Member selection xml is malformed, can't initialise dialog

Hi,
when I try to use a valid web form in smartview it works, until I try to change the default form variable to refresh data at which point I get; - Member selection xml is malformed, can't initialise dialog
11.1.2.1.00 (Build 271) is my version.
Anyone know a fix?
thanks,
Robert.

Hi again.
On further analysis this only manifests in our Entity dimension, the other dimensions' form variables function as they should.
Is your question about substitution variables aimed at the underlying data content of the dimension, rather than the naming of the form variable, are you indicating that there are certain restrictive characters that if they appear in the data can cause this problem??
If so is " all I need to look for, or are there any other characters (& : )? that can cause problems??
thanks again,
Robert.

    Hi.
I have a dialog screen with 10 fields named

I got the reason for the error. It's because I did not clear the contents of TXT_FILENAME before the next loop.
    LOOP AT SCREEN_INIT INTO SCREEN_INIT_LINE.
    <b>TXT_FILENAME = ''. ==> This solves the problem.</b>

Team , Thanks for looking into this  ..
As a last resort on  optimizing my stored procedure ( Below ) i wanted to create a Selective XML index  ( Normal XML indexes doesn't seem to be improving performance as needed ) but i keep getting this error within my stored proc . Selective XML

EXECUTE sys.sp_db_selective_xml_index; return 1 , stating Selective XML Indexes are enabled on my current database .
Is there ANY alternative way i can optimize below stored proc ?
Thanks in advance for your response(s) !

  • I did the update to 3.6.11 - when it restarted it will not open any pages. When i go to check for updates it gives me this error: Update XML file malformed (200) - Any advice?

I did the update to 3.6.11 - After it started Firefox it would go to the requested site in the addressbar, but the page would be blank. I went to check for updates and it told me there was a problem in updating. It gave me this error message: Update XML file malformed (200)
I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same problem exists.
    Any advice?

For the error message see [[AUS Update XML File Malformed 200]].
As it appears not to be able to load any sites, a possible cause is your firewall blocking the new version of Firefox. For more details see [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]].

    Hi All,
              Appreciate if anyone can help.
I have set up a cluster containing two nodes - one local and other
              remote machine on weblogic 8.1.4
then i install my application this cluster setup its working fine.
for my requirement i upgrade the the weblogic version from 8.1.4 to
              8.1.6 .
i upgrade through the smart update from the bea site . i upgraded both
              the node.

  • Hyperion Financial Reports - Member selection issue

    Hi,
We are using Hyperion suite 9.2.0.3. We get an error during Member selection in POV when executing a book or report. The member selection window looks blank.
We have tried restarting the services of Financial report and Essbase. But no luck.
Can someone help us in getting this issue resolved.
    Thanks,
    Sethu

I'm not sure I have a good answer for you, but in my experience blank screens are usually caused by failing weblogic, apache, or a firewall setting.
You might have better success getting an answer in the Hyperion Query and Reporting forum.

  • Need to restrict some hierarchy in RTP member selection

    Hi There,
We are using on rule which conatins RTP variable. As per our requirement while selecting that RTP varaibale member through member selection window can I restrict the dimension hierarchy to only level 0 members as there are many levels in this dimension and we only want level zero members list to select from them.
I have tried with @levmbrs(dim,0) in Limits section but without success.
    Thanks

Thanks Alp for your prompt reply.
I tried this option but nothing happened.Do you think by using the limit in variables(RTP) the pop up window while launching the rules will contain only the level 0 members as I described in the limit section ?
For example: The dimension hiearrchical structure is as below and I need to show only Entity11,Entity12,Entity21 in the member selection window .Currently it is showing the below structure in the pop up while clicking the member selection icon.
    Entity
    -->Entity1
    ------>Entity11
    ------>Entity12
    -->Entity2
    ------>Entity21

  • Limit member selection based on access in running Hyperion Financial Report

    Hi there
I am wondering, is it possible to limit the member selection in a prompt box based on what access they have when running a Hyperion Financial Report?
I know its possible to limit the user POV based on the members they have access to (in Preferences) but we have a reporting requirement on the page dimension to prompt the user for what cost centres they want to run the report for. When I used a prompt function the user gets to select any cost centre in the "choices" range regardless of whether they have access or not. We just want it to show what cost centres they have access to.
    Thanks

If the datasource is ready only and not writeable for the users, then you can use MetaRead filters for cost centre, which will only show the hierarchies the users have access to.
(You cannot mix Write and MetaRead filters in the same filter, it would be Write and Read).
Let me know if that's an option.
    Cheers, Iain

  • Find Next button is not working in member selection for Smartview V11.1.2.1

    Hello,
    Quite urgent.
When group of users select Smartview --> Member Selection --> "FindNext" or "Find" button is not working.
The same option is working fine with my credentials. But problem exists for set of 3 users.
    Please suggest asap.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Tej

    Hi Iain,
    Thanks for your reply.
    * All 3 users are part of same group.
    * Created user with similar group and checked for member selection option to verify "Find Next" button functionality. It worked fine.
    * Verified filters assigned to this group. No filters are assigned.
    * Checked for version again - Version is V11.1.2.1.00 (Build 271). It is exactly same as other systems where the functionality is working fine.
    * Installation is carried out by company IT team as administrator, so that can not be an issue.
kindly suggest if you have any other inputs to be verified.
    Best Regards,
    Tej

