Menuitem enable Flex 2

I am positive this has to be simple. How can you
programmatically disable/enable a menuitem in Flex 2. I have been
beating my head against the wall for two hours now. Any help would
be appreciated. Thanks so much for any help!
CurtKauf

1) get a reference to the node using an e4x expression:
var xmlMenuItem:XML =
xmlMyMenu..menuitem.(attribute('label')=='whatever')[0]
2) set any attribute you want:
xmlMenuItem.@enabled = true;

  • [RDE] How do you control menuitem enabling/visibility when extending RDE?

I'm beginning the process of writing additional plug-ins for RDE, and I'm trying to figure/find out how I can control how menuitems are enabled, or even prevent them from showing, dynamically (as I would in Eclipse, for instance).  Right now, it seems like once you register an editor as being capable of editing a given file extension it always shows up in the context menu, but I'd like to be able to control that based on various settings and/or based on the content of that file. Is there an existing mechanism for doing so? If not, could you point me at the code I would need to modify in order to add such a mechanism?

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • Enabling flex time speeds up my track

    Hi guys,
I have this problem with some frequency.  I enable the purple "Flex time" button for a track, and the track instantly slows down.  Here's a screenshot that sort of shows what happens:
As you can see, just clicking that purple button slows the track considerably.  I want to start editing with the track at the existing speed.
There are no flex markers in the track
I've tried Edit->Tempo->Remove Tempo Information From Audio File and it had no effect on the behavior

    Hi Thi Thach,
You're having the same problem as me. You'll be happy to know that I solved my problem.
(Albeit at the expense of keeping my Mac user profile linked to my Apple ID)
The shutdown delay is due to a file called:
    "com.apple.coreservices.appleid.authentication.plist"
It is located in the folder:
    "/System/Library/LaunchAgents/"
You have to trash that file (the OS will ask you for the admin password) and then restart the system. After that, all shutdowns will become very fast as there will be no 20-second delay.
This file is responsible for linking your user profile on the Mac with your Apple ID. Apple gives you the option of linking them so that if you forget your login password on the Mac, you can reset it by using your Apple ID.
Once you trash that file and restart the system, if you go to "Users & Groups" under "System Preferences" and look at your user page, you will find that the system forgot your Apple ID that you associated with your user profile. Instead, next to where it says "Apple ID" on your user page, you'll find a button called "Set". If you set it again to your Apple ID, the shutdown delay will come back.
If it's important for you to keep your Mac user profile and your Apple ID linked, then don't trash the file and just live with the shutdown delay.
Of course, this process is fully reversible: You can always return the file where it belongs and restart and you'll be right back where you started.

  • Enabling FlexUnit in FB4 Standard (aka Adobe Greed)

I was unpleasantly suprised that after prurchase of CS 5 Web Premium, I did not get a FB Premium with it. So after already paying more than I did for Mac Book Pro with all the dev tools and OS included, Adobe decided they need some more, so I should pay $500 extra to upgrade my Flash Builder, which Adobe obviously doesn't regard as something essential to Web Development, hence not included in the Web Premium collection.
OK, sorry for the rant against a greedy corporation that does everything to undermine itself and our beloved "Flash Platform", my question is this. How do I enable Flex Unit inside FB standard? Is there any workflow I could use?

Have you read the following article about using FlexUnit in FlashBuilder?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashbuilder/using/WS27ECA937-059A-4308-A2E2-F3A3AAB64337.html #WSbde04e3d3e6474c449dd933b124d5875e4e-8000
I like to run individual test cases in FlashBuilder.  And with Ant, I like to run all test cases.  But I am not sure if you have this option with the Standard version.  Looking at this chart (click on the Version comparison tab) that version doesn't have "FlexUnit support".  If only the Premium version has FlexUnit support within the IDE, then I would say its worth the upgrade.  However the reason why I choose Premium over Standard was for the Network monitor.  Sadly, I never got the Network Monitor to work (see here).  If Network Monitor is the only option needed to upgrade, then I would recommend using a third party HTTP monitor.
Update:  Although $500 is a lot to upgrade.  I would look into perhaps using Ant to run your test cases if your IDE doesn't support it.  See if you can work efficiently in that environment.  If its cumbersome, then perhaps at that point in time you can justify spending $500 for the upgrade.

