Hi,
I have implemented MDM scenario. I face a problem while doing cleansing. I'm getting the following error.

Have you modified the Cleanser --> SampleConfig.xml like below:

so that it can filter the good and bad data from the InputData?
By seeing yourpost, I could see that the good.txt is empty...which should not be.

When we quit a web page in SRM-JAVA system, we get this issue in our production system.
We do not have this issue to our DEV and QAS system :

SRM and MDM Catalog issues

Hi
We are experiencing an unique problem.
We have SRM 4.0 with MDM 1.0 as Catalog?
One of the issues that we are facing is price for items in held shopping carts. changes whenever MDM Catalog is refreshed.
We refresh our MDM catalogs twice a week.
So when a user who has a held shopping cart changes the shopping cart
the price of existing items in the cart changes.
All help/advice on this issue is appreciated.

How do i check the if in BBP_WS_ENTITY_V update view the field OCI_VALIDATE in the record corresponding to your catalog has the value?
Note the price of the item in catalog is same ....but for some reason the one in held shopping cart changes after the catalog is refreshed.

MDM WF issue

Hi,
Please help me in answering the below Issues.
1) In process step we define the details of a user who will approve.
Which means once the control comes to process step then the user(xxx) will receive a message in the WF tab(DM)- tasks table ??
and then he will approve it by changing the status there in STATUS-Column??
Do we require a approve step after process step ?If so why?
As per my understanding if xxx approves it in WF tab @ DM then why should we use a approve step again after process step!!!
2) I need to create a WF which will evaluate whether the newly added record should be added into the table or not.
Is it possible?
i am aware that i should create a WF which triggers when a record is added.
can any one let me know what could be the steps.
Approvals should be done by 3 Users.
Once each record comes out of 3 approvals then the record will be finally added in to mdm.

Please find answers to your questions below:
1) Process step is a step in which assigned user will manually act on the record. For Approval, MDM provides a seperate step i.e. approval step.
You can change status in the status column either way i.e either by using a process step and manually updating status, or By using an assignment for automatic update in the status Field after approval step.
2.) Do we require a approve step after process step ?If so why?
It totally depends on your requirement. If you change Status of Item to Approved using a process step, then MDM will not be aware that this process step is used as an approval for record. For MDM it will be just like data update. if you use process step as approval step then You will face challenge in UWL workflow on Portal. i.e. approve and disapprove buttons will not be visible.
Also, you will not get the functionality of approval step i.e. if record is rejected then it will go back to previous step. you have to manually handle this requirement then in some other way.
3. ) As per your requirement, you can design your workflow like this:
Start Step>Notify Step>Process Step>Notify Step>Approval Step->Assignment Step>Notify Step-->Stop
Start step will trigger workflow as soon as record is added.
Notify will send email to the role/user who can check record in MDM and can enrich record like add image, pdf etc using process step.
Once this user acts on record he will forward it to next step (approval). notification will be sent to all approvers. make the execution type property of approval step as all sequential random. once approved notification will be sent to all MDM users informing that new record has been added and data will be saved in MDM.
You can make changes to this workflow as per your requirement.

MDM - XI Issue

Hi all,
I have a problems setting up XI for MDM as per SAP Config Guide:
I imported the newest CIM with XI CONTENT MDME SERVER 5.5, MDM_BUSINESS_XI, 5.5 and MDM BUSINESS CONTENT 5.5 into the sld and in the Integration Repository. However, when I want to use my MDM Business System (defined in the sld) in the Integration Builder, I do not get any MDM Interfaces (e.g. MATMAS04). Any ideas what is missing?

Hi Michael,
first of all automatic creation of channel during assignment of BS will NOT create your MDM channels. You'll need to do that manually. However if templates exist, you just create a channel, then don't select anything but navigate directly to menu "Communication Channel --> Import Template". There you'll be able to select the according template which will then fill out some fields. But still there will be fields of the channel you'll need to fill manually.
To find out what is the cause of your second problem, please navigate to the MDM Business System and doubleclick on it. Then you should see a screen with a tab Sender and a tab Receiver where all available interfaces of this system are listed. Most likely MATMAS etc are not listed there. I've checked MDM Content and MATMAS and the other IDocs are not imported to any of the MDM Software Components. So there are two options to solve the issue. Either also assign SWCV SAP APPL 4.70 to your MDM system in SLD (and make sure the according content is imported in the IR) or create your own MDM Software Component, import the IDoc Definitions there and assign this component to your system.

MDM Indexer Issue !

