baseURL);
    mapview.addMapTileLayer(new MVMapTileLayer(&quot;mvdemo.demo_map&quot;));
    mapview.setCenter(MVSdoGeometry.createPoint(-122.45, 37.6706,8307));
    mapview.setZoomLevel(4);
    mapview.display();
    //adds custom foi with label
    var xmlDef = '<svg width=&quot;1in&quot; height=&quot;1in&quot;>'+

    var markerStyle = new MVXMLStyle(&quot;my_vector_icon_&quot;, xmlDef);
    mpoint = MVSdoGeometry.createPoint(-122.30, 37.73,8307);
    var v_result = new MVFOI(&quot;11&quot;, mpoint, markerStyle, null, 60, 60);
    v_result.setHTMLElement('test label',0,0);
    mapview.addFOI(v_result);

  • New Orcacle Maps Demos to see ?

    Hello,
    there is a MapViewer installation on http://elocation.oracle.com/mapviewer/
    of the new preview release and It would be very nice if we could see the Oracle Maps incl. the complete demos with full themes.
    The geocoding demo on http://elocation.oracle.com/geocoder/
    works very well.
    Many thanks,

    And also, arent you able to show how manipulate the satellite view in order to see the fronts of buildings?
    You mean street view, not satellite view.
    You bring up street view by placing a pin at location you wish to view (use the Drop Pin option or pull up an address which places a pin.
    Tap the pin.
    If you see an Orange person icon in the info for the pin, it means Google has street view info so tap the orange person and you are taken to street view.

  • Oracle Maps - how to run html i created?

    I run all Oracle Map tutorial examples and now i want to modify html and make those pages show different maps. I changed for example showMap.html and pointed to oraclemaps.js, but when I directly run html i got errors. I assume that I need to somehow deploy this html on mapviewer or to oc4j but I don't know how. Can anybody help me please?
    Thnx, Aleksandra

    The code samples for Oracle Maps are in your MapViewer installation (you can see the entire samples).
    OC4J_HOME\applications\mapviewer\web\fsmc\tutorial\samples
    If you just run the OMaps sample from the demo page it is located at:
    applications\mapviewer\web\fsmc\omaps.jsp
    and your local system browser address is this:
    http://localhost:8888/mapviewer/fsmc/omaps.jsp
    The Maps and Faces example is in the same directory:
    http://localhost:8888/mapviewer/faces/fsmc/oraclemaps.jspx
    This should give you an idea as to where your jsp can sit, and how to call it.

  • JAVA Error Messages Thrown When Deploying Map Viewer

    Hello,
    Thank you for taking the time to assist with this problem.
    There are one group of errors thrown when attempting to deploy Map Viewer, and then another set when attempting to create a "dynamic data source" from the Map Viewer admin page.

    question moved to db->spatial

  • Using mapviewer with database installation only ?

    using mapviewer with database installation only ?
    i have installed oracle database 11g on windows
    the enterprise manager already relies on the ocj4 ('http://orcl:1158/em')
    if i open 'http://orcl:1158' i get the start page for the appllication server - by clicking on 'manage applications' i come to the enterprise manager start page (i thinked, i can uplaod some ear application file, sinve oc4j is present for the em)
    its possible to install the mapviewer.ear with this database installation only (since the oc4j is present for the em) - or i have to install the oc4j too?
    thx
