Master-Slave Repository locking problem

Hi,
We are implementing SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0. I have few questions regarding MAster-Slave scenario.
1. At the time of importing supplier catalog data into Master Repository through Import Manager, the Master Repository will be locked for Read Access through SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI???
2. At the time of Master-Slave synchroniztion, which repository will be locked? Master or Slave or both? If both repositories are locked for searching, that means at that particular time, end users can't perform search.
3. If we go for Master-Slave scenario, how could I make my Master Repository Highly Available? As per SAP Note # 1170807, it is recommended that SRM-MDM catalog Search UI is mapped to work with slave repository. It means latest data will be there in Master Repsoitory and will only be available after synchronization.
4. If we create one or two slave repositories on the same server where we have master repository, how much extra resources will be required?

Yes, at that time Master repo will locked and if you are using master slave scenario thencatalo 3.0 will log in slave repository.Basically MDM catalog 3.0 first find available slave then only move to master.

At this time slave that is under synchronization proces will locked not master.

YES latest data in master only.High availability can achieved by what user set the synchronization frequency after each import or when.It is up to user only.

Again its up to user.they can maintain all repository on same server or all on different server.But preferable is atleast maintain master at different server.

Master-Slave Problem: Please Help

I am having a problem getting master/slave repositories set up for synchronization.
My MDM server environment is Solaris with Oracle 10.2 database.
MDM version is 5.5.41.58 (5.5 SP05).
I create a repository. I unarchive my data into it. I create a slave repository from it. I go into Data Manager and change the description of one product in the master repository. In the Console, the server log has the following message:
Master Server failed to log change because of error: The new transaction id is less than the last transaction id. (code 4289454080).
Has anybody had the same issue? Any clues as to what the problem and/or fix is?

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
The unarchive process involved the following: we have a production catalog running MDM 4.0.58. We had an SAP consultant assist in migrating our catalog to MDM 5.5 SP05. This was done using a local server running Windows and SQL Server. From the Windows MDM 5.5, I made an archive. I transferred it to the Solaris/Oracle environment. Using the Console I did the unarchive.
One interesting thing to note: when MDM 5.5 SP05 was installed on Solaris, the "Modifications" directory was not created. Initial attempts to synchronize gave a different error. I determined that the directory was missing and had our data center admin create it. He then stopped the MDM server and restarted it. Then I deleted my master and slave repositories and started over. And then got the error referenced above.
Running the CLIX command gives the following:
52 for the master and 50 for the slave.
In the server log, the only errors I see (other than the one about the transaction id's) are when starting the master and slave repositories I see:
SERVICE 'xxx', SCHEMA 'yyy', ERROR CODE=1002 ||| ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence Last CMD: SELECT PermanentId, Id, F153, F154, F163, F164, F353, F387, F414 FROM A2i_40
In the assertion log, there is nothing at the time of creating the slave. When starting the slave, there are many messages relating to accelerators. At the time when I was changing the data in the master, there are messages from A2iIndexedTransactions.cpp (lines 647, 119, 96, and 231).

Difficulties when creating a slave repository on MDM 7.1

Hi Experts,
We're trying to create a Slave repository on MDM 7.1, but when trying to connect to the other DBMS a message shows up saying that it's unable to connect with Database Server.
I went to the MDM log and found the following message:
Service 'MQ0', Schema 'system', ERROR CODE=12154 ||| ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified Last CMD:
Important information:
The servers are different, one for the master and the other for slave. (the DB is also in each correspondent server).
Both servers are on the same network.
The Oracle Listener is up and working, we could telnet it.
Does anybody faced with something similar?

Error in Synchronizing Slave Repository

Hi All,
I've created a Master / Slave pattern and when i make any changes in the Master and Synchronize the slave i get the following error:
"Unable to retrieve synchronization data from master repository. See the Assertion Log for more information."
In the assertion log it shows the error "When requesting pending changes, received the following error from the master MDS: Error opening file (code 2147614722)."
Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening and which file it is not able to open?

I tried to synchronize the slave of another repository. but this time i got the following error in the Assertion Log:
Error:Unable to open transaction log file C:\PROGRA1\SAPMDM1.5\Server\Modifications\REP_QUIZDTPXP-SERANE%SIMMSQL_8_16_4_3.xct because of error: Error opening file (code 2147614722).
I tried the find the .xct file but i couldn't find any. I'm working on Windows OS and my MDM server version is 5.5.42.66
Can u pls tell me where can i find this .xct file???

Master/Slave Settings?

