Merge PDF document at report time

Through XMLP - Is there a way i could merge content of a static PDF document into the current report output (report output is a pdf).
or
merge 2 pdf documents into 1.

    Hi,
    I have Adobe Acrobat XI
    I have a PDF Cover Letter, containing recipients, created from Word mail merge and using Excel as the datasource.  One recipient details per page.
    I have another PDF Legal letter, that cannot be edited, and cannot include an address or the normal method of PDF merges, hence the requirement for a cover letter.
    Can I create a new merged PDF document, for each recipient / page in the cover letter, and add the Legal letter after each cover page?

    Hi Bill
    Many thanks for your reply.  The Insert option is available, but by the looks of it, it cannot insert the document multiple times.  Having to do this manually for the 10 recipients in my test doc is painful enough.  The usual recipient list can be 100+!

    you will have to concatinate your report output with the static PDF document. in reprots 10g you can create a cusotm destination that could implement this functionality.
    out of the box, reports does not provide the ability to add static content in PDF to reports' generated PDF output.

    I would like to know if there is a way to automatically merge PDF documents so that a script (vbscript, not AutoIT) can be relied upon to merge documents.
    Ideally, a command line approach or hot folder is what I am after.

    You can with vbscript using IAC (InterApplication Communications) if you have Acrobat installed, and you're not using it on a server. More information is in the Acrobat SDK documentation. If you set it up to use a hot folder, only the licensee can be the one dumping the files into it.

    I have got an question. I have several different PDFs.
    Four main PDF and 20 PDFs which are ment as attachements.
    Via ABAP code i would like to chose dynamicaly several of those attachement PDFs and merge them within one of the main forms.
    So as result you will have one pdf which you can see in the print preview and send as one to the spool.
    But is this possible?

    Add below  parameter values in report program in FP_JOB_OPEN function module.
    SFPOUTPUTPARAMS-BUMODE = 'M'.
    SFPOUTPUTPARAMS-PREVIEW = ' '.
    Call different adobe forms without using FP_JOB_CLOSE.
    It will merge pdf files.
    At the end, call FP_JOB_CLOSE.
    and then get the merged pdf as FPFORMOUTPUT-pdf.

  • Merging pdf documents in Preview while maintaining OCR capability

    ...isn't working.  I can copy text from the individual pdf's, but when I merge them, the OCR text is replaced with "_".  This happening to anyone else?  This is happening on more than one Mac here at the office.
    I'm opening one file, expanding the sidebar, then dragging each subsequent file ONTO the page of the original.  Then I save-as and that's the result I'm getting.

    Thanks Linc. This document seems a misleading. I'm not sure what the combining of PDFs in this manner is supposed to do, but it does not seem to merge the files.
    After the three documents are brought together in one, you end up with three separate documents combined in one Preview window, which is handy for looking at them, but not for much else.
    When you close the window you still have three separate documents. The title "Combining PDF documents using Preview" seems quite misleading.

    After scanning 3 single docs and converting them (using Preview) to PDF. I want to merge them and send as an attachment. But am completely confused on how to do this. Any ideas thanks

  • OutOfMemoryError when merging PDF document

    Sir,
    We are facing problem while merging the PDF files (using iText 1.1)
    When the merged PDF reaches 60MB, we are getting java.lang.OutOfMemoryError exception.
    We increased the heap size using the below command
    Java -Xms32m -Xmx512m
    Still the problem is persisting.
    We are using JDK1.3 that runs on Win 2000 with has 1GB RAM, and virtual memory paging size set to 2000-5000
    Could you please help us to solve the above issue?

  • Batch match merge pdf documents from different sources

    Hello,
    I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro and I'm new to Acrobat in general.
    I have 500 clients who I want to send hard copy reports.  There are 500 pdf files with graphs/data, and 500 pdf files that are customized business letters.  They could be printed out and hand collated but I would like to automate a merge of the graphs pdf, and the letter pdf, for each client.
    There is flexibility in how the files can be named, if that data can be used to match.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Without seeing the documents it's not really possible to diagnose what the issue might be.  You can try running Preflight on your documents to see if they meet the specification or have problems that Preflight can find.  It may not find all of them.   The best way to make sure that you have document links that work is to do the combining on a single platform and then build your bookmarks from there.   Acrobat has some great abilities but there are several third party plug-ins that add bookmark features (i.e. Evermap Autobookmark ) that Acrobat doesn't have so you can look for things like that to aid you in buiding a complex bookmarked document.  Good luck!

