MDM and SRM installation on 1 Server??

Hi,
I have a question for a new SAP SRM implementation with MDM. Is it possible to put them both on one server or is this not recommendable? And what are the (dis)advantages?
Thanks for your replies!

  • SAP R3 and SRM Installation

    Hi
Can anybody tell me how much HDD space and RAM is required for intalling SAP R3 and SRM4.0 using MCOD?
Users will be of maximum 10.
I am looking at installing R3, SRM, XI engine.
Any other suggestions on what will be the best combination other than above are welcome...
    Regards
    Reddy

well, this depends a little on the amount of data your users are allocating in their transactions.
rough calculation: 4 GB per System for ABAP 1.5 GB per System for the database plus 1 GB for the operating system. Thats the absolut minimum.
Let Windows calculate the right size - so it may be increased during runtime if it is too small.

  • Best Practice for SUP and WSUS Installation on Same Server

    Hi Folks,
I have a question, I am in process of deploying SCCM 2012 R2... I was in process of deploying Software Update Point on SCCM with one of the existing WSUS server installed on a separate server from SCCM.
A debate has started with of the colleague who says that the using remote WSUS server is recommended by Microsoft because of the scalability security  that WSUS will be downloading the updates from Microsoft and SCCM should be working as downstream
server to fetch updates from WSUS server.
but according to my consideration it is recommended to install WSUS server on the same server where SCCM is installed... actually it is recommended to install WSUS on a site system and you can used the same SCCM server to deploy WSUS.
please advice me the best practices for deploying SCCM and WSUS ... what Microsoft says about WSUS to be installed on same SCCM server OR WSUS should be on a separate server then the SCCM server ???
    awaiting your advices ASAP :)
    Regards, Owais

    Hi Don,
thanks for the information, another quick one...
the above mentioned configuration I did is correct in terms of planning and best practices?
I agree with Jorgen, it's ok to have WSUS/SUP on the same server as your site server, or you can have WSUS/SUP on a dedicated server if you wish.
The "best practice" is whatever suits your environment, and is a supported-by-MS way of doing it.
One thing to note, is that if WSUS ever becomes "corrupt" it can be difficult to repair and sometimes it's simplest to rebuild the WSUS Windows OS. If this is on your site server, that's a big deal.
Sometimes, WSUS goes wrong (not because of ConfigMgr)..
Note that if you have a very large estate, or multiple primary site servers, you might have a CAS, and you would need a SUP on the CAS. (this is not a recommendation for a CAS, just to be aware)

  • Limitations of SRM-MDM by NOT using Windows + SQL Server

    Hi all,
our consultants told us, that there are some sort of "limitations" if we install SRM-MDM other platforms than Windows + SQL Server; as example we were told, that e. g. the upload of BMECat files is not possible.
Is that true? If yes, where can I get a full list of "platform dependent" limitations?
We don't want to go for Windows nor SQL-Server if possible at all...
    Thanx!
    Regards,
    Markus

    Hi
<u>Incase you are using SRM 6.0, then -></u>
SAP SRM 6.0 is a big step forward for SRM: SRM 6.0 is the first SAP software to rely on the new user interface technology WebDynpro and the Web Application Server, rather than the previous ITS. It is also based on the completely new business rule framework (BRF) to define approval workflows. These changes are intended to improve usability and simplify workflow administration / customization, leading to better acceptance and lower TCO for our customers. However, the move to these new technologies is also a complex change and as a result, the product has experienced delays.
With our most recent development milestone - service pack 2 in mid-July 2007 - we have made lots of progress towards completion; however, we estimated that the product was still not yet ready for Ramp-Up. As a result, we decided to release the product only in beta shipment and to a very limited set of customers (14 in total) who are being closely monitored by our development organization. Seven of these customers are actually planning to go live on the current beta shipment.
Based on the progress made so far with Service Pack 2, we feel that we should be able to start the official Ramp-Up process on December 10th, 2007 - the target ship date for Service Pack 03. By that time, we should already have 3+ live customers, so new customers starting their projects will benefit from the experiences acquired from previous implementations.
    <u>Time plan and Recommendations</u>
    1. Ideally, we recommend that new and upgrade SRM customers wait for the start of Ramp-Up for SRM 6.0 SP03 (Dec 10th, 2007) rather than starting a project with the previous release SRM 5.0. SRM 6.0 offers many benefits compared to SRM 5.0 and should be easier to use + maintain. An Online scoping questionnaire will be available from mid October in the SAP Service Marketplace as usual.
    2. The number of Beta shipment customers is strictly limited and therefore we do not intend to ship Service Pack 2 to any additional customers besides the 14 customers currently in Beta.
    3. Implementation partners can request a demo license of the current support package 2 in the partner portal. They can set up their sandbox systems and familiarize with the new technology upfront before they enter into customer projects from Dec. 10.

