MDM Custom Iview and Standard Iview Portal Eventing

Hi
I'm trying to develop a custom iview which updates a Standard MDM Result Set iview:
I found this documentation:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/45/c87cfd43e56f75e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/12195312-0e01-0010-a392-debbd32e39d4
So i created an iview which raises this event
WDPortalEventing.fire("urn:com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.masteriviews","updateSearch","ID=115551&RefreshSearch=True");
Then i upladed my code in the portal, created a new iview and put it in the same page with a Result Set iview. During testing when i rise the event form the custom iview, the standard Result Set catch this event but instead of update it gives the following error:
Error occurred: Error performing search. com.sap.mdm.internal.protocol.manual.ServerException: Illegal value for parameter,  com.sap.mdm.internal.protocol.manual.ServerException: Illegal value for parameter (see log for details)
In SDN there is a thread with the same problem (Search Standard iView + Search Custom iView) which is not solved.
Can somebody help me ?

sorry, I have same task and tried same code for my alias, table and field.
     WDPortalEventing.fire("urn:com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.masteriviews",
               "updateSearch",
               "MDMSystemAlias=NSI_PRODUCTION_ALIAS&MDMTableName=Assets&R3Code=411000000000000006&RefreshSearch=True");
I fire event  (for my alias, table and field)
but not any resultset or Current Search on page is catching this search.
please provide which options  must be set made for views on page so that result set to be updated,
I hope this may help
does it need to add some custom event to result set?
thanks

    Hi Sandeep,
    1,  SC Header custom fields
      a. Add required custom fields to the Standard Header structures u2018INCL_EEW_PD_HEADER_CSFu2019 and u2018INCL_EEW_PD_HEADER_CSF_SC
         b.Create new entries in the view /SAPSRM/V_MDF_HC, for the Custom fields added to the standard structure.
         c.  Enhance the Context node in the WD application- u2018/SAPSRM/WDC_SC_WZ_GAF_3STu2019.
         d. Create new fields and labels in the Layout as a part of the Enhancement and bind it with the Context fields (Custom fields).
    2,_For renaming_
      Rename the "save" button on SC screens to "Hold Cart "
    3, Hide some fields in Account assignmnet

  • Standard iview and custom iview

    Hi,
    Have any one tried developing a custome MDM iview which displays the record details on click of a record in standard Result Set iview?
    There is a section in portal content development guide called "Configuring Data Exchange (Eventing)" which deals with this scenario.
    Please share your experience on the integration of Standard iview and custom iview.
    I have already gone through the sdn article on "Integrating MDM Item Details iView into a WebDynpro Application".
    Thanks and best regards,
    Arun prabhu S

    Custom Event Name - EPCFgetRecordByIds
    Any name will do here, so this is fine
    Event Type - EPCF ; Record Event
    Correct again
    Target (URL or Event Name) - getRecordByIds
    Again,... Any name will do here (this is what you will use in the wdDoInit to subscribe to)
    Namespace - urn:com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.masteriviews (?. not sure abt this)
    Though it should not cause an issue I would use something else, this might interfere with the standard iViews events (though they will probably have different event names). You should be able to just come up with your own namespace here
    Auto-Fire on Row Select - Yes
    Correct
    Parameter Format - Standard
    Correct
    Mapped Field - Record ID
    Here you select all fields you like to know the values of in the action-method of your webdynpro. Most likely this is record id or some other unique identifier of the record.
    Parameter name - ?
    Just give any parameter name. You will use this name to find that specific parameter in the string of your action method.
    I want the MDM record id of the selected record as an input.
    This is in the string if you configured the iView as above. Just print it to the screen on the action method.
    Can you please help me tell me how the record id gets passed from standard iview to custom iview?
    That should already happen by the subscribing to the event you did in the wdDoInit. Welcome to the wonderful world of eventing

  • Push MDM search results from webdynpro to portal's standard ResultSet iView

    Hi,
    I have gone thru a lot of SDN information, blogs and PDFs
    regarding the usage of EPCF, EPCM for communication between
    Webdynpro and Portal utlizing portal eventing phenomenon.
         My requirement a.k.a. predicament and grief::
    I get back mdm search results in webdynpro app, using a
    specialized search strategy to MDM repository. I need to
    ship these resuls off to the standard out-of-box
    portal's MDM ResultSet iView (which is a part of portal's
    MDM business package).
    I haven't had much success getting crisp resolution to
    satisfy my requirements. In my WD code, I know,  I need
    to put some sort of ?event-generating-2-liner-code? that
    sends my results to portal's standard iView.
    Surely, I can send just recordIDs or I can send the actual
    results. I get 5 fields per record of Material's table.
    Once the ResultSet-iView displays the search results,
    my responsibility is over. Now onwards, portal's standard
    business package will take over from there for further user
    interacitons, like accessing item details etc..etc..
    Any and all help is highly appreciated.

