Memory Leak in Input Subsystem 10.3.2.798
See screenshot. After reboot it drops back down to about 50-60MB but after a while it starts climbing again. This is happening on my Classic with 10.3.2.798.
I have 3 languages enabled on mine, English QWERTY, Chinese Handwriting and Chinese Pinyin and switch between them, mostly in the Browser.

Update: The input peaked at 499.3MB yesterday. The memory leak seems to occur when I use ALT+ENTER to switch input methods. System displays the list of input types, but at the same time sends a "Submit" to the underlying text field and address bar and the search starts with no text, with the input menu still displayed. Then at that point it starts to leak memory. Please look into this. I had my device rebooted countless times within a week and never had this before 10.3.2.

I am seeing that my system is piling up char[] (according to netbeans profiler tool). I am running JDK 1.5 on linux, the client and server code look like this. The strings are piling up on the client side only. the allocation tree looks like this:

}I do have another memory leak in the system, what I am trying to determine from this post is if the way I am using read and write object may be contributing to that leak. I was hoping someone would be able to look at the communication code and let me know if I'm properly reseting the streams. Then at the very least I can rule this code out as the problem location and continue tracing the use of the read strings throughout the code.

Memory Leaks Unresponsive Mouse
2009 8 core Mac Pro w/ 24 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon 4870, and a SeriTek PCIe eSATA card (card only has drives connected when running a manual drive clone). When running Toast 10 or Parallels 9, my RAM will fill up (I use a program called Menu Meters to monitor stuff). This machine worked just fine under OS 10.9 and earlier - no issues like this at all. ClamXAV will also completely fill the RAM up (the meter will be full green, instead of part green, then mostly grey when Toast or Parallels fills it up). I have to use Terminal to purge it so that the machine is usable.
The other thing that happens is that sometimes when the computer wakes up or I am in the middle of doing something, the mouse will still move, but the dock will not pop open and the left button the mouse doesn't respond. The right button will open the right click menu, but will not respond normally at all. I have tried a different Magic Mouse, but the problem is the same.
I thought that it may be a problem with the factory RAM and the Kingston RAM not playing nicely together. So I ran it with just the factory 8 GB and then ran it with the Kingston 16 GB - the problem persists no matter which RAM is installed. All of the RAM also passes the memory tests in Rember and TechTool.
So, I need to find out if someone thinks that maybe the bluetooth module may be going bad causing the mouse issues. I also need to find out what is causing the memory leaks. I followed the steps that someone gave on this site to boot into safe mode, repair permissions, reset PRAM, then reset SMC (or the other way around - I did it like they said to). It did nothing to fix the problem.
I need some guidance here. As I stated early on, the machine worked perfectly with OS 10.9. I have WAY too much software that I use, so doing a completely fresh install is out of the question - I don't have time to reload everything. This problem is annoying and I know that I am not the only one having these issues. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Here is the EtreCheck report:

Pro*c multithreaded application has memory leak
Hi there,
I posted this message a week ago in OCI section, nobody answer me.
I am really curious if my application has a bug or the pro*c has a bug.
Anyone can compile the sample code and test it easily.
I made multithreaded application which queries dynamic SQL, it works.
But the memory leaks when i query the SQL statement.
The more memory leaks, the more i query the SQL statement, even same SQL
statement.
I check it with top, shell command.
My machine is SUN E450, Solaris 8. Oracle 9.2.0.1
Compiler : gcc (GCC) 3.2.2
I changed source code which is from
$(ORACLE_HOME)/precomp/demo/proc/sample10.pc
the sample10 doesn't need to be multithreaded. But i think it has to work
correctly if i changed it to multithreaded application.

I have to figure out the problem.

CHAR datatypes have length, but zero precision and
scale. The length is defined at CREATE time.

