Measurement automation explorer

Hello,
I am currently trying to modify the acceleration in NI-MAX and in either way, if I change it in 1D Interractive or in trajectory settings it is impossible to change the value below 4000 step/s^2.
So my question is how may I change this value to one below 4000 step/s^2 in NI-MAX?
Thank you very much.

You can't go below 4000 in MAX, programmatically you have to use the Enable Axes.flx function to change the controller time base. Refer to NI 73xx Time Base section (and to the following sections of chapter 4) of the NI-Motion User Manual for more details.

  • Problem w/ Measurement automation explorer or Inst I/O Asst

    Hello,
I am new to Labview, and am working my way through the tutorial. I have loaded 3 discs for Measurement Automation Explorer such that i may complete Ch.4 of Getting started w/ Labview, using a DAQ device. The portion where i place an Instrument I/O Assistant on the block diagram is holding me up. When i double click the sub VI, it pops up an error message telling me that "Measurement automation explorer or Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly". I have loaded these disk's twice so far, same issues. No one around the office can figure it out, either. I am using Labview disks dated Feb. 2007, NI MAX 4.2, compliance package 3.0, NI DAQmx 8.5. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Measurement & Automation Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I get "Measurement & Automation Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." message when trying to open MAX.  Has anyone seen this before?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Haven't seen it, but I'd recommend uninstalling it and reinstalling it.  It could just be a corrupt installation.

  • Measurement & automation explorer 5.5

I installed the latest measurement & automation explorer 5.5, all the earlier versions were working fine. My remote system is listed but under the remote system only the software folder is listed. In all earlier versions the devices & interfaces item would also be listed. Which is what I need to configure my remote PXI Labview RT system.
Is there something new that I have to do to get the devices listed?
I had to revert to an older PC running NI-Max 4.5 to configure the system.

Have you tried, right clicking Remote Systems and select Create New..??

  • Measurement & Automation Explorer doesn't identify my racks

I'm using Measurement & Automation Explorer V4.0.3.3003.  When I install the software some of my devices are not automatically identified.
    The devices are:
    1.) PXI 8176
    2.) PXI-1045 (chassis 1)
    3.) PXI-1045 (chassis 2)
After I manually identify these devices, then my configuration tree looks correct.
Any ideas why these devices aren't automatically identified?

    Hey Jim!
The auto identify feature wasn't introduced until a later version of MAX.  If you get a chance.  Please update your drivers!.  You can download our updated drivers at http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/fn/p/lang/en.  Thank you Jim!

  • Measurement & Automation Explorer hangs

Application hangs at "Devices and Interface" ... Also hangs when I try to verify GPIB setup ... Can't run Labview at all ...

have you tried to uninstall and reinstall?  Has it ever worked?  If so, what has changed recently?  Do you have admin privliges on the tartget machine?  Sounds like you may need to call NI tech support instead of hanging out here for help.

  • How can I get all the options of Field Point Explorer 3.0.2 in Measurement and Automation Explorer 3.1?

I am a student using LabVIEW and Compact Field Point to implement a
senior design project in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  We
have LabVIEW 7.1 and a cFP-2020 and additional modules.  We are
trying to use the CTR-500 module to output a pulse train to drive a
stepper motor.  We have found instructions online of how to do
this, but they all use Field Point Explorer.  The instructions
make use of options in Field Point Explorer that are not included in
Measurement and Automation Explorer (the software included with the
    cFP).
I have downloaded Field Point Explorer 3.0.2 and followed the
directions.  Now, in LabVIEW, when I using the newly created .iak
file, I get a dialogue asking to find the SubVI: 'FP Read (Float Array
-IO).vi'.  Included with LabVIEW are subvis for FP Read, but not
with the float array part.  So I figure I cannot use Field Point
Explorer created .iaks with LabVIEW 7.1.  So how cannot I access
the same options in Measurement and Automation that I was able to find
    in Field Point Explorer?
    Thanks

    Hi,
FieldPoint Explorer is no longer used to configure FieldPoint systems. However, I do not think that the configuring your system in FieldPoint Explorer is causing the error.
FieldPoint systems are now setup in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).  Information on setting up FieldPoint systems in MAX can be found in the MAX help under: Installed Products>> FieldPoint. Also, I recommend upgrading to the latest FieldPoint driver and version of MAX.  The FieldPoint VI's will be slightly different when you upgrade, so there is a good chance that this will eliminate the error.

  • I get an exception error when launching NI Measurement and Automation Explorer

The CniDMFuiProvider::Initialize plug-in caused an exception in the CmxExecutionThreadPool:oWorkNonUI function in the MAX process.  What is mean.  I cannot access NI MAX after I ignore this message, I will   have to kill the process.

    Greetings nintel
This type of NI-MAX exception is associated with a corruption in some files of the NI-MAX and has been solved in the past by either removing a MAX database corruption or repairing the installation of NI-MAX. Have you tried going to Control Panel>>Programs and Features>>NI Software and repairing NI Measurement & Automation Explorer? Please let us know if any of those steps solve the problem. Have a nice day.

  • Measurement and automation explorer

    Hello,
In my application, I want modify the offset and the sensitivity in scales of Measurement and automation explorer. Is it possible to do it in a VI and how?
Because in my application I have a menu in which there is a calibration part. In this, I would like to group all parameters of my sensors (name, sensitivity and offset) and write automatically the offset and the sensitivity located in Measurement and Automation explorer without quit my application.
    Thanks for your help,Franc.

