Master Details FK is NULL

Hi All,
I am new to Apex, any my first application, was to create a master detail form.
I used the wizard. However, when inserting a new record in the detail form (where there is already a saved master record), it fails with the error:
ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("SC1"."CDP"."CC_CC_ID")
I am not sure where to fix this problem. Is it in the cc_cc_id on the details page, or is it in the process of creating / submitting ?
Appreciate your help.
:d

It's possible you need a trigger on your table to populate the primary key from a sequence - it's hard to tell with no details of your data model.
Perhaps replicate an example at apex.oracle.com, as it may be the foreign key for your child table is not populating properly - depending again on how you've constructed your pages.
We need more information.

  • Null item (pk) in master detail form

    Hello
    I use two tables to create a master detail form, in the master table I use a PK based on an existing trigger on the db and that same field is used in the detail table as an FK.
    When I create a new master detail form I want to insert all the items I need, but after I hit create button to insert the values into the master table, the pk item keeps a null value, so I would not be able to insert nothing in the details table.
    How can I resolve this?
    Thanks in advance
    Ownr

    Have a look at the update / insert process on submit. There is a place to determine where to return the primary key. Put your primary key item there
    P1_PRIMARY_KEY
    and the record will stay there after creation.

  • APEX 4.0.2 Error on Master Detail Pages - 'length' is null or not an object

    Greetings,
    We just upgraded to APEX 4.0.2.00.07 this past weekend. Now a JavaScript error occurs when Master Detail pages are opened in IE 8. The error is - 'length' is null or not an object. I do not have a page item named length on any of these pages.
    The error does not occur in Chrome or Firefox, but the Add button on the detail portion of the page simply doesn't work.
    The page works when creating the master portion of the page. After the master row is created the region to add detail rows appears and the error occurs. So, the error appears to be with that part of the page.
    We use an Inactive Date column to soft delete rows in the detail portion of the page, so the detail regions have a date column, just in case this column is the problem.
    Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?
    Thanks, Tony

    I too had this same problem and determined that the problem was due to a missing underscore character between the literal "report" and the report Id in the report template.
    I guess some themes include this underscore and some don't.
    I had to debug the apex_4.0.js to determine this - not easy as it's not nicely formatted.
    It only seems to stop Pagination working in an Updatable Tabular Form Report.
    Edit the Report Template. Go to the "Before Rows" region and edit the Before Rows text box. Locate where it defines the report id and insert an underscore between report#REGION_ID#
    Previous
    <div id="report#REGION_ID#">

  • Master-detail null problem

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with what I expected to be a simple master-detail form.
    I have a table of RELEASES based on a text RELEASE_ID pk. There are WORK_PACKAGES, to identify the chunks of work agreed with the customer - change requests, bug fixes etc. To identify when they are released, I have a link table RELEASE_COMPONENTS which is RELEASE_ID + WORK_PACK as a pk.
    I used the wizard - master table RELEASES, detail RELEASE_COMPONENTS and it queries fine, but if I try to create a new detail record, RELEASE_ID is not being populated and I get the message
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("DEL"."RELEASE_COMPONENTS"."RELEASE_ID"), insert into "DEL"."RELEASE_COMPONENTS" ( "RELEASE_ID", "WORK_PACK", "RECONCILED") values ( :b1, :b2, :b3)
    I just can't see anywhere in the processes where this should be set or can be set - help!
    Thanks
    Malcolm

    Don't know if I get points for answering my own question?
    Apex seems happier when all the tables have a sequential PK.
    In my original design, I went for my usual Oracle design of having mnemonic varchar2 keys, so for instance a customer called Joe Bloogs would have a key of BLOGGSJ or similar. The reaon being that in Forms, we always gave the users a choice of keying in the code directly rather than having to use an LOV. For full-time users on a large database, this creates quite a saving.
    APEX seems less happy with this sort of set-up. It did mean that in my small reference tables, I had to duplicate the PK so it was visible and start coding conditions so it could be entered but not amended, and the final straw was this master-detail not liking the composite key on the detail table from the two referenced tables. I added a sequence to this, and it just works.
    So - it's back to the drawing board and redesign everything from square one!
    Luckily, this is just an internal app to prove feasibility of replacing some of the systems with APEX applications.

