Merge columns with javascript

Hello,
I have a report with a characteristic and 3 attributes. I want to join/merge these 3 attributes with javascript so that they are shown in the report in 1 column. I want to solve this problem with javascrípt in the WAD.
2 Questions:
1. Is this a good idea to do this with javascrípt in the WAD?
2. If yes, is there some example code or good documentation?
thanks
Robert

that's impossible, because with using report designer I cannot navigate in the report anymore.

  • Linking Data Merge Field with JavaScript for PDF link

    Hello everyone,
    I am using the data merge in InDesign to generate a PDF with data from a data source file. The data merge will populate a Product Number field. I want to write a script that will modify the Product Number field to contain a JavaScript Link in the resulting PDF.
    For example, the product number [1234-567] will launch: app.launchURL("plsddr://localhost/1234-567|*", true); when the Product Number link is clicked on in the resulting PDF.
    Can anyone provide an example on how this could be done, or point me in the right direction? If there is a better way to go about this, please let me know.
    Thanks!

    What findText returns is a list of Text, but that's totally interchangeable with Word. It appears InDesign can switch at will between Characters, Words, Lines, Paragraphs, and Stories.
    Text can consist of one single SpecialCharacter (a column break, or a hard return, or any of the SpecialCharacters enumeration), or of a standard JavaScript "String" object -- a simple Unicode string.
    The property that 'holds' the text is "contents" -- so, adding all of this up, to 'get' the text that has been found, you'd typically use
    next = list.pop();
    alert ("The text contents of this one is '"+next.contents+"'");
    and you can build further on that -- using it as a HyperlinkDestination URL, or something like that. The Text item -- 'next' -- still points to the 'live' text it was found at, so be careful not to modify it. Doing something like
    next.contents = 'hey what happened';
    will change the actual text in your document. But it's also useful to add, for example, a hyperlink to the actual position this text was found on.
    (A tip regarding changes: if you are to change your document, the original items findText pointed to will be messed up after you changed the first one! To prevent that, work backwards from the last item found to the first. findText(true) will reverse the order of found items, from last to first -- see the JS Help on that.)
    As for
    (Also, how do you print the contents of a Word object?)
    that depends on what you mean with 'print' . To a printer?

  • How can I update a Site Column with the content of an array with javascript CSOM?

    I'm relative new to Sharepoint 2013, I'm trying to update the content of a Site column with the content of an array, I can retrieve and visualize the content of my site column, the user is able to change and save the necessary part and the changes are

    Let's look at your stylesheet -
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
    background-image: url(assets/images/Business%20Men%20In%20Reception%20Col.2.jpg);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-color: #003;
    margin-left:auto;
    margin-right:auto;
    position: relative;
    width: 960px;
    It's a good idea not to use spaces or any punctuation in your filenames when working for the web.
    #header {
    margin-left:auto;
    margin-right:auto;
    position: relative;
    width: 960px;
    #heading {
    font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
    font-size: 36px;
    font-style: italic;
    font-variant: normal;
    margin-left:auto;
    margin-right:auto;
    There's no need to specify the default values (font-variant:normal) or to specify auto margins for any block element without an explicitly defined width. And wouldn't it make more sense to put the font style on the body tag, where it will inherit into the rest of the page than to restate it as you have done in the next rule?
    #bodytext {
    font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
    font-size: 18px;
    line-height: 25px;
    font-variant: normal;
    width: 300px;
    #container {
    width: 960px;
    position: relative;
    margin-left:auto;
    margin-right:auto;
    .rightimg {
    float: right;
    margin-left: auto;
    padding-right: 40px;
    #heading #navbar ul li {
    padding: 30px;
    </style>
    Margin-left:auto can't work without knowing what the width of the element is....  Keep your CSS lean and targeted - it will help you to debug your layouts.

  • I need to change the sum of a column's total with javascript.

