Maximized Window in JDesktopPane affects next Window

Hello,
I have a small GUI based on a JDesktopPane which has several windows in it. If I maximize a Window (Based on JInternalFrame) and proceed to the next one, it is also maximized, even if this option is set to false. Seems as JDesktopPane remebers the state of the last window and automatically adapts it to the next.
For Example I have a maximized table-view of whatever and click on a button "Export" which opens a Dialog in which I have to enter a few infos to proceed. Now everytime the table-view is maximized, the dialog is also. if the table view is not, the dialog appears in it's normal and defined size...
Do you have any Ideas on this?

ok, i create the second window from within an ActionListener of the first one. the actionlisterner of window1 performs the following actions to open and show window2:

Instead of playing a song a "add to up next" window pops up

I installed itunes 11.0.1.12 for windows and imported music files. Previously an older version of itunes was used. Now it drives me crazy. Whenever I doubleclick on a song to play it or choose play (NOT play next) in the menu, a window "add to up next" opens, stating 'You are about to start playback. Do you want to clear the 222 songs previously added to Up Next: Play song, Clear song, Cancel‘.
I want itunes to start playing a song right away without troubleing me each time with this pop-up. What can I do?
Help is highly appreciated. I am not a native speaker, so incase the problem is unclear or further information is needed I will do my best to clarify.

Problem soved, was a translation problem. I chose "Clear songs" and it is alright now. In the German version I am using the pop-up message was misleading and it looked like all songs would be deleted and not just cleared from the next up list.

Does this downloaded track play okay in iTunes? How do you know that the song is on the device?

How do I stop firefox from blocking next window unless I click on OK

Some how a while back I turned on the feature to have firefox block the next window or page to open. A message pops up "firefox preventing next page to open and at the other side of the screen there is a box that says allow" I don't know where to look to stop this feature. Not sure why I did it in the first place.

Will upgrading to Snow Leopard affect my Windows 7 boot camp partition?

Hi,
Did some preliminary searching on this before posting but couldn't find with confidence my answer. Does anybody know? Details below.

I'm running 10.5.8 on a single drive with two partitions. 1st partition for OS-x is extended (journaled), 2nd partiction (ntfs) has solid version of Windows 7 RC, build 7100 running.

here are some nice 'Myths and Facts' about Intel Macs and BootCamp http://refit.sourceforge.net/myths/
Bottom line: while not exactly needed for installing Windows on an Intel-based Mac, the BootCamp Assistant 'streamlines' the process with a nice GUI (no need for 'cryptic' Terminal commands).
Mac OSX as of now (10.5 Leopard and above) plus the uptodate firmware for Intel-Macs already include everything needed to install and boot Windows.
Deleting or reformating an OSX partition does not affect the Windows partition.
However a repartitioning of course does, if the Windows partition is on the same harddisk.
But even a repartitioning of any other harddisk (ones that not have the Windows partition on them) does not affect the Windows partition.
Did that myself when adding/upgrading the harddisks in my Mac Pro.
Nonetheless, when 'fumbling' with harddisks and partition structure I always have backups of my important files at hand.

"Move focus to next window" shortcut in full screen mode

Does anyone know how to use the "Move focus to next window" sortcut when in "full screen" mode?
When using a smaller screen (Macbook Air) full screen mode is a nice idea but I keep turning it off becauase the normal shortcut doesn't work.
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

I can't duplicate your problem with my setup. Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and see if that will help. Often a damaged or corrupted pref file will cause some very unusual performance issues with iPhoto.
Also you can try rebuilding the library while selecting just the option to rebuild the database.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

How can I quit (close) Photoshop and keep all windows so that the next time I open Photoshop all the files that I had open are there already in the same position as when I closed Photoshop?
I've been a Fireworks user for over 10 years and just switched to Photoshop. I cannot find a setting that will enable all my file windows to reopen when I quit Photoshop. This is really a problem since I often work on several files at the same time.
Please let me know if the feature exists or point me to where I can post a message for a new feature to be implemented. The feature is a must for any designer working on large projects.

There is no such functionality. You could perhaps create a script that stores that info in a custom text file and arranges them accordingly in the workspace, but that's as good as it gets...

