Measure events per second and store in a spreadsheet

hi I'm an spanish student and I need to measure RPM from a motor and store it. The frequency of de pulses is 30 to 300 Hz. And I need to measure 2 sources at the same time. Some body knows how?
I had been trying whit the FOUT signal for the gate but the time base seems to high and the read is 0.
I need to knoW if is some other way for do it. thank you

The way of measuring motor speed is to use an encoder to convert rotatory movement into a pulse train. The frequency of the pulse train will allow us to know the motor speed once the number of pulses/revolution of the encoder is known.
The best way to measure the pulse train frequency is to use a counter. You can use a multifunction data acquisition board (NI 60xx->2 counters per board) or an specific counter board (NI 66XX->4/8 counters per board).
The basic idea is to continuously count the number of rising or falling edges of a know frequency timebase for a single pulse of the signal comming from the encoder.
Have a look at the following URL.
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/CD2C8AAED8FA59A486256C230078FE75?opendocument
It has some info th
at could help you.
If you search on NI support web page (http://www.ni.com/support/) with keywords such as "measure frequency train" you will find several examples and documents that will be useful to you as well.
Hope it helps.

Is there a command to determine the events per second that an ASA is generating?  I can see the total messages logged, but can't tell what measurement of time they're associated with.
    thank you

    hi william,
thanks for you feedback! you could verify if the the 'rate-limit' for syslog is enabled on the ASA.
    see sample below.

  • How to see the number of events per second received by MARS

    Hi,
I have a MARS installed in a client for demonstration porpuse. Is there a way for me to see how many events per second has the MARS received?
Like in the access-list's logs when even if it can not log due the rate limit it says "missed 20 packets due rate limit".
So maybe the MARS can not process all the events, but it can say how many events it received per second in avarege.

go to admin->system maintenance->view log files and look for message rate

  • ASA events per second

Looking for a model comparison for the ASA family. I need to know how many events per second the ASA is capable of sending to a syslog server.
    Thanks.

Among the many products and technologies that make the Self-Defending Network possible is the Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis, and Response System (Cisco Security MARS). This appliance, which comes in six different models to accommodate from 50 to 10,000 events per second

  • MARS - events per second

How can I tell how many events per second our MARS 100 is receiving?

You can go into Admin->System Maintenance->View log files. Change the level to "info" and look for pnparser entries that look like this:
    Thread 4101:PN-2016:message rate: 1416.305176 msgs/sec, total: 11200000 msgs, total avg rate: 723.042933 msgs/sec
Now, the last time I worked with Cisco TAC on a performance related issue...I was told these numbers weren't quite right(they were low), but they didn't tell me why. That was a long time ago though. We process over 90 million events/day on this MARS. That averages to over 1000 events/sec. At 7:30am on a weekday (even on a Friday morning before a holiday weekend), I would except numbers HIGHER than the average, not lower. So, I don't know what to think.

Trying to find a camcorder that records in 60 frames per second and will upload onto  ipad2 through camera connector

Old forum discussion, message now gone, but here's the summary
Matt with Grass Valley Canopus in their tech support department stated that the model 110 will suffice for most hobbyist. If a person has a lot of tapes that were played often the tape stretches and the magnetic coding diminishes. If your goal is to encode tapes in good shape buy the 110, if you will be encoding old tapes of poor quality buy the model 300
Both the 110 and 300 are two way devices so you may output back to tape... if you don't need that, look at the model 55

  • How to see EPS (events per second) at IPS from CLI

    Hi folks,
Is there anyway to see the number of EPS a particular IPS sensor generates while being connected to it via telnet?
What's the size of the events store? And how can SDEE pull old events from the store?

You'll have to do a little math to come up with that number yourself:
    "show stat analysis"
    then take the output lines:
Number of seconds since service started = 10887
Number of SigEvents since reset = 37360
and devide the sigevent count by the number of seconds.
The event store is a fixed size (and I don't remember how big they made it in flash) but the events are variable in size. SDEE can be used to pull old events because the client (your SIM, MARS, etc) requests events from the server (your sensor) much like you do when querying the event store from the CLI.
    "show event alerts past 23:39"

  • Calendar - how to enter more than one event per date and show it in the Month display?

