Menu Widget help

Using CSS and a body ID per page, how can I tweak the menu
widget to highlight the page I'm on? It's a standard CSS trick, but
I can't get it to work with the widget. You just ad an ID to the
body, and extend the rules to apply only to a particular page. But
no matter what I do, the widget classes overrwite my changes. Is
there some way to do this?
I can't be the first person to want to do this...
Thanks
Doug

I'm not all that fond of Suckerfish :-) I like this approach
better, as
it degrades better and the script is a lot more
straightforward:

It's a horizontal list. Esssentially the same type of
construction as
the root. The problem with dropdown menus is that you more
than likely
want the links to be blocks - to appear and behave like
images. If they
are declared as blocks, then their boxes can certainly be
made to
collapse, but it will look funny. If you don't want them to
be blocks,
then they can conform to the least wide link lext, but it
will not look
too pretty.

  • Help with manual mode of Menu Widget in Muse

    I'm building a family web page in Muse and I'd like to create a menu of my secondary webpages only. Since the Menu Widget's "menu type" options are Top Level pages, All Pages (neither option will work for me), and Manual- it seems like I should be able to use "Menu Type: Manual" and simply type in the menu items I would like- which I've done. What I can't figure out is how to link those menu items I manually created to the sub pages of my website.
    A bit of background on my website structure. My top Level sites are: Welcome, and then 3 separate pages for each family member- and each member page has a few secondary pages (about, photos, contact):
    Welcome
    Member 1
    about
    photos
    contact
    Member 2
    about
    photos
    contact
    Member 3
    about
    photos
    contact
    My main site navigation- i.e. the menu widget for top level pages- is above my header (Light Gray). Below my header, I would like a horizontal or bar menu for ONLY the sub pages of that member: ie. About Member 1, Member 1's Photos, Contact Member 1 (Dark Gray)
    I've created a menu widget in the Manual mode- I just can't seem to figure out how to link each menu option to the correct page. Currently in preview none of these manual menu items work.
    Thanks!
    LScarff

    Hi Scarff.
    When you opt to use manual mode for the Menus, you need to manually link the pages to menu items. To achieve this , you need to have the menu item selected and then using hyperlink option as shown in below screenshots link the corresponding page to it :
    I hope this helps.

  • Menu Widget Serious Help Needed

    Aloha!
    I have searched diligently and the few topics I found did not really address the problem concerning with the 'alignment' of submenus when using the menu widget.
    This is my site structure:
    I inserted the menu widget and configured it to display 'all' pages:
    I then chose to 'vertially left align' the submenus which in Adobe muse looks absolutely perfect.
    But then I previewed it in the browser:
    I tried checking is page name on the site structure to make sure there isn't any accidental spaces that could cause it. But as you can see, it is perfect within Adobe Muse but then misaligns when previewed on a browser (Chrome).
    Is there a possible fix? Or work around?
    Please do not include solutions from the following thread as I have already tried them: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1043069?tstart=0
    Mahalo Adobe Team for your hardwork!

    Choosing text alignment has no effect on the positioning whatsoever. I think that this issue only occurs when using a menu that uses distributed spacing for the menu size. I can move the submenu over by altering the x value of its position but it immediately will snap back to alignment with the left side of its parent menu button. And getting all of the submenus to be of the same graphical styles and states can also be a nightmare. I think this whole menu system really needs to be rethought with a lot more options and flexibility.  The creative flow is destroyed with such painstaking issues as these.

  • How to set up slider mobile menu widget on master and pages of mobile website in Muse

    Adobe Muse Slider Mobile Menu Widget by MuseThemes
    I am new to mobile website design and Muse, I love this widget, but I am not sure how to set it up on multiple pages.
    Do I put it on the master? Content covers it when it is on master, so I could use some help.
    Thanks so much, anyone know of tutorials or can anyone give me a game plan to set up. thanks so very much!

    Thanks, my issue was that the content was in front of the navigation menu see screen shot (taken in preview in Muse)

  • Is it possible to make an  animated drop down menu  and still use  the menu widget?

