Max 12 Clients - Extreme w/o PoE using WPA2?

I work in a school that is covered by many 54g AirPort Extreme base stations. We recently moved half the network over to WPA2 from WEP, but we are finding that some non-Power over Ethernet base stations are only allowing 12 clients (G4 iBooks) onto the network.
In a room filled with 28 iBooks and a MacBook, they all connect to the base station, but only traffic from 12 of them makes it to the ethernet network, and if you turn off AirPort on an iBook that is working, then another one 'takes it's place' on the network.
When we do the same test with a PoE BS (using the same power adapter, and all other BSs in the building turned off), all 29 clients connect and get onto the wired network without any problem.
This seems to only happen with WPA2 and not WEP. Has anyone else found this? We tried it with a selection of BSs we use and found a few that did it and a few that didn't, I'd hate to think how many don't work campus wide. According to MacTracker all the extreme BSs should support 50 clients, with no stipulations about encryption.

You need to increase the linesize and screen buffer settings.
If you are using SQL*Plus for windows, you can change the same from Options->Environment. You might need to resize the SQL*Plus window for this change to take effect.
If you are using command line SQL*Plus, you need to change the command window properties accordingly.

  • Can't connect to home wireless network using WPA2

    Using PowerPC 10.4 Tiger.
Wireless is detected by airport card with pw prompt as WEP, but the network actually uses WPA2. Enter PW in prompt, but, of course, it was rejected.
My iPhone can get into my WiFI with WPA2 just fine.
    What gives?
When network is configured for WEP, I can log in just fine, but can't take advantage of 802.11n (pre)

To use WPA2 requires an Airport Extreme card.
Run Apple System Profiler and under "Network" select "Airport Card" and it will tell you what type of Airport Card you have. If you don't have an Airport Extreme, you can't use WPA2.
Also, even if you have Airport Extreme cards in your computers, you may need to install extra software to enable use with 802.11n as described in this link

  • Even using the MAC Filter as a device can circumvent my Wi-Fi coming from anAirPort Extreme and using WPA2?

    Hello friends,
Even using the MAC Filter as a device can circumvent my Wi-Fi coming from anAirPort Extreme and using WPA2?
The device in question is known and therefore not using MAC address cloning.
I'm using version 5.6 of the AirPort Utility, since the new version does not provide a graph of signal from each connected client.
The MAC address in question is selected, but were covered for safety reasons.
    Help me understand this question.
Fig01. The MAC addresses listed in my device.
Fig02. The devices connected to my network. Including the unauthorized device.
Fig03. The history of connected clients on my network.

It appears that you may be using the Timed Access settings.
Check the "Default Rule" for your network. If the "Default" is Unlimited Access.....then any device that has the password for your wireless network will be allowed to connect at any time that they wish.
You need to change the "Default" rule for the network to "No Access".
Then devices will be only be allowed to connect according to the rules and time limits that you establish and configure for each individual device.

How to load a client file in a clob using sqlcl

You don't "load" jars. If it's on the classpath, you can obtain individual resources from it using various methods on either Class or ClassLoader. Do you mean "how to add a jar to the classpath at runtime"? Can't be done without using a classloader, typically URLClassLoader or a subclass thereof. Why you want to not use the proven method is beyond me. Presumably because you don't understand classloading. In which case, forget it.

I am having a similar and more serious problem. It takes a

How can I set up a guest access point with a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme? I am using a Telus router with the Time Capsule used as a wireless access point (bridge mode). I don't want the guest access point to have access to my network.

The Guest Network function of the Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme cannot be enabled when the device is in Bridge Mode. Unfortunately, with another router...the Telus...upstream on your network, Bridge Mode is indicated as the correct setting for all other routers on the network.
If you can replace the Telus gateway with a simple modem (that performs no routing functions), you should be able to configure either the Time Capsule or the AirPort Extreme....whichever is connected to the modem....to provide a Guest Network.

I'm trying to add my HP wireless printer as a "new client" to my wireless network using Airport Utility, but I can't find that option in the new version.  I've downloaded all available updates of the OS and the utility..  Help!

Why would you need to ADD a new Client. Unless the APE sytem is completely different then any other Wireless router the printer should get an IP address from the router. That is IF the printer is setup to get an IP from the LAN DHCP server.
Now you may want to make that IP it does get a Staticly assign IP address so it never changes, which will screw up printing if it does change. But i don't know if you can do that with APE routers.