  • Integration of webdynpro abap custom iview into standard ESS/MSS portal

    Hello all,
    Could anybody please throw light on how to integrate custom iview which is developed in Webdynpro ABAP into standard tab in MSS (Webdynpro java)
    For example.I want to add few custom fields(which are mapped to infotype 0041) into general information link of MSS.these fields will be created in webdynpro abap.
    or.
    I want to create a new link under general information which pops up as a custom iview (which is create in webdynpro abap) .
    please let me know how can i meet the above requirements.
    Thanks in advance.

    I am not really sure about your requirement. With my limited understanding of that , i think that you have few possibilities.
    1. You can let the ess/mss application communicate with WDA application via a Poral event.
    2. You can enhance the ESS WDJ component and use RFC destination to get the data from info type and build your own view in WDJ.

  • Portal Eventing between Web DynPro Java iView and non-Web DynPro iView

    Dear Experts,
    I have 1 Web DynPro Java iView and 1 non-Web DynPro (using JSPDynPage and JSP) iView, both attached to a page. When Web DynPro Java iView fire a portal raise event, the portal iView did not execute the javascript function tied to the event subscribed.
    Here is the code snippet which reside in the Web DynPro Java iView that is used to fire the event
    String param = "test";
    WPortalEventing.fire("urn:com.company.Test1", "TestEvent", param);
    This the code snippet that is in the jsp page
    function notifyTest(param)
         // Code to print param value here
    EPCM.subscribeEvent("urn:com.company.Test1", "TestEvent", notifyTest);
    Note:
    1. When Web DynPro Java iView fire the portal event the entire page is refreshed, including the non-WDP iView.
    2. When EPCM is replaced with window.top.EPCM, the page is refreshed, it is totally hanged with progress bar.
    Can anyone help to solve this problem?

    hi
    Please write the below code snippet in ur jsp for notifyTestjavascriptfunction

  • Extending MDM ResultSet iView with custom web dynpro

    I built a MDM Result set(which is displaying fine), and a web dynpro iview to receive the events from the ResultSet and put them on to a page, added to a role and added to my userid etc.
    But when I invoke the event from the MDM ResultSet Standard iView, no data is coming from the ResultSet.
    Yes, I am aware that I need to make sure the namespace and name of the event should be same in the source and target iviews. I made sure of that.
    The event is being invoked, for sure, but no data. (Because if I didn't catch, the target iView is throwing NullpointerException for want of parameter passed by the EPCF event)
    EPCF event is reaching the target, but no data, what so ever.
    I tried with different fields(Columns) of the Resultset, but no use.
    I got a doubt. The client said, they used MDM 5.5 SP04 software for the Business Package, but MDM 5.5 SP03 MDM Connectors, and ofcourse the server itself is MDM 5.5 SP03. Does this have any influence in the problem I mentioned ?
    Another issue is the naming of the event or the namespace. Are there any guidelines for that ? I gave the name and namespace to be "ShowItemDetails" and "urn:com.oi.ecat.mdm.epcfevent". Are these OK ?
    Thank you very much for your help,
    Prasad Nutalapati

    Hi Narendra/Sidharth,
    I have been referring the same blog below of Vinay for developing the WDJ application:
    Importing Records from MDM BP ResultSet iView to Excel:--https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/504814b6-da5f-2b10-0dbd-e5ee597c74a5
    I have created an event in the ResultSet iview with the details below :
    Event Name = "Export"
    nameSpace = "urn:com.sap.tc.webdynpro.exporttocsv"
    Parameter is of type [MDM Search] and the value is "value"
    And in the Web Dynpro app,following is the code
    public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
        String nameSpace = "urn:com.sap.tc.webdynpro.exporttocsv";
        String event = "Export";
        WDPortalEventing.subscribe(nameSpace,event,wdThis.wdGetExportAction());
        //@@end
    In the Event handler below,Currently I have removed the rest of code to fetch result from MDM ,I am just trying to access the Search object (i.e string value) and I am getting the value as null.
    Can you please tell me what is going wrong....
    public void onActionExport(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent, java.lang.String value )
        //@@begin onActionExport(ServerEvent)
        wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("The search object:"+value);
        //@@end

  • How to give BSP Iview look and feel of portal??