Hello Everyone. I need a little guidance here. The original HD in my B&W, Rev 2, is a Maxtor 6.03GB, ATA, Model 90648D3. I have it partitioned, running Classic and OS 10.2.8. I also have a second SCSI drive, a Quantum Atlas 35GB that I've been using as storage but it's almost full. I decided to get a large HD so I recently purchased a Seagate Cheetah 73GB Ultra-2 SCSI. The drive is an 80 pin but came with a 68 pin SCSI adapter. i thought that the two SCSI drives, with different IDs of course, would work so I installed the drive, thinking that since it was SCSI that I wouldn't have the Master/Slave issue, however I can't boot from the new drive at all. I've tried everything, short of standing on my head, with no success. I would really like to have classic on one of the drives and Tiger on the other but the drives only show up when I reconnect the Maxtor and boot from it. Does anyone know what the problem is here?

Look like you did all the step correctly, but do you use an upgrade card?, because I saw it on your specs at the bottom of youe thread that "B&W G3 .. upgraded to G4", if that is so you are out of luck base on this page :

Maybe somebody would have a trick to install it using emulator software like xfacto or else, but I haven't try that and I heard it will chunk or disable some of Tiger feature, so what is the point of using Tiger if it is half a man it used to be..
Try to use your original processor first to install the system and after that, restart while pressing the mouse to pop the installer disk out, and press option to give you the option for start up disk. if you are too late, just restart again (after you take the installation disk out) by pressing the reset button or pull and plug back the power cable (not recommended) and hit option key until it give you start up disk option.
IF it still not coming up, maybe tiger doesn't support either your hd or scsi card for boot up.

I am attempting to duplicate the FPGA synthesis flow using XST and ACE to boot Solaris on a Digilent board. I encounter some steps, warnings, and errors listed below that are not covered in the documentation I have. In following section 6.2 of the DV Guide,

Hi sparcMT1,
I'm not sure what the problem is. When we read in the 9.2 project into 10.1, it updated cores with very few problems.
One thing you can try is to do only the automatic updates. For example, even though XPS says that "these changes need to be made by the user", just leave the MPMC with version 3.0. I'm looking at one of our projects, and it seems that we did just that.

Hello,
We don't want to manually sync slave repository through MDM console or MDM CLIX. I found command "CLIX repSynchronize <MdsHostSpec> <slaveRepositorySpec> <Credentials> [-D]" but is there a parameter we can set to sync slave repository automatically after every fix time interval or is there a way to synchronize slave repository automatically?

Master Catalog is locked!

Our master catalog is locked and I'm trying to unlock it. As I read some of the postings in this thread, I checked /CCM/D_CTLG_REG and I see two versions of our master catalog. However, both versions are inactive (there's no x next to either one).
To unlock or delete inactive catalogs, there's /CCM/CLEANUP_CATALOG. Since our master catalog is inactive for both versions, if I delete 'inactive' version, would that delete both of them? How do I set one of these to active and delete the inactive one?

We faced fimilar issue ... SAP has suggested this long back ->
The problem is as a result of a system restart which occured while a
publication job was in process. The shutdown cancelled the job for
program /CCM/PE_START_REG_PUBLICATION but did not cancel or clean up
the corresponding table entries which are causing the error you now
encounter
Go to table /ccm/d_pub_st
Here you will see one entry in status 'R' (Running) this needs to be
changed to status 'E' (Published with errors)
Then Use report again /ccm/cleanup_catalog

Unlock catalog
Go to transaction SE38 and execute program /CCM/CLEANUP_CATALOG. Information about the catalog status is held in table /CCM/D_CTLG_REQ.
If your catalog is locked by UI (i.e. publishing) try the report /CCM/CLEANUP_UPDATE_STATUS.

Master data table locked

I am doing Master Data loads, Longtime back we scheduled Infopackage Group IPAKGRP is having 3 Infopacks(ATTR,TEXT,IDATTR) are running as full loads in BW-DEV.
Today , for testing purpose I created to new Infopackage for ATTR only , and scheduled immedialtly,data comes in RSA3,PSA but not into Infoobjects i.e master tables:
it shows :
Master data table locked to processing
Diagnosis
The master data table is currently being processed. It is therefore locked and no other update processing can be carried out.
System Response
Update has been terminated.
Procedure
You can delete the lock if it is a leftover setting from a canceled load process.
Check the master data lock.

I checked in SM12, I am the only user using this Infoobject. When I open Infopak it shown in SM12 myname and this Master Infoobject. When comeout from Infopak under that Infoobjects infosorce it shows no entries in SM12.
1)What is reason for getting locks?
2)How to solve this to get data into INFO OBJECT?
3)What mistakes I had done? Shall i run Infopak group? Please tell steps how to run that.