Mavericks is extremely slow. NetFlix used to stream just fine until I got the "upgrade." Everything is slower now, and I have plenty of RAM. Any insights?

    Hello Sunny James,
I would be concerned too if my iMac was running slowly after upgrading to Mavericks.  I found a couple of articles I recommend to help isolate and troubleshoot this issue.
I recommend reviewing this article first for possible causes of the slowness:

You can further isolate the issue by determining if it is only happening in your user account or if it is happening system-wide:

    Hello,
Am caught up with an error and i can't get past it, need some help here.
My application is a batch processing web service client, reads some input rows, sends web service requets, processes the responses and logs it.
The application runs well in normal mode, but under load(more thread count), I get this wierd error and I can't make it go away.

This is not an error that server is not closing connections properly as I was able to test with SOAPUI and LoadRunner with even higher threads and it ran without problems. SOAPUI and LoadRunner scripts were executed from the same client machine as my application uses. Please help.

Move server socket creation out of while loop. You don't need to create new server socket every time.

  • Can't change Airport Extreme settings using WPA2 Enterprise

I have a 4th Gen Airport Extreme Base Station that is running 7.6.1 firmware and I've updated the Airport Utility to 6.0 and OS X Server to 10.7.3
I use WPA2 Enterprise using the Radius Server set up from the Server admin tools in Lion Server. I am using my CA signed certificate for the server as my server-side cert. I can connect fine to the wireless network with all my idevices and my MacBook Pro, but whenever I use Airport Utility to amend settings of the Base Station e.g. Back to my Mac, I cannot make updates.
Whenever I click 'Update' I get the following error - 'Invalid value' The value for "Password" is invalid. When I click Review Settings, it takes me to the Shared Secret settings for the connection, but as far as I'm concerned this never needs to be known or changed.
    Any ideas?

I have the same problem.. Airport utility 6.0 on 4th gen airport extreme and server 10.7.4.
    DNS, Radius and Open Directory.
Any update on Airport Util results in "'Invalid value' The value for "Password" is invalid"
Only work around I've found like above is to set network mode to "off" under wireless tab. Update Airport Utility ... then remove/add my base station in Server admin under 'radius' 'base stations' ..
Really very annoying because what I actually want to change is the WPA/WPA2 to WPA2 ONLY.
By default when the base station is added in 'server admin' it sets it as WPA/WPA2 and there is no option to change or control this in 'server admin'... so basically I can not change this option.
I thought maybe that 'invalid' characters (for the airport) where being used by server admin when it generates the 'shared secret' .. so have tried changing to a very simple shared secret in 'airport utility' ... but I still get the same error - "The value for "Password" is invalid"
I will try downgrading to 5.6 but this really is very annoying especially as its a fault that has been allowed to rollover into 10.7.4 !!!!
    Sort it out Apple!

  • EAP-TLS client security policy enforcement question using ISE

    Hi Experts ,
I have remote site connected to HQ wireless controller and cisco ISE used as RADIUS server . I am using EAP-TLS authentication method where client will validate the server certificate and server will validate the client certificate.
I am using EAP-TLS and machine authentication.
In case of server certificate installation using internal PKI (Root CA ) server , I am quite clear that we can create certificate in ISE and can be signed by CA which will be used for EAP-TLS as well. however I am trying to under the client certificate installation.
how does client gets certificate from CA. is there any mechanism used by AD to import the certificate automatically to all the clients ?
and more important is , which certificate will be installed on client machines. Do we need to create certificate first from CA and save in repository and later can be installed same to client machines .... Sorry it could be microsoft AD related question however i am pretty sure that since we as a wireless techie , need to know even client side configuration.
This is all about certificate installation . how about entire security policy which is used for EAP-TLS ?
how will client wireless network adapter properties automatically configured with same SSID which is configured with EAP-TLS along with certificate validation ?
I am not sure ... will it get pushed through AD ? how will it happen ?
It would be really helpful if someone could put light on this ..

