Me: Siri, call my wife. Siri: I don't see name of wife in your address book.

I say, Siri, call my wife, my dad, my brother. Siri takes the message, understands what it means, and tells me she doesn't "see" the person, using the proper, full name to do so - so obviously she sees them!
What to do?

Check Settings>General>Siri>My Info to be sure you have selected the right contacts. Then check the contact to see if the relationships are set up correctly. If they aren't you can either have Siri do it "My wife is ___, by dad is ___, etc.), or you can do it manually by opening your contact, tap Edit, scroll to the bottom and tap Add Field, tap Related People, tap the relationship name to the left and select the proper relationship from the list, then tap the blue arrow to the right and choose the contact for this relationship; repeat to add other relationships.

Even in the to do's you could easily look back at the events tied to an individual so as to bring yourself up to speed with what you were doing with the individual in mind.

Installed Firefox on other Windows laptop, but don't see a way to get your Calendar program (with the Ribbon) installed or downloaded.

My IBM laptop was stolen yesterday and I am trying to recover on a Dell laptop.
Mozilla Firefox is installed, but how do I get your Calendar program showing up under Tools, like it did on my first laptop?

I don't think it was a Google Calendar program. It came some time (years) ago with Mozilla Firefox. Its name may have included "Reminders". Originally, the icon of a ribbon showed up on the top of the browser, like next to "Help". You clicked on it there you got the Calendar. A few months ago, the ribbon icon disappeared and you had to click on "Tools" and that program showed up in about the 4th position. I think the data was stored on the Web, and therefore I was hoping to recover it.
Sorry, I don't know what Thunderbird is or Lightning.

Siri not finding relations in address book

I have today purchased the new iPhone4S 64GB because I think Siri is very usefull.
I have assigned relationships to people by talking to Siri such as "Emma Davies is my sister" successfully. However when I ask Siri to "Call my sister" it translates the relationship to the name but then says "I don't see 'Emma Davies' in your address book."
I have tried with other relations, restarted the phone, and re-set the phone to no avail so far. It's not stopping my usage nor dose it anoy me that it isn't working. I'm just posting this information incase anyone else is experiancing the same problem and/or maybe has a fix.

Yup, me too. This started out as a custom group I'd created, then later wanted to delete ... I can't find it in Address Book, yet it's still showing up when I sync my iPhone with iTunes.

Distribution lists in Address Book don't stay set

I have several groups I e-mail regularly and many of the people on the lists have multiple e-mail addresses. I know to go to Edit Distribution List to select which one I want that group message to be sent to, but the selections don't seem to stay selected for that list...is there some way of saving the selections for a distribution list that I am missing? Am not sure whether the people with multiple addresses are just not getting the messages when they aren't selected or whether the message is going to all their e-mail addresses, neither of which is desirable.

Talked with AppleCare yesterday and was informed that this behavior is "normal"--whenever you close Address Book, it "forgets" the Distribution List choices you made. Apparently the only way to have someone in your Address book with different e-mail addresses that you use for different group mailings on a regular basis (in my case, folks on both the Chamber of Commerce list with their business e-mail and the Arts Alert list with their home e-mail), is to create duplicate cards for those individuals. One more aggravation in my efforts to be a good neighbor/volunteer who distributes useful information to others for free. If anyone knows another way to accomplish this, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.

Contacts in my Address Book on my iMac don't sync with iPhone

I'm a real newbie to my iPhone 4S, so I'm sure this is something that should be really obvious to fix. Searching for an answer has not helped.
I have an Exchange account in Mail and all the contacts in that account show up as Contacts on my phone. However, those are the only Contacts the phone has. None of the Contacts in my Address Book on my iMac were copied over to the iPhone when I sync. What do I need to do that make that happen?

Depending on how your Address Book is organised it may be relatively simple or not, but basically you need to drag the contacts you want to move to On My Mac to your desktop, delete them from Address Book and add them back (double click on the file on your desktop) once you have selected All On My Mac from the groups list.
If you don't have an All On My Mac group, you'll need to go to preferences > general and make set your default account to On My Mac.
You can drag more than one contact at a time so if you have them in groups already it will help, if not you can work through the list of contacts using cmd click to select just the one's you want.
You can turn off the sync with Google and Yahoo from preferences > accounts > On My Mac.
Summary:
Select all the contacts you want to move
Drag them to the desktop
Delete from Address Book
Set default account to On My Mac
Select All On My Mac from groups
Double click the file on your desktop

Address book issues - duplicates - accounts don't match

I have found duplicates entries for some of my address book entries, but not all.
As previously discussed in these forums, this turned out to be duplicates between the "On my Mac" and "iCloud" accounts. So I can deal with that.
However, upon looking at entries between these 2 accounts, I noticed that I have some entries in each account that are not present in the other account.
Here is a "made up" example to illustrate:
On My Mac
Johnny Appleseed
Jim Cogsworth
Bob Jones
Jason Smith
iCloud
Johnny Appleseed
Robert Blabla
Bob Jones
Amy Thomas
So from this example, I have:
2 contacts in both accounts: Johnny Appleseed & Bob Jones
2 contacts only "on my mac": Jim Cogsworth, Jason Smith
2 contact only in "iCloud": Robert Blabla, Amy Thomas
This is what I have found on my Mac, only it is far bigger than just a couple of contacts.
Is there any way to get the accounts in sync?
Or is there any way to move a contact from one account to another account?