    Hi- I am trying to create a menu bar that is hidden with just a tab exposed  to indicate that there is a menu  there. Upon  rollover,  the full menu bar slides down and reveals the menu items.  I can't find a way to make it smoothly  slide down so I settled for the Photoshop button and just moved the button position in Photoshop to fake it.    The problem is  now I need to find a way to still use the menu widget along with this.  if that can't be done,  can I use the Photoshop button and populate the menu there and abandon the menu widget?
    Someone suggested using  Edge Animate ( why the hell is this a separate  software from Muse?)  to make the animation.  If that's a possibility,  can the menu widget be used with the Edge file that's imported?  please help me get to where I need to go  however it needs to happen!  Thanks in  advance.
    Here's a link to a screenshot of my menu: http://www.groovindj.com/menu.jpg

    Ok, thanks! I have another way to do what I'm trying to do, I just thought it might be better to do it this way. Obviously I was wrong!
    Thanks again!

  • Create hidden submenu from Manual Menu Widget.

    I am trying to create a hidden submenu that will pop up when a user rolls over one of my top-level menu items, and will go away when they roll out of the target box. I am using a Manual Menu Widget, and I'm having issues with this. I've tried using Composite widgets to achieve this, but I must be doing something wrong. I program the targets to what I think are the correct settings, basically trying to make it invisible on standalone, and then turn into a submenu when its trigger is rolled over.. Unfortunately, when rolling over the trigger nothing shows up, and only when I roll over the target box does anything happen. Can someone please tell me if there is an easier way to achieve these results, and if not, help me correct my process?

    I have a sample for you hope it helps http://www.mediafire.com/download/mbmrstiypphe8mc/menu_rollover.muse

  • Dreamweaver menu widget mouse over

    Hi
    I'm trying to get my head around the menu widget in CS3 and thing are progressing ok.
    Things are progressing, but I have two small questions relating to this screenshot: http://www.violetmount.com/August/menu.png
    1. How can I only make the menu appear when I move the mouse over to it?
    2. Is there any way to have the top menu cell transparent?
    The first one is probably the most urgent at the moment! All the examples I've seen have the menu sitting there all the time, whereas I could do with it working like the menu bar in applications.
    Thanks
    Alexis

    Is it the roof or the driver's side window?It's where the 2 meet - it's a t-bar roof
    If is the window, try to determine if the seal
    between the window glass and the door frame is
    somehow messed up- bent, dirty, something that
    prevents a tight seal. You'll need to fix that, if
    that is the cause.There is no door frame!
    Like I always say, you can never have enough
    lubrication. Use some clear silicone spray on the
    window seal. Same with the door-to-frame seal.Ah, interesting. Thanks
    (this is actually the cure for said woes, so you've inadvertently set a dangerous precedent here!)
    If it is the roof itself, you'll have to perform
    similar investigations to determine the source of the
    leak.
    Hope that helps.It has, thanks!

  • Menu widget (horizontal) space between buttons

    How do I get spaces between navigation buttons on the horizontal menu widget?
    In the basic Katie video, she does this as a "pre-set". Then in the advanced video it shows up in the images with no discussion. Thanks for helping.

    Hello,
    You can either choose to use manual menus for this and place the menu as per your requirement, or you can use the "uniform spacing" option in the item size section of menu options for some spacing between the menu items.

  • Menu widget not responding ever 8 seconds for another 8 seconds

    Hi there,
    I have purchased Muse template and have build website with Muse CC (2014) (www.janka-photograhy.ch)
    It's one page template with scrolling effects on it.
    On every page except from "Home" I have horizontal menu widget. Now, on next page (Über mich)
    menu stops responding after 8 seconds for another 7-8 seconds and then functioning normaly again for
    8 seconds and so on. This only happens on "Über mich" page. On every other page (Angebot, Galerie, Kontakt)
    everything works fine. Any ideas why is this happening?
    Thanks a lot.
    Dalibor
    P.S. Problem is arises in Firefox, but not in IE.

    I can reproduce it on my Mac with Safari. Hovering across the menu, it becomes un/responsive every 7, 8 seconds.
    What says the developer of your widget?
    It doesn’t help, but it is a really nice site you designed!
    I would try the following:

  • Problem with Vertical Menu Widget in Muse

    Using the vertical menu widget in Muse, I want to make the submenu pop up under the parent item. The default action is to pop up to the right. How do I override this?

    Thanks for posting this question - I too had this question, and I think I found a way to do this.  Try using the "Padding" feature located on the Spacing panel.  Looks like you can use this tool to move the location of the sub-menu group,  Just make sure you have the sub-menu's selected first.  Seems to have worked for what I was wanting to do.  Hope this helps!
    I will be posting a "new feature" request involving the menu widget, later on today.  Check back later and vote in favor.