    Hello Vino,
    Some answers below :
how does client gets certificate from CA. is there any mechanism used by AD to import the certificate automatically to all the clients ?
You have templates in the certificate authority to user or machine certificate and you can apply these certificates to a group of machines or users using GPO in the Windows Server 2008.
It can be automatically because the machine can get it using GPO from domain and after can authenticates using 802.1X using these certificates received from this policy.
If you want a user certificate and get it manually you can access the CA too using the URL https://X.X.X.X/certsrv and request manually the user certificate using your domain credentials and install manually to authenticate using EAP-TLS with this user certificate.
In the Cisco ISE Side it needs to have a local certificate from the same client CA or from another CA and the Cisco ISE needs to trust in the clients CA Issuer to accept the client certificate and allow this one to access the network.
In the client side the same happens, the client needs to trust in the Issuer CA for the Cisco ISE certificate to validate ISE certificate and get access to the network.
and more important is , which certificate will be installed on client machines. Do we need to create certificate first from CA and save in repository and later can be installed same to client machines .... Sorry it could be microsoft AD related question however i am pretty sure that since we as a wireless techie , need to know even client side configuration.
If you have a Windows Server with GPO and a CA configured you can use some templates to apply automatically a machine certificate or user certificate to a group of machines or user, in the case of machines it can be get from the domain using GPO and in the case of user certificate it can be get manually or using GPO too.
This is all about certificate installation . how about entire security policy which is used for EAP-TLS ?
The EAP-TLS is the most secured method to use to authenticate devices in the network because you have certificates and you have trusted certificate authority that you trust and only devices who has certificates from these CAs will be allowed to access the network.
Another method very secured is EAP-FAST with machine and user certificate that the ISE will validade both the machine and user certificate before allow this one to get access to the network.
how will client wireless network adapter properties automatically configured with same SSID which is configured with EAP-TLS along with certificate validation ?
You can apply it too using GPO in the Windows Server to a domain machine but when you have a machine that is not a domain machine you can use a user certificate to authenticate this one and need to install manually the user certificate in that machine to authenticate the user to wireless network and create SSID specifying the policy that is EAP-TLS.
Remember that client machine needs to have the CA issuer for the Cisco ISE certificate to trust in the Cisco ISE and get access to the network and the opposite too (ISE needs to have the CA Issuer to trust in the client)
    I hope it helps.

  • Configuring AAA network client on ACS v5.1 using the same RADIUS atributes from ACS v3.3

    Hello,
I was wondering if i should use the same RADIUS VSA attribute on ACS v5.1 to authenticate AAA clients as those i was using on my old     ACS v3.3 server.
Exemple : under ACS v3.3 i was using RADIUS (Cisco Aironet) attribute to authenticate AP & WLC, should i do the same under ACS v5.1 ?
    Best regards.

    Hello,
When defining AAA client on the new ACS 5.x server you just select TACACS+ or RADIUS. We no longer define the RADIUS "vendor"/"VSA" when creating the AAA Client entry. All AAA client would be defined as RADIUS or TACACS+ only.
If you were using specific VSA Attributes then you need to send those attributes back configuring Authorization Profiles on the ACS 5.x. You will find the specific VSA attributes there. Refer to the following screenshots:
And here are the available attributes for the ACS for RADIUS Aironet:

After connecting the clients to start video chat using RTMFP , Can the server finish the video chat between clients regardless of clients' will ?

    Hi,
I looked on this site http://portforward.com/routers.htm
It lists many routing devices both modems and routers.
I did not see the Surfboard you listed but that does not mean it does not route (It just means it is not in the list)
Your computer is getting the IP 192.168.1.3 which means a device somewhere between you and the internet is routing.
Most likely in System Preferences > Network for the connection method you are using you can see a "Router IP" (192.168.1.1 is most likely based on the IP you get)
Type this into to your Web Browser like you would Apple.com
You should get a Pop Up.
Hopefully it will tell what device you are now trying to Log in to.
This info may help in looking in the Port Forward list.
If not check all the Motorola devices listed and then iChat in the Next page.
The third page from the Link page I gave you will detail the default access info (IP and User ID and Password) for each device you visit.
You may find that there is a common User ID and password across the various devices and this may work for you.
At Random this one says admin and motorola as the User ID and Password. (others may say different)
Don't worry about the fact it says to set a Static IP at this stage Or the Port Forwarding info further down each page.
You will hopefully be now looking at the web pages stored on the modem.
They work like any other web pages with menu items and links to other pages.
Search all the menu items and link to see if the device has UPnP
It tends to be in different places on different routing devices but try Advanced or Admin as well as anything to to do with opening ports.
A Status page like the first pic on the second link page I listed may well tell you if it has UPnP enable or not (but this is not always the case)
Tell us what you find out or if you have some other routing device in between you and the Motorola Surfboard.
