Slave repository synchronization

Hello,
We don't want to manually sync slave repository through MDM console or MDM CLIX. I found command "CLIX repSynchronize <MdsHostSpec> <slaveRepositorySpec> <Credentials> [-D]" but is there a parameter we can set to sync slave repository automatically after every fix time interval or is there a way to synchronize slave repository automatically?
Thanks,
Urvi

Hi,
On which MDS system i need to run this command? MDM Master or MDM slave.
CLIX repSynchronize <MdsHostSpec> <slaveRepositorySpec> <Credentials> [-D]
Can you please help me with values for <MdsHostSpec> <slaveRepositorySpec> <Credentials> parameteres?
clix repSynchronize masterhost:<sidadm password> <slave repository>:<slave host>:<O- for oracle>:<slave db user id>:<slave db user's pwd> <slave repo user>:<slave repo user's pwd>
Is above correct?
I tried this on master server with Master SIDADM user and also same command i tried on slave server with slave SIDADM user, but I am getting below(same error on both):
Loading '/usr/sap/MWP/MDS00/exe/LangStrings/ADT.lang' (English [US])...
Loaded 53 strings from '/usr/sap/MWP/MDS00/exe/LangStrings/ADT.lang'
Loading '/usr/sap/MWP/MDS00/exe/LangStrings/CatMgrCommonCore.lang' (English [US])...
Loaded 1681 strings from '/usr/sap/MWP/MDS00/exe/LangStrings/CatMgrCommonCore.lang'
Error: 0xffaa0202, Invalid password
Please tell me which user I am putting wrong in above command?

  • Master-Slave Repository locking problem

    Hi,
We are implementing SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0. I have few questions regarding MAster-Slave scenario.
    1. At the time of importing supplier catalog data into Master Repository through Import Manager, the Master Repository will be locked for Read Access through SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI???
    2. At the time of Master-Slave synchroniztion, which repository will be locked? Master or Slave or both? If both repositories are locked for searching, that means at that particular time, end users can't perform search.
    3. If we go for Master-Slave scenario, how could I make my Master Repository Highly Available? As per SAP Note # 1170807, it is recommended that SRM-MDM catalog Search UI is mapped to work with slave repository. It means latest data will be there in Master Repsoitory and will only be available after synchronization.
    4. If we create one or two slave repositories on the same server where we have master repository, how much extra resources will be required?
    Thanks,
    Anshuk Saxena

    Hi Anshuk,
    1. At the time of importing supplier catalog data into Master Repository through Import Manager, the Master Repository will be locked for Read Access through SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI???
Yes, at that time Master repo will locked and if you are using master slave  scenario thencatalo 3.0 will log in slave repository.Basically MDM catalog 3.0 first find  available slave then only move to master.
    2. At the time of Master-Slave synchroniztion, which repository will be locked? Master or Slave or both? If both repositories are locked for searching, that means at that particular time, end users can't perform search
At this time slave that is under synchronization proces will locked not master.
YES latest data in master only.High availability can achieved by what user set the synchronization frequency after each import or when.It is up to user only.
    4. If we create one or two slave repositories on the same server where we have master repository, how much extra resources will be required?
Again its up to user.they can maintain all repository on same server or all on different server. But preferable is atleast maintain  master at different server.

  • Syndication from a slave repository

    Hello colleagues:
Has anyone tryed syndicating from a slave repository?
I've found that I cannot even open the syndication map. If I try to create a map it won't do it. I guess it is because the read only attribute from a slave repository.
If anyone knows if this is possible or not, please confirm.
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Jorge.

    Hi Jorge,
    <b>Slave is a read-only repository.</b>
My question is why you have to use slave repository for syndication. Conceptually I feel you should syndicate from the master not from slave.
Because you will be synchronizing the slave from master repository periodically.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Synchronizing Slave Repository

I have Server A with Repository Vendor running SP3 version. I have Server B running SP3 version. I created a Slave for the Vendor Repository on Server B . When I mount the repository on Server B and run Synchronization I get the error "Winsock error on gethost... functions".
How do I resolve this issue ?

    Hello Subbu,
Did you have to setup the port in services file ? Have you installed Sapgui frontend on the computer where MDM slave is running ?
Let me know if there is any way I can find how the port can be unlocked.
Where did you find the info regarding MDM port
I mounted the slave on port 3000 should I mount on 20001 ?