I would like to enter multiple events (two, anyway) for a single day in the calendar.  I would also like that Month view to display the two events.  So far, all I've been able to do is enter a single event; in fact, only a single line for the single event.  If I enter in Notes, they're not displayed in the Month view.  Thank you.

I assume that you are tapping the + sign to enter additional events and that is not working so try quitting the app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Measuring bits per second

Can anyone direct me to details/sample code on determining the amount of network usage taking place?  I would assume a combination of the FPS and quality values would be used?  This is for screen sharing, web cam and audio publishing.

    Hi Blair,
I think this depends on what you're trying to do - if you're trying to take
some measurements in order to take a baseline, the easiest way would be to
use the Room Console, connected to the room in question as it's used. The
"logs" panel will tell you the bandwidth usage for one particular user. This
is a tool used for estimating what usage looks like under different usage
    scenarios.
Is this what you're looking for?

  • Still images per second and "shutter times" for webcams

Hi! I'd like to know how frequent a webcam (such as Optia AF) can take still images (at for example 2 megapixel) and send them to the PC via USB. Also, I'd like to know how long the "shutter time" is for still images, and if it can be adjusted. I want to be able to take sharp still images of moving objects and to process those images in near realtime. What webcam would be good to use for this purpose?I would be grateful for any advice!

Great news. For Time-Lapse, I probably go with 3 - 5 Frames for my Stills Duration most often, but it depends on the look and feel that I am trying to obtain, and also the interval that the shooting took place. Sometimes I end up with less, but sometimes more - it just depends on the look. I usually do a test Project, and Import a few Images at 3 Frames, then play that many times, to see if I like it. If not, then off I go to 4 Frames, etc.. You were going in the other direction, as you already had a good feel for the pacing of your piece - you just needed to do the math to get there.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Counting pulses and measuring flow rate per second

    Hi everyone
I am using a compactField Point (cFP-2220) controller to measure the flow rate. The flow sensor that i have, gives the output in terms of the pulses. I need to count the number of pulses for a particular interval and divide it by a K-factor( constant value) to get the flow rate. If i select the interval to be of a second, i would want to count number of pulses per second and divide it by K-factor to get flow rate ( per second).
How do i count pulses per second and consequently measure flow rate using this count and K-factor.
Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

You may be able to use the Edit Tempo function to work this out. With you waveform in Edit view Right Click on the time scale at bottom of waveform and select Bars and Beats display. Select a number of beats by highlighting with the cursor. Then again on the Time bar select Edit Tempo. In that dialogue you can try clicking on Extract to find the Tempo ie. beats per minute. Also you can try adjusting the tempo by entering avalue manually to see how close that gets to your waveform.
Haven't used this function of Audition much so you may have to refer to the help file to find out more about it.

  • CO Pulse Frequency doesn't actually generate 1 Pulse per Second?

    Hello all,
I have a VI layed out in the attachment below.  I seem to have a lack of understanding on how to program this VI here.  I just don't understand what is possibly going wrong.
The VI is very basic.  The frequency has been set to 1, and the units are Hertz.  To me, this means that the program should send one pulse to my linear actuator ONCE per second.  I have a simple pulse counter set up in the VI as well to count how many pulses are actually being sent (using the DAQ assistant).  Why is it that when I run the program, I get around 300 pulses per second?  Raising the value makes it goes slightly faster, but lowering the value doesn't really make it go any slower.  There seems to be no real correlation between the input frequency and the actual number of pulses that are sent.
I just simply want a program that I can input "1 pulse per second" or however many pulses I want per second and have the card send ONE pulse per second (or however many is input).  Where do I start?  I have a whole program written out and ready to go, but this basic concept here completely eludes me.
    Thanks,
    James

