MBP: which is the best use of batteries if I use the Mac all the day?

Hi guys
I did this question and I've received only one answer, that the better way is to have the magsafe plugged in all day and twice a month let the batteries discharge all and may some times during the month use the battery for a few our. this has been my use of pc. any another advice? do you agree with that one I receivde?

Rechargeable lithium-based technology currently provides the best performance for your Apple notebook computer, iPod, iPhone, or iPad. You can also find this standard battery technology in many other devices. Apple batteries share the characteristics common to lithium-based technology in other devices. Like other rechargeable batteries, these batteries may eventually require replacement.
Standard Technology
Lithium-ion polymer batteries pack in a higher power density than nickel-based batteries. This gives you a longer battery life in a lighter package, as lithium is the lightest metal. You can also recharge a lithium-ion polymer battery whenever convenient, without the full charge or discharge cycle necessary to keep nickel-based batteries at peak performance. (Over time, crystals build up in nickel-based batteries and prevent you from charging them completely, necessitating an inconvenient full discharge.)
Standard Charging
Most lithium-ion polymer batteries use a fast charge to charge your device to 80% battery capacity, then switch to trickle charging. That’s about two hours of charge time to power an iPod to 80% capacity, then another two hours to fully charge it, if you are not using the iPod while charging. You can charge all lithium-ion batteries a large but finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle.
Charge Cycle. Using and recharging 100% of battery capacity equals one full charge cycle.
A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could listen to your iPod for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put notebook, iPod, and iPhone batteries through many charge cycles before they will only hold 80% of original battery capacity. As with other rechargeable batteries, you may eventually need to replace your battery.

  • Which DTW template to use to import all the open G/L Accounts 14k accounts.

    Hi Forum,
I have imported a customers nearly 14K (14,000) G/L accounts using DTW. They are all the top drawers namely, Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Revenue, Cost of Sales and Expenses. The customer uses 5 dimensions hence many accounts.
I believe some segment counts might be missing or even gone to wrong drawer due to mapping or wrong data we got.
Nevertheless I want to do this.
Import all of G/L account opening balances as of say last subperiod month say March/2011. Then I want to run trial balance and make sure they all balance.
I know how to import open balances manually for G/L accounts, but I want to know how to import it using DTW?
The question I have is - which DTW TEMPLATE do I use to import all G/L opening balances? It is not just inventory assets, but I want to import all of the opening G/L balances for all accounts including Revenues and Expenses.  Is this feasible? and a GOOD exercise to ensue all accounts are present and in right drawers?
Look forward to you expertise. Thank you.

    Hi,
14K (14,000) G/L accounts may not be good for B1. The performance of the system would be deteriorate very soon.
I still don't understand what this customer wants.
    Thanks,

Received suggestion as a result of posting question on the PVII forum, and included in the response was the suggestion that the DW CS6 automatically generates would be best changed to another, as follows:
    DW CS6 tag:  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
The preferred tag for responsive pages suggested alternative was:
    Suggested alternative:  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width">
Can both be used in some way without conflict, or which one would be best, if indeed there is a preference or desired "best practice" across the broadest spectrum of available devices being in common use?
Again, this seems applicable to iPhones, and Safari, and as I'm Mac/Safari oriented, this opened another door in responsive design of which I am absorbing; or trying to understand.
I did research the following link but remain unable to make a decision at this juncture.

The second version is considered to be preferable, although there's not much to choose between them. The important element is setting width to device-width. Without it, most smartphones will scale the page to fit into a nominal viewport approximately 960px wide.
By the way, there's nothing wrong with working on a specific operating system, but don't become blinkered by your Mac/Safari preference. It's the World Wide Web, not the Mac/Safari Web.

  • Using my Mac all pdfs result in zero byte files

I have uninstalled and reinstalled with the same result.

This sounds very alarming. Please help us understand what you are seeing as it is not typical and may even be unique. For instance,
    * are these old PDFs which used to be fine but which now are not?
    * is it new PDFs that you are making (how)?
    * how do you see that they are zero bytes?
    * what Mac OS?
    * anything else you can think of especially, other strange things starting around the same time.

  • Which effects plugs best for instrument ch strips, which for output?

