Integration of webdynpro abap custom iview into standard ESS/MSS portal

Hello all,
Could anybody please throw light on how to integrate custom iview which is developed in Webdynpro ABAP into standard tab in MSS (Webdynpro java)
For example.I want to add few custom fields(which are mapped to infotype 0041) into general information link of MSS.these fields will be created in webdynpro abap.
or.
I want to create a new link under general information which pops up as a custom iview (which is create in webdynpro abap) .
please let me know how can i meet the above requirements.

I am not really sure about your requirement. With my limited understanding of that , i think that you have few possibilities.
1. You can let the ess/mss application communicate with WDA application via a Poral event.
2. You can enhance the ESS WDJ component and use RFC destination to get the data from info type and build your own view in WDJ.

I'm trying to develop a custom iview which updates a Standard MDM Result Set iview:

So i created an iview which raises this event
WDPortalEventing.fire("urn:com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.masteriviews","updateSearch","ID=115551&RefreshSearch=True");
Then i upladed my code in the portal, created a new iview and put it in the same page with a Result Set iview. During testing when i rise the event form the custom iview, the standard Result Set catch this event but instead of update it gives the following error:
Error occurred: Error performing search. com.sap.mdm.internal.protocol.manual.ServerException: Illegal value for parameter, com.sap.mdm.internal.protocol.manual.ServerException: Illegal value for parameter (see log for details)
In SDN there is a thread with the same problem (Search Standard iView + Search Custom iView) which is not solved.
Can somebody help me ?

sorry, I have same task and tried same code for my alias, table and field.

I fire event (for my alias, table and field)
but not any resultset or Current Search on page is catching this search.
please provide which options must be set made for views on page so that result set to be updated,

SAP Portal Custom Themes to change ESS/MSS UI Look and feel , possible ?

Hi,
I have a requirement where the look and feel of the UI controls of the ESS/MSS applications have to be different - Jazzy
I know XSS homepage framework is for the customisation of Areas, Sub Areas. What I am more interested is only the look and feel UI of ESS/MSS applications.
If I change the standard theme of portal using Theme Editor and create a new custom theme with different back ground colors, fonts, sizes for all the UI controls,.Will the customised Theme apply on the standard ESS / MSS screens ? Also my doubt is we are using EHP3 and I am not sure how many are Webdynpro java based or webdynpro Abap based.
Will the theme apply to both WDA and WDJ application UI controls?
Any inputs in this regard will be of great help. thanks in advance.

Hi Gurus,
I have requirement where in which set up is ready ESS/MSS business packges are available in NWDI now my question is......
How to do the modification in certain ESS/MSS standard iviews? using your local machine NWDS?
How will you download the ESS/MSS iviews that are available in NWDS?
My EP server version is EP 7.0 and backend ecc5.0......
Can you guys tell me how to do the changes in standard ESS/MSS stuff that are avaiable in NWDI using your local machine NWDS.
once the changes is done how you will upload the same into NWDI to reflect the changes globally.
Its an urgent requirement....Please provide me step by step approach of the same.

For your 1st Question:

1.After you configured your track for ESS/MSS business package in NWDI try importing the track in NWDI by configuring NWDI server in NWDS, goto Windowsàpreferences-Java Development Infrastructure-Development Configuration
and specify the URL where you have configured your NWDI
2. create a project for the views which you want to modify.
3. Checkout and create a new activity for the DC
4. Make the changes as per your requirement
5. Checkin the activty once you are done with the changes
6.Activate and release
These are all the steps involved in customization of any business package.

How To hide buttons in standard ESS /MSS applications .

I have implemented standard ESS/MSS business package version mySAP2005 in ECC 6.0. Now in a standard iView buttons like Edit ,Previous ,etc are present . Now how can I hide these buttons ,say Edit button from iview level ?Now since this is Client Requirement .
My main problem is I do not have adequate time to customize the standard applications through coding .Is there any other way to do it ?Thanks in advance for any solution provided quickly as goalive is near .

I down load the packages to my NWDS from NWDI.But after down load,I am getting this error."The type AbstractStringBuilder is not visible".

Change in Webdynpro ABAP(FITE_EXPENSES) iView standard code in Portal.

