MDM over Web service

Hello Everybody,
I am new in MDM. and like to know if is possible do change data from xi over web service in MDM.
I am using MDM SP4 , mySAP2005 and like to import data(Matmas) from XI to MDM. but MDM and MySAP2005 are not connected, could you give me input !
which possibility gives to import master data from mySAP2005 over XI to MDM in this case ?

have a look at the configuration and IT scenario guide in our <a href="http://service.sap.com/installmdm">MDM Documentation Center</a>. both documents give you a hint how.to setup MDM and ERP together with XI. In fact everything you'll need delivered as a standard.

MDM SP4 Web Services Not able to Connect

I am trying to use standard MDM SP4 webservice.
I deployed MDM_WEB_SERVICES_550.sca and also did required setting in visual composer as mentioned in the follwing blog.

But,When I am testing <b>mdmsearch</b> webservice with correct repository,port,mdm server details with other required parametes as mentioned in the blog. I am getting the follwing error.
Problem while connecting to MDM repository "MyRep" on server "myserver" at port "2311". Maybe the Repository-Information has not been set correctly at the requested query!
To confirm the connection parameters,I wrote sample java program using mdm java api and run from the was server and i am able to connect to the same.
Is there other sca files need to be deployed on WAS to work with sp4 standard web services.

Yes..I changed the properties file in VC as mentioned in the blog. (I also mailed u the vc screen shot)
I also added read_only user in mdm respective repository.
But,not able to get resultset from mdmsearch webservice.

Receive asynchronous message from JMS topic over web service

Hi,
I have a JMS topic and I want to expose it as a web service so that clients can
make durable subcription to the topic and receive messages asynchronously. What
is the best way of doing this ? Is there a portable (to other containers) way
of do this ? If not, is there a web logic specific way of doing this ?

So you expect clients to be receiving SOAP messages over HTTP? In this
case, the clients are really servers that are capable of servicing SOAP
requests, correct? And how about the senders: are they also using
SOAP/HTTP to send messages that are delivered to the receivers?
It should be possible to write this yourself using JMS not as the
transport, but as a mechanism for distributing the message to a set of
clients. You'll need to implement a Web Service for publishing to a
topic, an operation for registering an end point to recieve messages,
and an MDB (or other form of JMS subscriber) executing on the server to
relay the message to the end point.

Sending Vectors Over Web Services?

Can you transfer a Vector over WebLogic web services? I have been able to transfer
an array of JavaBeans, but not a vector.

The WLS web services documentation mentions the types you can exchange using RPC
style web services. They are
Java primitives
Java primitive wrappers
Java bean instances (nested beans as well)
Arrays of the above except prmitive wrappers
Document, Element and DocumentFragment
This means you can't exchange vectors or collection. This may be for supporting
inter-operabibility with other SOAP toolkit providers.

Problem in passing/returning objects over dynamic web service call

Hi Friends,
I am beginner in java web service.
Here is the problem I am facing when I pass/return user defined objects to remote web service method using dynamic we service call.
The client can call the remote web service method in 2 ways.
1. By generating client stubs using WSDL file
- In this case, I am able to pass/return the user defined objects to remote method without any issue only when the server side web services are deployed in any server(jboss)
- But in java 1.6 & above, the web services can be deployed without server using endpoint. In this case, I am not able to pass/return objects over web service calls.
2. Without generating client stubs (dynamic web service call)
- This will establish a connection at run time using the given WSDL file (I have attached the document). I have to form an XML(This will contain API name, arguments) string as input at run time
- In this case, it allows only string as argument while passing & returning.
Please let me know if you can help me on this.

Can MDM web service search results be filtered by tuple values?

We are currently working with MDM 7.1 SP03 and Netweaver 7.0. Right now, there is a requirement to return a material record from MDM to a Web Dynpro form using the MDM search web service. The other requirement is that the form user can search for a material using material number, sales org and dist channel. Currently, the results include all sales org/dist channel combinations in the material record. Is there a way to filter the results so that only the specified sales org and dist channel are returned to the form by using the web service? For example, if a material record has 2 sales orgs with different dist channels and the user is only interested in one, is it possible for the web service to return the material record and only the one sales org? Or, does this need to be handled by the form? Thanks for any input.

currently there is no filter functionality in MDM Web services 7.1 for tuple values or qualified
lookup values.
For the next MDM release we are planning to have a new operation for retrieving multi tuple
values as standalone operation, by which the user will be able to filter the
tuple values by member field's criteria.

