Materialized views used by answers

Hi,
I had create some materialized views for some graphs created on answers of Analytics. The problem i have is that the graphs still take much time to show the results, the materialized views has summarized measures from they original table which is of 33 millions rows to 2000 rows.
Is there any option do i have to check on the Administration of ORACLE Business Intelligence for the materialized views being take by the queries?
thanks a lot

Tables were not created and imported into the physical Layer
- What was imported into the physical layer if not tables?
Do i have to add the materialized views in the physical Layer?
- If query rewrite is turned on then the materialized views don't have to be. Oracle can rewrite sql in the backgrounf
I haven't eneabled the QUERY REWRITE, so maybe with this can used it.
- Worth a shot
Where do i have to check the statistics? in OEM or Settings-Manage Sessions ?
- You can use OEM to analyze tables and materialized views (and their indexes)
- Speaking of indexes - Are the indexes being used or is table access done with full table scans

  • Refresh materialized view using workflow

    Hi forum,
    I want to refresh some materialized views using oracle workflow.
    The dbms_mview.refresh is not in de list of public transformations when using the transformation activity.
    Does anybody have any suggestion / solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    Hello, Eric
    Try to import dbms_mview package into OWB repository and use them directly.
    The second, easy way - just wrap dbms_mview.refresh into private transformation and use it within your process. I use it in my projects - it works ok.

  • Creating the materialized view using the database link

    Hi Guys,
    I am using the Oracle 11g release version.
    Following is my question,
    I had created the Database link to get the data from remote DB table.
    Using that DB link, i can access the required table using SELECT statment.
    When i tried to create the materialized using that DB link.
    I am getting the error SQL Error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist.
    Can anyone please find the root cause and provide the solution for this?
    TIA,
    Dhivakar.

    Hi Dhivakar,
    try like this
    CREATE DATABASE LINK test
    CONNECT TO scott IDENTIFIED BY tiger
    USING 'orcl';
                         Pls make sure the table name.which ur using to create the materialized view.Thanks

  • Materialized View - "use log" and its "master table" assigned

    Oracle 10 g R2. Here is my script to create a mv, but I noticed two interestes properties by EM
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW "BAANDB"."R2_MV"
    TABLESPACE "USERS" NOLOGGING STORAGE ( INITIAL 128K) USING INDEX
    TABLESPACE "BAANIDX" STORAGE ( INITIAL 256K)
    REFRESH FORCE ON COMMIT
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE AS
    SELECT CM.ROWID c_rid, PC.ROWID p_rid, CM."T$CWOC", CM."T$EMNO", CM."T$NAMA", CM."T$EDTE", PC."T$PERI", PC."T$QUAN", PC."T$YEAR", PC."T$RGDT"
    FROM "TTPPPC235201" PC , "TTCCOM001201" CM
    WHERE PC."T$EMNO"(+)=CM."T$EMNO"
    In EM, the MV list shows a column - "Can Use Log".
    1. What does it mean?
    2. Why it only says yes, when I used above codes to create the MV; but says "NO" when I created the MV by "OUT JOIN"? no matter is "LEFT.." or "RIGHT JOIN"
    3. I also noticed that there is a column - "master table" and it always shows the name of the last table on the from list. Why? More important, does it matter to process. It shows the same table name when I use the "OUT JOIN" clause in from
    I have created mv log on each master table with row_id.

    Review the rules for your version of Oracle, you didn't think it important to name it, with respect to when you can do FAST REFRESH and when it can use REFRESH LOGs.

  • Cannot create Materialized View using PL/SQL procedure

    Hello,
    I have a question related to Materialized View creation.
    I have a stored procedure that creates materialized view. When trying to run this procedure I get insufficient privileges error: ORA-01031.
    When I run content of this procedure as anonymous PL/SQL block them materialized view is created without any complications.
    Can you please advice me on that topic?
    Is it even possible to create materialized view in stored procedure as I haven't found an info on it.
    Thanks
    Petr

    Hi chudapet,
    Whenever you do operation in procedure you need to have direct grants and not via a role.
    Most probably the grant to create materialized view is available via a role to your user.
    Assign direct grant to the user:
    grant create materialized view to scott;
    {code}

  • ORA-00957 Duplicate Column Name Materialized View  ( UPDATED: Not answered)

    Hello all.  I am getting this error when trying to create a Materialized View.  I have many other MV I created without problem, but I cannot find the catch up here, can anyone help?.  I cannot find any duplicates. The only duplicate I though was the Pipeline_Code column that was entered into the function and the one being being called out as a column. To check, I renamed the latter and still am getting this issue.