  • Repository synchronization between two sites

    Hi All,
We are using Oracle Designer 6i for our designs. We are creating DFDs, PFDs and ERDs. Two teams are working on this at two different locations. Can somebody suggest the way to synchronize (combine) the work done by both the teams into a single repository. For example, Team A has created DFDs, PFDs and ERDs at Location1. Team B is also creating DFDs, PFDs and ERDs at Location2. Team B will be using some of the functions in their diagrams created by Team A. Now we want to apply the changes done by Team B into the repository located at Location1.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
    regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Vishal,
thanks a lot for your reply. You have suggested that we can import the entire application system at Site B. At this time we are using non-versioned repository. And we are using only one application system. But the problem is that at Site B some people are making changes to the same application system used at Site A. I understand that if i have to import an application system, i have to make sure that there is no application system with the same name at the destination. So in this case if i have to import the Site A's application system at Site B, first i have to delete the Site B application system. In which case i will be losing all the changes made by the Team at Site B. But my requirement is that i want to incorporate the chages made at Site B's application system into the Site A's application system. Can you please give your thoughts about this.
    thanks in advance

  • MDM Workflow setup

    Hi All
We have the MDM setup as follows
1 Normal Repository serving the Preview environment
    1 Master Repository
1 Slave Repository serving the Production environment
The Slave Repository synchronizes itself with Master Repository using CLIX commands.
We would like to setup a workflow that moves the content from Normal repository to Master Repository, if the user initiates the same. ( no need of multiple approvals )
Is the above workflow setup feasible? or Do we have any specific MDM Client to perform the above operation?
Please let me know if you need more details regarding the same.
    Thanks
    Prakash

    Hello Prakash,
At this time, Workflow does not offer built-in means for operating on multiple repositories. Don't know about starting JavaAPI from workflows.
All I can think of is some sort of Syndication - Import solution, where the preview system syndicates and the production system imports. Launching Syndication from a workflow job should not be attempted in MDM version prior to SP06 patch 1 or, even better, patch 2. As far as I remember, you have an earlier version of MDM, so you will need to schedule Incremental Syndications. For example, a workflow can set a flag (Approved for Production) to true and the incremental syndication will output any record with that flag being true. Any other change made to the record will reset the flag to false.
I believe I already mentioned that one problem you have is your reliance on RecordIds for tracking records, as these ids are internal and subject to change over long terms. AutoIDs are guaranteed to be both unique and persistent over the lifetime of a record, but AutoIDs are always assigned by the system, so you can't pass them directly from a preview system to a production one. A simple solution would be to have two ID fields, one being an AutoID and another just text. On a preview system, the AutoID is assigned into the first field. When copying a record to a production system, you populate the other ID field with the value of the preview's AutoID field. That way, when tracking, you compare the AutoID of a preview record against the other ID of a production record. On the production system, the AutoID should be simply ignored. If you can tolerate different preview and production schemas, it might be a good idea to get rid of the production AutoID.
    Hope this helps,
    Simon

  • Synchronize Slave issue

    Hey all,
Any ideas on what is going here. I just created this new slave from the Master repository last night. Today when I try to synchronize the two, I get a fun little error: "Unable to retrieve synchronization data from master repository."
When I check the Assertion log, I find: "Error: When retrieving a change for synchronization, received the following error from the master MDS: Error seeking file pos (code 2147614726)."
The sync updates the slave repository with the new updates to the catalog that are changed in the master repository, fyi.
Again, any help on this would be great. Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
All slave repositories should be mounted on hosts running the same version (build number) of MDM Server software as their master repository. Changes made to a master repository running a different version of the MDM Server than a slave repository can not be synchronized by the slave.

  • Difference between Slave reporsitory and Duplicate repository

Please so kindly, help to explain the following question. Thanks!
1)Why use the port during Repository creation? Is the port connected to XI?
    2) Who can explain inside what the difference between Slave reporsitory and Duplicate repository?
    Example like below:
When we create a salve repository named "Test002" that was based on repositorty "Test001" (Port:"2345"), after creation, system shows the port for Test 002 is "2035" in Server level, the question is that how the system define the port? Normally, during repository creation, we have to enter a port by manually, but why, when we create a salve repository, system give us the port randomly.
    3) The same question like above about repository depulication.