  • Ideas for improvements in and additional flexibility for the menu widget

    Recently in the Muse help forum, I discussed in great detail some current limitations in the menu widget, along with some detailed suggestions for future features that would both solve these limitations and increase its flexibility. I hope the Muse team will take a moment to read through this discussion and consider these ideas: http://forums.adobe.com/message/6073318#6073318

    Hi Chuck,
    I just wanted to assure you that we on the development team have followed your thread. We have a long list of improvements we'd like to make to the menu widget. Most of the items you raised were already on our "to do" list. The one item I specifically added from your thread was the observation that it would be helpful to be able to set the alignment for the entire menu bar in order to control the direction the menubar grows/shrinks as top level pages are added/removed in Plan view. (The need for additional alignment/positioning controls for individual menu items and submenus was on the list.)
    Thank you for your continued thoughts on how we can improve Muse. If you'd like more insight into upcoming changes, the Muse Private Beta Program is open to any active subscriber who can accept the terms of the Non-disclosure Agreement. You can join via the Help menu in Muse. (The program is currently dormant, as we're between releases, but it will become active again soon.)

  • Menu Widget States on Sub Pages?

    Quick question:
    how do I preserve states while on sub pages within a navigation structure?
    for example:
    site has 4 pages: home, services, portfolio, contact
    page services has 4 sub pages: A, B, C, D.
    Menu widget links to top level navigation, providing 4 buttons.
    when on ../site/services the active state is present
    but, then on .../site/services/C the active state is gone.
    menu is located in the master page.
    i would like it so that when i visit ../site/services and then any subsequent subpages, the menu active state is preserved until i move to another top level page (home, contact, etc).
    Your insight is appreciated.

    Hello,
    If the A,B,C,D pages are child pages (sub pages) to the "services" page that is appearing as the top level page for these four pages, then changing the menu type from "Top Level Pages" to "All Pages" should do the trick and the top level page should stay on the active state while it's sub pages are visited.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • Menu Widget navbar overlapping

    Hi
    I used the menu widget to make a vertical navbar, and it has submenus. I added the menu to the Master page so that it goes across all the pages.
    I added some pages and need to edit the submenu appearance, but in the master page, the submenus are overlapping and i am not able to edit the "buttons".
    I cant hide the sub-menus in order to edit them to match the previous child pages.
    Seriously do not understand why this is such a giant pain the behind to use and interface with in order to edit.
    Thanks in advance,
    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,
    If you have multiple child pages under adjoining parent pages, it may at times end up with overlapping submenus when the vertical menu is placed initially. However, you can hide all submenus and then just open the one you want to work with by clicking on a top level menu item a few times. Please refer to this short video: https://grabb.worldsecuresystems.com/SubMenuEdit.swf
    Hope this helps.

  • Lost Spry Menu Widget Code

    Please help -
    I have somehow lost the code that allows me to use the SPry
    menu widget to edit my horizontal spry menu. The drop down menu I
    created for my site template using the Spry menu bar works fine and
    my page looks great when I preview. But now widget no longer
    exists. I still have all my original spry assets and CSS. It looks
    like I may have to recreate the page and drop downs all over again
    - -is there a way to "reimport" the spry assets and css to save
    time in recreating my page? Any idea why my widget code got
    deleted?

    You could change this part of the css file for the menu in
    your spry assets folder.
    SpryMenuBarVertical.css
    Try changing the 95% to -95%.
    /* Submenus should appear slightly overlapping to the right
    (95%) and up (-5%) with a higher z-index, but they are initially
    off the left side of the screen (-1000em) */
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul
    margin: -5% 0 0 95%;
    padding: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 100%;
    position: absolute;
    z-index: 1020;
    cursor: default;
    width: 8.2em;
    left: -1000em;
    top: 0;
    Also change this for the pointer gif that shows. Its in the
    SPryAssets folder also.
    Change the 95% to 2% and you can use Photoshop to flip the
    image to point to the right, or left direction.
    /* Menu items that are open with submenus have the class
    designation MenuBarItemSubmenuHover and are set to use a "hover"
    background image positioned on the far left (95%) and centered
    vertically (50%) */
    ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemSubmenuHover
    background-image: url(SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: 95% 50%;
    }