  • SRM and SRM-MDM: Error when ordering less than Price Base Quantity

    Hi!
    We face the following issue:
We have an item without material master in the MDM-catalog. The price is scaled, and 5.00 EUR up to 100 items, and 4.80 EUR for more than 100 items
If we order 90 items, the price is calculated to 5.00 EUR in MDM, BUT the price is displayed as 0.00 EUR per 100 items when transferred to SRM. The price is also 0.00 when transferring to SAP ERP backend.
If we order 100 items or more, the price is calculated correctly in MDM, and also transferred correctly to SRM and ERP. This also applies if we order e.g.  110 items - everyting looks correct (price for 110 is 5.28 EUR).
AND: in both cases, we can observe the price is correct in the OCI !
So, something happens in SRM if we order less than the Price Base Quantoty
    SRM5.0, SRM-MDM 2.0
Since the price is correct in the OCI we would suspect the error to be somewhere in SRM? Any ideas?

Could you please check OSS notes 1311046 and 1296024.
We found OSS note 1339905 and in the correction instructions were quite a few notes relating to a '0' price issue.

  • Installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server

    Hi,
Due to resource crunch, I would like to do new installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server where already EBS 12.1 and Database installed.
I have one server where EBS 12.1 and Database installed (Single node installation).
Now I want to create another environment for other purpose (another test env.). But I don't have another server .
So Can I start new installation of EBS 12.1 and database on the same server ?
I have enough space and memory on server.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ?
I want my first environment run fine without any prob., after installing EBS and DB on the same server.
    Please guide me.
    Regards,
    Sanjay Patel

So Can I start new installation of EBS 12.1 and database on the same server ?
I have enough space and memory on server.Yes you can as long as you have sufficient resources.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ? If you install in different ORACLE_HOMEs you should be OK.

  • Do I need Robohelp Server or Source Control? and RH installation

So, I'm still comparing authoring products and trying to filter down requirements.
I've been reading more about RH and have come across RH Server and source Control and wondering exactly if they are needed.
I'm the single author in the company, most likely publishing web help, or html help outputs for use online via our web application.
Is there any need to implement Server or source control, as far as I can see Server gives me reporting abilities and statistic reports, neither of which I really need. Is there anything else about RH Server that would be beneficial?
Also, source control, this is more needed when there are multiple writers accessing the same content at the same time so that problems dont crop up? Correct?
Also, how difficult, or time consuming is the installation process of RH on a single machine. Is it a simple program installation, or will I need to install server-side databases or anything else that could require the IT team to get involved?
    Thanks for your help.
    Nick

    Hi Nick.
You have got it pretty much spot on. RoboHelp Server is mainly only required if you want the additional reporting functionality. There are some other minor differences between RoboHelp and RoboHelp Server but that is the main one. RoboSource Control is a application to get source files safe and backed up and is designed for a multi-author environment. It adds a layer of complexity for a single author environment although you can still use it if you wish. Personally I'd just ensure you have your source on a local drive (a key requirement of RoboHelp) and backup to a network drive.
The installation of RoboHelp is painless. It is just like any other application with a wizard to guide you. It has various options that you can choose, one of which is whether to install the RoboSourceControl client.
Click here for further reading on the difference between RoboHelp Server and RoboSourceControl.

I have NW 7.3 based EP system. Can that be used for Java or Do I need to install another stand alone Java ?
    If it can be used:
    - Will it not create problems b'coz portal is on 7.3 and SRM is based on 7.02
    - are there any SRM Java specific components in this installation object or is it a plain NW 7.02 Java stack ?