The 'other' memory space looks to me (from the blank entries in the above print-out) like they are a memory pages to are still not used. When the JVM starts it mappes an amount of memory. To my knowledge JRockit uses mmap (mmap(2) - Linux manual page), which creates a new mapping in the virtual address space. JRockit reserves an amount of memory (Java Heap (heap where your object instances go) + its own runtime (all the others)).
To see where the growth is in the various memory spaces, you can use 'print_memusage baseline', after which you can execute print_memusage again, for example,

Note this is more on the JVM level, in your case in might be beneficial to investigate what is happening on the java heap. By using print_object_summary you can get insight how memory on the heap is used on a per-class basis. To get to the bottom of where the memory leak is you can use the memory-leak-detector (an example of its use can be found here Middleware Snippets: Fast, Faster, JRockit). You can also obtain a heapdump that can be analyzed by using for example MAT (see for an example here Middleware Snippets: Visualizing Class Loading). To obtain a heapdump you can run the command, for example,

Memory leak in Solaris - SunOS 5.7, jre1.3.1
Hi,
I hava a java application that spawns about 100 threads. Each thread sends a request to WebLogic server 6.1. We are using Oracle 8.1.7. They are all running in a Sun box, 2 CPUs and 6gig memory.
JRE = 1.3.1
SunOS = 5.7
Weblogic = 6.1
Oracle = 8.1.7
(All running on the same box)
When we start the client application, running top shows that ,
the client JVM process - uses 40 MB of memory
WebLogic - uses 250 MB of memory
But the available memory comes down drastically (almost by 350 MB), and on bringing both the client and weblogic down, we are not able to get this 350 MB back
Running JProbe, doen not show any memory leak in our application
we are using the hotspot client version
-Xms = 128m
-Xmx = 128m

We want to upgrade our system to 9.0. During the performance test we have found memory Leak problem at ALS 9.0. I explain the detailed problematic issue below. Is there any body who has any suggest?
We have Adobe Livecycle ES2 9.0 SP2 installed on WAS 6.1. But also WAS on Windows Server 2008 R2. We call java web services from .Net Web service for generating PDFs.
On Java side “com/adobe/internal/pdftoolkit/services/javascript/GibsonMemoryTracking” class is causing Memory Leak problem at server.
Our .Net Codes. I copied below. First we generate PDF then we convert this pdf to static pdf.

Custom MediaStreamSource and Memory Leaks During SampleRequested

I have a nasty memory leak problem that is causing me to pull my hair out.
I'm implementing a custom MediaStreamSource along with MediaTranscoder to generate video to disk. The frame generation operation occurs in the SampleRequested handler (as in the MediaStreamSource example). No matter what I do - and I've tried a
ton of options - inevitably the app runs out of memory after a couple hundred frames of HD video. Investigating, I see that indeed GC.GetTotalMemory reports an increasing, and never decreasing, amount of allocated RAM.
The frame generator in my actual app is using RenderTargetBitmap to get screen captures, and is handing the buffer to MediaStreamSample.CreateFromBuffer(). However, as you can see in the example below, the issue occurs even with a dumb allocation
of RAM and no other actual logic. Here's the code:

It usually fails around frame 357, with GC.GetTotalMemory() reporting 750MB allocated.
I've tried tons of work-arounds, none of which made a difference. I tried putting the code that allocates the bytes in a separate thread - no dice. I tried Task.Delay to give the GC a chance to work, on the assumption that it just had no time
to do its job. No luck.
As another experiment, I wanted to see if the problem went away if I allocated memory each frame, but never assigned it to the MediaStreamSample, instead giving the sample (constant) dummy data. Indeed, in that scenario, memory consumption stayed
constant. However, while I never get an out-of-memory exception, RequestSample just stops getting called around frame 1600 and as a result the transcode operation never actually returns to completion.
I also tried taking a cue from the SDK sample which uses C++ entirely to generate the frame. So I passed the buffer as a Platform::Array<BYTE> to a static Runtime extension class function I wrote in C++.
I won't bore you with the C++ code, but even directly copying the bytes of the array to the media sample using memcpy still had the same result! It seems that there is no way to communicate the contents of the byte[] array to the media sample without
it never being released.
I know what some will say: the difference between my code and the SDK sample, of course, is that the SDK sample generates the frame _entirely_ in C++, thus taking care of its own memory allocation and deallocation. Because I want to get
the data from RenderTargetBitmap, this isn't an option for me. (As a side note, if anyone knows if there's a way to get the contents of an RT Window using DirectX, that might work too, but I know this is not a C++ forum, so...). But more importantly,
MediaStreamSource and MediaStreamSample are managed classes that appear to allow you to generate custom frames using C# or other managed code. The MediaStreamSample.CreateFromBuffer function appears to be tailored for exactly what I want. But there appears
to be no way to release the buffer when giving the bytes to the MediaStreamSample. At least none that I can find.
I know the RT version of these classes are new to Windows 8.1, but I did see other posts going back 3 years discussing a similar issue in Silverlight. That never appears to have been resolved.
I guess the question boils down to this: how do I safely get managed data, allocated during the SampleRequested handler, to the MediaStreamSample without causing a memory leak? Also, why would the SampleRequested handler just stop getting called
out of the blue, even when I artificially eliminate the memory leak problem?

