Measurement of count

hi
i have a characteristic and depending on the condition some no. of items are available for reporting in the structure of the query. my problem is how do i measure the no of items for the selection condition. i have to show the measured count only, i mean if there are 10
matches for given condition then count will show 10 only.

i have got the solution, actually i searched on the forum and i found one reply which solved my problem.
here is the solution :
Please go through the below steps.
1) Create a calculated Key Figures in query change mode
( choose any Key Figure which query using as rows)
2) Right Click on CKF , choose the properties
Go to Enhance Button below to last changed by
3) Choose Exception aggregation as"Counting all Values" with Reference Characteristic to Material
4) pull this CKF into the rows of the query
( The Material remains in free characteristic section)
5) Execute the query.

In your Visual Studio project locate the target fact table in data source view (DSV file) and create a "Named Calculation" (Right-click the target fact table on DSV and select "New Named Calculation..." option) and hard-code 1 in the
expression dialogue. Then use the newly created column name along with the Sum function to create a cube level measure.

Use timing measured using counter 1 to set the pulse width on counter 2

I am measuring time between 2 edges on counter 1. I want to be able to generate a pulse on counter 2 that is dependent on the time measured by counter 1. The delay on counter 2 is a multiplicative of the time measured on counter 1. Is this even possible?

I am using a PCI 6251 M series card and using DAQMX. Your assumptions are alomost correct. I am using a period measurement to measure time in between two leading edges on counter 1 inside a while loop. I had set up the second counter to generate a single pulse on each trigger (retriggerable digital trigger) inside the same loop and update the low time of the pulse using the channel property. There seems to be a 2 iteration delay between when counter 2 catches up with time measured on counter 1 time. I believe this is because the pulse is already generated before the vaule is measured on counter 1. I suppose if I can use counter write after the counter 1 is read out it might work, but I haven't figured out how to use DAQMX write to write a single pulse ( it works only for pulse train??).

how to create measuring point and measuring point counter.
what is the difference between these two.
what is measuring point category,
what is measuring point
what is measuring point object
what is measuring position.
can anyone explain me in an easy for better understanding.

Firstly a Measuring point is nothing but, a factor which you measure on an equipment/FL. (Temperature, Vibration etc)
Then, a measuring point is created either on a Functional location or on an Equipment.
IK01 is the T-code for creating it.
If it is for F/L you have to use IFL as measuring point object, when it is an equipment you use IEQ
Generally these two will be in use.
In the IK01 screen if you tick the counter checkbox, the MP becomes a counter.
Example for simple MP is temperature.
And example for a Counter MP is 'Litres of petrol consumed'
In the first case you don't need to add the temperature measurements, whereas in the petrol consumption you may wish to have the cumulative value of readings taken for a period of time.
The measuring position: Example : If you are measuring the temperature of a Motor on the Drive side, you may put 'Drive End' in this field, or similar many applications.
Category would group these MPs.
In case of need you may define in customisation a sep[arate MP category.
Then each time you read a MP through IK11 or other methods a Measuring Document is created.

Can you tell me about the performance based maitenance :
1. Measuring Point (M.P.)
2.Counter
What are the characterstic units come under the Measuring Point.is it right that only we can give upper and lower limit in M.P not in counters.Also User exit is only created for MP not for counter.
What are the basic difference between Measuring Point & Counter.
In both the cases is it necessary to select counter tick mark or only in case of counter ?Is there is any difference while generating the plan

IMG - Maintenance Plan,work center, task list & PRTS - Maintenance Plan - Set maintenance plan catagories.
Here in call object column you can define which type of call object you want for your maintenance order based on this you will get the order or notification as a call object.
And rest of the things measuring point & counter that already defined in this thread.

What is the concept of Measuring point,counter & meas document in regard to PM ?

Measuring Points are measurement of physical condition like temprature pressure, and consumption like fuel, and reading like hour meter , speedometer etc.
measuring points just like as log book of equipment
it is created by ik01, against technical object with characterstics of which we want to take measurment reading
and when actual reading are recorded against measuring point , a document is genrated called measurment document
it is crated by ik11, ik14 , ik34 against measuring point

Multiplication factor in measurment point/counter

Hey Gurus,
Is it possible to include multiplication factor in measuring points / counter? Like when my clients are entering the readings of energy meter they have to multiply it with some factor to get the actual reading. Is it possible in std sap or do i ve to go for development?

Hi Abhishek,
Some time back I have done the same requirement for one of my clients.
For that we have created a Z- Table and maintained the multiplication factor for that particular measuring point.When we enter the reading in measuring documnet system will check the multiplication factor in the Z- table and populate the reading.
We have used IMRC0001 user exit for this.Please ask your ABAP team to develop this, it is not much complicated.

Usage of Measuring Point : Counter for Generating Bills

Case : Client has a Power Generation Unit, from which it supplies power to customers. Meters installed at the customers premises are recorded by Client personnel. Bill is generated on the basis of meter reading.
Requirement : Can Plant Maintenance : Counters be used for bill generation? How should the process be mapped?