  • Very high parse times for query rewrite using cube materialized views

    We recently upgraded to version 11.2.0.2 (both AWM and Oracle database server). We are using cube materialized views with query rewrite enabled. Some observations of changes that took place when we rebuilt all the dimensions and cubes in this version:
    1. Queries against the base tables take about 35 seconds to parse. Then they execute in a tenth of a second. Even simple queries that just get a sum of the amount from the fact table (which is joined to all the dimensions) takes that long to parse. Once parsed, the queries fly.
    2. I noticed that the materialized views used to use grouping sets in the group by clause in version 11.2.0.1, but now they use group by rollup, rollup, rollup...
    If we disable query rewrite on the MV or for my session, parse times drop to less than a second. Ideas?

    There does appear to be a slow down in parse times between 11.1.0.7 and 11.2. We are still investigating this, but in the meantime here is a way to force the code in 11.2 to generate a GROUPING SETS clause instead of the new ROLLUP syntax.
    The trick is to create a dummy hierarchy containing only the leaf level. This is necessary for all dimensions that currently have a single hierarchy. As a simple example I created a dimension, PROD, with three levels, A, B, and C, in a single hierarchy. I then created a one dimensional cube, PC. Here is the SELECT statement for the MV in 11.2. Note the ROLLUP clause in the GROUP BY.
    SELECT
      GROUPING_ID(T3."CLASS_ID", T3."FAMILY_ID", T3."ITEM_ID")  SYS_GID,
      (CASE GROUPING_ID(T3."CLASS_ID", T3."FAMILY_ID", T3."ITEM_ID")
       WHEN 3
       THEN TO_CHAR(('A_' || T3."CLASS_ID") )
       WHEN 1
       THEN TO_CHAR(('B_' || T3."FAMILY_ID") )
       ELSE TO_CHAR(('C_' || T3."ITEM_ID") )  END)     "PROD",
      T3."CLASS_ID" "D1_PROD_A_ID",
      T3."FAMILY_ID" "D1_PROD_B_ID",
      T3."ITEM_ID" "D1_PROD_C_ID",
      SUM(T2."UNIT_PRICE")     "PRICE",
      COUNT(T2."UNIT_PRICE")  "COUNT_PRICE",
      COUNT(*)  "SYS_COUNT"
    FROM
      GLOBAL."PRICE_AND_COST_FACT" T2,
      GLOBAL."PRODUCT_DIM" T3
    WHERE
      (T3."ITEM_ID" = T2."ITEM_ID")
    GROUP BY
      (T3."CLASS_ID") ,
      ROLLUP ((T3."FAMILY_ID") , (T3."ITEM_ID") )Next I modified the dimension to add a new hierarchy, DUMMY, containing just the leaf level, C. Once I have mapped the new level and re-enabled MVs, I get the following formulation.
    SELECT
      GROUPING_ID(T3."CLASS_ID", T3."FAMILY_ID", T3."ITEM_ID")  SYS_GID,
      (CASE GROUPING_ID(T3."CLASS_ID", T3."FAMILY_ID", T3."ITEM_ID")
       WHEN 3
       THEN ('A_' || T3."CLASS_ID")
       WHEN 1
       THEN ('B_' || T3."FAMILY_ID")
       WHEN 0
       THEN ('C_' || T3."ITEM_ID")
       ELSE NULL END)  "PROD",
      T3."CLASS_ID" "D1_PROD_A_ID",
      T3."FAMILY_ID" "D1_PROD_B_ID",
      T3."ITEM_ID" "D1_PROD_C_ID",
      SUM(T2."UNIT_PRICE")     "PRICE",
      COUNT(T2."UNIT_PRICE")  "COUNT_PRICE",
      COUNT(*)  "SYS_COUNT"
    FROM
      GLOBAL."PRICE_AND_COST_FACT" T2,
      GLOBAL."PRODUCT_DIM" T3
    WHERE
      (T3."ITEM_ID" = T2."ITEM_ID")
    GROUP BY
      GROUPING SETS ((T3."CLASS_ID") , (T3."FAMILY_ID", T3."CLASS_ID") , (T3."ITEM_ID", T3."FAMILY_ID", T3."CLASS_ID") )This puts things back the way they were in 11.1.0.7 when the GROUPING SETS clause was used in all cases. Note that the two queries are logically equivalent.

