Master-detail form (my detail is in a new canevas-- new window)

Hello,
I have a Master-detail form, in my detail when i select a row i want to show an other canevas that becomes a detail for this selected row. i constructed the relationship between my first detail block and my new canevas that contains the detail for the selected row. When I select a row Oracle didn't show me the deatil for this row in the other canevas, i wondered me why? because I thought the relationship between them should atomatically drive the data for the other canevas. If i 'm wong, does someone could tell me what to do to call my canevas detail.
Master--->details(selected row become master)--->new canevas(contains details)
the relationship is done between my first detail block and my new details block.

Hi,
POST-QUERY is definitly the wrong trigger to do what you want to achieve.
1. The usage of GO_BLOCK in POST-QUERY is not allowed and it will not work.
2. The detail must be synchronized when navigating in the master-record, not when populating the block
So the right trigger to do what you want to is the ON-POPULATE-DETAILS-Trigger.
Problem on this: It will only work if you have a relation on the master-block to the detail block.
But that's also possible even if you do not have a "direct" relation between the master and the detail block.
Just create a relation between the blocks based on some dummy-item and then go to the item in the detail-block and set its property "Copy value from" to NULL.
Now you can add your logic in the ON-POPULATE-DETAILS-Trigger.
Still one problem left: Where is the window you're going to show placed? If it's on to of the window where the items from the master-block are displayed, then immediately after querying the records in the detail-block the navigation back to the master-block will cause the other window to be shown again (and therefore your detail-window to be hidden again).

Master Detail Wizard: Cannot Redirect Detail Form to Detail Form 2

Dear all,
I created a Master Detail Report Forms using wizard where Master Report has a link to its Detail1 form, which has a link to its Detail2. However, the page redirection didn't work from Detail1 to Detail2 whereas Master to Detail1 worked.
I checked the region button in Detail 1 that did the redirection, I didn't find anything wrong (I think).
Suppose Detail1 is page 210 and Detail2 is page 220, The following is my configuration:
- Under "Action When Button Clicked" tab:
1. Action is set to "Redirect to Page in this Application"
2. Page is set to 220
3. Request is left blank
4. Clear Cache is set to 220
5. Set These Items is set to
P220_TICKET_ID6. With These Values is set to
&P210_TICKET_ID.7 Database action is set to
- No Database Action -Is there any other place that I should check that might effect the redirection? Please advice.

The answer to this problem appears to be that there is a bug in HTMLDB 2.0 (at least thats what I'm thinking) in that it is not handling dates correctly when passing them to the detail form. Once I modified the date column in the detail form, and formatted it with TO_DATE, it all worked fine. I would think the wizzard would do this. Oh well...

Master detail form Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001

Hi,
i created a master-detail form with apex standrad wizard.
Master e datail are on the same page.
All works fine.
My detail form contain some fields of my detail table.
Now i added a link on detail form for call a form with all fields of my detail table.
The link work fine.
When i try to add row or update my detail form i receive the error
Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "D472A2BF636CA11122F196B8A32B3DC8", item checksum

Lukx,
I've just reproduced your what I believe you wanted and didn't receive any errors. Here are the steps I took.
1) Used the wizards to create a Master Detail form (with Detail edit on the same page as the master and only showing 2 of the detail columns)
2) Used the wizard to create a FORM ON A TABLE for my detail table allowing the user to edit all detail columns
3) Created a "column link" column on the detail form of the Master Detail form which links to the FORM ON A TABLE, passing across the ID of the detail record.
When I do this, everything seems to work perfectly as expected.
Is there something I'm missing in the steps you performed to create your scenario?

I need help on the following.I have master detail form .In detail form i have Add Row button which adds a new row and i have save button to save the record .But now if i am adding a row its not adding a new row .It says it process but didn't show the new row .

How many records do you show in your detaii region and how many are there for that master? Maybe the new row is in the next set of records - or at the 'bottom' of the last set of records?
Did you check if the row is inserted in the database (and just didn't show up for one reason or another)?

HELP: Error while insert in master-detail form!!!

I have created a master-detail form and when I tried to insert a new record I got an error that the field on the detail table that references the primary key on the master table can not be null. I don't understand this error because I thought that when you create a master-detail form and you insert a new record the field that make the references in the detail table to the primary key on the master table will be automatically filled, am I wrong??. Can anybody tell me what is going on??. The primary key of my master table is filled with a trigger before insert, is that the problem??.

I am still new to this, but maybe this will help.
1. Double check that your foreign key link definition in the detail table is referencing the correct column in the master table. If this is not present or referencing the column, this may be causing the problem. Self evident, but sometimes it is the simple things that get us.
2. I have not used a trigger yet, but could there be validation being done in the form before the trigger is firing. Therefore, there would not be a value in the detail part of the form.

Updating columns in master/detail form

Changes were made to the database that is in the master part of a master/detail form. I have tried to add the new fields using "Create Item" on the page definition.
I have gone through the wizard and set the source items to:
Source Used: Always
Source Type: Database Column
Session State: per session
Source Value: AppsDependentOn (the name of the newly added field)
It seems that the form will not display the new column - it does display the label and a blank textfield. I have no problem adding columns to the detail part of the form.