We are on EP 7.0 with ESS 1.2 and MSS 1.0. In Backend R/3, we have applied EHP2 for Webdynpro ABAP screens. In travel & expenses -> Create Expense report we have a requirement where we need to put our logic for calculation of receipt amount based on no of travel days.
for E.G. For a particular Expense type the amount per day is 100. While creating expense (Enter Receipts portion) user selects this expense type and based on no of days the receipt amount should get changed. For 4 days the amount would be 100 * 4 = 400. We need to code this logic in the standard Webdynpro Abap iView for Create Expense Report(FITE_EXPENSES).
Can I get some pointers for this change.

Your requirement can be fulfilled easily. Have you tried hiding a button or a field or label in simple iView same is the case in your FITE_EXPENSES hiding scanned receipts button. What you can do is attach a super user to a HR user having a pending expense report to be created. Through content administrator you can preview mytrips and expenses iview in that go and click on create in tab ALL MY TRAVLE REQUESTS for expense report then on scanned receipts button right click -> user settings -> hide button.

Kiran is right, you have certain approaches for personalization/customizing a WD4A. In the link he pointed you to, there already are two of three: End user Personalization and administrative Personalization (sap-confiq-mode=x). However, I advise you to use the way of component and application configuration as these are valid system-wide. Administrative Personalization only is valid client-wide.

UWL Integration with Webdynpro ABAP

Hello,
I am creating a Webdynpro ABAP Application in which I want to create a screen(form) with various Input fields which will be entered by the user and it will have a Submit button.
On the click of the Submit button I want to trigger a Workflow and send a workitem to the Approver. The Approver will be determined by the creator by selecting from a DropDown which will have the list of all the Approvers. How can I integrate this with UWL so that the Approver can logon to the Portal to Approve /Reject the workitem.

you need to create the task entry in uwl xml file for your workflow task to call for an application.
you can check performance management worklfow ws12300122 that has task 12300110.

Custom Macro into standard Web ADI Integrator

I have done the below customization for "Journal Upload" integrator.
I have added a new option "Attachments" to the Oracle Tab using the below custom macro code.
And it is opening a custom OA Framework page(It will ask for a login) and I can add attachments.

Yes, even I have done few customization in the JE template. The macro which I created works after downloading template.
What I want to do is to customize the code with in oracle application or with in JE template, so that whenever anyone downloading journal from apps, the customize template as per my requirement will show up. I do not have to save it and tun my macro on top it. This way 2 steps can be reduced in to 1 and this will be more reliable and user friendly.
Please let us know if this is possible.

ECCS : custom characteristics into standard report selection screen

I have added a custom characteristic which is also a subasignment to the EC-CS module.
This field now appears into the standard report selection screen as expected.
I want to define this field as a mandatory selection field, do you know if this is possible? (exemple of standard report CX34A)

Adding a Webdynpro Abap custom application to the list HCM F&P List

On my Portal's HR Admin tab i have a link Start process to start all my HCMF&P Processes. Is there any way i can add my custom web dynpro application to this list. So that using the same link the HR Can proces any Adobe Form or a custom web dynpro application ?
Can i add my custom webdypro application to the table T5ASRPROC or V_T5ASRPROCVALID ?

Ran into similar issue with another Adobe form.
But this time no matter how many times I add "$record." instaed of "$."in the binding ($.WERKS.DATA[*].field), it disappears. And now none of the dropdowns are working in another Adobe form.
Does ALC 8.2 have to do something with it?
Now if the binding shows "$.WERKS.DATA[*].field", how should I specify the list items . It needs three inputs.
Binding = same as "$.WERKS.DATA[].field" ? or $.WERKS.DATA[] or $.WERKS
and since the field catalogue and actual list items are attached at runtime how do I specify other two inputs "Text" and "Key".

Can we user custom subtype 9001 in 0105 to access ESS&MSS portal?

Hi,
I know by default the standard function modules of ESS will look for a user id in 0105 with subtype 0001. But 0001 has been used by some other portal pointing the same back end. we cannot use the same user id for ESS.
For ESS, can we use custom subtype for the user ids? Is there any configuration to handle this scenario? How do we link the new portal should validate the user ids in custom subtype.

Of course you can have custom subtypes for 0105 but the issue in your case always in all programmes0105 0001 subtype
is checked so i would recommend not to substitute 0001 with 9001 instead use 9001 for some other purposes
it will be easier.
