Hi All,
I have a parameter.This calls the function
"CALL FUNCTION 'F4_FILENAME' to get the file from C drive.
After selecting the file the path is displayed in the Parameter field.
My problem is I need to extract only file name from the path.Please advice.
Example : Prameter id C:\folder\file.xls
I shd extract only file.xls from the path.Please advice.Hi,
Use the below logic:
data: begin of itab,
val type char20,
end of itab.
SPLIT l_f_path AT '\' INTO TABLE itab.
The last record of the internal table holds the file name.
describe table itab lines l_f_lines.
read itab index l_f_lines.
l_f_filaname = itab-val.
Hope this helps u. -
How to pull only column names from a SELECT query without running it
How to pull only column names from a SELECT statement without executing it? It seems there is getMetaData() in Java to pull the column names while sql is being prepared and before it gets executed. I need to get the columns whether we run the sql or not.
Maybe something like this is what you are looking for or at least will give you some ideas.
public static DataSet MaterializeDataSet(string _connectionString, string _sqlSelect, bool _returnProviderSpecificTypes, bool _includeSchema, bool _fillTable)
DataSet ds = null;
using (OracleConnection _oraconn = new OracleConnection(_connectionString))
try
_oraconn.Open();
using (OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand(_sqlSelect, _oraconn))
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
using (OracleDataAdapter da = new OracleDataAdapter(cmd))
da.ReturnProviderSpecificTypes = _returnProviderSpecificTypes;
//da.MissingSchemaAction = MissingSchemaAction.AddWithKey;
if (_includeSchema == true)
ds = new DataSet("SCHEMASUPPLIED");
da.FillSchema(ds, SchemaType.Source);
if (_fillTable == true)
da.Fill(ds.Tables[0]);
else
ds = new DataSet("SCHEMANOTSUPPLIED");
if (_fillTable == true)
da.Fill(ds);
ds.Tables[0].TableName = "Table";
}//using da
} //using cmd
catch (OracleException _oraEx)
throw (_oraEx); // Actually rethrow
catch (System.Exception _sysEx)
throw (_sysEx); // Actually rethrow
finally
if (_oraconn.State == ConnectionState.Broken || _oraconn.State == ConnectionState.Open)
_oraconn.Close();
}//using oraconn
if (ds != null)
if (ds.Tables != null && ds.Tables[0] != null)
return ds;
else
return null;
else
return null;

How to get only column names from different tables as single table columns
Hi All,
I have one requirement in which we want only column names from different tables.
for example :
I have three tables T1 ,T2, T3 having
col1 clo2 clo3 --> T1 ,
col3 col5 ,clo6 --> T2 ,
Clo6 col8 col9 --> T3
columns i want to get only all Column names from all table as single Resultset not any data from that how can i get that empty resultset
because this empty result i want to bind in datagridview(front end) as Empty resultset
Please tell me anyways to do this
Niraj SevalkarIf I understand you want an empty result set, just with metadata. SET FMTONLY do the trick:
SET FMTONLY ON
SELECT Col1, Col2, Col3, ....., Coln
FROM
T1 CROSS JOIN T2 CROSS JOIN T3
SET FMTONLY OFF
Another alternative is to include an imposible contition
SELECT Col1, Col2, Col3, ....., Coln
FROM
T1 CROSS JOIN T2 CROSS JOIN T3
WHERE 1 = 0
If you are using a SqlDataAdapter in your client application. You can use the FillSchema method. the select command may be any select statement that returns the columns you want. Under the covers FillSchema will call SET FMTONLY ON.
If you are using SqlCommand.ExecuteReader you can pass SchemaOnly to CommandBehavior argument. SET FMTONLY ON is called under the covers. Again the select command may be any select statement that returns the columns you want.

You should reset your iPhone,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
Good luck and do report back. -

Similarly, the LAST_DATE, LAST_SEC, NEXT_DAY, NEXT_SEC can be used to determine if the Job has been running successfully.
if you are on 11g, you should consider using DBMS_SCHEDULER. -

Query to identify the recovery catalog database name from target database
Hi,
How to get the recovery catalog database name from the registered target database?
i dont know my recovery catalog database for my target database.
I know we can use the query
select * from rc_database;
from recovery catalog database to know all the registered database with the recovery catalog but I want to know is there any way or query to identify the recovery catalog database name from target database to which the target database is registered
With Regards
Boobathi PYou can check the backup scripts which you use to backup your target database to get the catalog database name.
And check the corresponding connect string in TNSNAMES.ORA file or tnsping to get the server details of the catalog database.