In the Memory Usage test under Analyze/Performance and Diagnostics (is that what you mean?) it's clear that each frame of video being created is not released from memory except when memory consumption gets very high. GC will occasionally kick in, but eventually
it succumbs.
Interestingly, if I reduce the frame size substantially, say 320x240, it never runs out of RAM no matter how many frames I throw at it. The Memory Usage test, however, shows the same pattern. But this time the GC can keep up and release the RAM.
After playing with this ad nauseum, I am fairly convinced I know what the problem is, but the solution still escapes me. It appears that the Transcoder is requesting frames from the MediaStreamSource (and the MediaStreamSource is providing them via
my SampleRequested handler) faster than the Transcoder can write them to disk and release them. Why would this be happening? The MediaStreamSource.BufferTime property is - I thought - used to prevent this very problem. However, changing the BufferTime seems
to have no effect at all - even changing it to ZERO doesn't change anything. If I'm right, this would explain why the GC can't do its job - it can't release the buffers I'm giving to the Transcoder via SampleRequested because the Transcoder won't give them
up until it's finished transcoding and writing them to disk. And yet the transcoder keeps requesting samples until there's no more memory to create them with.
The following code, which I made from scratch to illustrate my scenario, should be air-tight according to everything I've read. And yet, it still runs out of memory when the frame size is too large.
If you or anyone else can spot the problem in this code, I'd be thrilled to hear it. Maybe I'm omitting a key step with regard to getting the deferral? Or maybe it's a bug in the back-end? Can I "slow down" the transcoder and force it to release samples
it's already used?

Again, I can't see any reason why this shouldn't work. You'll note it mirrors pretty closely the sample in the Windows 8.1 Apps With Xaml Unleashed book (Chapter 14). The difference is I'm feeding the samples to a transcoder rather than a MediaElement (which,
again should be no issue).

ThanksObject streams cache objects they've read and written. This is so that you don't have to write the same object multiple times if it's referred to multiple times. Let's say that both obj1 and obj2 have references to obj3. When you write obj1, it will also write obj3, and the OOStream will cache both obj1 and obj3. Later, when you go to write obj2, it will notice that it has already written obj2, and not write it again--it will just write a reference of sorts to indicate which already-written object obj2 points to as a member.
I would imagine OIStream must do the same thing. It would have to cache objects it's reading, so that when a "reference" (in the general sense) to a previous object appears, it can behandled properly.
On the OOS side, you can flush the cache by calling reset(). I doubt you can do anything about it in the OIS side. Input's behavior here must be driven by what was output. -
Memory leak with Power Spectrum function

I have a memory leak on my application. By observing with the "Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit", the Power Spectrum function (from NI_AALPro.lvlib) seems to have two "Reference leak".
The first one refers to the function "Open VI reference"; I got around this problem by replacing the "Open VI reference" by an "Initialize" input boolean, but I don't understand the second memory leak.
Any idea ?

Can anyone see what I'm doing to cause a memory leak? I am using LabVIEW 2011 (and this happens in 8.2.1 also).
Is the last Close Ref. needed because there's an allocation evey loop?
Is it bad that there's a buffer allocation on the right side of 'Value2'?