I think the TM restore would have been much quicker. I was under the assumption that everything was good on the Mac address book.
Not sure what happened since then. Did you read my post (at 2:01pm above) before things went wrong?
"Try this. Disable iCloud on your mac. Select to keep contacts on the computer when quiting. Verify address book contains all your contacts. If you don't have a backup such as TM, export address book contacts so you will have a backup.
Your address book should have been correct or you could have corrected the contacts then and you would have had the backup files exported if you didn't have or trust TM.
Go to the iCloud website and delete all contacts there.
At the iCloud website, you should have been able to select all addresses at one time and delete. That would have left no addresses in iCloud. Only addresses left should have been on your Mac from the last step.
Once done, go back and log into iCloud on your computer and merge the contacts. The website should now contain the addresses from your address book.
Unless something else was wrong and creating multiple contacts, the only addresses in iCloud would have been merged from what was in your address book on your computer.
I don't know what happened or where we went wrong. I'll check back in the morning if you post any other info.

Contacts syncing is bidirectional, you can sync your phone with your work PC and put the contacts on the phone then you can sync it with your iMac and transfer your contacts to your Address book, just make sure you create at least a contact in your iMac so that the info merges

I have a Macbook Pro and have recently downloed Lion .... after having done this, my contacts no longer sync with Address Book. My calendar syncs with the iCAL but my contacts don't sync. I don't have iCloud set up and am not sure if that makes a difference, but any help would be GREAT!

The link provided did not contain a solution for me. However, based on what I read there, I was able to figure out the solution on my own.
Here it is. If you have a Motorola razr. Sorry I don't know which version of the phone or software I have. Go to phonebook. Choose the options by selecting the center menu key. Scroll through the list until you find Share Phonebook Entry. It is not in alphabetical order and may be the last entry. Select it and on the next screen choose bluetooth. The next screen is object exchange. If your computer appears as an option choose it, otherwise chose Look for device and when your computer comes up, select it. The phone will then send a card to your computer. Your computer will ask if you wanted to accept the card. There is also a box that gives you the option to select all. Check select all and then choose accept or hit return if accept is already highlighted in blue. The phone card will be saved to your computer in a default save location. You will next be given an option to see where the card is, in case you don't remember where your default location is. If you choose it, a window will appear showing you where the card is.
Next run isync and your data should be synchronized. Many duplicate entries will be somewhat altered in your computer's address book, i.e. first and last name will be combined and put in the first name box and so will not be recognized as duplicates. This is just part of the idiosyncrasies of the process. Manually go through and delete these.
This worked for me and I hope it is helpful to someone else out there having the same problem.

Thanks for any help with this problem. i just downloaded a cd that has MP3's on it to itunes. The problem is that i don't see, name of album,artist, or the genre listed for any of the mp3's on that cd. And itunes did not recognize any of them either. Is there a way to manally put this info in itunes. i went to "get info" and a box came up for each song. But there was no way to highlight it and put in the info. thanks

If there is no way to highlight it, sounds like your iTunes folder is set for read-only.
Go into Win Explorer, right-click properties on the iTUnes folder, and make sure the read only box isn't checked.

Siri, "call my wife's cell phone"

When I tell Siri to "call my wife's cell phone", "call my wife at home", it pulls up my named "Anthony Poole". However, if I tell Siri, "Alison is my wife", I get the response of "Ok, I already know that Alison Lastname is your wife".
If I say, "tell my wife I'll be home in 10 minutes", Siri respons with "Which Alison Lastname; Alison S. Lastname or Alison Lastname". However, when I search through Contacts, I only have 1 entry for my wife, which is "Alison S. Lastname".
Help, please.

Sorry about that. Did your wife obtain an International SIM card? If she did, then the calling will be a little different. If she did not, you will just call her phone as your normally do. Your phone will recognize that she is outside of the US and you will be billed accordingly. Here is how you would dial out to the Philippines: Dial 011 then 63 then international number.

I use exchange and no settings have been changed. Also siri forgets who I am once every two weeks or so and she will only remember my wife's association. Further, in the last two weeks if I asked her to email someone. She will initiate a telephone call. If is say "NO" she initiates a sms and a multitude of other intermittent problems.
I have performed a master reset and reloaded from a back up before the trouple started and the problem still exists. The problem is on the Siri side and not in my phone as they also show there ugly face on my I pad 4 synced with the cloud for contact info.
Perhaps Siri is aware that I got an Samsung Note 10.1 for Christmas. It is about the right timing.
P's. Have you tried location reminders? That fix does not work either.

And if you don't want it so you will click on i don't want it
and it won't say your name