Showing only key photo from events within an album using iphoto 11
I'm using iphoto 11 and want to show only the key photos from events in an album. I don't want to see every photo from every event in the album, I only want to view the key photos from each event in the album. When I drag the event into the album every photo from each event is shown in the album.
I do have some events in an album with only the key photo showing but can't get all the events to display this way in the album. Any suggestions?Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101. -

Views to check the catalog database name from target database.
Hi,
Please help me to find view to check the catalog database name which is connected to my target database because I am new to the current environment where I am working now and the previous DBA have done the set up having 2 catalog database. I want view to check from target database, which can show the catalog database name to which it is connected to.
We can check the catalog database name from the following ways but I want views to check it from target database.
1.TNSnames.ora
2.Any backup script connecting to catalog database.
3.From catalog database we can use rc_database view to check the databases registered with the catalog database.Please help me to find view to check the catalog database name which is connected to my target databaseYou can check for any RMAN backup jobs that been scheduled on the server.
In the scheduled script check rman command.
You can then identify the database alias (of the catalog db) that is used in the rman backup script.
Once you have found the database alias, check for the database alias entry in tnsnames.ora file present in your target database server.
Once the entry is found, you can find the IP address and catalog db name from the tns entry.

Restoring only the tablespace from the database
How do we restore only a 'tablespace' from a Terabyte database without restoring the entire database.
ie... if a particular tablespace has been dropped from the database and we have the backup available for the database.
So, how do we go about it for restoring only that tablespace.

Edited by: user13364377 on Sep 29, 2010 3:51 AMIf you have a RMAN backup before dropping the tablespace then we can restore the tablespace by below method
It is a tablespace point in time recovery ,here we need to create a auxillary DB.
Recover a table/tablespace from Rman backup on same server:
===============================================
Here we have to create the auxillary database.
1.u should have valid backup of the database before dropping the tablespace.
2.create the password file of target database.
orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME\dbs\PWDORCL2.ORA password=oracle
3.Take backup of the control file to trace for creating the new control file for new
auxillary database/
SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace;
sample control file:
STARTUP NOMOUNT
CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "aux1" RESETLOGS FORCE LOGGING ARCHIVELOG
MAXLOGFILES 16
MAXLOGMEMBERS 3
MAXDATAFILES 100
MAXINSTANCES 8
MAXLOGHISTORY 454
LOGFILE
GROUP 1 'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\aux1\REDO01.LOG' SIZE 10M,//make sure here to change the location of of redo
GROUP 2 'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\aux1\REDO02.LOG' SIZE 10M, logs to new location or change the location name before
GROUP 3 'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\aux1\REDO03.LOG' SIZE 10M //starating the database at the end.
-- STANDBY LOGFILE
DATAFILE
'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\prafulla\SYSTEM01.DBF',
'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\prafulla\UNDOTBS01.DBF',
'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\prafulla\SYSAUX01.DBF',
'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\prafulla\USERS01.DBF',
'D:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.1.0\ORADATA\prafulla\USERS02.DBF'
CHARACTER SET WE8MSWIN1252
4.create the password file of auxillary database.
orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME\dbs\PWDORCL2.ORA password=oracle
5.create the control file
sqlplus "/as sysdba"
SQL>@create.sql
6 catalog all the backuppiece to the newly created database;
catalog backuppiece 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\LOG_707656915_50P1';
7.We have to restore system,sysaux,undo and the tablespace which was dropped
run
set newname for datafile 1 to 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\aux1\system01.dbf';
set newname for datafile 2 to 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\aux1\undotbs01.dbf';
set newname for datafile 5 to 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\aux1\users02.dbf';
set newname for datafile 3 to 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\aux1\sysaux01.dbf';
set newname for datafile 4 to 'D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\oradata\aux1\users01.dbf';
restore tablespace SYSTEM;
restore tablespace UNDOTBS1;
restore tablespace users;
restore tablespace sysaux;
switch datafile all;
8.Take the other tablespace offline
sqlplus>alter tablespace tablespace_name offline drop;
9.recover the database prior to the time when tha table/tablespace was dropped.
RMAN> run{
2> set until time "to_date('07-01-2010 14:00:00','dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss')";
3> recover database;
4> }
10.open the database in resetlog mode.
take a transpotable tablespace backup of that tablespace and import it on the database where you dropped it. -
Query the column names from Public database links
Greetings,
I would like to retrieve the list of all the column names from a public database link. A regular ALL_TAB_COLUMNS doesn't seem to be working.
Thanks
John9569Hi,
I think your DBA needed to create a synonym for you to have access of that remote database view.
CREATE SYNONYM synonym_name
FOR view_name@db_link;Then you can find the column names by
DESC synonym_nameGuru's , please correct me If I am wrong.
Thanks

How does one call a class if one gets the class name from a database?
Hi,
I'm writing an application that needs to handle different types of input file.
Each type of input file will be handled by a different processing class.
I plan to use a controller class that will read from a database rows that each contain a file name and processor class name such that the class can then be used to process that file:
So on a table somewhere I might have relationships like:
file1.csv , ProcessorClassA
file2.csv , ProcessorClassB
file3.csv , ProcessorClassB
My hope is that if I need a new processor class, I will not have to change the controller class. I simply write the new class say, ProcessorClassC and put an entry in my table for:
file4.csv , ProcessorClassC
So, finally, the question...
I can read in the new class name into a string but how can I employ that class or instantiate objects of that new class and use their methods.
The rationale is that so that the controller class needs no further modifications no matter how many new processor classes are required.
Any ideas anyone?A factory class? I'm all ears... or is that another