    Hi,
    The HTML output of a SUM column is as follows:
    <td align="center" headers="COST" class="t2data"><b> 827.49</b></td>
    I need to change the sum total with javascript.
    The initial loading of the page SUMs the DB values correctly. Then onchange JS for a couple of factors may change one items COST.
    When that one item's COST changes I need to reSUM the total with JS.
    I was trying the following.. I don't know JS to well.
         var tds = document.getElementsByTagName('td');
         for (var xtd in tds) {
         //alert('Here:'+xtd.headers);
         if (xtd.headers=="COST") {
         // you found the element, do what you need
         alert(xtd.innerHTML);
         After inserting the above code into my javascript is popups up
         my alert, "Here:undefined"
         and never hits the alert(xtd.innerHTML);

    Hi Ya'll,
    I got the following working. See any problems?
    headers=="COST" actually showed up in each row of the whole column, including the SUM. So it ended up being great so I could sum it in the JS.
    I had to change the column type to NUMBER from VARCHAR2 for the initial SUM to work, so adding any formating to the SQL was not good. It looks pretty much what Andy has though... I found a slight hesitation it it though.. I have to work out a bug that prints the old total instead of the first.
    var ltotal =0;
    var tds = document.getElementsByTagName('td');
    for (var k=0; k<tds.length; k++) {
    if (tds[k].headers=="COST") {
    var inputObjs= tds[k].getElementsByTagName('input');
    if(inputObjs.length>0) {
    for (var j=0;j<inputObjs.length;j++) {
    ltotal+= parseFloat(inputObjs[j].value);
    //alert(inputObjs[j].value);
    //alert(ltotal);
    }else{
    tds[k].innerHTML=ltotal;

  • Filter Data with Merged and non merged columns in one

    Hi there,
    I have an excel spreadsheet that has got merged and non merged columns. What I want to be able to do is, filter a row that has got merged column and non merged columns. But when I filter it only takes the first line, rather than the merged and non merged
    columns.
    With this data I have one merged column which spans 6 rows, and then in the same row I have 6 rows with different points in, and what I want to do is filter my list, but be able to see the merged coloum aswell as the 6 points.
    Any ideas are much appriciated.
    Cheers
    SAN

    You cannot filter across a row - so I have assumed that what you mean is that some cells in columns are merged to serve as the headers, and the data is in the came columns but in the row(s) below the header. If this is incorrect, ignore this post.
    For this example, I have assumed E to J are the column of data and merged cells, column K is free, and the first merged header is in row 1:
    In K1, enter
    =E1
    in K2, enter
    =IF(COUNTA(E2:J2)=1,E2,K1)
    and copy down. Then filter based on column K, and it will show the headers and the data for the selected header value.

  • Merging two columns with muliple rows in Numbers '09

    I am trying to merge two columns each with 100 rows and related data. Column one is the street address and column two have office numbers. The final result would be one column with 100 rows with address and office numbers.

    Hi Ed,
    Use the CONCATENATE() function.
    Street address in column D, Office number in Column E
    100 Smith ST            212
    Formula: =CONCATENATE(E," ",D)
    Result:
    212 100 Smith ST
    Note the formula has three arguments, the reference to column E, a text literal (" ") containing a single space, and a reference to column D.

  • Merging data with LiveCycle questions

    I have LiveCycle Designer 8.0 and I didn't find a forum for it so just point me in the right direction if this is not the place.
    I have a couple of questions with merging data with Livecycle PDFS
    1. XDP is the file format for merging data with LiveCycle created PDFs (FDF was with Acrobat)? if not, what is the format?
    2. We want different colors of the same PDF without actually making the different PDFS, is there a way we can do this through the merging the data?  For example: In the XDP file, we specify the color of the border of a rectangle.  When the PDF merges with the data, will the PDF be able to change the border of the rectangle with the specified color?
    3. Can a picture (a specific size) be merged in the PDF?
    Thanks!