    I work in the BI field and have created a pdf document using PDFCreator and another third part scripting tool called jpdfbookmarks.
    We have delivered something to the client but the quality of the output ( not the best) and the time it takes to cycle through each page ( when being viewed) within the merged
    pdf document takes a little time...
    So my boss as asked me to explore something within the Adobe suite of products BUT.... i have no idea which one i should choose.
    My requirements are as follows:
    To deliever this report to the client the program needs to be able to do the following:
    1)  convert excel files to pdf
    2) take these individually created converted excel to pdf converted files and and merge them into 1 document
    3) within this merged document have the abilty to be able to bookmark each page
    4) have a cover page with hyperlinks
    5) and finally but most important of all to be able perform steps 1 to 4 above programatically through scripting language vb script / vba
    nice to haves:
    6) abilty to email each merged doc to list of email address
    7) abilty to edit document to add in hyperlinks etc
    Need to get an understanding of costs ie
    1) how much per licence
    2) what product with have all the features above and how much
    Can anyone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction as to what product would be best suited?? Being able
    to scipt a solution together is key.

    You can do everything except the cover page with Adobe Acrobat (Standard or Pro).  There are demos on our website that you can install and try out.  You will need the SDK documentation and sample code to learn how to automate/program.

  • BI Publisher Merge PDF and print documents through Java

    We need our reports in merged and printed (collated). Is this possible with BI Publisher . If yes, how?
    The reports will be called from Java. So far I found the Web Service provided by BI Publisher handy in printing and creating reports but not combine them.

I seem to be no longer able to use the merge feature that I had successfully and repeated used. When I search for the merge feature I end up with a request that I pay for an upgrade monthly subscription to use the merge feature.

    Any help will be very much appreciated....
    I'm trying to create my first BI publisher report using a PDF document from 3rd party website. I want to populate the name from EMP table to one of the fields in the PDF doc.
    Here's the steps I've done:
    1. Created and saved a data set using only the ENAME column of EMP table. 14 records are available from the table.
    2. Run xml output and then save as sample data.
    3. Downloaded the PDF doc from the 3rd party website (government form - US Custom Form 7512).
    4. Using Adobe Acrobat X Version 10.1.4, I mapped the element name (ENAME) from my input XML file to the Name field.

    There could be an issue with the Loop. I guess your Template is looking at the first record only and not reading through all the records.
    Try to get the BI Publisher Desktop tool. Using this tool you can merge PDF document and XML to see the output from your local PC/Laptop. It will be easy for you to debug.

  • Merge pdf files in preview

    I must be missing something. I've read the instructions for merging pdf documents in Preview, but it's just not working. Wants me to "duplicate" a file or something. This seems very un-Mac-like. I get 2 documents open, drag the thumbnails from one into another, one at a time, and then try to "Save As". Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? I'm using Lion.

    This is because of the new versioning.
    As I recall this is what I did.
    Start with a new, blank preview page and then drag the other pdfs onto the blank form.
    I am not sure how I created the new blank page. I may have created it with Adobe first.
    It seems that one cannot use Preview alone to open a new blank pdf.
    Now when you click Save you should be asked for a new name.
    Otherwise, I think that preview will overwrite one of the other pdf files with the new files.
    It's a bit confusing - I suggest experimenting with a few "scrap" pdf files first.
    I wish Apple would put back the old "Save as" function. It is so much clearer and intuitive than the current scheme where often one has to search for the location of the file once it goes away.

    Hi guys I was wondering if there is anyway to Merge PDF documents in a Android app and keep the repeating information in forms intact. Let me explain. I have a regular form which cilents fill out but some times another form needs to be filled out also which have the repeating fields like name, date of birth, etc. I know that it is possible to do it in in Acrobat X Pro where you combine two PDF documents and as long as the form field is the same name or copied and pasted in the two seperate PDFs , information repeats itself automatically. However I was wondering if there is a way to do this on an android tablet (Motorola Xoom for me). I have tried apps that merge 2 seperate documents however the information from those that would normally repeat in Acrobat X on a regular computer does not do so in PDF merging apps I tried. I normally use qPDF and ezpdfreader but they don't seem to have a merging of two documents option (Or i don't know/can't find one). So any help? Any useful app I don't know about that can some my dilemia? Thanks ahead !

    i know this is rather late, but based on what I've read online, it seems your issue is common among pdf form apps on the Android. From what i hear, qPDF Notes works well, but doesn't allow calculations.  My guess is that the app developer hasn't loaded/programmed the necessary scripts in order to achieve calculations.
