MATLAB Node without a MATLAB Licence?

Hey,
I've seen that LabVIEW demand the installation of MATLAB when executing a MATLAB Node. We have only one licence of MATLAB that's not installed on the LabVIEW PC. Is there a MATLAB runtime engine available to execute MATLAB Nodes without the completely installation of MATLAB (e.g. like LabVIEW runtime engine)?

You need to have a licensed copy of The MathWorks, Inc. MATLAB® software version 6.5 or later installed in order to use the MATLAB script node. Unfortunately, I do not know of anything like a MATLAB runtime engine. However, introduced in LabVIEW 8.0, the MathScript node may be able to natively execute your particular scripts. It uses a syntax that is generally compatible with the MATLAB software. LabVIEW 8.2 added support for the MathScript node in the application builder so you can deploy your applications to PCs that don't have a version of LabVIEW installed.

Matlab node crashes LV 8.5

Today, I observed a bizzare phenmenon in LV 8.5, when playing with Matlab Script node.
Just open any example from the Example Finder. Rt click on the Script node & Choose Script Server -->> Xmath Script.
Now, do a Ctrl + Z [Undo] & LV ll get crashed.

Matlab node does not work

I tried to implement a function that a colleague had coded in Matlab. I noticed that it did not seem to operate. Next, I resorted to trying the example quoted in LabVIEW help. This did not work either, i.e., the script
a = rand(50);
surf(a);
did not open any new windows. Another test vi that used Matlab node with x (vector), a, b (real numbers) inputs and y (vector) output intended to produce a line with the slope of a and intercept b did not yield any output whatsoever. Can anyone suggest the reason for this? I am using LabVIEW 6.1 full version and Matlab 7 R14 SP1.

I have a suspicion that you are correct about this being "I did not tell you to upgrade to THAT version" problem. This interface is very susceptibility to the version of both LabVIEW and MATLAB.

Labview 2011 FDS (64bit) crashes when saving a vi with MATLAB node

After running a vi which includes a MATLAB node, the vi cannot be saved, because Labview crashes every time with error: "DAbort 0x1A7102DF in fpsane.cpp".
Why does a MATLAB node with simple array I/O corrupt LABVIEW's sanity ???
I have attached a minimum configuration, which gives a reliable crash. First run, then push save.
Configuration: Windows 7 (new installation), Labview FDS (64bit), MATLAB (64bit)

When such errors happen in an application that uses the Call Library Node, you can be almost certain that it is a problem in how the Call Library Node was configured (wrong!) or a bug in the DLL. That you happen to see this error, only means that the external code happend to overwrite memory that it was not supposed to do, and that memory happened to be some data structure that LabVIEW uses to represent some front panel element. That it didn't happen in 8.2 doesn't mean that it didn't have that error there too, only that it overwrote some different memory location, that had unluckily for you no visible consequences.
For all other cases with no Call Library Node included, it means that the VIs front panel resource got somehow damaged (and yes this could also happen from running the VI in an application with misbehaving Call Library Node, and then saving the VI). The most easy solution is to rewrite the VI, another option is to try to force a recompile with the Ctrl button pressed and then activating the run button in the VI toolbar. Other than that there is little we normal users can do. The only people who can do more here are the LabVIEW developers who can look inside the VI and identify the damaged data structure and repair it, but that is a lot of work and time, and NI doesn't commit to doing this normally.

Matlab : 3D-array es input of a matlab node

Hello,
I'd like to know if it's possible to pass a 3D-array as an input of a Matlab node ?
I intend to process a stack of images (2D data UINT8) with a Matlab script
The stack of images result of autoindexing of a for loop which builds the 3D-array.
I want to do this because I already have a Matlab node that is executed each iteration of the for loop, which takes a lot of time.
The input matlab node is an array (real matrix) that comes from an image.
If I could put the matlab node outside of the for loop, I hope this would execute faster

There are a few ways to deal with this, but it would help to see your code. Are you sending a reference of the Cluster into a VI, or individual references of the checkboxes? It sound like you are not using a strict reference. The workaround, since you know the datatype, is to use Variant to Data and change the variant to a boolean, but this shouldn't be necessary. Again, post some code so we can be more help.
edit: It sounds like you are trying to hard code Radio Buttons. You do know that LabVIEW has Radio Buttons now, right?

How can I copy property nodes without them unlinking?

I'm in the process of designing a VI that allows the user to choose between two methods of data analysis, each with a unique display structure. So I set up the two display methods, and overlapped them, and wrote a quick sequence to make the appropriate set appear/disappear using the visible property node. I wanted to be able to copy the frame where I made all the elements of one type invisible. However, when I copied the property nodes, they all unlike from their front panel items. I found a more elegant way around the issue, but the problem remains: is there any way to copy property nodes without having to relink them manually afterwards?