Excel_LV2011_CalcFullk.vi 12 KBI added the last Close Ref. because there is a buffer allocation on the ref. input of the Range node, I couldn't think of anything else to do to reduce memory usage, and the close seems to reduce (but not eliminate) memory leakage.
I have the invoke node in the loop to simulate a more complicated situation that seems to be leaking memory and I want to exaggerate problems here so I know what should and should not be done.
I also suspect that I don't really have a good way of checking for memory leaks. All I do is run the VI(s) and then watch Mem Usage for LabVIEW in my task manager. I see memory usage go up 1.M over about 70 minutes but it usually doesn't go up with other VIs.
Is Is there a better way? Should I make a build of this VI and then use software that finds memory leaks? -
Marshelling Web Service Response Memory Leak
I believe I have found a memory leak when using the configuration below.
The memory leak occurs when calling a web service. When the web service function is marshelling the response of the function call, an "500 Internal Server Error ... java.lang.OutOfMemoryError" is returned from OC4J. This error may be seen via the TCP Packet Monitor in JDeveloper.
Unfortunately no exception dump is outputted to the OC4J log.
Configuration:
Windows 2000 with 1 gig ram
JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 with JAX/RPC extension installed
OC4J 10.0.3
Sun JVM version 1.4.2_03-b02
To demonstrate the error I created a simple web service and client. See below the client and web service function that demonstrates it.
The web service is made up of a single function called "queryTestOutput".
It returns an object of class "TestOutputQueryResult" which contains an int and an array.
The function call accepts a one int input parameter which is used to vary the size of array in the returned object.
For small int (less than 100). Web service function returns successfully.
For larger int and depending on the size of memory configuration when OC4J is launched,
the OutOfMemoryError is returned.
The package "ws_issue.service" contains the web service.
I used the Generate JAX-RPC proxy to build the client (found in package "ws_issue.client"). Package "types" was
also created by Generate JAX-RPC proxy.
To test the web service call execute the class runClient. Vary the int "atestValue" until error is returned.
I have tried this with all three encodings: RPC/Encoded, RPC/Literal, Document/Literal. They have the
same issue.
The OutOfMemory Error is raised fairly consistently using the java settings -Xms386m -Xmx386m for OC4J when 750 is specified for the input parameter.
I also noticed that when 600 is specified, the client seems to hang. According to the TCP Packet Monitor,
the response is returned. But, the client seems unable to unmarshal the message.

Is there a way to ensure that a different Java process is kicked off each time that I display a different report? My current code in c# always uses the same Java process so the memory ramps up. The code to load the report and then dispose of the report through closing the tab (and now the Java process) looks like this:

How to define the memory leak in stability test

Usually, we run our system with 70% CPU load for 72 hours for stability test (on solaris 10), because some plugin of our system is using mtmalloc, and we use prstat to monitor the memory of each plugin. But because of the complex memory usage of our application, we don't know when the application will use the Max memory, and because of the "mtmalloc", the memory showed by "prstat" will not released but continually increased.
So fro the test point of view, there is the risk of memory leak, but actually, there may be no memory leak, so my question is how to define the memory leak in such condition.kevin wrote:

permanent area (where classes are loaded), or you've exhausted the java
help space.
I'd start by adding -verbose:gc. Look at the gc messages right before
you hit the OutOfMemoryError. If there's plenty of space left, I'd
suspect you're running out of perm space. Search these newsgroups and
the web for MaxPermSize, and you should see plenty of info.
If you're running out of java heap, tools like jprobe and OptimizeIt
are
helpful. If you can tell me a little more about your application and
how you're testing it, I can offer some more tips.

Memory leak in Jeditorpane.setText method while displaying html content
I tried to display a larger size html page using JeditorPane. But I found that there as a huge memory leak after JEditorPane's setText method was called.

The html i am trying to display is similar to the one below.But the original content almost 10 times bigger than this html content and it has only td and tr tags. and for this file the leak is about 4 MB and if I use the file 10 times bigger than this it is 40M .
Any suggestions how to avoid this memory leak?