  • Standalone SRM installation

    Hi,
I am trying to install a standalone SRM 5.0 SR2 IDES server with no R/3 ( SAP). I think i have downloaded the necessary softwares and while installing it is asking me to put "solution manager key". Is it nessary to install Solution Manager even for IDES setup? if yes, what the softwares should be downloaded for the basic installation.
What other things would be required to setup standalone IDES SRM 5.0 SR2 server? Can i install the SRM IDES server on the same machine with SM 4.0?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vivek

    hi ,
from srm 5.0 , solution manager  replaces business scenario configuration  guides
which are delivered with SRM shipments.
it contains IMG activities and transactions as well as documentation and refernces.
I have seen from the master guide of SRM 5.0 , use of solution manager is mandatory for SRM 5.0 , and also you have to enter Key when you install SRM Server 5.5
For more details , please see page number 15 of the master guide for SRM 5.0 which exculsivey deals with solution manager for SRM 5.0

    Hello Rajneesh,
I read that note 1152240 and tell me in which way this apply to my case, because I only see for my case... the part that say "Installing SAP systems based on SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP1 (7.01) or SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP1 SR1"  and in there is recommended to:
. Patch your runtime libraries as described in SAP note 684106 --> I already did this when I installed the ABAP system/part
. Apply the latest DBSL patch --> I did a kernel upgrade to the latest version and also the DBSL patch on ABAP system/part
So... I don't see anything related with my case... the Java part that is what I´m trying to install and now I´m with an error!

  • SRM MDM Catalog ---- SRM

    Hi,
Is there a middleware (Pi) required to connect "SRM MDM" with "SRM" ?
Can anyone explain the integration between these two.
    Points will be given
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In the SRM MDM Catalogue bundle provided from SAP, there are 2 SCA files provided along with the other components. So your basis team need to deploy those SCA files through SDM (Software Deployment Manager) in SRM Portal. The files arovided are for background connectivity of MDM+SRM and the second one is for UI(User Interface) Management. So after deploying the same, your basis team will provide you 1 url which is composite of your server name, port etc.
Paste that URL in Internet Explorer and it will route you to that UI Manager. You should have UI Manager role assigned to your user ID so that you can access the UI. By Default there is 1 user created in MDM as Master with blank password which is used to maintain the UI as it has that role assigned to it.
So when you open that link, it will ask you for server name, password of that server and later User ID of SRM repository and Password. When you login into that, it will show you the configuration done for SRM Portal. There is one button named as OCI (Open Catalogue Interface)mapping. So when you press on that, it will open the OCI mapping sheet where the MDM fields will be mapped to corresponding SRM Portal fields to view the data. By this mean only the connectivity is done for SRM MDM Scenario.
XI is required in only case when you need both the functionalities like you need to use SRM MDM and normal MDM scenario in a single repository. For eg you have one catalogue consisting several materials which are displayed as Catalogue and all the materials which are changed, should be sent to XI to send it further.
Once OCI is done, you need to maintain the webservice in SRM System for accessing the catalogues in MDM directly. For that Masks are created and assigned to that particular user id. In web Service, you need to define the URL, Server Name, Repository Name, Password, Mask etc by which you can automate the process and bifercate the users to access the catalogues related to their country or organisation.
Please let me know in case of any issues.
    Regards:
    Gaurav

Can't locate SPL/splExternal.pm" Error Occurs When Trying To Run Install .
I am using the following versions
    Oracle Weblogic Server 11g- 10.3.3
    Oracle MDM - 2.0

Please suggest me the version of weblogic in which MDM2.0 installation works fine.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Karai,
this should happen if you put your installation files in a folder named with white spaces (e.g. "c:\program files\mdm"). This is the same for JVM, JDK, Oracle home and so on. Everything should be put on folders with no white spaces on the full path name.

  • MDM 7.1 installation / system copy

    Hi,
New to MDM administration here so please help. I have a MDM 7.1 Production system running on windows and ms sql. Now i need to create a new QA system as a copy of this prod system. I am confused as to whether i should use the archive/unarchive procedure to move the repository content or shall i use the SQL backup/restore to copy the DB. I have about 8-9 small DBs in my MDM system -- around 1 GB each and I have one big DB around 200 GB that I believe has all the master data.
Shall i first copy the DBs and then do MDM installation or shall i only do a fresh install and then archive/unarchive the repositories ?? will archive/unarchive bring over all my data and configuration like connections to PI, ECC system etc ?
Also, i would like to know how to modify the connections etc in MDM to point to the correct QA systems after a system copy ?
    Thanks,