  • Does Member Selection (SmartView) == Retrieve (Excel AddIn)

I just purchased the "Look Smarter.." book and it starts off by referring to a 'Retrieve' function in the Excel Add-In that pulls dimensions, member and associated data-values from an Essbase db (in my case Sample:Basic). I however have the SmartView Add-In running on Excel 2007, and there isn't any 'Retrieve' function that I can see.. The closest I can find is something called "Member Selection" that can be used to pull in dimension/members names. However this does not seem to pull in any actual data for these dimensions/members. I have already loaded the Sample:Basic db with data, so it's in there somewhere. I just need to know how to pull it all into Excel so that I can continue following along with Mr. Roske!
    Appreciate any input.
    thanks,
    Akshay

    Cameron,
I followed your steps EXACTLY, but it only displays the Year and Market dimensions.. no 133980 data value! Just to confirm that I have the correct sequence, I did the following in order:
    1. loaded data.txt into Demo:Basic in EAS
    2. ran an 'Execute Calculation' of the 'default' calc script in EAS.
    3. opened a fresh Excel workbook and connected to Demo:Basic and activated it
    4. clicked on Refresh.
The only other thing that happens is that a little window with drag-and-drop for 'Product' , 'Account' etc. shows up on the sheet. I tried to do a drag-and-drop of these extra dimensions, followed by another Refresh, but still no data value(s) appear.
The funny thing is everything work perfectly when I use the Excel-Addin instead of SmartView! In fact, when I use Excel-Addin, the 133980 shows up even if I don't explicitly run the default calc script. So, I have a feeling that my problem is localized to SmartView.
    thanks,
    Akshay

  • Restrict member access in POV member selection

    Hello all,
I wonder if there is a way to restrict access to certain members in Smart View's POV manager (member selection tool)? For example if a user is assigned a filter in Essbase that restricts his access to an Entity "A", he should not be able to see/select that entity in the member selection in Smart View.
I did some research and browsed the guides but could not find anything related to this special requirement.
    Highly appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks for your help and time.

I have implemented MetaRead as the "standard" for users with read only access at several clients, as most people prefer to see only what they have access to. A good example is European users, don't need to see Asian countries in their geography rollup and vice versa.
It also makes training easier as you don't have to deal with the questions, why can I see Germany/Thailand if I can't see any data.
I suggested FR as an option as once the user has chosen their POV for the first time, it will follow them whenever they open a subsequent report, so they don't have to worry about choosing it.
Although you do lose some ad-hoc abilities with FR - that you can mitigate through the use of expansion on rows/columns. Also the POV is per data source, so if you wished to migrate to new cube for a new financial year, then the POV would need to be chosen again.
The other advantage with FR is you can distribute the same report and have many users, with differing access see different data through their POV and access rights. With Smart View, users would need to chose their POV every time they opened a newly distributed report.
Hope this helps - let me know if you have further questions/thoughts.
    Cheers, Iain

  • Removing Members from Excel Add-in (or Smartview) Member Selection Options

The users of my system have write access to some scenarios, read access to others, and no access to the rest. I would like the Scenarios for which the users have no access to not show up in the member selection options in Excel Add-in (similar to how they will not show up in Forms). Our security settings obviously prevent them from seeing the data itself, but we don't want them to see certain Scenarios at all (even the member names). We've dealt with this issue in Financial Reporting by manually specifying what the POV options are, but we can't do the same with Excel Add-in or Smartview.
Is this possible, or are these Add-ins just not smart enough to interpret the security?

I sugget you look at metaread filters. they would prevent users from seeing members they don't have access to (one exception is they might see parents they don't have access to if they are required to navigate to the hierarchy they do have access to

  • DM Export Base Member Selection -- Need to Use a Filter

    Hi Experts,
Posting a follow-up on this one.  Does anyone know how to run the Data Manager Export package when producing a (relatively) large data set?
The challenge is that when running an Export, you'd want to chose all base-level members in some dimensions.  For example, you might select all Cost Centers in your Costing dimension and in the Data Manager member selector screen, you could simply filter for something like CALC=N or BAS(ALL CostCenters), etc.  ...However, once you click "OK", BPC will return to the Data Manager dialogue and tell you that you have chosen too many members for the dialogue and that you should use a Filter, or your member selections will be truncated.
Also sometimes, you can see in the box the message " [FILTER:  MYFILTER] as this other user noted before (also unanswered question):
    [BPC Export data with filter]
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Garrett

Shot in the dark but worth noting...
Do you have more than 1024 base entities? A common oversight is that your grid setting are set to display only 1024 rows (default) and you have to click on the down arrow in the HFM toolbar to view the next page of rows/entities. You can also increase the # of rows to display in a grid so as to display all rows on the same page.

  • Hyperion Financial Reports:Getting member selection from prompt

    Hello everybody,
I've a doubt on getting the member selection in GRID 2 from the prompt value set in GRID 1.
    Can anyone help me out???
    Regards,
    Revathi

I'm not sure I have a good answer for you, but in my experience blank screens are usually caused by failing weblogic, apache, or a firewall setting.
You might have better success getting an answer in the Hyperion Query and Reporting forum.