New windows in Firefox 29 on Windows 8.1 don't open fully maximized when clicked through a link

New problem in firefox 29:
When I click a link that opens the new page in a new window, the window pops open in the last partially maximized state that it was in. Should I maximize the new window (in Windows 8.1) and close it and re-click the original link, the window opens again in the partially maximized state, not the last fully maximized state that I previously closed it in.
To create it as I've encountered it:
-go to https://news.google.com
-click on any article. the default behavior should be to open the article in a new window
-the window won't be maximized in my experience
-you can maximize the window and then close the window/ article
-re-click on the same article and the new window should appear again in the non-maximized state, not the fully maximized state that you closed it in previously
One point of note. Right-clicking the same link that opens the new window and specifically choosing "Open Link in New Window" DOES open the new window in a fully maximized state. I repeat, the new window does open fully maximized when you choose "Open Link in New Window" from the right-click drop downs menu. But, this doesn't happen with the simple left-click, which I'm concerned with.

Reverted back to version 28.0, 29 just isnt working, layout is a mess. (Ok i got the old layout back by installing and setting up Classic Theme Restorer, but once you remove the orange title bar, the screen resize bug appears.) Also its a very bad thing such a large graphical overhaul took place without prior notice. If i wanted google Chrome i would have just installed that, dont need FF to provide me with it. Might upgrade again if bugs and layout are changed, otherwise ill stay with 28.0 or maybe start using Waterfox.

When ordering on line, I click continue to get to next window and won't continue and shows a line at bottom with "true... false...true" and won't go to next window.

When I go into any website to make a purchase, when I click on continue to go to the next window, nothing happens. I wexploreron't go any further. I get a long list of numbers and letters with true false true in a banner at the bottom of screen. I have tried to click on the banner but disappears when I go to put the arrow on it.
This all started when I was on a government website, hit back arrow, and lost the site. Ever since, I have not been able to conduct any business on Firefox and have to resort to using Explorer to do my business. Explore works but not FireFox.

Why do I have a question mark in my Finder window. I have no previous or next window arrows.

My finder windows now have a question mark next to Action icon. I cannot flip between previous and next window.

The question is an orphaned alias, command-drag it off and "poof" it.
Then right click on Finder toolbar and choose "Customize toolbar" and drag the "Back" button onto it.

In the "classic layout", at the bottom of your email list, there should be a thin gray bar with a little gray dot in the center. Hover over that spot until the cursor turns into the "bar arrow" and drag it upward. You messages should appear below like the second screenshot. Alternatively, if you are using the newer version of Mac Mail, you could change your Preferences> Viewing to the "new layout".

Button State Affected by Windows XP Display Settings

I have a reference to a 3rd party class that extends JToolBar. I am trying to set one of the buttons in this
JToolBar to "pressed." I know the action class for the specific button I am looking for so I just iterate across
all the (abstract) buttons in the toolbar's button group. (See code below.) When I find the button whose
action is the one I am looking for I call setSelected() on the button.
Here is where it gets wierd.....
I am running Windows XP and, if I change the Appearance Windows and Buttons mode** to
"Windows XP" style the code works fine (the button gets depressed programatically). However,
if I change the mode to "Windows Classic" style the button no longer gets depressed.
Any ideas as to how the windows mode could be affecting my code???

You might want to check with third party who developed the toolbar extension.
I would also try a small test program using only out-of-the-box Swing JToolBar to see if you get the same result.

How many times must you download ff4? After I clicked "download 4" it did it; but the next window I got was "click here to dl ff4". How do you know?

When I went to dl FF4 on my laptop, it showed where to dl it, which I did and it completed. Then my next window showing a Firefox main page offered again "Click to Download FF4." So question, do you have to download it again or is the second dl category additional to it??????

You're running v3.6.16 at the moment. There was a security release issued which updates it to 3.6.18 and which you can download by going to Help | Check For Updates.
If you want to upgrade one step further to 4.0, then yes, you have to follow the same steps again (sorry).
Whatever you do though, it's important you update your plugins. Some of them are out of date which exposes your PC to attack. You can check to see which ones you need by going to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Check Plugins]

Does running windows on MBA affect its hardware and performance??

Specs: OS X 10.9.3, 1.4 GHz 4th gen i5, 4 GB RAM, 1600 MHz DDR3, intel HD Graphics 5000, 128 GB.
I want windows on my mac to use windows compatible apps like AutoCad, ProE etc and for games.. I'm worried about its hardware and performance after installing windows..

You can run Windows either natively using BootCamp or in virtualization using a third party program like Parallels Desktop. It won’t harm the computer to run Windows but while Apple promises really good battery life with MBA you aren’t going to get that kind of battery life with Windows, at least not with Win 7 or earlier. I couldn’t tolerate Win8 so I can’t tell you if Microsoft has done a better job with battery life management or not. Lots of my Windows using friends and colleagues refer to their MBA as the best Windows notebook they’ve ever owned but like me, they don’t use 8.
