Measurable Parameters and tools

We have 4 12xx APs managed by a 1206 WLC. On the WLC, the only thing that I see are WEP decrypt errors. We are a manufacturing company (steel) and there is certainly lot of electricity used in the mill during arcing process. There have been certain complaints of loss of wireless connectivity but when I test it (only taking my laptop and pinging continuously some other devices), the total packet loss is negligible. The reply times though vary between 1ms to 40ms.
I want to know couple of things:
1. What tools can I use to measure other parameters (like local signal strength, SNR) that can be give me graphical and real time values as I move in various parts of the wireless network.
2. What are acceptable values for these parameters.
3. If there is any additional advice you would like to give, it is always appreciated.

For free tools, Netstumbler is a good place to start. It will give you stats including channel traffic and interference.
Another free tool, Kismet has some other helpful options but it runs under *nix. Probably the easiest way to implement Kismet, if you son't already have a *nix laptop, would be Knoppix.
Knoppix is a fully self-contained Linux system on a CD. You can boot the CD on nearly any laptop and, unless you specifically tell it to, will not touch or harm any of the data that exists on the hard drive.
The Knoppix CD also has some other possibly helpful tools. I believe there is also a similar CD that is built to be wireless focused .... but I don't remember the name.
"Acceptable Values" is too relative to really nail down, especially in a (probably) very noisy area. In addition, some wireless NICs/chipsets are better at discriminating signal from noise. Cisco NICs, and the Atheros chipsets in general, tend to be very good, if not the best overall.
Again, even a good chipset, engineered poorly into a NIC, can give less performance than the same chipset in a better engineered NIC, or a NIC with a better antenna design.
IMO, as part of your survey, it might be worthwhile to try a Cisco NIC versus an Intel NIC/integrated chipset versus Orinoco, etc (budget permitting).
You might be chasing a problem that you think is the AP system, when the problem is just a poorly implemented integated NIC or antenna (or more accurately, one that is not well-suited for your specific environment).
Any other details you can offer might be helpful towards more specific suggestions.

I'm a web developer (front end and back end, kind of a one man army sort of deal) and my current employer wishes to use crystal reports to display the results of the online survey apps/tools I have been working on for the last few months. However, I have been having trouble getting the reports to render in browser, and a lot of the ui components of the browser based report viewer (the interactive parameters and group tree) will not render properly in the design view of visual studio (ive attached a screen cap of what I'm talking about) or in the browser itself.
I am new to crystal reports and its community and if I am leaving out any critical details or have posted in the incorrect section please inform me and I will make changes as necessary.
Additional info:
Visual studio version: 2013 professional (trial)
Plugin version (exe file name): CRforVS_13_0_9.exe (I also installed the 64 bit run-time from this)
Server and OS versions: IIS 7.5 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
Any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike
First thing you want to do is uninstall CRVS SP 9 and install CRVS SP 10. SP 10 is the first SP to support VS 2013.
Once that is done, let us know if that helped any.

Measuring point and characteristics

what are the measuring points and characteristics to be created for the thermal power station , sap plant maintenance

Its based on the equipments in Power Station & Parameters to be measured for the Equipments. For example, for Boiler, Temperature, Pressure, Water Level, etc., will be measured.
So here we need to create Characteristics for all these. For Boilers, Measuring points will be created for these characteristics.
Equipments under Thermal Power stations could be Boilers, Transformers, Electric Generators, Coal Turbines, Condensers, etc., For each equipment, there will be different critical parameters to be measured on periodical basis.
Create Measuring points for all of them.

_Measuring Point_
Measuring points in the SAP System describe the physical locations at which a condition is described, (for example, Temparature and Pressure on a Boiler ). The characteristics associated with the measuring points which record the value can only be numeric characteristic. Measuring points are located on technical objects, in other words, on pieces of equipment or functional locations. For every measuring point there should be some characteristics to measure the reading.
To enable you to differentiate more easily between the individual measuring points and provide them with a unit, you assign each measuring point to a characteristic.
The parameters like Running Hours, Temperature, Pressure etc,, on equipments can also be mapped under measuring point.
Counter:
A type of measuring point, where a continuous reading is recorded (e.g. Milometer). In case the measuring point is a counter, it needs to be defined likewise.
Counter readings are taken at counters at particular intervals and in particular measurement units.
For Example, counter readings for kilometers driven or electricity used

OMB*Plus Command for Maintain/Add/Remove Experts in Context and Tools Menue

does anybody know how to maintain Experts in the Context- and Tools-Menue by OMB-Commands?
The problem ist, that I transfer Experts into another workspace via OMBEXPORT/OMBIMPORT,
and I would like to maintain the menues in my batch-script.
Can't find anything in the docu about this.

Just a few more questions about this.
Now, as I know the answer, I found it in the documentation as well.
But I allways find it very hard to find anything in the OMB*Plus Command Reference . And also with the description of the OMBMENU command: Why is there no description about the parameters in the reference? Where is the list of valid object types, and where is the description of the "QUOTED_STRING" (NEW, OPEN)?
This command is just an example for the, in my opinion, really poor quality of the OWB*Plus Command Reference.
Is there any underlaying reason for this that I do not understand, or is there a special strategy to work with this document, or do I just need more practice?
The answers to this questions would be very helpfull for me, but also for my customer, where we start to implement a quite big DWH on OWB basis.