Can MDM Web Services pull rich content?

Is it possible to pull images, PDF's and other rich content out of MDM using web services? We are attempting to find the best method to front the information from our MDM repository to a Ecommerce website. This is a non-sap website built on .NET 4.0 framework so .NET API's did not work since SAP only supports .NET 3.5.
What options should we consider to retrieve our catalog data to an external site?

Hi Klimek,
I don't think current MDM web service support rich content retrieval, you have to use kinds of API to implement this function. Considering the fact your .NET framework doesn't work, you can try to encapusulate this part of function into the web service by using JAVA API, and deploy the customized web service onto the relevant server.
I'm not sure whether we could retrieve the binary data from database level, anyway you can take a try.

Update key mapping via web service

Hi ,
I have a question about edit key mapping. The problem is that we create vendors in MDM and syndicate them to different ERP systems. To decide which system a new vendor/changes must be send to, I need the Edit Key Mapping, but the users do not want to enter this information manually and I do not see how I can create key mapping automatically.
We are working on a new solution where vendors are entered in sharepoint and updated in MDM via web services. I would like to know if one of you know if key mapping can be maintained via a web service.

Database transaction management in Web services

Hi,
I am using Oracle8i and firing some database queries from my web services. I want to do the transaction management for the same i.e. When one of the queries fail, i want to rollback. But when i write my own transaction management, it gives me an error :
java.sql.SQLException: Cannot call Connection.commit in distributed transaction.Transaction Manager will commit the resource manager when the distributed transaction is committed.
Can anyone please help me out as to how to perform the database transaction management in web services.

Unfortunately to manage transactions over web services there is no viable solution available in market. All implementations come with restrictions e.g. Metro works with only EJBs on Glassfish, JBossTS works on JBoss but not with JAX-WS, Atomikos supports only Axis as of now.

GTC Connector using SPML Format Provider and Web Services Transport Provide

Hello All,
Did any body create a GTC connector which uses SPML Format for Format Provider and Web Services format for Transport Provider?
Is there any doc which talks about the same?
I need to provision to a system over web services and I thought GTC using the above formats should be an easy approach. Am I right?

SPML Response failed V2 schema validation
Th eoracle document says :Ensure that the SPML response returned by the target system conforms to the SPML V2 standard specification
Please help me with the same. What is it that needs to be done here.

How to generate web services for MDM Taxanomy Tables?

Hi Experts,
I have a Taxonomy table called eClass in material repository which contains the Hierarchical data. The data[Attributes of this table ] can be seen only in Taxonomy Mode, I want to generate the web service using MDM Web Service Generator. The service should perform the CRUD operation over this table and retrieve the attributes. I generated the service for this table but I am not able to retrieve the attributes. Please help me out for this situations. Any pointers regarding this will be appreciated.

MDM Session Exception While Creating Web Services

Hi,
It looks like when you are running webservice it is not able to find some reference classes you might have missed to include one or more jar files while deploying the web service on server thats might be the reason as when you are running Java class it is working fine.
please follow below process and check if anything is missing.
Right click on project -> Properties -> Java Build Path
at this place you can see the reference projects and jar files in different tabs
go to tab Order & Export and see if the desired jar file is selected or not if not select it and deploy the application again.

This exception only occurs when hitting the web service through the bus. I have written a standalone Java application that posts to the web service and it works fine. I ran the application on the server where the ALSB is running using the same jdk (1.5.0_06 - the version that ships with 9.2.1) and the same cacerts file so I know it's not a problem with the certificate not being trusted. I have tried updating the cacerts file to the latest one distributed with JRE 1.6 and it still doesn't work.
After 8 hours of troubleshooting, I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestiosn?

Are you sure that your standalone application is using the same keystore (eg. cacert)? Default WebLogic configuration uses different keystore (demo).
I saw BAD_CERTIFICATE error only once and the cause was in keytool that somehow corrupted certificate during import. Deleting and importing certificate again helped me, but I doubt you have the same problem as your standalone application works.
Another idea ... Is hostname varification used? I know that the error message would look different if this was the cause, but try to add this parameter to your weblogic startup script: -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
Last but not least, there is difference between your standalone application and ALSB runtime as WebLogic uses Certicom SSL provider. If you don't find the reason, contact Oracle support. Maybe they can help you to tweak Certicom provider in some way.