  • Exporting data from a materialized view in Oracle 10g

    Can anybody tell me how to export data to a remote server and import data in that remote server without using ftp utility. Actually I want to export the data from a materialized view to the remote server and import the same in the remote server.
    If everything works well, I'll put the exporting and importing in a cronjob.
    Please let me know how can I do that if that's possible .
    Any reply would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Here is what I'm trying to do.
    I created materialized views using multiple base tables in my local server and the base tables got populated using a long process.
    Now I want to copy those data alone to some remote server since it doesn't have any base tables in it. For now, the remote server should depends on the localserver's data. I'm going to use the remote server's data for some testing purposes.
    I know it is easy to create mat.views in the remote server but it doesn't have I don't want to do that now. I just want to copy the snapshots from my local server to the remote server.
    Please let me know how to do that.
    Thanks.

  • Need help on tuning materialized view refresh

    Hi All,
    I am working on materialized view refresh tuning.Initially it was complete refresh and used to take more than 90 mins to complete.
    I changed it to fast refresh now it is completing fast. Now i have partitioned the base tables gl_balances and gl_code_combinations of column code_combination_id and created a local index on column code_combination_id then i am trying to partition the materialized on the same column to take advantage of partition change tracking.
    Size of gl_balances base tables is 40Gb and all others tables sizes are small. In where clause there all the 4 tables are mapped. If i will create the partition only on code_combination_id will i the materialized will become the candidate for partition change tracking. As i know it will be applicable for PCT. I need expert advice on this.
    While doing a fast refresh. the refresh takes less time. when there is a change in gl_balances , gl_code_combinations or gl_periods it completes in 20-30 mins. When there is a change in gl_set_of_books tables. It creates a problem here.DEL query takes more than 48 hours to complete.

    ********************************************************************************GL_SETS_OF_BOOKS has only 6 rows. I know there is complete refresh as a option which will again take more than 90 mins.
    I want to do the fast refresh. Tables rows details below.
    SQL> select count(*) from gl.gl_code_combinations21;
    COUNT(*)
    3075255
    SQL> select count(*) from gl.GL_PERIODS;
    COUNT(*)
    1160
    SQL> select count(*) from gl.gl_balances21;
    COUNT(*)
    477613527
    SQL> select count(*) from gl.gl_sets_of_books;
    COUNT(*)
    6gl_sets_of_books has less rows. Whenever there is a change then it mapped to huge rows hence during materialized view has delete huge number of rows.
    select count(*) from apps.BAL_PART group by C3;
    C3 is the rowid which is present in create materialized statement.
    COUNT(*)
    292927011
    210215
    69330
    184406971
    Is there any way to improve the plan. As i created a partition on code_combination_id and local index on code_combination_id which will not help in set_of_books_id case. I dont PCT will help here or not. Is it possible to use PCT refresh by equipartitioning only one column in where clause.
    Please assist me in improving refresh of materialized view using fast refresh.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Materialized view with dynamic filter

    I have a query which has a dynamic filter in the where clause. Dynamic in the sense, the value in the where condition will be obtained only when the query is run.
    The user interface is Business Objects tool i am using, based on the user login variable, the query is formed. Is there a possibilty to create a materialized view using this query.
    The query looks like this. The part in BOLD section is the filter. This query is taking long time and hence i am going for materialized view. Please suggest a solution

    You could potentially create a single materialized view that had no restriction on the BOLOGIN column and allow Oracle to use that materialized view to be used to satisfy requests from the different users. You may need to add appropriate indexes to the materialized view for that to be a reasonable option, depending on how many distinct BOLOGIN values you expect.

  • UPDATING the query in materialized view

    Hi,
    i have a little doubt in Materialized view. i created a materialized view and log with the following query,
    create table test_mv (a number ,b number )
    alter table test_mv add constraint t_pk primary key ( a );
    insert into test_mv values (1,2);
    insert into test_mv values(2,2);
    insert into test_mv values(3,2);
    insert into test_mv values(4,2);
    insert into test_mv values(5,2);
    commit;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON test_mv
    WITH SEQUENCE, ROWID
    *(a,b)*
    INCLUDING NEW VALUES;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW product_sales_mv
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE
    AS SELECT  b  from test_mv;
    Now i want to update the query in the MV as 'Select a from test_mv' . for that i tried with
    *'ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW product_sales_mv AS SELECT a from test_mv;'*
    But it throwing error,
    Error starting at line 5 in command:
    alter  MATERIALIZED VIEW product_sales_mv   AS SELECT  b  from test_mv
    Error report:
    SQL Error: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
    +00933. 00000 - "SQL command not properly ended"+
    *Cause:+
    *Action:+
    i guess i am doing wrong. kindly help me here. i want to update it without drop and recreate.
    thanks,
    Jeevanand.Ke

