Meeting invitations related limitations?

Hi,
I've come across to two (apparent) limitations related to processing of meeting invitations:
1) Compared to previous BlackBerry software versions, the space provided for comments added to responses to meeting invitations (e.g. clarification why I cannot join the meeting or why I marked it as tentative) seems to be limited to a single line. This may not be sufficient in some cases. Am I missing something?
2) In contrast to processing of meeting invitations in MS Outlook, the invitations seem to be removed completely after processing them on BB Q10 (MS Outlook moves them to folder Deleted items, which still provides an option e.g. for checking the details of such an invitation after I reject my participation on such a meeting or if I possibly change my mind later). Is there some option somewhere allowing to change this BB Q10 behaviour?
Thanks
Tomas

I have the exact same problem including the "other / funny" part you mention. It's a never ending cycle and it's annoying! I feel badly for the people I've accepted the invites for as the must have received 3-5 accepts from me.
Let us know if you find a solution.
BTW, I also am using a MacBook Air with Outlook 2011 on the same account.

  • Calendar Meeting Invite from Outlook 2010 to iCal

    Hello,
I am very VERY new to Macs and to be honest Calendar invites in general (Came from a Lotus Domino environment). I have come across an oddity that I am almost sure is related to the content of the .ICS file generated by Outlook and then sent to a mail user who uses an Apple Max OS X 10.7.3. (our Managing Director). It has resulted in me (IT for the company) buying an Apple Mac to try and troubleshoot. Sorrry for the Blurb
    Working Scenario is
    1. Use a Google email account and the Web interface to send a meeting invite to another Google homed account and that person uses a Mac as described.
    2. Invite arrives and is automatically available in iCal with a tentative meeting (grey) event PLUS the notification panel in iCal showing an alert.
    3. The notification Panel alert can then be used to Accept/decline the invite.
For the MD this is how he wants to work. As he gets numerous invites he can quickly scan down the notification alerts and access/decline as he goes. Rather than opening all of the email messages.
    Failing Scenario is
    1. Use an Outlook 2010 client to send the exact same invite to the same person at the same time (etc.)
    2. Invite arrives in the Mac mail Box. BUT DOES NOT trigger iCal's notification panel
    3. The Mac User needs to click on the attached .ICS file and if iCal is also visible you can see the notification alert appear
I have TextEdited both .ICS files and yes they are different. The general VCALENDAR elements are roughly the same but there differences with bits and pieces that a too numerous to mention. There is also all of the garbage with X- elements which I would think iCal will ignore anyway. I have tried hacking the failing .ICS when it arrives but that doesn't mimic the same type of flow and in the end I can't modify the .ICS files either as they are sent or arrive.
Yes, I have told the Outlook client to send using the iCalendar format for external recipients.
I was wondering if anyone had come across the same type of requirement or the same type of issue?
    thanks in advance
    Bruce.

I had the identical problem.  I still don't know how to sync the tasks, but here's how I did the contacts and calendar:
    1.  Connect the 4s to the computer.
    2.  Open iTunes.
    3.  Click the iPhone box in the upper right corner.
    4.  Click on the info tab.
    5.  Hit the checkbox Sync Contacts with... and choose Outlook from the dropdown box.
    6.  Ditto for Calendars.
    7.  Hit Apply.
My problem was that originally, I wasn't getting the checkboxes.  I turned off the iCloud settings on the 4s.  That did the trick.

  • Unable to select/dial #'s in Meeting Invites

I'm just coming over from a couple years using a Blackberry to a Windows Mobile device, so bare with me if this is obvious.
On my BB I was able to open a meeting invite, highlight the conference line number with my scroll wheel, and push in to dial.  Now on my Palm 700wx, it seems like not only can I not highlight or dial the number, but I can't even see the passcode for the conference line because it goes completely off the screen.  So, I'm wondering if this is something that others have experienced as well.  I have a sprint based 700wx with Windows Mobile 5.
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Sprint)

    Hi Niel
    Thanks for your response.
"All of the options except for Erase Free Space will be disabled".  I'm not sure if your statement is correct because it looks like "Erase Free Space" is disabled.
Why are you assuming I'm using an SSD?