There might be a way to do this with DAQmx, but DAQmx is not supported in LabVIEW Real-Time 7.0.
Using Traditional NI-DAQ, you can only read custom scale information with Get Scale Information.vi. This VI is located under Data Acquisition >> Calibration and Configuration >> DAQ Channel Utilities.

  • Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)

where does Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) store virtual channel names

They are in the ivi.ini file, typically located in the \VXIpnp\WinNT\niivi directory. Substitute your OS name for "WinNT".

  • Is it possible to change the resolution of indivdual channels in measurement and automation explorer using a VI

    Hi
I'm acquiring data on 8 analog input channels using a PCI-6052 E card. The data on channels 5 thru 8 is going to be between +1V and -1V. So for greater resolution I'm manually changing the range of these channels to +1V to -1V in the measurement and automation explorer. Is there a way by which I can make these changes directly using a VI ?
    Thanks,
    Shiv

    Hi
Yes you can, but only if you use the "AI Config" VI. AI config allows different gains for different channels. The "channels" and "input limits" inputs of the VI accepts arrays. The first element of the input limits array corresponds to the first element of the channel array. Check the "cont acq&chart (buffered).vi" in the LV examples. There you see what I mean!

  • How do I increase the field of view in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) Version 3.1.1.3003

I am using Measurement and Automation Explorer Version 3.1.1.3003 to view pictures on a pc that are being sent from a video camera looking through a microscope.  The image I see in the viewfinder of the microscope is MUCH smaller than the image that is displayed on the pc screen.  Looking through the viewfinder of the microscope, I can see ~20 mm across the object, but the display from the camera in NI-MAX shows ~4.5 mm across the object.  How can I change how much of an object is displayed on the screen in NI-MAX?
The camera is attached to the microscope with a camera adapter on the top of the microscope.  The lenses the camera "looks" through and the lenses used when one looks through the viewfinder are the same, so theoretically, there should be no difference in what is displayed on the pc and what is seen through the viewfinder.  We have ruled out the microscope and camera as the cause of the problem, which narrows it down to the NI-MAX software itself.
I saw in the forums that you can zoom out on an image; however, this does not change the distance across an image that is seen, just makes the picture of the same ~4.5 mm across the object smaller in size.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

I have attached a picture of the object's image being displayed on the pc monitor.  Where the field of view (FOV) in the microscope is almost 30 mm, the FOV displayed onscreen is about 7 mm.  After contacting companies various times I discovered there was a reducing lens that goes in the C-mount adaptor, but it is over $300.
I thought maybe that the FOV could be changed in in NI Measurement and Automation Exploer (NI-MAX).  Any ideas?

  • Measurement and Automation Explorer not installed correctly

I have a trial version of LabView 8.5.  Upon trying to change the Instrument I/O Assistant, I get "Measurement and Automation Explorer not installed correctly.  Please install from driver CD."  Well, I don't have the CD since this was a trial download.
Basically, what I am trying to do is this:  I want to pull 4 variables/tags from an Allen Bradley PLC and log them to an Excel spreadsheet.  I am using RSLinx to communicate with the PLC, and LabView to compile the info.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Any Ideas?  I have the program running right now, and I'm kinda in a bind.  I also tried RSView32 Works to log the info, but there isn't enough flexibility in logging.  I need to log flow rate test results from a large automated machine.  The mahcine does a number of operations, but we are most concerned with these four tags (since it conducts four tests at once).  The problem is, the cycle time varies with the lot of product.  Some products require more time as the process is more delicate.  So, I can't use a time-interval logging method.
As for variable change, I can't do that either because it records the 4 test results in series; not all at the same time.  That, and if the test is aborted (no tube), the previous test result value stays in the tag until there is a successful test.
I found a variable that changes once per cycle.  I'd like to log the four tags once per cycle.
BUT I can't do anything until I get the I/O Wizard working.

  • Different scaling and sensitivity units for acceleration in Measurement & Automation Explorer

    Hi,
I am using  Measurement & Automation Explorer version 5.1.0f0.  I have previously configured my accelerometer using this module.  Under setting, I have used g as my scaled unit.  The sensitivity units is set at mVolts/g.  This is just fine.
However when I tried to change the scaled units to m/s^2.  I DID NOT get the option to set the sensitivity units into mVolts/m/s^2.
Is it OK to continue using mVolts/g for sensitivity units even when I had changed the scaled units to m/s^2.  Since the two engineering units are different, will the accelerometer output correctly give out m/s^2 reading or I have to make some adjustment at the vi post acquisition like dividing with 9.8?
    Thanks

You do need a scale (oh, setting one up with slope=9.8 and offset around 0 ought to get mV/g to mV/M^2 pretty effectivly)

  • Lost connection to measurement & automation explorer

Once in a while Labview loses connection to Measurement & Automation Explorer so I'm unable to execute the "*IDN?" command to obtain my GPIB ID unless I manually open up Measurement & Automation Explorer then manually rescan for my instruments again then Labview will see it.  This is extremely cucumbersome if it has to be done manually.  So is there a better way to programmically forcing Measurement & Automation Explorer to rescan the instrument?
Note:  If I click on VISA  -> Refresh, it always found attached devices by its addresses but it won't let me execute *IDN? query command once in a while.  This does not happen all the time.  Just at random unexpected time.  What worries me is my program is expected to run testing & evaluation for 2 months period, if this issue requires manual configuration then it becomes a big deal.
    Thanks

Why are you trying to control MAX from LabVIEW? You do not need to do this to communicate with instruments. Rescanning for instruments in MAX is also irrelevant as far as communicating to instruments from LabVIEW. What kind of GPIB controller are you using? It sounds to me like the problem is more likely to be there.