  • Questions on Master-Detail HTMLDB HOW-TO

    Hi all
    I have created a 3 page application based on the master detail how-to given at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/index.html
    Instead of DEPT and EMP tables I have PERSON and PERSON_ADDR tables. The PK of PERSON is the person_id and the PK of PERSON_ADDR is the person_id and addr_start_dt. Person_id column in PERSON_ADDR is obviously the FK to the master table PERSON(person_id).
    At first I had problems trying to create the pages themselves because the wizard always hides the person_id column on all the forms(and I don't want that,even though it is a sequence number I still want people to see it) , it being the PK, then somehow I managed it to display the person_id by replacing the EDIT link with the person_id itself. Now if a person already has an address and I click on EDIT then it copies the person_id values and others to the next page and all looks good but when I try to create a new address it does it ?? (It should take across the person_id as well)
    My PERSON report is on page 1, when I click edit against a person it takes me to page 2 where I can see+change all the person details plus I can see the person_addr details. When I click edit against a person address it takes me to page 3 and I can edit all the address details nicely copied to the new page but when I click CREATE on the page 2, then all the fields appear as NULL on page 3( all the fields but the person_id should be null here). How can I fix this ?
    Also, for my person address I would like to validate the address dates , there should be no overlapping start and end dates for a person's address. How to do this ? I think I will need to create a function to which I pass the person id and the new start and end dates and this function returns error message,if any, or null. I had a play around with validation and I think I need to use "function returning error text", what should I put in the "validate expression 1" box then...just something like
    begin
    my_function(param_1,param_2)
    end;
    If yes, then what variables would store the new start date and new end date of an address.
    Lastly, for every table do I have to user a sequence number or a trigger to define a primary key, what if the primary key is just a character code and I want the users to add it ?
    Thanks a lot in advance !!

    thanks Marc.
    Yes you are right, I used the 1.5 viewlet. I will try the master-detail wizard now.
    With the primary key problems, for things to work nicely in HTMLDB, do you suggest each and every tables should have a sequence number generated primary key ? We have some tables for various statuses like ACTIVE,CLOSED where these codes themselves are the primary keys, so you suggest making these codes unique keys but still have a sequence number PK ? Also when I want the users to enter the primary key themselves I will let them enter new ones but not update existing ones, so data entegrity is maintained.
    I was able to work out how to create validations using "functions returning error text" but my problem is I need to be able to compare what the user has just updated/entered with the data that already exists in the table. I have a table called person_Address having columns like person_id, start_dt,end_dt and various other fields. The primary key is person_id and start_dt and I need to put a validation which avoids any overlapping addresses. Overlap as in there can be only 1 active address for a given start and end date range. Does HTMLDB has something like :new.start_dt the way we can write database triggers ? Please suggest a way to do this.
    Lastly, how does HTMLDB handles error messages raised by table triggers. Can they be shown along with the item on the page as we can with the other HTMLDB validations ? I have many tables with all sorts of triggers and if any validation fails I generally do...raise_application_error(-20001,get_my_message(234));
    get_my_message function returns the message text for message number 234 . Will this message be displayed somewhere or not ? Do I have to duplicate my validations , once in the triggers and then in HTMLDB as well ?

  • Master-Detail Detail does not refresh after it's been empty

    I have a master detail page (both are tables) that works just fine, until I click a master record that has no details.
    After that the panelHeader of teh detail is refreshed with the PPT but the table underneath it is not, I keep seeing "no rows yet", no matter which master record I click.
    When I go to a different page and return it's fine again.
    Only one of my pages has this behavior, I tested this on another and it was fine. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
    My console has this message:
    May 11, 2007 10:52:38 AM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.model.binding.FacesCtrlRangeBinding$FacesModel getSelectedRow
    WARNING: rowIterator is null

    Ok I found it,
    My details iterator had the following properties:
    <iterator id="AfdelingMedewerkersIterator" RangeSize="-1"
    Binds="AfdelingMedewerkers"
    DataControl="PRBAppModuleDataControl"
    Refresh="IfNeeded" RefreshCondition="#{!adfFacesContext.postback}" />
    I have no idea why I set it like that, but removing the Refresh properties fixed my problem.
    I am still clueless as of why this led to the behavior as described above. I could have understood it if my iterator was not refreshed at all, but I have no idea why it stopped working only after the details were empty and not a second before...
    Anyway, problem solved!