As I'm reading through the manuals (yes, I actually am...) I regularly see the comment that such and such an effects plug is best for using on ouput or mastering channel strips, or that another is best for instrument channel strips, etc, that some shouldn't really be used in one or another, etc. For instance, some introduce latency that would be ok on a pre-recorded signal, but not in a performance or recording situation. Some Logic plugs are actually excluded from MainStage for this reason, meaning I wouldn't want to used them in Logic in certain circumstances. Others are deemed best for output or mastering channel strips, and not good for instrument channel strips. The info is buried, and it's important enough that it would be nice if it were all distilled in one place.
To help make sure that I (and others, no doubt) aren't accidentally instantiating the wrong plug in the wrong, place, it would be really helpful to see a list of which kind of channel strip each plug-in is designed for, "in general"**, and which ones are best used in output channel strips, which are best used in instrument channel strips, which are find for both, and which shouldn't be used in certain instances, etc.
Anybody know of a chart of list like this? Anybody know or want to share experience or knowledge on it? Thanks in advance.
(** "in general" meaning I acknowledge there are always exceptions, and ways to experiment, but for the purposes of this discussion I'm focusing on getting the big picture, basic overview with respect to best channel strip uses.)
    Thanks,
    Neil

Having used Logic for many years the only one I find I have to be really careful of is AdLimiter due to the delay it introduces... I do try not to use it at all now as I often forget I have it on the master channel when I record another part and because I typically monitor through my mixer and not through Logic, I end up with a recording that is out of time and needs to be shifted.   I tend to use other companies Limiters which seem more musical and less 'delay' prone.
Not really answering your question, but I cant rememver any other plugin in Logic that introduces this sort of delay.
    Cheers
    Ian
ps. I do belive I also read the manual many years ago - that makes two of us.

    Merry Christmas

Repartition and format the drive for a Mac:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • Which is the best channel to use - on overcrowded wireless network ?

    Hi,
I've had my Airport Express network going for just over a year with no problems, until the last month when my neighbours have all got Broadband for Christmas and now my network is very unstable and I cannot play more than 2 minutes of music until the network disconnects - I have not changed anything in months because "it just worked."
I found a nifty utility for my iMac which shows other wireless networks and the strength of the signal.
Three other networks show up, on channels 1 or 11 they all have stonger signals than me even though they are 10 Meters away through brick walls (my closest neighbours do not have wireless, so I am assuming it must be at least two houses away in either direction.)
I have changed my network to run on channel 7 and iTunes now streams properly without regular drop-outs.
Now, I am wondering, my network is set-up as "hidden" and does not show up in the network scanning utility, so logically some of my neighbours may also have "hidden" networks - how can I tell if any of them are using the same channel as me ?
Anyone got any ideas or advice ?
    Thanks

I use the 'iStumbler Spectrum widget', which shows me how much congestion there is. After identifying where the most congestion is, its simply a matter of identifying which of the channels without much congestion works best for you. There isn't really a magic formula, though trying different settings until you have a better signal to noise ratio is all I can suggest.
Also, remember that 2.4GHz phones can also cause increased noise.

  • How to check which is th best method to use in LSMw and the file

    Hi all,
    I am new to LSMW,
Can know me when i get the file , how to check the which is the Best method ( Batch input, Direct input,BAPI, IDOC)  have to use in LSMW .
How to check the input file is completely filled and how to check whether it is correct and also how to Prevalidation check has to be done fior the file before uploading.
Can you provide any documents LSMW also Apprecited.
    Regards,
    Madhavi

    Hi Madhavi,
To check Correctness & completeness of the file:
    1. The input file structure should be same as source structure what you defined whicle creating LSMW.
    2. Check the following steps to assure the field mapping is done correctly.
    a) Maintain field mapping & conversion rule
    b) Check 'Display Read data'
    c) Check ' Display Converted data''
Please note LSMW is a tool, which will simply upload the data whatever you are providing. So you need to be careful while making your file and validate it outside SAP ( before upload start)

After an update or installation, your MBP may take some time to index its files. Give it some time - but if you don't see any improvement, post here - you'll get an answer!

  • I have an iPhone in my name and my wife has an iPad in her name. We have just ordered an iMac and wondered which account we should use to get the best out of all the devices

I have an iPhone in my name and my wife has an iPad in her name. We have just ordered an iMac and wondered which account we should use to get the best out of all the devices? Can we use both accounts in iCloud?

Yes you can.  However, it is better to use one person's account most of the time for purchases in the Mac App Store and iTunes since you can share purchases, such as songs, among various devices using the SAME account.  You Cannot share purchases among different accounts, though.   So make one of your accounts the main "purchasing" account so you can share purchases.
    Hope this helps

  • Which is the best MacBook for me to buy if I want to use it for digital video editing as well as Photoshop?

All the Apple MacBooks have been upgraded.  I am looking for either a MacBook Pro or a MacBook that I can use to edit digital videos and do some Photoshop work.  Which one would you advise me to go for?  I am considering the 13”.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I recommend the 15-inch MacBook Pro if you can afford it. That's because Photoshop runs better on a dedicated graphic card, which only the 15-inch MacBook Pro includes, but it should run without any problem on a 13-inch MacBook Pro too

  • Which OS, Version, Best Setup on like-new 2008 MBP for non-HD archival DV?