Hi dear,
the temporary lock you see when you are in the infopackage doesn't cause any problem...it's normal and avoid that any other user access into the same IP...
No matter with your issue during dataloading...
Try to re-run the extraction and look if your problem is still there...then check in SM21 to verify WHERE is your problem...

Master/Slave Server is not reachable

We have standalone server install, but then I go to System->object finder and try to search something: i got the following error:
"Master/Slave Server is not reachable"

This typically indicates a problem with the System Identity User. Go to Common Services > Server > Security > System Identity Setup. Re-enter the username and password, and make sure the username points to an account with full access to all LMS applications and tasks.

Clix for Master-Slave Synchronisation

Sharing and Swapping Slave Repositories
You can use the repShare command to make a slave repository u201Cshareableu201D so that multiple MDM Servers can load it. Conversely, you must use the repExclusive command to return the slave to an unshared state before synchronizing it, so that a single MDM Server can issue the synchronization command.
An alternative to this methodology is to leave the single slave shared and loaded, and then:
       1.      Create a new slave from the Master.
       2.      Make that new slave u201Cshareable.u201D
       3.      Load the new slave without ports in the background using the repPreload command on each MDM Server that acts as a host.
       4.      After each host completes the background load, use the repSwap command to swap the new slave for the old on the same port.

Syndication from a slave repository

Hello colleagues:
Has anyone tryed syndicating from a slave repository?
I've found that I cannot even open the syndication map. If I try to create a map it won't do it. I guess it is because the read only attribute from a slave repository.
If anyone knows if this is possible or not, please confirm.

Slave is a read-only repository.
My question is why you have to use slave repository for syndication. Conceptually I feel you should syndicate from the master not from slave.
Because you will be synchronizing the slave from master repository periodically.

Beige G3 Hard Drive Slave IDE cable problem

I have an old beige G3 and have a 20GB Western Digital hard drive I’ve initialized and want to add as a slave. The problem is that while I have the required extra power out for the third 5.25” bay, there’s nowhere for me to connect into the IDE cable. The cable seems to be 1 female connector short. Is this something that was stock? I can deinstall the ZIP drive installed in the third bay, but I’d rather keep the whole thing intact if I can.
Am I going to have to add an IDE/SCSI PCI card? If so, do you have any recommendations? How would adding a card affect the existing SCSI chain? Also, is this sort of a change going to have any negative effects on the power supply, and is an addition like a slave HD recommended for an old beige from this point of view?

Your G3 natively supports IDE/ATA/ATAPI devices, having two ATA channels to do so. There is also an onboard SCSI-1 bus (max. 5 MB/sec), for connection of external/internal SCSI devices. Your profile info indicates the G3 Server, so you'd likely have an Ultra-SCSI PCI card and hard drive, if the hard drive is a SCSI device. The CD-ROM and Zip drives undoubtedly share one of the ATA channels. If that's the case, you still have an extra ATA channel for connection of extra IDE/ATAPI drives. What does the Apple System Profiler ("Devices and Volumes") indicate about the type(s) of installed drives? If your existing hard drive is connected to one of the ATA channels, you can configure dual drives as master/slave on that channel, provided that your G3 has a ROM revision $77D.45F1 or $77D.45F2
Assuming that you have the mini-tower model, the lone IDE hard drive in the top of the chassis usually has the single device OEM ribbon cable attached to it. If you want to connect a second drive as slave on the same ATA channel, you'll need a 24" (no longer) ribbon cable with connectors for both drives. The 24" cable has adequate separation between the drive connectors, enabling connection to each. Several years ago, I bought four of these ribbon cables (40-conductor, 24") from Radio Shack, but I don't even know if they still carry that item in their stores today. A PC store should have them. You can't use the newer 80-conductor Ultra-ATA ribbon cables, because they're typically only 18" long, and that's not long enough. Cables longer than 24" are prone to causing data corruption, so avoid them. For ease of connection, you may have to move the CD-ROM and Zip drives down one bay each, and install the slave hard drive in the bay formerly occupied by the CD-ROM drive.

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down. You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

Locking problem in VL02N at the time Post Goods issue

We have implemented 2 BADIs to change qty in delivery and in subsequent documents. Once we receive an IDoc with batches, then we need to change subitems qty according to no of batches.
Once IDoc has updated, then PGI will do automatically.
1. LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PROC - Change qty in delivery (Method SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE)
2. LE_SHP_GOODSMOVEMENT - Change qty in material document.
Now, we have a locking problem at the time of posting.
Please let us know, due to these BADI implementation this problem or any other cause? And provide required to solve this problem.

say ur Del.qty is 100, now u want to do del. of 50, then just u will change its qty & do PGI ? so whats the need of changing MBLNR.
while doing PGI , program will take changed qty of del. only ?