    1. XDP is the file format for merging data with LiveCycle created PDFs (FDF was with Acrobat)? if not, what is the format?
    An XDP file is simply an XML file that packages a PDF file in XML, along with XML form and template data. Data can be merged from generic .xml or the XML version of FDF called XFDF.
    2. We want different colors of the same PDF without actually making the different PDFS, is there a way we can do this through the merging the data?  For example: In the XDP file, we specify the color of the border of a rectangle.  When the PDF merges with the data, will the PDF be able to change the border of the rectangle with the specified color?
    Yes. Consider a field called 'firstName'. I can add a script to the form:ready event that checks the value of the data merged with the field and changes the border edge color to red if the data is not equal to 'Steve'.
    // customer.page1.firstName::ready:form - (JavaScript, client)
    if (this.rawValue != "Steve") {
         this.border.edge.color.value = "255,0,0";
    3. Can a picture (a specific size) be merged in the PDF?
    Yes.

  • JSF problems with Javascript

    Hi everyone!!
    The situation is this: I have a datable with one of its columns make an h:commanLink, which has two f:params, its actionListener is a function of a ManagedBean. This is JSF, not MyFaces. In IE, When the link is pressed, it shows a javascript error: " 'elements.idVar' is null or it's not an object ", however in Firefox, it works perfectly. I have been looking for the problem and it have to do with this:
    </form><a href="# onclick="clearFormHiddenParams_formResultado('formResultado');document.forms['formResultado'['formResultado:_idcl'].value='formResultado:dtTablaResultados:0:_id10';document.forms['formResultado']['idVar'].value='37';document.forms['formResultado']['idMun'].value='168'; document.forms['formResultado'].submit(); return false;"><span id="formResultado:dtTablaResultados:0:itColumna3" title="AREA COSECHADA EN CULTIVOS PERMANENTES">1,230</span></a></td>

    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function clearFormHiddenParams_formResultado_dtTablaResultados_1__id9(curFormName) {

    curForm.elements['idMun'].value = null;
    curForm.elements['formResultado:_idcl'].value = null;
    //-->
    </script>
    the way JSF manage the params. The error, acdording to the message shonw by IE is in this line: curForm.elements['idVar'].value = null;
    The code of the JSP is this:
    <h:commandLink     actionListener="#{consultaEstadisticasMB.detalleEstadistica}">

         <h:outputText title="#{consultaEstadisticasMB.columna3}" id="itColumna3" value="#{registro[2]}" />
    </h:commandLink>
    Waht can i do? (Not using MyFaces, because I cant do that)
    Thanks for your answers!!

    I have run into this same problem with javascript and the colon. I am not sure if the colon is a valid character for a javascript identifier (one would think the RI developers would have checked it out though!?!).
    Anyway, my workaround is to search through the Javascript DOM for the widget you want to obtain a reference to, using part of its id. After all, you know its id, you just can't use it as a javascript reference. In your Javascript code, do something like:
        var inputWidgets = document.getElementsByTagName("input");
        var targetInput;
        for(var i = 0; i < inputWidgets.length; i++)
           var inputId = inputWidgets.id;
    if(inputId.indexOf("yourInputId") != -1)
    targetInput = inputWidgets[i];
    break;
    It's a lot of effort to just get a reference to a form widget....but it works (I pasted in the code and changed it a bit, so it might not work as is, but at least it demonstrates the idea).

  • Merge reports with external PDF

    I would like to know if it's possible to merge only with Reports a generated report with an external PDF. I already know about "File Link" object but it doesn't support PDF format, only images or text. It's even possible to embed an external PDF to somewhere in a RDF file? Or I have to merge it with an external tool? I've found PDFBox from Apache guys but then I'm forced to do some webservice between forms and reports, with all the inconveniences and security issues.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ricard Flores.

    I could provide source sample if anyone ask for it.That would be a good idea if you can post it here. This question has been asked before, so it is good to have a thread with an answer.
    I have done something similar before, with a Word document stored in the database and adding this doc as an OLE file format column to the report. I am interested how you solved it with PDF, though.