How to create Measures for count on Flag colums in FACT with a CONDITON

I have about 6 flag columns in my fact table and I would like to create measures in my report with count as aggregation on these flag columns with a group by on a condition.
I am able to do this very easily with SQL query but am really stuck with on how to achieve this in OBIEE.
Each of my measure should be to do an aggreagation of count on the flag column with a condition such as is flag true/false.
Eg:
Measure1 - Select count(INV_ID) from payments_f where Flag 1 = "TRUE" and Flag2 = "FALSE" GROUP_BY (COLUMN1)
Measure2 - Select count(INV_ID) from payments_f where Flag 2 = "TRUE" and Flag3 = "FALSE" GROUP_BY (COLUMN1)
similar conditions for all the flag columns.
I tried to write the where condition in the Content tab of the Logical table but unfortunately it does on the table level - which was not very helpful to me
I really appreciate if some one can help me on how to achieve this.

You need to create a new logical column in your existing logical table. Then you need to set the physical mapping to:
CASE WHEN FLAG1 = "TRUE" AND FLAG2 = "FALSE" THEN 1 ELSE 0 END.
Set aggregation rule to Sum.

How to create a measure for COUNT and compare year-to-date/last year?

Hello expert,
I have gone through the Oracle by example tutorial for creating the repository. However, I can't find out how to create a measure to display the COUNT (sequence ID). I tried the Aggregation function on the sequence ID on the Fact table but the report on Answer listed out all the sequence IDs in the database. And did not give me the count of the transaction for the period quarter. If I used the sequence ID on Dim table, the SQL failed.
And also I want to have two counts, one is for the count of transactions by quarter. Another is for count of transaction for the same period quarter.

If you use count (or count distinct ) as the aggregation rule in the dropdown in the repository column, it should work. Or you can post the generated logical and physical sql here.

Measuring Point Counter Overflow reading

Dear Masters,
I want to know whether there is any standard method by which i can create a notification in the system whenever any measuring point reading reaches its counter overflow reading?
Can I do the same with the range valued measuring points? That if the measuring point reading is out of the range defined in a measuring point, it should create a notification

To create the Notification, use the FM BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE.

Counter 1 - Measure Frequency & Counter 0 - Generate PWM POSSIBLE?

Is this POSSIBLE with a NI-6025E DAQ card? Can I use the two counters to generate % control a TTL PWM signal and at the same time measure frequency from a circuit? This is my connection.
GPCTR1_SOURCE - connected to find frequency circuit
GPCTR1_OUT - connected to GPCTR0_GATE
GPCTR1-GATE - not in use
GPCTR0_SOURCE - not in use
GPCTR0_OUT - connected to DC motor circuit
GPCTR0-GATE - connected to GPCTR1_OUT
My concern is that changing or controlling the TTL PWM might change the frequency reading. This is because COUNTER O is connected to COUNTER 1.

I understand to measure frequency of a signal there are TWO methods. A ONE counter method and a TWO counter method. I need to measure a frequency between 1 Hz to 200 Hz. Is the ONE counter method possible? What is the ONE counter method?

Plant Maintenance - Measuring Point Counter Replacement

Dear Expert,
I had created Measuring Point which is cumulative in nature and the Counter Overflow reading is 999999. Suppose the last reading was 999900. Now my today reading is 500 then system is showing total counter reading 10000400.
My question is "how system will replace the counter reading as 401 automatically instead of 10000400". I don't want to replace the counter manually. Please guide me where i have to do configuration for this or what is best way to do it.

My question is how the Total Counter Reading will become zero and start from zero when it overflow.
For example :
Lets Counter Over Flow Reading is 100
total counter reading on 8th august is 90.
on 9th august the difference is 40, then Counter reading become 30 and TotalCtrReading is 130. I want TotalCtrReading should show 30 instead of 130. how to do it?

Time measurement between counter output my device and analog input

Hello!
I'm trying to measure the time to generate a digital pulse train on the counter output, that goes to a frequency converter that controls a motor. So I think it'd be the best way to wire the output of the frequency converter with an analogue input and make a timestamp before I generate the pulse and a timestamp when I recognize the singal, but I think that wouldn't be a serious measurement ?
What's the best way to measure the time?

well, there a several ways to do this. the problem with the software - timestamps is the minimal resolution of 1ms. i'd suggest:
- wire a copy of the digital pulse train to an analog input channel
- wire a copy of the frequency converter to another analog input channel
- create an analog input task with the two channels (the sampling rate defines the timing resolution,make sure to acquire enough samples to see the response signal)
- start this task
- send the digital pulse train
to optimize your acquisition you can use another copy of the digital pulse train as a start trigger for your analog acquisition.
-> then you'll see the digital pulse train on one of the analog channels and the frequency output on the other one. both channels have the same time axis with a resolution defined by your sampling rate (~us depending on your hardware). then you can analyze the data.
search the example finder for examples of how to create tasks and triggers.