  • Requerying on Master Detail form

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to set up PL/SQL code to automatically requery on a master detail form after insert/update? For example, if I insert a record on the master part of the form, I would like that record to automatically show up after the insert/update. Also, if I insert a record on the detail part of the form, I would like that record to automatically show up after an insert/update.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Krishnamurthy,
    Thank you very much for the code. The code for the most part acts like I want it to except when I initally insert a master record. In my case, I have the form set up so you have to insert a master record before you can insert any detail records. Therefore, after the user clicks save, that master record needs to come up. The code you gave me only brings up the current master record if you are inserting detail records (which is great, that is what I want it to do). I have modified the code you gave me so when a user is just inserting the master record, the master record automaticaly comes up rather than the first record in the table. However my code makes the form run slow (about 13 seconds to save). Do you know of another way that I can make the form act like I want it to. Below is my code.
    Thanks again,

  • Master-details problem: How to access the parent EO/VO in child side?

    Hello
    Refer to the reply of posting
    Re: How to insert  new records in Master and detail Forms.
    I have got the following questions
    The approach for setting the master-details relationship works well, however, in this example,
    I have overriden the create(AttributeList attributeList) method of VO2, so after calling
    DCBindingContainer dcb = ADFUtils.getDCBindingContainer();
    OperationBinding oper = dcb.getOperationBinding("CreateInsertVO2");
    oper.execute();
    , it will enter the create() method of VO2, at this point, i can only access the argument attributeList
    which stored the key value that link up parent and child, however, how can i get the entire VO1
    for accessing the value of all VO1's attribute?
    Thanks

    In conclusion, I don't understand why the accessor returns null. Maybe someone else can shed some light... ?:|
    One last suggestion from me is to try getting the VO1 directly from the AM instead.
    This should work - it is not a recommended practice through.
    Use the following code:
    VO1RowImpl vo1 = (VO1RowImpl)this.getVO1();
    // ensure that the VO1 VL accessor is properly initialized
    if (vo1 == null) {
       vo1 = (VO1RowImpl)((YourApplicationModuleImpl)this.getApplicationModule()).getVO1().getCurrentRow();

  • Problem with apply changes on master-detail with respect to date handling

    dear sir,
    i have one tabler where in i have created from_Date and to_date as varchar2(30) each. I stored the from date as 'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi' I had written before header process for calculating no of days between from_Date and to_Date using the said format. If to_Date is null then first i store the value as
    to_char(sysdate,'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi') and then convert it as to_Date(substr(to_Date,1,17),'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi'). this calculation of days procedures works fine in sql command mode.
    when i am handling through master-detail page i works fine when there is null value inf to_Date vc2 column. if i store using date picker dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi, the data is getting stored but subsequent edit through master detail give error as ora-01722 unable to fetch row. Manually if i set the to_Date as null pages works fine. I spent lots of time and unable to understand the mistake i do.
    if anybody could help me, i will be much obliged.

    I think the detailDisclosure state needs to be saved and retrieved from the session.
    I'm not sure using a table with singleSelection inside a detail disclosure is supported. Are you doing master-detail inside of detail disclosure? Detail disclosure is not really meant for that. In jdev 10g preview we make hooking up a master-detail easy. Here's a link to some doc about it.

  • How to create Table in a Table without a ViewLink for Master/Detail

    Hi,
    Can we create a Table within Table in OA Page without using a view link. Need a Master Detail records to be displayed but I can't use a ViewLink. Is it possible to
    have a Table within Table without using a ViewLink. As I have DetailVO with multiple bind variables. I tried ViewLink but it didn't work so wondering if can achieve this
    using table in table without ViewLink
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I created a Table then in the table I created a detail in which I created another table I created a transient view attribute i.e. DetailFlag that I set to my outer table. When I run the page it does show me the Master records and showhide link but when I click on the show it throws an error saying:
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25002: Definition  of type Attribute not found
    Even though all the items in Detail table are attached to VO attributes of DetailVO
    As I have a different MasterVO query with some bind variables and the DetailsVO query is different with some bind variables. Now how do I capture when a user clicks on Show and at that time wants to get some values from a selected master row and pass them to my DetailVO Query so the detail data for that selected master row shows. How do I get handle to the selected Row Data so to get the some values that need to be passed to the DetailVO.
    I tried following the guide but am not able to have it functioning.
    Here is what I have in my controller's processRequest method
         OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
         System.out.println("******* 1");
         am.invokeMethod("initializeTables");
         OATableBean table =
          (OATableBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("OuterTable");
        if (table == null)
          MessageToken[] tokens = { new MessageToken("OBJECT_NAME", "OuterTable") };
          throw new OAException("AK", "FWK_TBX_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND", tokens);
        table.queryData(pageContext, true);
        System.out.println("******* 2");Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Master detail new line error