    Test them and make sure they work before you post them. You forgot the table name (after the keyword INTO).

  • Problems by combinate JSF-Names with JavaScript (de.dev.user)

    Hello again.
    I have i new problem.
    Overview:
    1. Situation
    2. Working code
    3. Problem (reason for new idea)
    4. New Idea
    5. Problem (please help me !!)
    [1]
    The situation. I have one inputText and one selectOneMenu.
    They are logicly combinated. Of this pair i have two.
    If the user enters a errorcode in the inputText-field, the matching entry of the selectOneMenu have to be selected.
    If the user select a entry of the selectOneMenu, the code have to be shown in the inputText.
    Example:
    inputText1 <-> selectOneMenu1
    inputText2 <-> selectOneMenu2
    [2]
    For the moment i have realised this code (it works !!):
    details.jsp:
    <h:panelGrid columns="3">
    <h:inputText binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.itxtErrorCode1}" id="itxtErrorCode1" valueChangeListener="#{CbtdDetailsBean.itxtErrorCode1ValueChange}" onchange="submit()">
    </h:inputText>
    <h:selectOneMenu binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.hsomErrorCode1}" id="hsomErrorCode1" valueChangeListener="#{CbtdDetailsBean.hsomErrorCode1ValueChange}" onchange="submit()" >
    <f:selectItems binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.uisiErrorCode1}" id="uisiErrorCode1" />
    </h:selectOneMenu>
    <h:outputText value="#{lgs.txtErrorCode}" />
    <h:inputText binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.itxtErrorCode2}" id="itxtErrorCode2" valueChangeListener="#{CbtdDetailsBean.itxtErrorCode2ValueChange}" onchange="submit()"  />
    <h:selectOneMenu binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.hsomErrorCode2}" id="hsomErrorCode2" valueChangeListener="#{CbtdDetailsBean.hsomErrorCode2ValueChange}" onchange="submit()">
    <f:selectItems binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.uisiErrorCode2}" id="uisiErrorCode2" />
    </h:selectOneMenu>
    </h:panelGrid>
    CbtdDetailsBean.java:
    private ArrayList getErrorCodeList()
      ArrayList errorCodeList = new ArrayList();
      errorCodeList.add(new SelectItem("1", "TestErrorCode1"));
      errorCodeList.add(new SelectItem("2", "TestErrorCode2"));
      errorCodeList.add(new SelectItem("3", "TestErrorCode3"));
      errorCodeList.add(new SelectItem("4", "TestErrorCode4"));
      errorCodeList.add(new SelectItem("5", "TestErrorCode5"));
      return errorCodeList;
    // Value Change Listener (same for 2. group)
    public void itxtErrorCode1ValueChange(ValueChangeEvent vce)
      this.hsomErrorCode1.setValue((String) vce.getNewValue());
    public void hsomErrorCode1ValueChange(ValueChangeEvent vce)
      this.itxtErrorCode1.setValue((String) vce.getNewValue());
    // Input Text ErrorCode 1 (same for 2. group)
    private HtmlInputText itxtErrorCode1 = new HtmlInputText();
    public HtmlInputText getItxtErrorCode1() { return itxtErrorCode1; }
    public void setItxtErrorCode1(HtmlInputText itxtErrorCode1) { this.itxtErrorCode1 = itxtErrorCode1; }
    // HtmlSelectOneMenu ErrorCode 1 (same for 2. group)
    private HtmlSelectOneMenu hsomErrorCode1 = new HtmlSelectOneMenu();
    public HtmlSelectOneMenu getHsomErrorCode1() { return hsomErrorCode1; }
    public void setHsomErrorCode1(HtmlSelectOneMenu hsomErrorCode1) { this.hsomErrorCode1 = hsomErrorCode1; }
    // UISelectItems (same for 2. group)
    private UISelectItems uisiErrorCode1 = new UISelectItems();
    public UISelectItems getUisiErrorCode1() { uisiErrorCode1.setValue(getErrorCodeList()); return uisiErrorCode1; }
    public void setUisiErrorCode1(UISelectItems uisiErrorCode1) { this.uisiErrorCode1 = uisiErrorCode1; }-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    [3]
    Problem:
    If the user changes the itxtErrorCode1-field, the hsomErrorCode1 will be updated by reload, but the hsomErrorCode1 also updates the itxtErrorCode1-field with the old value.
    The second group is also updated. the itxtErrorCode2 has the value of hsomErrorCode2 (= 1) after entering itxtErrorCode1.
    [4]
    My new idea, where i need your help:
    I think about a second way to update this fields. JavaScript !!
    If this would work, i do not need to refresh the page.
    The sourcecode i would like to user for this is implemented in the jsp-file:
    <f:verbatim>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
      function SetControlByValue(cControl,sValue)
            cControl.value=sValue;
       function toUpper(obj)
            obj.value = obj.value.toUpperCase();
        // alert("document.frmDeviceDetails.hsomErrorCode2 = "+document.frmDeviceDetails.hsomErrorCode2);
    -->
    </script>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:inputText binding="#{CbtdDetailsBean.itxtErrorCode1}" id="itxtErrorCode1" onchange="toUpper(this);SetControlByValue(document.frmDeviceDetails.hsomErrorCode1,this.value);" />
    [5]
    The new problem:
    In the generated HTML-Code of itxtErrorCode1 and hsomErrorCode1 is:
    <input id="body:frmDeviceDetails:itxtErrorCode1" name="body:frmDeviceDetails:itxtErrorCode1" type="text" ... >
    <select id="body:frmDeviceDetails:hsomErrorCode1" name="body:frmDeviceDetails:hsomErrorCode1" ... >
    How can i reference this "name" to javascript?
    This Ideas does not work:
    document.frmDeviceDetails.hsomErrorCode1
    body:frmDeviceDetails:hsomErrorCode1
    document.body:frmDeviceDetails:hsomErrorCode1
    document.body.frmDeviceDetails.hsomErrorCode1
    document.body.frmDeviceDetails.body.frmDeviceDetails.hsomErrorCode1
    JavaScript seems to have a problem with ":". But this is part of the name!
    Any Ideas?
    p.s. please excuse my english, but i am from germany smile