  • Flex editing without quantizing

Is there any way to use Flex and ignore the song tempo? I don't want my music to snap to logic's grid, i just want to move transients forward or backward in time.
I tend to record without a click and with constant tempo variations. Can I still use Flex?
Also I like to use beat mapping after the fact to align Logic's grid to follow my performance. With this, all synced effects, like delays, follow my performance. But if I then want to go in and move a few transients around, I enable Flex and all is out of wack.
Is there a way to use Flex with Beat Mapping?
    Thanks
    Message was edited by: JoeBeans

Beat Mapping prior to Flex's transient analysis totally wrecks Flex. I just wasted several hours because of this but I think I found a solution.
Since you don't want to throw away your tediously created Tempo Map:
    - disable Flex
    - Select All Audio FIles in the Arrangement
    - choose +Options>Tempo>Remove Tempo Information from Audiofile+
    - choose +Options>Tempo>Export Tempo Information to Audiofile+
This first clears the default, constant Tempo from the files (it got embedded probably when you imported them into an empty song) and then writes the current Tempo Map into the files.
Now, enabling Flex will re-analyze the files according to the new Tempo Map and no more shift should occur unless you actively create it.
Tell me if this works for you.

  • Looking for a Flex module to do Login, Registration, and License management

I'm looking for an open-source or commercial Adobe Flex module to do user Login, Registration, and License management. The back-end can be either on my site (PHP and MySQL) or secure 3'rd party site.
User Interface would have the following:
    Register (new user)
    Log-in (registered user)
Purchase a new license (logged-in user)
Apply the license to enable Flex app features (logged-in user)
    Any suggestions are appreciated,
    OutputLogic

I've seen Flex login components out there, but I'm pretty sure you'd end up customizing the heck out of them to work with your app and back-end server. It may be faster to look at some examples and roll your own to suit.
"purchasing a license" ... Take a look at PayPal's site for instructions on how to use their payment gateway in your app. It is pretty straightforward.
"enable Flex app features"... I would store the license information on the server, along with the user's account information. Then when they load the Flex app, a simple license check (during login) could enable certain protected views within the app.

  • FLEX function Dont' work

I tried various ways to mach the tempo of a loop to my project and it just don't do it. Watched them videos here online, it all looks so simple but when I try in my logic it just don't work. I can see when i select flex and then slice the loop still don't get stretched to the end of the bar. Moving each
transient seems like too much work and its not always possible with some samples.

    Indeed
Are you sure you're observing something in the Sample Editor? Because I have a feeling that you are looking at a waveform in a region while playing it in the Arrange window, and you are calling that "sample editor." Or if that's not what you mean, I don't know what you mean. If you're auditioning a loop in the sample editor, it will either sound right or not. It will not "start going off the beat more and more further from the first beat." Those words sound like a description of something that happens in the Arrange window, not the Sample Editor.
I believe that what we are talking about here is how the Sample Editor does not reflect any changes made due to Flex in the Arrange (or length changes due to Appleloop tempo matching for that matter).
    Try this:
New project, tempo set to 130bpm. Import 1 Appleloop (as an example Bar Band Basic 01 (drumloop). Cancelling the 'Tempo' alert, the loop conforms to the tempo in the Arrange and is 1 bar long.
Now open the Sample Editor.... the loop appears to be approximately 5 beats long, yet when you audition in the Sample Editor, it plays correctly.
In the Arrange, enable Flex, and Flex timestretch the region such that it is 4 bars long using the methods discussed earlier. In the Sample Editor, the appearance of the FILE is the same.
Try the same thing with any piece of audio (not an Appleloop). Note that this time, to get the audio to play in time in the Arrange, it may be necessay to Flex 'timestretch' to make it conform to tempo.
No Flex adjustments made in the Arrange are reflected in the Sample Editor.
    CCTM wrote:
When you adjust the length or position using Flex in the Arrange, all this happens in realtime on playback. The original file is unaltered. You will therefore NOT see any effect of Flex length adjusting or editing in the Sample Editor.

  • Cant hear real instruments on playback in Garage band

Can anyone tell me why I can't hear the real instruments in my song in garage band version 5.1 on macbook. I could hear everything while recording the tracks and the last time I listened to the song but now all I can hear are the software instruments. I can see the WAV data and the VU meters are moving on every track. I opened up a different song and I could here the real instrument on it. All settings etc are the same , nothing is solo'd, ? ! Any ideas please ? !