  • ICal won't send meeting invitations; can't recognize My card

    Hello,
I have searched for this issue, and found a related article, but the fix didn't work for me. Here's the other article:
iCal unable to send the invitation; needs address card...
So when I try to send a meeting invitation using iCal, as soon as I type someone's email address, a message pops up:
"Calendar will be unable to send the invitation. - To be able to send invitations, you need to add your email address to your card in Contacts. '(null)' is not a valid email address"
I have tried creating a new card, restarted the system, reverted back to another card, but nothing works. I can no longer send meeting invitations. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Faisal

After speaking with Apple tech support, this turned out to be a contacts corruption issue. If i recall correctly, I did the following:
    - Exported all contacts using the *Export vCard option"
    - Exported all contacts again using the "Contacts Archive" option
    - Closed mail, contacts, calendar, rebooted the system
    - Opened Library/Preferences folder and deleted all instances of com.apple.addressbook*
    - Removed google account completely
    - There were a couple of other files that I was asked to delete. Sorry but I can't remember at this time
    - Rebooted the mac
    - Created a new entry for my card, and made it my own card.
    - Opened calendar, and added a new event; sent the event to a test email
    - Opened contacts. Imported all contacts using the vCard option
    - Re-added Google account
    - Back to normal.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Meeting Invitations on in GMT (Reykjavik)

Some meeting invitations are only recoginized as GMT time although the oringal is for another time zone.  Any know how to get this corrected?  It occurs on invitations from multiple sources.  Thanks in advance.

    @Geno,
The blog post you mentioned, talks about  a known issue with public folders lossing permissions after deploying CU2, this happens only when you move PF mailboxes.
This issue is fixed in 15.0.712.24(Exchange2013-KB2859928-x64-v2.exe). You can download the new build from the
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39609. fix is available public. No need to create a support ticket.
This ( current ) thread is related to another issue where , users cannot forward External meeting invitation to internal users. When they forward, they see an error as documented earlier in the discussion thread. This is under
investigation and We've been working on a fix for this issue.

My mistake, I didn't point out to the specific comment made by Brian on
    13 Aug 2013 8:23 AM.
He mentioned that if there is a resolution it would come out with the next CU and not sooner:
"Regarding the meeting forwards item Briam mentions, I would not expect a public hotfix. The Exchange 2013 servicing model only releases Cumulative Updates (on roughly a quarterly basis) and stand-alone security updates. This particular item would not fall
    under the security update category."
I only wanted to know if it there was any chance of it coming out sooner and/or MS needed any more diagnostic info on the matter.
In any case, your comment that MS is working on the issue is reassuring and leads me to believe MS already has enough intel on the matter. Let's hope for a fix in the next CU :)
    Thanks for your update,
    Regards,
    Geno

  • HT2513 How do you forward a meeting invite in ical?

In Outlook, you can forward a meeting invite,I can't seem to find the function in ical.  Can anyone help?

    Possibly,
Looking at iCal version 4, open iCal Help, and after being connected to the server, you will see 'Inviting Guests to an event'. Click on that for information, and also at the bottom of that window in Related topics, is the topic, 'Setting your email address so you can send or modify your event invitations'. That link may also be useful.