    MacBook Pro 15"
    (Early 2008)
    2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo
    4GB RAM
720GB 7200rpm Hard Drive (original 360GB 5400rpm drive also available)
    OS 10.6.8
(6GB RAM possible but additional $100+ for 4GB module needed now for software upgrades)
I first and last used Final Cut Pro 2-3 in film school on a Titanium PowerBook (500MHz!) during the OS9/X transition.  Next, was an Aluminum PowerBook (1.67Ghz) but because of life changes, I did little editing other than occasionally in iMovie.  Then as an early adopter of iPhone/Pad, I rarely used my AlPB other than for back up, writing, and occasional simple editing.
Now I'm finally entering the early MacIntel age with a pristine "early 2008" MacBook Pro bought for $250 from an elderly original-owner couple who used it only at home for email and iPhoto.  Though at the end of its supported life, it's practically new with a known history of light graphics usage (no video or gaming rendering ever) delivered in the original box with original battery (only 46 cycles!), discs, manual, like-new charger, and no sign of wear.  The original internal wrapper was even saved and put back on the device!  Furthermore, because the wife was a photo enthusiast, the Apple Store swapped out her internal hard drive for a Western Digital 720GB 7200rpm drive and the husband just gave me the original 360GB drive!
I want to do several things with this "new" device.  I've done a lot of research but the world has changed since FCP 3 and the G4 processor and I'm overwhelmed with all the possibilities.  I need guidance and have always appreciated the wisdom and generosity of the gurus here. I thank you all in advance!
iCloud integration: I'd like it since I'm an iPhone/Pad user.  I could upgrade to Mountain Lion but Mavericks, under the best of conditions, is doable on my device and may give me improved CPU and battery performance.  I realize this is best left for the OSX forums.  HOWEVER...
Final Cut Pro: I want to also return to editing in FCP an unfinished documentary using primarily archival film and video converted to non-HD DV.  This may greatly impact how I set up my drives and the decision as to which OS is best.  So, this should probably be my initial decision.
Hard Drive:  First and foremost, I should probably swap the drives and place the 7200rpm drive into an enclosure (Firewire or is that stone-age?) for FCP media, correct?
OS:  With Mavericks, I must use FCPX which is beyond my current non-HD needs and will most likely strain my system resources.  However, the new simplified interface is appealing and I've read some users are running it on "early 2008" MBPs.  If an earlier OS is better suited, then which one?  And also...
FCP Version:  Which is most stable given my model?  And which is best for non-HD needs?  What about FCExpress?  I want to explore more possibilities than what's available in iMovie and would appreciate the simpler interface found in FCE and FCPX, especially since I haven't used any Final Cut since FCP 3 but will gladly embrace what's best.  I want to relearn the program and hope to continue using it for other projects.
Partitioned drive:  Finally, what about partitioning my drive, one for daily life running Mavericks or other OS, the other solely dedicated to an optimized OS/FCP for non-HD editing?  Even at 360 GB it should be doable if I keep it lean and the bulk of storage externally (I ran FCP 3 adequately on a partitioned 40GB drive back in the day).  How much space should I dedicate to an FCP partition?
Finances are tight and I'll need to upgrade Office, other apps (I know there's Rosetta in Snow Leopard but must weigh that with iCloud integration; decsions, decisions!) and probably locate an older copy of FCP on EBay or elsewhere which could be expensive.  I must wait a bit before swapping in a 4GB RAM module and possibly upgrading to an SSD.  Meanwhile, I'd like to experience this like-new MacBook Pro now, both as it was during its heyday and with what's still possible today.  It seems doable and I appreciate any and all suggestions.
Thank you all and have a great day!
    Evalyn
PS: I realize my FCP3 files are probably useless and plan to reimport everything into a new project.  And sorry for the lack of paragraph spacing.  Can't get it formatted right on the iPad!

Just to note that there is much more commonality between FCP3 and FCP7 and/or FCE than with the early version and FCP X. IMO, learning FCP X is worth the effort, but it will require some effort since it is so different than traditional NLE's. You could "get by" with FCE for many types of projects and you should be able to find a copy on eBay or Amazon  for a few hundred dollars. However, you will not be able to open a FCP project of any version with it.  Also, I don;t think I would agree that  its UI is simple; it's essentially the same as FCP.
As for partitioning, some people advise against editing from drives that have been partitioned. I use a partition on one machine and I've not had any problems, so I think it is an option.
As you can see from the replies you've received so far, you have  reasonable choices. Good luck.