In the new GarageBand the quantize is per region.
For a real instrument region open the Track editor.
Select the "track" tab and click "Enable Flex"
Select the "Region" tab and you will see the "quantize" control.

  • Tempo change for a sample

I'm having trouble matching the tempo of a sample song to match the drum loops. I tried to use the "Adjust tempo using region length and locators" but it does not give an accurate tempo for the song. I just need the sample to match the loops, any thought?

    Hi,
if you have a longer part, you can use the plugin metering->BPM counter to check which tempo your sample song has. Now, you can open up the sample editor and use time&pitch machine to make an adjustment between the original tempo and your desired target tempo. However, you'll need to fit your edited sample song to the drum groove, so after you have done the rough tempo change, enable flex mode, change to flex view and drag the waveform around so that the transients hit each other exactly at the same beat - you can use flex view to do the fine tuning.

  • How can I add vocal effects other than the 9 Voice options? (I can't shift pitch)

    Hello!
I am making the switch from PC and am just trying to lower the pitch of a vocal track by at least an octave; I just got a MBP last week and am running GB 10.0.2. I can't find any info on similar problems that is helpful; most solutions I've come across show that when the track is selected, there should be a pitch shift bar with a sliding button, but I do not have that. I read a lot of people saying something about the track being purple or not, but I'm not sure if that's relative to the version I have or if that has anything to do with what's happening. When I select the track, in the little area toward the lower left when "Track" is selected, (what is that space called?) where the pitch shift option is for other people, I only have a sliding bar for Pitch Correction, and a checkbox for Limit to Key and Enable Flex. When "Region" is selected, it just shows the name of the region and there are no options. Another question I have is how to change the pitch of midi sounds? When the keyboard is open on the screen I have tried moving the little octave shifter, but it assigns the sounds that are on the keyboard at different locations if I move it, so it changes the sound completely. A couple of them shift one octave up or down, but there are no actual controls..
I'm mostly just dabbling with EDM/trap/Hiphop tracks at the moment, but am confused about whether or not there are other vocal effects and controls other than the preset Voice options in the instrument area (Bright vocal, Classic vocal, compressed vocal, Edge vocal, etc.)? I'm not going to be using GB forever, but are there not any other options like for current rap/trap production (phaser, balance, EQ, auto tune, choppers, actual voice altering effects, etc.) [preferably without buying extra things]? And not only vocals, but editing effects for all sounds.. If so, how do I get to them? And if not I know I should at least be able to lower or raise the pitch of a vocal recording... There are some pretty legit electronic instruments that are exactly the kind of sound I'm going for so I was surprised to not see an equally simple to access vocal effects board or something. Any additional tips for a n00b electronic music producer would also be greatly appreciated! Thank you for any help!

In GarageBand 10 you can no longer change a track with an audio file to a "purple" audio recording, as it has been possible in GarageBand '11.
Even, if you can make the transpose slider visible by enlarging the the track editor panel, the slider will be disabled.
What you can do however, is either add an AuPItch filter  from the audioUnit panel or to convert your audio file to loop and to admit from the Loop Browser.
In the new GarageBand you add the AuPitch filter from the Smart Controls.
Enlarge the SmartControl panel by dragging the dividing line upwards, until you see the Audio Units brick, then add an Apple Audio Unit and set it to AuPitch.
Or create a loop from the audio file. Select the region in the track and use the command "File: Add region to Loop library". You need to trim the filet an exact number of measures.
Set the current key and tempo, name the loop, and save the loop. Make sure, that one-shot loop is not enabled.
Now add it from the loop browser to a new track and delete your old track. The search field in the Loop browser will help you to find the loop quickly.
You will be able to transpose the sample  like any regular loop.

Can anyone tell me how to slow down a commercial track in Garage band 10.00  I was able to do this in the earlier version of Garage Band quite easily and it is a good tool for being able to teach new dances, but I find I am unable to do it in the new version, which has just been updated.  I would be grateful for any help.

    Just found it.
Select your track with song imported from iTunes, open the Track Editor window, and in the head of the track editor  and press the "Flex" marker. Make sure "Enable Flex" is set,
Then change the tempo of your project.