Hi All,
I am facing a strange issue. I have two MDM servers one is installed on my local machine (Windows Platform) and another MDM server on Client Machine (Unix Platform). When i open MDM Indexer for any of my local machine repository, Indexer is working fine ( I am able to see Index value with their Page number in Basic Format) but when i open it for Client Machine (which is on Unix Platform) Index values with page number is coming into XML format. so, i could not able to publish this XML format of index values with page number to adobe in design DTP tool.
I have alredy tried Stylesheet property under tab Index Properties, for this whatever Property i saved (None, Basic, Fancy) Format for Index Values with page Number is same i mean XML Format only. But when i open MDM Indexer for repository which is on my local machine (Windows Platform) i get XML format only when i have this Stylesheet Property None. For Basic and Fancy it is coming in the required format i mean Index value with Page number which i am able to publish on Adobe in design DTP tool.
I don't know where i am going wrong. Am i missing any other setting ? I am using MDM Version 5.5.64.97

Steps to transfer index from Indexer to InDesign with the new version:
1.     Install the provided Indexer version
2.     With a loaded repository, open the Indexer and create the desired index.
Afterwards press on the u201C!u201D button to recalculate the index.
3.     Copy the Indexer folder to a temp folder
4.     From the temp folder open the RawIndexXML folder. It holds the XML files for the indexes created. Find the last one   with the timestamp of the time you recalculate the index.
5.     Copy it and place it in the Indexer folder.
6.     Open a command shell from the machine where Indexer is installed.
     Navigate to the folder where Indexer was placed in the temp folder.
     Run the u201CIndexer u2013hu201D (might need to press enter to get the marker again)
                      Run 'indexer result.xml'
                      Navigate to the Indexer temp folder. A results.xml file was generated.
7.     Open a new document in InDesign.
Select File->Import xml
Select the generated results.xml file
A root pane of the index will show on the left.
Drag the MDM Index parent node into the document
The index will appear.
Styling may be defined as needed

Window 8.1 device mdm enrolment issue

Window 8.1 device(Laptop and Tablet) doesn't shows the option of entering enrollment server address while enrolling it through Network->Workplace Settings.
Windows Phone 8.1 doesn't have this issue.

Hi, I'm currently in charge of recruiting for experience MDM people for a Global BW programme, although I'm struggling to find the people. I've been told by a very Senior BW guy that I will struggle and the only place to find the people is within SAP AG! Is he correct? Please help!

Since MDM 3.00 is currently in ramp-up, MDM knowledge is basically spread among SAP experts (SAP consultants and consultants from the involved software partners).
Therefore, I'd recommend you touch base with your local SAP contact person.

MDM Migration issue

Hello All,
We have MDM 9.2.0 version on our Dev and Prod. - Working fine.
Now since we are going to upgrade to MDM 9.3.1(DRM), i am performing a Migration test on a new Server.
Working Environment:
SQL server 2003
MDM 9.2.0
Testing Environment
SQL server 2005
DRM 9.3.1
I have installed the DRM 9.3.1 successfully on the new environment and i can login to DRM and create hierarchy, versions etc.
This is how i did the Migration:
1. I took a backup of SQL server table(2003) of the MDM(9.2) version and restored it into the Sql Server 2005 in the new environment, the DB restore was successful.
2. I created a new DB connection in MDM console
Now when i am trying to connect - getting an error " Could not connect to database: Cannot open database "xxx" requested by the login. The login failed"
Or is there any other way to Migrate? Please let me know.

If you are migration from,
1. 9.3.X to any legacy 11.1.1.X - you can perform a schema migraion and laso you can leverage migration utility if you wish to build your mata data structures
manually, with schema migration both Metadata and System meta data will get migrated.
2. 9.3.X or 11.1.1.X to 11.1.2 ( complete web) - you need to do a repository migration, you need to be little patient as it takes more time Legacy to Web
( remember migration utilty will not work from Legacy to Web migration)
3. 11.1.2.X to any latest versions, you can use migration utility as well as schema refresh,

MDM not connecting to Oracle.

HI Everyone,
MDM 7.1 SP06 with Oralce 11g on Windows Server 2008 R2 Environment
Recently we have moved our MDM server from one location to another location (i.e) data center shift.
After this move, we were not able to connect MDM, this issue has been fixed 1 month back by changing new public in tnsnames .ora. After that it was working fine.
Just 1 week back i have restarted the (server) host after that i am not able to connect MDM to Oracle Database.
Kindly note after the restart the problem starts, that means when i entered new public IP in tnsnames.ora that time i didnt restart and just week back i restarted the server so that problem starts.
So i guess server(host) restart become a problem now, new entry in tnsnames.ora did some changes after restart in the system thats why facing this problem.
Anyone knows how i can fix this issue. i did lot of search and investigation but no use and no luck.
Even tried reconfigured the listener and tnsnames.ora but still same problem.
Error:
When i tried to mount the repository in MDM console i am getting the below error.
"Unable to connect with DataBase server"
Can anyone pls help me to fix this issue.