If you copy by selecting the items and then while holding down the Ctrl key (on a PC) drag a copy instead of copying and pasting the property nodes won't unlink.

How to start / stop nodes without domain-controller / automatically on Win?

Hi,
we have a distributed installation of CMSDK 9.0.4.
We have installed a 9.2.0.4 Database on Solaris and we are using the 10g(9.0.4) Infrastructure on Solaris with it.
The first installation of CMSDK uses a J2EE-MidTier installation on the Solaris server and contains the CMSDK domain controller and a normal node with nfs protocol server running.
The other installations are done on Win2003 Blades. Currently we are using two Blades. On each there is a J2EE-MidTier installation and within these we have installed CMSDK with HTTP-Node and normal node. We are using NTFS-Server within the normal nodes.
The Blades are within one Domain and we have NLB-Cluster activated for both.
The whole thing sounds complex, but it works fine. We only have some trouble regarding start/stop of the nodes:
1. If the solaris backend fails, our cluster-configuration tries to stop and start cmsdk. While stopping cmsdk, all nodes - even those on the Win-Servers - are stopped. But starting does not bring em up again automatically.
2. If a Windows Server is booted, the normal node does not start automatically.
3. If one Windows Server is not available, the ifsctl check takes a very long time because it's trying to get information from the missing one.
Is there a way to restart the domain controller and node on solaris without stopping the nodes on Windows?
How can we start the windows nodes automatically after reboot?
Is there a way to probably start the nodes without being managed / guarded by the domain controller?

Try adding this script to your /etc/init.d directory:

ifsctl start << EOF
<ifsctl password>
EOF
Replace <ifsctl password> with the password that you would give at the prompt.
It will complain about Inappropriate ioctl for device, but it works.

11i load balancing web nodes without use of Hardware http load balancer

I am looking at note 217368.1 (Advanced Configurations and Topologies for Enterprise Deployments of E-Business Suite 11i) and some other notes on load balancing but some aspects are not clear.
Aim is to implement load balancing traffic to web nodes without using Hardware ( BigIP, cisco etc) for HTTP layer load balancing.
Which is more preferable between dns or Apache Jserv load balancer ?
Need details like failover capabilities, death detection of node, functionality testing and ways to monitor Apache Jserv load balancer.
Any help in this regard is welcome .

Oracle recommends using loadbalancing hardware rather than using DNS. If you want the features you mention above, you will need a hardware loadbalancer.

2- i want when selected from tree run page process according to value of tree node i tray to create Dynamic action with *(jquery selector : div.tree li>a)* but the Value of node incorrect.

for what it's worth for anyone with the same problem, the problem was that the node was being regenerated as a different object so each time it went through the object wasn't the same and therefore had a new expanded value as default of false.

Firstly I was using the single CUCM7.0 server with the single UCCX 7.0 server. Now I am going to add the second CUCM and UCCX in the cluster. I was first configured the UCCX server as a single node. Now I have to configure this as a first node. How I could configure this from single node to the first node without affecting it's configurations..??????

It is not sufficient to disregard running your Matlab code in LabVIEW based on a few exceptions without first thoroughly evaluating the impact they have.

The problem lies with the AddTreeViewItems method
seen above. Currently, if I call the method by let's say:
AdvancedErrorCalculationViewModel.AddTreeViewItems("Parent","Child 1", "Completed");
it creates the parent and child nodes just fine. No issues there.
However, if I call the method again with the same Parent name but a different Child; for example:
AdvancedErrorCalculationViewModel.AddTreeViewItems("Parent","Child 2", "Completed");
It creates a new Parent node with a child node Child 2 instead. Thus, I have something like this:
- Parent
- Child 1
- Parent
- Child 2
I would like to modify this function so that if the parent name is the same, the child node should belong under the previous Parent instead
of under a new Parent node. Something like this:
- Parent
- Child 1
- Child 2
Could anyone help me modify my code to detect if the Parent node exists in the observablecollection already and if so, place the child node under the existing parent? The main problem I am facing is trying to add items to a previously created observable collection
with an existing hierarchy because I don't know how to access the previous observable collection anymore. Help me with this please.

You need to try and find an existing entry and if it's there add the child to that instead.
I notice you're a student and I guess this is probably an assignment.
By the way.
I suggest you work on the name of your collections and classes there.
EG A class should be singular but way more meaningfull than treeviewsubitem.
Anyhow, finding the top node could be done using linq. Since you can get none, SingleOrDefault is the method to use.
Thus something like:
TreeViewClass tvc = treeViewObsCollection.Where
(x=>x.Title == passedTopNodeName).SingleOrDefault();
Will give you tvc null or the qualifying entry.
If it's null, do what you have now.
If it's not then add the child item to tvc.
tvc is a reference to the TreeViewClass you have in that collection.