    Hi All,
    I've created a BSP application that I use to create an Iview for portal.
    I thought that if i used htmlb tags that the look and feel of portal would be automatic to my app but its not.
    I've tried assigning portal css classes to a html table but there's no effect.
    I've previewed one of the standard ivews and viewed the source and found the path of the css file.  But when i looked for it on the server, while the out folder was there (com.sap.portal.design.portaldesigndata) , there was no css files in this folder.
    So i'm at a loss.  In summary, how do i get my bsp app to have the portal look and feel?????  I would prefer to use the css files so that if any changes are made to the standard, the changes will be reflected in my custom iviews too.
    Any help, would be most welcome,
    Liz.

    Hi Liz,
    on the properties tab for the BSP application try selecting the "Supports Portal Integration" checkbox.
    Cheers

  • Light framework and custom iViews

    Does anyone know why the "heavy" framework is used on custom iViews?  We have developed several custom iViews and when we tested them in the light framework, they always pull down the "heavy" framework Javascript.  I created a very simple Hello World iView without HTMLB and without a sharing reference to HTMLB and yet, when it is displayed, all of the heavy framework Javascript gets pulled in?

    Hi Timothy,
    Generally custom iviews are built using portal components which use HTMLB or using webdynpro.If this is the case, then the htmlb js and css files will be loaded, and these files are massive.
    Also using KM iviews will results in making the framework "heavy".
    As rightly pointed out above you should make sure that all the components in your page are having an EPCF level 0(This level generates no JavaScript or Java applet framework functions)
    Check the following <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ce/3e98408d953154e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">link</a> for info on Enterprise Portal Client Framework(EPCF) which is basically used for client side eventing.
    You could use some tracing/logging software like HTTP Watch or Webscarab to see what content is actually causing this high network load. Also check if all content is delivered with caching directives so that they will not be reloaded on every subsequent request.
    P.S:Reward points if useful.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

  • Reg: Custom Page Layouts and Custom iView Templates

    Dear Gurus,
    Can you please guide me with the Business Scenarios on when will we be creating Custom page layout?
    Any links which helps is creating them.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pramod

    Hi Pramod,
    The only purpose of a page layout is to layout the iviews in a page according to your needs. It could be for WPC or regular portal pages as well. For this I can't think of any other business scenario.
    However, a template in general is like a blue print.
    You can create an iview template, layout template or a page template by setting the property "Is a Template" to YES for any iview, layout or page.
    So, in general:
    If the standard delivered components do not serve our purposes. we create custom components and deploy them onto portal as .par applications.
    Then from the .par deployed onto the portal,
    1. We can directly create an iview (or) create an iview template first and then create iviews using the template.
    2. We can directly create a layout (or) create a layout template first and then create layouts using the template.
    If you create something (iview/page/layout) as a template, then it could be used as a blue print to create similar objects in the future.
    Templates are generally created for ease of use and to maintain standards in the future.
    Thanks,
    Shanti

  • Replace standard area with custom iview

    Hi experts!!
    I have the following question: can i replace a standard portal area with a custom iview??
    If yes how can this be done??
    I am a newbiew..any help would be really appreciated..
    Thank u in advance!!!

    Grigoria,
    are you talking about Portal Content area.
    once you create the iview ,go to content Provided by SAP-End User Content-Standard Portal Users- open Default Framework Page-Open Desktop InnerPage-you will find Content Area-you can add your custom iview there and uncheck visible property to standard one.
    I suggest you to create a copy of Default Framework page and work on that

  • Portal eventing between Java WD iview to ABAP WD iview?

    HI Experts ,
    I have requirement on which,
    The manager can select an employee from the EE Search iView (Object and Data Provider). All other iViews react on the selection and display data of the selected employee. Technically the personnel number is transferred from the search iView to the other iViews on the portal page, also to the related activity iView. This mechanism is called Eventing. The applications, started via the related activity iView, are launched with the personnel number as parameter. With other words the application, e.g. Manage Objects on Loan, can be directly started for the employee selected from the EE Search iView.
    The Employee Information page is based on WD Java whereas the Objects on Loan application described in this specification is based on WD ABAP...........Due to different technologies used how to do the Pernr number transfer between these iviews?
    If anybody have done this let me know the steps
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi Dharani,
    You can use portal events to enable iViews running on the same page to communicate with each other. You just have to find out which event is fired by the WD Java iView and then you will have to register and handle the event in your WD ABAP application : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/f6/7d6f4151dc5758e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    You can use HttpFox (firefox plug-in) to find the details of the fired event (name, namespace...) by looking at the eventQueue parameter in the HTTP POST request.