    Hi all, Can anyone help me with this problem?
    I have created a master detail table but have had problems with adding new detail lines.
    The detail region contains an advanced table with an addTableRow bean set in the footer. I wish to navigate to a new page when the ‘add new row’ button is selected so I have set the ‘insert rows automatically’ property to false. I have been able to capture the event in my controller and call the new page and then access the application module, however I do not seem to be able to set a property in the new child line from an attribute in the parent line.
    //in my AM I have called…
    public void CreateLine()
    //get child vo that is to have line added
    DoiLinesVOImpl vo = (DoiLinesVOImpl) getDoiLinesVO1();
    if (!vo.isExecuted()) vo.executeQuery();
    //find parent vo to determine which questionId the line relates to
    OAViewObject hvo = (OAViewObject)findViewObject("DoiDecQuestionsVO1");
    OARow hRow = (OARow)hvo.getCurrentRow();
    Number sid = (Number) hRow.getAttribute("QuestionId ");
    System.out.println ( " qid= " + qid );
    if ( vo != null)
    vo.setMaxFetchSize(0);
    Row vRow = vo.createRow();
    vo.insertRow(vRow);
    vRow.setAttribute("QuestionId",qid);
    vRow.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
    Initially the page was running, however it was only ever showing the id for the first line, regardless of which child table I was select add new line on. Now the new page errors and when I click on exception details the page does not show any error details
    Can anyone see anything wrong with the code in the AM or have any suggestions as to what else may be wrong. Is it actually possible to do what I am trying to do? My aim is to have a table of questions and then a table region under the detail region of each question. Either no lines, one line or multiple lines can be added under each questions details. The questions may have slightly different required fields so I would like to navigate to a new page and then back to the main page when save is selected.
    Any insights into what I am doing wrong or how I might achive my requirement would be very much appreciated.
    Mike.

    Ok, I have now got the page to stop erroring.
    I have created a new VO instance of the child EO in the application module and used the new vo in the seperate create page attributes, however when I query the current row against the parent vo I am still getting the value from the first line, not the selected parent line.
    mike.

  • Master / Details Regions with yui Calendar

    I have a Calendar of Events that I need to display.  I have put a yui Calendar in my Master Region, and need it to control the Details Region.  I can get the Details Region to show a single event per day.
    Is there a way to let the Details Region show multiple Events if they are scheduled on the same date?
    I do not have access to an external web server to post my page to, but here is the code to the Master/Details Region on my site:

        if (cn.indexOf('yui-skin-sam') == -1) {

      })();  var inityuicalendar1 = function() {
        var yuicalendar1 = new YAHOO.widget.Calendar("yuicalendar1");    // The following event subscribers demonstrate how to handle

    Notice on the schedule.htm file, there are some classes that have the same date.  I would like the Details region to show multiple classes based on the date.  Is that even possible?
    Thanks!

    @strick,
    Don't know if you got this sorted out already, but I'll add an answer since I looked here when trying to figure this out.
    I had the same problem.
    You can get this to do what you want in two steps:
    1.)  Just below the line in your code that reads
    var formattedDateString = data[0][0][1] + "/" + data[0][0][2] + "/" + data[0][0][0];
    add the following code:
    function myFilterFunc(dataSet, row, rowNumber)
    // Filter all rows with date = selected date
    if (row['Date'] == formattedDateString){
    return row;   }
    else {
    return null;}
    // Filter the data.
    dscalendar.filter(myFilterFunc);
    2.) Just after the line in your code that reads
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="1">
    add the following code:
    <tr spry:repeat="dscalendar">
    Ok, one last step for the code that you've listed here.  You should be able to get rid of all the <tr> tags except for the outermost ones.  So, it could
    look like this:
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="1">
       <tr spry:repeat="dscalendar">
        <td colspan="2"><h4>{Class}</h4></td>
        <td colspan="2">{Description}</td>
        <td>{Location}</td>
        <td>{Date}</td>
       </tr>
    </table>
    You can see a working example of this at http://www.coloradogreenline.com/YUISpryCalendar/sprytest6.html.  October 13, 2009 has more than one event scheduled.  This one doesn't display the data in table format, but you can still it working.
    Hope this helps.