Master-Detail Form - only the first detail record is saved in database

I have created APEX master-detail form with detail tabular form on the same page.
I tried to enter data to the several detail rows (using Add Row button) and then press Apply Changes button.
Unfortunately, only the first detail row is being inserted into the database.
What could be the reason?

Apex Master Detail Form error

I have created a master detail form. Detail table's primary key consists of 3 columns. When i am updating anything it gives the following error :

Prakash,
The built-in master-detail forms in APEX currently only support primary keys with one or two columns. Also, neither one of you primary columns can be part of a foreign key. We're considering extending this in APEX 4.0. Until then, you will have to write your own update routines as a page process on the master-detail page.

Unable to View records in a master-detail form

In a master-detail form, I am not able to view records of the master/detail table
by accepting the values of the PK of the header table items.
Please tell me the exact steps, so that I can view the detail table records based on the header table PK items.

Yes I wrote the LOV code in a different procedure. Now, the view is showing correctly. But I am now trying to update the viewed records.
The steps I am following in View Option is as below:

clear_block(no_validate);
execute_query;
proc_lov;

I am unable to commit the changes made in the blocks
The reason it is showing is : UNABLE TO update.....I saw the display_error.
The system is trying to update the PK part also..Why....Though PK party is clearly defined in the table as well as property palette. Pl. explain how to go about it. Uregent help is required once again.

To attach a RTF template(Report for printing ) in the master detail form

I have an application in which I have 3 master detail forms of which one of the form is a gate pass form . Now this gate pass form has a report region as the detail.
All that i need help is to print the Gate Pass with few fields as information in the gate pass form , where an image or picture of the visitor is also a filed .
Now I have created an RTF Template which is the Gate pass layout with the pic.
So ultimately I have the application for the gate pass form and the RTF template ready with me .. Fixing this template with the application with a BUTTON called PRINT is the challenge am facing !

Pars I need another Help
I am working with a master detail form where in the form region i have a Radio group . Lets say the Radio group is
o Returnable
o Non Returnable
o Other
so when i select Non returnable I want a particular column called
Line Status to get Disabled .
I have done that by a dynamic action - using jquery statement (.Disable) .
Defining the element attributes as Disable .
Now the problem is that ,, Line status is getting disabled on the selection of Non returnable radio button. but unless and until i dont press the Add row button it does not work ,, else i will have to switch over between the radio buttons to get this action done !!

Adding button to report to link to master detail form

I want to add a button to a report to direct me to a blank master detail form to insert a new record. I have used the following code in the additional PL/SQL code section:

I create a MD form in Portal 3.0.9.8.0 just fine. However I cannot insert the master and the detail at the same time because I get the following error:
Error: An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("PORTAL30"."OFFICECODE"."AGY_ID") (WWV-16016)
If I create the Master record 1st, then add the detail records it works fine. But how do I insert the Master and the detail records at the same time?

I had the same problem and with the help of some other folks in the forum I came up with this. It goes on the save button, plsql event handler. You'll see the 'doSave' call at the end of the procedure. It checks the value of the Master Action List and if it is 'INSERT' then sequence.nextval will be selected into v_master_id and then inserted into the table. Let me know if you have any questions. It probably needs a little clean up and some functionality for delete but so far I haven't had any problems with it.

Search on Master Detail form/report

Hi,
I noticed that when I created a new application in Apex 4.01 basing the intial page on a Master Detail form/report, I was able to add a search item to the initial page. When I go to add another page with a different Master detail form/report, I did not have any option for adding a search item to the report page. Seems like an oversight?
I would appreciate any hints as to how to add same search item to my 2nd Master/Detail form/report.

Parameter on Master Detail Form

How do I set a bind variable in a Master Detail Form?

I suspect that he may have the same question I do. Namely, if I have four tables (employees, projects, tasks, and project_assignments) how do I create a master detail form where I can specify the project and the employee via LOVs? The project_assignments table contains foreign keys for employee, project, and task, as well as additional fields relating to the task status.
Currently, I have it set up so that the employee name can be selected and the project is hard coded to the current project.
Is there an easy way to populate the detail records based on two LOVs in the master form?

Requerying on Master Detail form

Hi,
Does anyone know how to set up PL/SQL code to automatically requery on a master detail form after insert/update? For example, if I insert a record on the master part of the form, I would like that record to automatically show up after the insert/update. Also, if I insert a record on the detail part of the form, I would like that record to automatically show up after an insert/update.

Thank you very much for the code. The code for the most part acts like I want it to except when I initally insert a master record. In my case, I have the form set up so you have to insert a master record before you can insert any detail records. Therefore, after the user clicks save, that master record needs to come up. The code you gave me only brings up the current master record if you are inserting detail records (which is great, that is what I want it to do). I have modified the code you gave me so when a user is just inserting the master record, the master record automaticaly comes up rather than the first record in the table. However my code makes the form run slow (about 13 seconds to save). Do you know of another way that I can make the form act like I want it to. Below is my code.