    Hi Jeeva,
    No. you cannot add or drop columns to the materialized view using the ALTER Statement.
    To Change the Structure of the view , drop and re-create the materialized view.
    To Alter a materialized view log, You can use the ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG. By this,
    You can add new columns to a materialized view log.
    ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON sggi_mrps.emp ADD(deptno);Thanks,
    Shankar

  • A problem about ORA-12058 of materialized view

    consider the huge data of tableB, we make a decision about build materialized view using "on prebuilt table" parameter.
    create materialiezd view log on tableB rowid mode.
    when we create materialized view we got the error ORA-12058.
    Is there someone can tell us why?
    thank you very much我
    SQL> CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW USERA.TABLEA
    3 REFRESH FORCE
    4 WITH ROWID
    5 AS SELECT * FROM USERB.TABLEB@DBLINK01 ;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW USERA.TABLEA
    ON PREBUILT TABLE
    REFRESH FORCE
    WITH ROWID
    AS SELECT * FROM USERB.TABLEB@DBLINK01
    ORA-12058: materialized view cannot use prebuilt table

  • Materialized view showing red cross in front of it in SQL developer

    we created a materialized view in oracle database,it works fine, and other views that select on  it return results and work fine too. But it has a red cross in front of it in oracle developer.
    I then refresh the view, or recreate the view, it shows green, but after a while when I come back, the red cross show up again.
    What does it mean, any error message we can find?
    Thanks

    It means your system is working NORMALLY! There is no 'error message' to find because there is no error. What you describe is EXACTLY how MVs are designed to work.
    It is NORMAL for MVs to be, and to become, invalid, especially if there refresh setting is ON DEMAND. Don't confuse 'validity' with 'staleness'; they are very different things.
    See the section 'Invalidating Materialized Views' in the Data Warehousing Guide'
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28313/advmv.htm#i1007082
    Invalidating Materialized Views
    Dependencies related to materialized views are automatically maintained to ensure correct operation. When a materialized view is created, the materialized view depends on the detail tables referenced in its definition. Any DML operation, such as an INSERT, or DELETE, UPDATE, or DDL operation on any dependency in the materialized view will cause it to become invalid. To revalidate a materialized view, use the ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW COMPILE statement.
    A materialized view is automatically revalidated when it is referenced. In many cases, the materialized view will be successfully and transparently revalidated. However, if a column has been dropped in a table referenced by a materialized view or the owner of the materialized view did not have one of the query rewrite privileges and that privilege has now been granted to the owner, you should use the following statement to revalidate the materialized view:
    ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW mview_name COMPILE;
    The state of a materialized view can be checked by querying the data dictionary views USER_MVIEWS or ALL_MVIEWS. The column STALENESS will show one of the values FRESH, STALE, UNUSABLE, UNKNOWN, UNDEFINED, or NEEDS_COMPILE to indicate whether the materialized view can be used. The state is maintained automatically. However, if the staleness of a materialized view is marked as NEEDS_COMPILE, you could issue an ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW ... COMPILE statement to validate the materialized view and get the correct staleness state. If the state of a materialized view is UNUSABLE, you must perform a complete refresh to bring the materialized view back to the FRESH state. If the materialized view is based on a prebuilt table that you never refresh, you will need to drop and re-create the materialized view.
    As the doc states Oracle will normally 'revalidate' an MV when it is referenced. You can do this manually by using 'ALTER . . . COMPILE'. For an ON DEMAND MV compiling it will NOT alter the contents of the MV - it may stil be STALE.
    You don't need to REFRESH or recreate the MV to make it valid; just recompile it. If it doesn't become VALID after you compile it then there is usually an issue with one of the dependent objects that you need to resolve.

  • Erro perforing Fast Refresh of Materialized View.

    Hi Experts,
    We are facing serious problem while refreshing materialized views using fast refresh option in ORACLE..
    For the very first time we are performing Complete refresh of data from DB1 to DB2 for few tables.Ongoing we are performing Fast Refresh.
    Sometimes the fast refresh works fine without any error and sometimes it fails with the below error.
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-32320: REFRESH FAST of "CIR"."C_BO_COMM" unsupported after cointainer table

    ORA-06512: at line 1we came to know the folowing.

    // *Action:
                   Use REFRESH COMPLETE.
         Note:
                   you can determine why your materialized view does not support fast refresh after PMOPs using
                   the DBMS_MVIEW.EXPLAIN_MVIEW() API.Please let u know what action to be taken to avoid this.
    Please note that this error is not repeated always. Some times REFRESH FAST is happening and some times it is throwing error.
    Appreicate your earliest reply.
    Thank you.

    9i doesn't support fast refresh after truncate. Read the metalink note 275325.1
    You should be sure no truncate has been executed, or use complete refresh.