In the simple image, you are running a loop as fast as possible (there's no timing mechanism).  Inside that loop, you configure the pulse task, start it, then immediately stop and clear it.  You need to create the channel and configure the timing outside the while loop, before it starts, and you need to clear the task outside the loop as well, after the while loop terminates.  Depending on what you want to do, you may be able to move the task start outside the loop as well, or just let the task auto-start.
You'll need to restructure your VI a bit.  I can't tell if you want to clear the task after each step, or just change the frequency.  If it's just the frequency, you can use DAQmx Write to change it; if you need to start and stop the task, you'll need some logic to do that once each time you want to restart (you may get an error if you start a task that's already running).  There's no need for "Is Task Done?" since you're not using the output for anything.
EDIT: Also, it is always a good idea to put a wait inside loops that execute indefinitely.  Otherwise they will spin as fast as possible, consuming all available processor time and preventing other code from running.  If you configure your counter task properly the loop timing won't affect the pulse rate (because that's done in hardware) but there's no need to run the loop that fast.

  • New Updates - Video recording/more frames per second?

Just wondering if any future updates for the iPhone could include a video recording function? or is this impossible to do without changing hardware in the actual phone?
Also could it be possible for the camera to improve? mine at present captures a very low number of frames per second and you have to hold it extremely still or else it will take a blurred photo. Anyone think it will be possible for apple to improve the camera functions in an update?

There have been hackers that have created a video capture program for the iPhone. Its just a proof of concept right now but it does work.

  • Multiple events per date with only one photo each - Unwanted

I have the eyefi wireless sd card in my camera and it is setup to transmit my photos into iphoto automatically, which it does. However, the problem arises in that iphoto creates multiple events for the same date each containing only one photo. I would prefer that iphoto create individual events per date and have the multiples of that date's photos within. I thought I had the settings configured to do so as I have preferences set for autosplit events one per day but I still see events such as - July 3, 2008 - July 3, 2008 - July 3, 2008 - each with only one photo inside.
I am wondering if it is something in iphoto's settings or the way in which eyefi transmits the photos into iphoto.
    Any thoughts?

I do not have a WiFi connection to my camera so can not test but am just guessing
I can think of two possibilities
    - 1 - if you are taking the photos with the WiFi connected then each time you snap a photo it may be being sent which would be looked at as a new import and therefore create a new event - to stop this I believe you would have to not have a full time WiFi connection to your camera or somehow set the camera to send batched - not each one - iPhoto will take each batch into and follow the rules for making events for that batch even if you camera is sending many batches of One photo
    - 2 - You have the preference for making batches set to one every two hours and there is a long time between photos - I'm guessing that #1 is more likely

  • Router Switching Performance in Packets Per Second (PPS) : ISR 4431 and 4431

    Hi,
In this document, I am able to find the Routing Performance for all routeurs except ISR 4000 series.

I would like to know what is the Router Switching Performance in Packets Per Second (PPS) and Mbps for ISR 4431 and 4431 routers.

I've not been able to find anything beyond a bandwidth capacity rating, such as 500 Mbps upgradable to 1 Gbps for the 4431.
    I did find http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/routers/4000-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/enterprise-routing-portfolio-poster.pdf?mdfid=283967372
The point of interest for the foregoing, is the performance listings for the 800 series routers.  Assuming their bandwidth performances ratings are using a similar performance methodology for all the routers, we can look at whitepapers, like the attached, and presume the 4000 series bandwidths are a total aggregate for typical traffic with most typical "WAN" features enabled.  I.e. presume 500/1,000 Mbps is maximum recommended aggregate bandwidth usage with typical "WAN" traffic and typical "WAN" features.
    PS:
Documents like: http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/downloads/765/tools/quickreference/routerperformance.pdf can be very easily misunderstood when trying to predict real-world performance.  I suspect Cisco's latest bandwidth recommendations are trying to provide an easy to understand values for sizing routers for typical usage.
The attachment shows how feature usage, and traffic content, impacts ISR performance, which is why the older document can so easily mislead.