DAC Generate Parameters and Build Commands

Hi everyone,
Can someone explain the differences between the generate parameters and the build commands?
My initial thought was that generate parameters generated the Informatica parameter files. But then I couldn't figure out what the purpose of the Build command was.
Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

When you see your ETL folders they are arranged depending upon the type of tasks SDE, SIL, PLP, etc. If you buy the OOB Oracle BI Apps they come with prebuilt ETL routines. These are meant to plug and play as adaptors depending on your source. The product also allows you to extract data from multiple sources hence different SDE folders. These are then assigned to Logical Folders in DAC. Every task you created is linked to an ETL workflow and is assigned to a Logical folder.
Now the workflows can be run manually from the ETL Tool or through DAC. When you run them to DAC it uses the Source and Target connection parameters from the Physical Data Sources tab in the Setup section denoted by the $ sign.
Generate Parameters looks at every task in your execution plan and checks what the $Source & $Target Parameters it needs. If your plan has SDEs, SILs, PLPs and then come from three sources (2 OLTPs, 1 Flat file) and 1 destination (DW) then you'll get 4 connection parameters, plus every folder associated with your ETL tasks. e.g SDE_ORA11510_Adaptor, SILOS, PLP, CUSTOM_SDE_ORA11510, CUSTOM_PLP, CUSTOM_SILOS. Then you can set which source you want to extract from and which target you want to send your data to.
Build on the other hand handles the dependencies. It is very important you set your Source Tables, Target Tables and the Task type at every task appropriately. It uses this to logically arrange the concurrency and dependencies of tasks.

Parameters and report on the same page

I am new to HTML_DB. I would appreciate your help with the following:
I have html page with items(parameters) and report on the same screen.
Items are:
Customer: Select list with Submit
Invoice No.: Select list - Populated invoices numbers for the selected customer
Department: Select List
Prod Month: Date Picker
Button: Report View.
Users can select any of the above parameter to create a report. The problem is when I don't select any customer and just select the department or prod month and click on a Report View button, I get SQL error in the Invoice Number item.
It seems when the page refreshes to create a report Invoice Number items sql query is executing but when it does not find the customer name, its giving the error.
If I select a customer name, the page gets refreshed and the report is generated. I dont want to create a report when they select a customer. I want them to select the parameters and click on the Report View button to create the report on the same page.

Sounds like you are building the query string and submitting that and the fact that they leave something out messes up that string... If that's the case, you can add validations to the page to make sure they enter in all the appropriate information.

How to measure current and voltage and rpm with daq device

i am measuring current and voltage and am wondering should i use shunt resistors or current sensors hall effect sensors. i have a pci 6221 and a scc-68 breakout box. what specifications or size should the shunt resistor/current sensor be or should i use another device to measure the currrent and voltage. do i need any other safety device between the resistors, current sensors and the scc-68 breakout box when measuring the current and voltage. will the daq card pci 6221 pick up a signal from the resistor. what terminals should the wires from the resistors and current sensors be connected to in the scc-68. i am using a proximity switch to measure rpm of a motor. should the proximity switch be 2 or 3wire connection. should it have an analog or digital connection and is a power supply required to power the proximity switch and should it have an npn or pnp connection

when i am measuring voltage can i connect two resistors between the positive and negative of the wires going to the battery and connect two wires from either side of the resistor directly into the analog inputs of the scc-68 and measure the 12-15 volts directly would the pci6221 and scc-68 be able to measure the voltage drop across the resistor.
i wanted to measure rpm also does it matter whether the proximity switch has 2 or 3 wires and should it have an analog or digital/frequency output for cponnecting to the scc-68

At the outset I want to thank you for any help or steer me to an idea about the drivers for this model, for a moment I will describe what exactly it.
I bought this laptop with Vista I got him a CD with the system and on this record were already drivers and add-ons to your laptop or other cool things such as Toshiba drivers for camera, Bluetooth, Synaptics, dvd software, and a program or driver I do not know exactly what it is, but such a cool thing that allows you to set the lights on the whole panel, including a laptop with the word "Satellite". Everything fits nicely, but only with Vista that I got on the board from Toshiba.
Now, I went on Windows 7 As for the fundamental drivers that have them from the manufacturer Toshiba eg driver webcam or mouse. But the more I depend on these great things that I had under Vista, even though that panel backlighting laptop.
Does anyone have any idea on this that all additives in the CD that I got, where it is Vista, you can somehow extract these extras, or is a site where you can download it all, or a list of these additives to Win match 7

First of all you can download all drivers and tools from the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
For the illumination buttons and illuminated Satellite you have to install Toshiba Value Added Package. It activates also all functions on the FN keys.
As far as I know the illumination can also be turned on/off in BIOS. Check this!!!
The webcam driver is also listed on the Toshiba page and touchpad driver to enable virtual scrolling.

That is indeed unfortunate. You will need to order a recovery disk set from HP or an HP Partnet. Here is how to order a recovery disk set.

The structure of this table is:

Third party setup and config softs, utils and tools.

Hello everyone,
I found, as expected, a lot of If-Then-ElseIfs in setting up servers, sure there's the worksheets, hords of PDF and Docs, video trainings, but what's more interactive?
Example: For FileMaker Pro, there are third party softwares like WiM's Analyzer which gives new insights to FMP.
Where are compared sets of soft, utils and tools for Mac OS X Server Tiger and/or Leopard?
I searched out but still feel I haven't found the "Why did I not get this in the first place" list of things.

Maybe my question is too general or the answers already on the web.
My best wish is to find a software in which that I could drag and drop computers, airports, other switches and OSes and click on it to configure in order to design networks, server and clients, Mac, Win and friends.

How do I change the size of file menu's and tool icons in Photoshop' opening page.

How do I increase or change the size of file menu's and tool icons on the opening page/worksheet of Photoshop? The File Menu drop down commands read properly at a comfortable size. I am not sure how I accomplished this, but everything I have tried has no effect on the other page items.

Hello, you can change most of Photoshop's interface text by going to preferences>interface>UI font size.
For the size of the top menus and the whole interface, there is no function to do that for the moment. I suggest to vote on this thread: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/problem_with_hi_res_monitors