  • Drag and Drop a Portal iView in WPC

    I would like to drag and drop a portal iView into a container in the Page Editor.
    In a container that allow resource type portal iview, I clicked on the "pencil logo" and click on Add. A "Web Content Browser" is invoked. It there, the portal iView is not found as these iViews are sitting in the Portal Content directory.
    Just wondering how do we go about in "drag & drop" a portal iview from this editor.
    Thanks

    Procedure
    3. In the Portal Content Directory (PCD), create a folder for iViews that Web content managers can use on Web pages.
    a. Choose Content Administration u2192 Portal Content and create a folder under Portal Content, for example WebPageiViews.
    b. Create permitted iViews in this PCD folder (for example, as delta links).
    c. Choose System Administration u2192 Permissions and navigate to the folder you created in step a.
    d. In this PCD folder, give the everyone group Read permission, for example, and activate the End User indicator.
    4. Show the PCD repository in the KM configuration.
    a. Choose System Administration u2192 System Configuration u2192 Knowledge Management u2192 Content Management.
    b. Choose Repository Managers u2192 Show Advanced Options u2192 PCD Repository.
    c. Deactivate the Hide in Root Folder checkbox.
    d. Restart the servlet engine.
    5. Create an entry point for the folder that you created in step 1d (for example, /wpccontent/iViews).
    See next instead of "Step 1d"...
    Procedure
    1. Choose System Administration u2192 System Configuration u2192 Knowledge Management u2192 Content Management u2192 User Interface u2192 Mapping u2192 Component.
    2. Edit the wpcDragExplorerEntryPoints configuration object.
    Use the following parameters:
    Web Content Browser Parameters
    Parameter                    Description
    displaymode                Specify select
    maxproviderprio            Highest priority number that standard entry points can have and still be displayed in the Web content browser
    entriesperrow               Number of entry points displayed in each row (default: 5)
    entrypointsprefix
    Prefix of the entry point repository If you specify a value for this parameter, standard KM entry points are also displayed in the Web content browser.  Default: /entrypoints
    sharedcontent               Semicolon-separated list of paths to be displayed as global entry points for shared content
    Examples of parameter values:
    displaymode=select,maxproviderprio=30,entriesperrow=5,entrypointsprefix=/entrypoints,sharedcontent=/wpccontent/Cross-Site Content;/documents/MyFolder

  • Portal Eventing: communication betn BSP - WD iView

    Hi All,
    i am doing portal eventing between WD Abap iView and BSP iView with the help of blog <a href="/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/12/15/portal-eventing-a-solution-for-global-peace-and-harmony:///people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/12/15/portal-eventing-a-solution-for-global-peace-and-harmony.
    i have created page which has both iViews.
    but i am not able to trigger the event from BSP to WD.
    please suggest me some direction regarding this.
    Regards,
    Chandra

    Hi,
    the domain is the first part in your URL, for example www.sdn.sap.com.
    In your case it will probably the hostname of your computer.
    The reason for this is security. The portal eventing is build in Javascript and in Javascript it is not allowed to access other frames that are not in the same domain.

    Edited by: CloudSOmnislash on Apr 8, 2009 6:06 PM

    Kumar, Rui,
    I have all my code inside a web dynpro component. All that I have in dynpro to work with (or that's what I know so far) is a WDPortalEventing object that I can use to access the fire, subscribeEvent and unsubscribeEvent methods. I still haven't found a way to get to the actual EPCM object that the Portal runtime gives you through javascript. And even if I get there, how am I supposed to write javascript in my dynpro code and later pass the value stored in the client data bag to the web dynpro context ?
    Simon,
    I had tried a small app yesterday and it didn't work when the iViews were not assigned to the same page. I will see if I can change my code anymore and get it working. I will make fresh posts to this thread as and when I find anything that works. In the mean time, if you have webdynpro iViews that talk to each other across pages, do let me know how you are doing it!
    Thanks for your replies...