    Hi Alfred
    1. I assume you're referring to the port number for a repository. Some of the MDM utilities connect to a repository which is identified by a port number. This is a TCP port number. Each repository on a server must have a unique port, and they ports should be spaced 5 ports apart (i.e. if repository A uses port 2000, then repository B should use port 2005 - 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 can be used by repository A.)
The port is not connected to XI.
    2. A slave repository is a <b>read-only</b> point-in-time copy of the master. The slave repository / repositories can be refreshed from the master as required. The slave is aware of who its master is. The master-slave scenario is utilised to create redundancy.
A duplicated repository is simply a copy of a repository. It is not read-only, and has no link to it's "source" repository.
Port numbers for new repositories are not random - they are calculated, starting from 2000 in increments of 5.
    3. Neither creating a slave nor creating a duplicate repository asks for a port number. The number used in both instances is calculated.

  • Master-Slave Problem: Please Help

I am having a problem getting master/slave repositories set up for synchronization.
My MDM server environment is Solaris with Oracle 10.2 database.
    MDM version is 5.5.41.58 (5.5 SP05).
I create a repository. I unarchive my data into it. I create a slave repository from it. I go into Data Manager and change the description of one product in the master repository. In the Console, the server log has the following message:
Master Server failed to log change because of error: The new transaction id is less than the last transaction id. (code 4289454080).
Has anybody had the same issue? Any clues as to what the problem and/or fix is?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Simon,
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
The unarchive process involved the following: we have a production catalog running MDM 4.0.58. We had an SAP consultant assist in migrating our catalog to MDM 5.5 SP05. This was done using a local server running Windows and SQL Server. From the Windows MDM 5.5, I made an archive. I transferred it to the Solaris/Oracle environment. Using the Console I did the unarchive.
One interesting thing to note: when MDM 5.5 SP05 was installed on Solaris, the "Modifications" directory was not created. Initial attempts to synchronize gave a different error. I determined that the directory was missing and had our data center admin create it. He then stopped the MDM server and restarted it. Then I deleted my master and slave repositories and started over. And then got the error referenced above.
Running the CLIX command gives the following:
52 for the master and 50 for the slave.
In the server log, the only errors I see (other than the one about the transaction id's) are when starting the master and slave repositories I see:
    SERVICE 'xxx', SCHEMA 'yyy', ERROR CODE=1002 ||| ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence   Last CMD: SELECT PermanentId, Id, F153, F154, F163, F164, F353, F387, F414 FROM A2i_40
In the assertion log, there is nothing at the time of creating the slave. When starting the slave, there are many messages relating to accelerators. At the time when I was changing the data in the master, there are messages from A2iIndexedTransactions.cpp (lines 647, 119, 96, and 231).
If you need any more info, let me know.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • The MDM repository is in read-only mode

    Hi Experts,
In our environment we have a Master ans Slave repository and the synchronization is being scheduled daily.
Now we understand from the MDIS logs of the Master repository that the repository is in Read-Only mode and none of the records can be updated / created.
We have tried restarting the repository too.
    Please advice.

    Chander,
We get Check/Verify Option only after repository is unarchived/created. So, this can not be applied in Maria's case....
    Maria,
Please let us know what version of MDM you are using.. Are you sharing database for MDM with other systems too??
Also, can you check MDM logs and provide detailed error message from logs...You can check MDM server logs either from Console or On MDM server log directory...
    This information will help..
Please also try this after setting following entry in MDS.INI file:

  • Clix for Master-Slave Synchronisation

    Hi SDNers,
I am using the Slave and Master reposirotries. If anyone has used CLIX for the Master-Slave synchronisation, please give the  related commands. File would be of greater help.
    Any suggestions are also welcome.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priti

    Hi Priti
    Copying from help.sap
    Sharing and Swapping Slave Repositories
You can use the repShare command to make a slave repository u201Cshareableu201D so that multiple MDM Servers can load it. Conversely, you must use the repExclusive command to return the slave to an unshared state before synchronizing it, so that a single MDM Server can issue the synchronization command.
An alternative to this methodology is to leave the single slave shared and loaded, and then:
           1.      Create a new slave from the Master.
           2.      Make that new slave u201Cshareable.u201D
           3.      Load the new slave without ports in the background using the repPreload command on each MDM Server that acts as a host.
           4.      After each host completes the background load, use the repSwap command to swap the new slave for the old on the same port.