  • Region transpose slider missing

Dear all - I want to transpose a loop / recorded region but the +-12 Semitone slider does not show up. I select the region, open the editor but can only see a grey field with the name of the region - no transpose slider. Can anybody help or give a hint - thank you so much!

    Select theTrack Editor.
Select the audio track in the track area and then the audio region in that track.
Click the "Region" tab in the head of the track editor.
If the "Transpose" slider does not show, enlarge the track editor pane by dragging the dividing line to the track region upward.
If the "Transpose" slider is unresponsive, enable Flex for the track and "Follow Tempo and Pitch"

  • EXS 'send to sampler' question.

OK so I've started doing remixes where I'm bringing all the audio into a project and using the new logic 9 'send to sampler' to chop up the beats etc.
This is all great, but I also want these new sampler instruments to appear in my main EXS library so I can use them on other projects, but when you pull up a new project they don't appear, they only appear within the project they were created for.
I mean I could transfer them all manually, but it's a bit long winded. Therefore has anybody found a way of shifting these temporary EXS files to their main library permanently within logic itself?

    Bill,
not sure but you might find the below info illuminating; picked this up at the Digital Village Blog http://blog.dv247.com/logic-9-review-convert-sampler-instrument/2842/
"A few important things to note here:
When converting to a Sampler Instrument, there are two choices: By Transient Markers or by Regions. The behaviour is significantly different for each method.
Transient markers are automatically created when Flex mode is enabled, converting to Sampler Instrument by transients, or enabling Transient Editing mode in the Sample Editor. These transient markers may not be exactly where you want them. The only way to adjust this is through the Sample Editor.
The Sampler Instrument produced does not make individual samples (slices), it merely creates zones which have the Start time offset to produce the desired effect. These zones reference the original audio file, which is probably stored in with your project (assuming that you have ’saved with assets’). More on this later.
If no Project folder has previously been created, the resulting Sample Instrument (.exs) file is stored in the default Logic directory (users:Music:logic), and the EXS file merely references the original audio file, wherever it may be stored. If the Project has been saved “with assets”, but not with ‘Copy exs instruments or samples to Project Folder’ ticked, the EXS instrument file is still created, but the audio sample is still referencing the audio file in the project folder, not any separate sample file. Saving the project with ‘Copy Exs inst. & Samples’ ticked does indeed copy the audio (sample) and the exs instrument to new directories within the project folder.
If you slice the region by transients (by first enabling Flex mode, then using the contectual menu to “Slice by Transients” (or the old Strip Silence method), and then convert to a Sampler Instrument using the ‘by regions’ function, the individual regions are converted to new audio files which are separately referenced by the EXS instrument produced. The above comments regarding the resulting audio files, sampler instruments and any samples still apply.
The crucial issue with all of this is that the exs instrument is not added to your main sampler library, and the samples remain in the project folder. One could easily lose these Instruments and samples! To be of more general use, it is necessary to open the EXS Instrument Editor for the relevant sampler instruments, and use the ‘Export Sampler Instrument and Sample files’ function to save them into your main sample library.
    Hope this helps

  • Changing the tempo of multitrack drums

    Hi guys,
I am a Scandinavian songwriter-producer and I'm in the middle of an important project that will be mixed in about a week. We recorded the drums originally at the tempo of 145, but decided to change the tempo to 152 (yeah, it's a drastic change). I haven't got much time left till the mixing, but the drums are still at the wrong tempo and thus need to be recorded again or tweaked to the correct tempo if that's possible. To be able to re-record them I'd need to pack all my recording equipment (mixer, preamps, mics, stands etc.) and travel a long way to a different town, which I'd obviously love to avoid if possible.
Since it's possible to move and quantize audio (also multitrack drums) in Logic, Pro Tools and Melodyne, I was wondering if the tempo can be changed naturally enough as well. I guess Melodyne won't work because there are 14 drum tracks and Melodyne only supports up to eight tracks. This would leave me with Logic and Pro Tools. Does anyone know if one works better than the other or if either works well enough? How do I do this so that the phases remain the same? I use Logic much more than Pro Tools, so it'd be great if this could be achieved within it, but I don't mind going into Pro Tools if that's required to get the job done.
    Thank you so much!
    Toni

    Hi
If you are on Logic 9, Flex should take care of this. Group the tracks, and *IMPORTANT* set the tempo to the original recorded tempo, then enable Flex on the tracks.
You should then be able to change the tempo as required.