In your Javascript code, do something like:
        var inputWidgets = document.getElementsByTagName("input");
        var targetInput;
        for(var i = 0; i < inputWidgets.length; i++)
           var inputId = inputWidgets.id;
    if(inputId.indexOf("yourInputId") != -1)
    targetInput = inputWidgets[i];
    break;
    It's a lot of effort to just get a reference to a form widget....but it works (I pasted in the code and changed it a bit, so it might not work as is, but at least it demonstrates the idea).

  • Merging Columns In ALV

    Hi
    My requitrement is that i want to merge Columns (not Rows) in my ALV layout.
    the condition is that i have to merge columns of only 1 row of my layout.
    Cell_Merge will Merge Rows but how can i merge columns
    suitable points will be awarded.
    with regards
    Rakshan

    Hi rakshan,
    could you give some kind of example?
    ALV does not allow to change the structure of the table displayed. If your goal is to put the contents of more than one column into one column, you need a destination column.
    I could imagine to concatenate all columns into a string:
    FORM MERGE_CELLS using ps_itab type any changing pv_string type string.
    data:
      lv_tmp(100) type c,
      lv_string type string.
    field-symbols: <f> type any.
    do.
      assign component sy-index of ps_itab to <f>.
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
      exit.
      endif.
      write <f> to lv_tmp left-justified.
      concatenate lv_string lv_tmp into lv_string separated by space.
    enddo.
    pv_string = lv_string.
    endform.
    Note: ABAP does not allow (yet) the use of write to <string variable>, that's why we use a temporary CHAR field.

    Clemens