  • Lync 2013 meeting invitation customizations not working for some users

    Hello Microsoft TechNet Forms,
I have a strange problem that I am totally stumped on. I made some modifications to the Lync 2013 meeting configuration to add in my company's logo, a footer and set a custom help Lync URL. Now everything seemed to work expect for myself and
one other person I tested with. If I try creating a new Lync 2013 meeting via my Outlook 2013 the normal stock Lync meeting invite appears. Yet testing with any other user everything I have changed appears as expected and I am at a total loss to why.
I have so far from troubleshooting determined it must be something with my account that is causing it but I have just not been able to determine what. As signing into a different machine yields the same result yet testing with another account that is
known to work on the exact same machine works correctly with the different account. I have tired deleting and re-crating my Lync account just in case that had something to do with it but that didn't fix the problem. I have tired repairing Office 2013 to
running windows update on Office 2013 which didn't help.
The changes I made to the meeting configuration are global scoped. I have so far not found anything online from anyone ever reporting a similar issue to this. At this point I am stuck on what I should be looking for with regards to what is stopping
the meeting invite updating for myself and the other person. Given I don't know what mechanism is involved with updating the Lync meeting invite on Outlook 2013 I am stumped. I am open to any suggestions someone might have as to what to do next or what might
be the cause of this problem.
    Nicholas,

    Hi Nicholas,
Can you compare your account with other’s and check if your account is applied any special policy in Lync Control Panel ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How to send meeting invites using Exchange Email Account

Does anybody know how to send meeting invitations using the 3.0 software update?
My corporate email is set up with an Exchange ActiveSync account, but I can't figure out how to send meeting invites?
Is it a function solely of the iPhone 3.0 OS, or is it dependent on the Exchange setup.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    David

That is what I was afraid of...the good thing is that is the only feature (besides battery life) that I miss from my Blackberry. Thanks.

  • Force CalDAV calendar in iCal to send meeting invites via Mail

A handful of people are experiencing issues sending out meeting invite emails via a Google Apps (CalDAV) calendar that is setup in iCal. Meetings are showing up on invitees calendars, but they are not receiving email notifications about them.
Thread on that topic here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=368ec40a6bdd7bb8&hl=en
    and here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2707217&tstart=0
*So, my question is this*: Is there a way to force Mail.app to send out a meeting invitation of a CalDAV calendar that is setup in iCal, instead of using whatever system the CalDAV calendar uses (in my specific case, Google Apps). My assumption is that iCal uses the Mail.applescript or Mail.scpt file that is inside the iCal package (iCal > Show Package Contents > Resources > Mail.applescript) when sending out an invite from a local calendar. Any way to force a CalDAV calendar to use that script?

    I had that problem too.
I changed my mail preferences "Add invitations to iCal" from Automatically to Never and that seems to work for me.
    Hope that helps

  • In ical, how can you tell the difference between a meeting invite and email?

When you send a meeting invite in ical, does the recipient receive a different icon in their inbox to differentiate from an email?

For service stock you can't tell the difference between a new iPad and a refurbished one. Both will come in a plain brown box with the same pattern in model numbers. If you mean between a refurbished one and one new at retail, then other than the obvious difference in packaging, I've read that the model number on refurbished units starts with the letter "F", though I've not confirmed that.
    Regards.