I have a doubt.
I didnt do any configuration changes and i did only new public IP in tnsnames.ora then i restarted the server, whats wrong in this activity.

MDM Integration with ERP system

Hello MDM Guru's.
In our system Landscape, use Baan ERP system to fetch data into MDM, cleanse it and push data to SRM/BI system for Business Requirements.
Our MDM is neither connected to any R/3 (ECC) system. we want to have a kind of Reports developed for MDM Data present in our system based on Companies (our Manufacturing sites) and have a automatic mapping of our Manufacturers , Suppliers & Customers based on Global and local Stratergy.
According to my understanding, we can use MDM API's (ABAP or Java). As MDM is not integrated with any of the ERP (ECC or Netweaver Data base)?
We have options to integrate MDM with ECC 6.0 & Netweaver system. Which could be a better option to connect with? we are planning to integrate MDM with E-Portal too, could Portal data base be used.
Please guide me.

Hi Srihari,
If you want to use MDM in you landscape and store and cleanse data in it and then sent the cleansed data to a reporting tool for analysis then you can do it in one of the methods:
- Either connect MDM to the other systems in your landscape using XI as the means of data trnasfer
- Or connect MDM to other systems using the API.
In the first method.you need to use PI/XI to manage the flow of master data to and from your MDM system to others. MDM can be used for data cleansing and enrichment within MDM before syndicating it out.
In the second method you can connect to MDM through other systems using the API.
As you mentioned about reporting on the master data in MDM based on the Companies or manufacturing sites etc.You can achieve this suing MDM ABAP API.
ABAP can be sued as a reporting tool.wherein it will connect to your MDM system through the configured API and fetch the MDM data and generate simple reports .
If you wish to access the MDM data online you can use portal front end. but in this case portal wont be capable to store any information as it is just a front end.
You will have to use MDM as a backend storage system.JAVA API can be used for futher customization on EP.

Hi Jimmy,
in the BW area, MDM makes much sense as the single master data supplier. This way, you can cleanse your BW master data, while still being able to correctly identify the master data object in BW when uploading transactional data from various systems (MDM Master Data retains information of various keys in source systems).
MDM makes most sense in combination with other (SAP) products, like BW, so a knowledge of both systems is an advantage.
As for getting started: there are learning maps for consultants. Also, the WebEx Sessions are a good place to start.
For the Content repositories, there are scenarios that include BW-integration. One scenario is about extracting from R/3, transferring via XI into MDM, cleansing and transferring (XI) into BI. There is content to be installed in each system to make this work, but it gives you a good overview of the process.

1.First of all you need to know the list of the source systems whose master data you need to maintain in MDM.You can have the source data in the form of XML, excel or MS Access etc. The first thing you need to perform is designing of the repository in the MDM console wherein you have the structure for the incoming data . Here you also need to create the users , roles , mention the remote systems from where you are extracting the data .Then Extract or import source data (e.g. Customer master data, Product master data, etc) from connected remote sytems i.e client applications.
2. Consolidate this data centrally on MDM, cleanse it.
3. Then harmonize or export the data through MDM syndicator tool. Then if there is FTP then dump all your XML data in the FTP from where SAP XI would pick the data and send it back to the different client systems from where you have fetched the data.
4. In the client applications, the received data can be complemented with local attributes.

Tutorial for managing bookmarks in iPhone environment?

I hate asking newbie questions but here goes. Searched for this but found threads regarding desktop environment.
When I open Safari on my iPhone 3CS, I see bookmarks imported from my pc when I synched. Don't need all those so deleted most. Here's the problem: if I type in a new address in Safari addres field at top, and go to that page, then do Add Bookmark, it doesn't show up the next time I open Safari and look at the bookmarks. If I start to re-type it in the address field, the full link and title appear below, so I know it's storing it somewhere.
Can someone just point me toward an online tutorial for manageing bookmarks within the iPhone environment not the desktop?

it's one of the dangers to BYOD.....The best way to manage this is education(unless you are ready for MDM).
Granted that can be a bigger pain in the buttocks than working around it.
What I tell people(having had this happen to me a couple of times) is when it's time to change your password
1.) Make sure you have all your devices with you
2.) disable the wireless on everything
3.) change password via your laptop
4.) enable one device, and go change the password there < rinse repeat for subsequent devices.
Now, when the company I was working for moved to a MDM, the issue went away on my phone and tablet, as the mail settings were controlled by the MDM, so when i changed my password, it pushed to my other devices.