  • Question of displaying Task Flow Region in Master-Details pattern

    We have a master-details page. There is a region on the details pane along with other widgets and the content of that details pane including the region depends on the row selection on the master table list.
    The first time page loads with no row selection on master table so this details pane displays nothing. When I select one row on the master table and the details pane and its region can display data of the row in master table properly.
    After several selection, I navigate to another page and then go back to this master-details page again, it automatically selects the row which was selected last time. And in the details pane, the region whose content was created basing a task flow call cannot display corresponding data of the default selected row while other widgets in the details pane can display corresponding data properly.
    The reason of having this problem is the region's parameter is generated before the selected row is determined. When the task flow call in page definition is parsed, the parameter of this task flow call is created before component binding of the master table. It means when the task flow call is parsed and generating the parameter, the ADF page believes there is no row selection of the master table because the component binding is null at that time.
    So my question is how to make the this task flow call for that region create the task flow call parameter after the component binding of the master table? Or is there any way to force a refresh of the region/task-flow-call after the render of response? Or is there anyway to disable this "auto-select" on the master table after navigating to other page?

    The reason we are using master-details patter here is it is designed in that way and the region is displaying the data of a selected row there.
    There is no master-details relationship on model layer. But the content of the region is from the result of several other Java API calls which call the task-flow from an external component.

  • Master Details Input Form

    Hi,
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1, ADFBC JSPX, I've created two tables dept with deptid and deptnm primary key deptid, emp with empno, empnm and deptid foreign key deptid references dept table.
    i've created business component Diagram, in that i dragged 2 tables. i've created views for that tables, and view link between these two. i've creaed Data Control as a Master Details. in Jspx, i dragged Dept View as a creation form, and down of that, Emp as a creation form, then from operations, i dragged commit and rollback buttons. When i'm testing in Application Module, it's running perfectly ok, while running jspx these errors are comming, how can i solve this.
    1. JBO-27027: Missing mandatory attributes for a row with key null of type AM.EmpView1
    2. Empno - JBO-27014: Attribute Empno in AM.EmpView1 is required
    3. Deptid - JBO-27014: Attribute Deptid in AM.EmpView1 is required
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
    Whatever link u've send i've tried that with using Service Requests and Products Tables.
    public Result newServiceRequestForNewProduct(String prodName,
    String prodDesc,
    String problemDesc,
    Number customerId){
    //1. Create a New Service Request
    ServiceRequestsImpl newSR = createNewServiceRequest();
    //2. Create a New Product
    ProductsImpl newProd = createNewProduct();
    newProd.setName(prodName);
    newProd.setDescription(prodDesc);
    //3. Set the product id to which service request pertains
    newSR.setProdId(newProd.getProdId().getSequenceNumber());
    newSR.setProblemDescription(problemDesc);
    newSR.setCreatedBy(customerId);
    //4. Commit the transaction
    getDBTransaction().commit();
    //5. Construct a bean to hold new product id and SR id
    Result result = new Result();
    result.setSvrId(newSR.getSvrId().getSequenceNumber());
    result.setProdId(newProd.getProdId().getSequenceNumber());
    //6. Return the result
    return result;
    After adding this code i'm trying to test client program. i'm getting errors like
    Error(66,25): interface javax.xml.transform.Result is abstract; cannot be instantiated
    Error(67,12): method setSvrId(oracle.jbo.domain.Number) not found in interface javax.xml.transform.Result
    Error(68,12): method setProdId(oracle.jbo.domain.Number) not found in interface javax.xml.transform.Result
    Anything else i'm missing here, please let me know.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sudha.