  • ICal, iCloud, and meeting invitation woes

Hi all. Fair warning - I'm brand new to the Mac world. I'm a long-time Windows user who now has a shiny new MacBook Pro, primarily for the benefit of what I can already tell is superior hardware.
On the software side, however, I'm struggling with the migration. I've solved most of my issues, but one is really eluding me. I have Office 2011, including Outlook, but I keep being told by Mac users that Outlook on the Mac is buggy and is inferior to using iCal, Apple Mail, and Address Book. Ok, I'll bite. I've been trying to use these tools as my primary means for handling my mail and calendar needs. This is where I run into trouble.
My world of data, like most people's, is split into two:  work and personal. For personal, I primarly use google tools including google calendar and gmail. For work, I have an IMAP mail system with a work e-mail account, but we have no work-based calendar server. I have an iPad2 and an iPhone4. This is all relevant because what I want is to have mail and events, both work and personal, synchronized and accessible across all my devices over "the cloud." The personal side is easy enough to handle. I added my google calendar to iCal, just like I added it on my phone and iPad, so no worries there. E-mail, similarly, is simple enough. The issue is when I try to figure out how to handle my work calendar.
My first thought was iCloud - but my Apple ID, used by iCloud is based on my personal e-mail account (gmail). I've found that when I try to add an event to my iCloud "work" calendar in iCal and invite attendees (a very very common practice in my business world), the invitation comes from my gmail account and my gmail account is listed as the organizer of the event. This is a huge problem for me. In searching online, people suggest all sorts of different ways of solving this. Re-ordering the e-mail addresses on the "Me" contact card in Address Book. Re-ordering the accounts in Mail. I even went as far as deleting my gmail account from both Mail and Address Book. Nothing works. I'm assuming that because the event is created in iCloud, that the organizer is set to the Apple ID that is associated with the iCloud account, and there seems to be nothing I can do about that.
My second thought was to create another Apple ID and use that one to create a new iCloud calendar for my work life, but I'm under the impression that you can't have more than one iCloud account actively syncing on an iPhone or iPad.
My current solution is to have a calendar that is only "On My Mac" that I create work events on. I've found that if I have Mail set to send new messages, by default, from my work e-mail address, then new meeting invitations on the Mac-only calendar are sent on behalf of my work account, with my work account listed as the organizer. This solution, while working on the Mac itself, does not solve my synchronization issues with my iPhone and iPad. I suppose I could sync through iTunes, but my calendar is so active that I'd really prefer to have a cloud-based solution.
All that being said - is there a cloud-based solution to having both a personal and work calendar, with each calendar being associated with different e-mail addresses? Is there any way to change the e-mail account associated with a specific calendar in either iCal or iCloud? If not, there probably should be!
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hello there.
Exact same situation here. Do you have a solution yet? Also for me its not acceptable to send meeting invitations from my personal account which is also my apple id...

  • Meeting invites no longer show in the notifications pane of iCal

I have been using Snow Leopard since it was released to the public and after a recent update I noticed that I could never see the Exchange meeting invites in the notifications pane. When I looked closer I saw that all the meeting invites were automatically added to the calendar, but they were colored grey (indicating that I had not yet accepted them).
I have searched the web for a solution, but there was just one entry of a similar problem, no solution though. I backed up the plist files for iCal and deleted the ones in System-Winson-Library-Prefrences
as well as the Cache entries for iCal.
Restarted iCal and got a colleague to send another meeting invite to my Microsoft Exchange Calendar. And the issue was still there.
There is no issue though with my iPhone which syncs with the same Exchange Calendar. I get to see the event notification.
I am totally lost and would appreciate help in this regard. This has been driving me bonkers all week!

Looks like 10.6.3 update solves this
    iCal fixes provided for:
changing the invitation list for a single instance of a recurring event will no longer "un-book" the location of the meeting.
an issue in which new invitations on a Microsoft Exchange server might not appear in the Notification pane.
properly showing recurring Microsoft Exchange events which have a set end date. For details, see this article.

  • Sending Calender Meeting Invites no longer working with Hotmail account

    BlackBerry 9700
    v6.0.0.461
    I use Hotmail email
I think this started to fail when I upgraded to the new OS. When I create a new Calender appointment, it no longer shows up in my hotmail calender. If I invite attendees, all they get is a blank email, they no longer get a proper meeting request in their Outlook inbox.
However, if they send me a meeting invite, it is properly recognized on my blackberry.
As best I tried scouring the internet looking at various BB forums, I went into options and deleted my Hotmail email account on the phone. I set it up again and it does not fix the problem.
As far as I can tell, my hotmail account is a now typical account that has pop3 access.
    Thanks.
EDIT: I removed the Hotmail account and added a GMail account. The GMail account workes totally fine with meeting invites. Also, after the creation of the GMail account, there is now a second inbox icon on my BB home screen. This icon is an envelope like the original one but also has a graphic of the world over-layed on top of it that resembles the Browser icon.
However.... my real problem remains... I need this to work with my Hotmail.com address.

Today I noticed that this same thing is happening to me, but with the GMail account... From the other four accounts works fine, but when the appointment is to Google Calendar, the "Atttedees" box dissapears!
